Hello. I prob won't be too active here, but I just wanted to say I hope this game succeeds because I've been waiting literal years for a pirate game that isn't garbage and this one seems super promising.

I was a big pirate dork in high school bc of Pirates of the Caribbean, but that passion waned. It was rekindled a couple years ago and I've been feral about pirates all over again. 😂

Valheim is my most played game on Steam so I expect this one to eventually surpass that.

There are unfinished islands on the horizon that people have been able to cheese themselves to, but they are beyond the Demo borders

there is like a big sign on your screen that tells you "go back to the allowed area or you ship will be destroyed" - when you look at the map it's the red area, stay out of there. that's basically the devs way of "here is the invisible wall"

you can build your base, or a whole settlement like other did - they have built like castles and lighthouses and other amazing stuff - I like to walk around the island tbh or just sit at the fire. that's kinda nice.

Upgraded all your gear
Been good enough at sea combat to beat the BB Interceptor.

Hello, how can you repair a completely destroyed ship? I went AFK for two seconds while sailing and the ship was destroyed by the outer zone where you get the message to leave the area or be destroyed.

no no. at your camp. build the crafting station called "wharf". use that to get your ship back. once you have used the wharf you can hit "k" and summon the ship as usual anywhere.

That's a loaded question. Depends on the island. Some have extensive shallows surrounding them - on those you can build out really far and wide with good supports. Some of the other islands it is so insanely deep that you can't build out very far at all because its so far down you can't reach any support.

This is a simple short dock. The post go all the way down and the large ship will sit all the way into the dock. On shallower areas the docks can extend way out. As you can see the green at bottom of a pillar here. you can reach down a good ways.

I did test it to see how far I can push the piers toward the ocean.. Apparently you can keep pushing it outside of bonfire radius circle as long as you have wood planks in your bags to keep building piers

It is a graphics heavy game. It isn't going to be so optimized for older systems like Valheim for example as their graphics are very low rez - gorgeous if standing still, but you can see the difference in the quality of textures, etc. Definitely going to be harder on a system running Windrose than say Valheim - also being UE5.

I think they should have made the event into two groups: one for solo players and one for duos or teams. Only a couple people have had issues after update. So all can suggest is try the steps here #💬│windrose-chat message and all else fails re-install it. Could have some corrupted files from update.

A disconnect is when you lose connection to a server but your game is still running

Yeh the patches are for being disconected, not for crashes. If this is happening when he plays alone, that's entirely a seperate issue.
-Verify files in steam
-Make sure drivers are up to date
-Restart computer
-Make sure no background processes are intefearing

Expect it's more than likely the RAM side that helps, my laptop is far better on RAM and runs exclusively on SSD

as long as theyre aware and understand the game might not be running. ive seen people getting angry at some indie devs and companies for not optimizing the games for a 10yo pc lol. "it can run minecraft so it can run that game that looks like minecraft too" was funny to read

@raw rover honestly, i've seen SO MANY bug reports for crashing and bad performance etc from people with 40 and 50 series GPU's... I think they've driver and BIOS issues...

I've 3060Ti and doesn't run great on default configs, butn runs fine after a bit of a downgrade and doesn't crash... at all.

This has been very stable in general.

Developing 3D assets (not rendering) is far more CPU intensive than it is GPU
i wouldn't want to render on my laptop though

when i ran with gtx 1060 I started to accept that as long as I barely met their minium requirements and not bitching to them about it. I upgraded mine that will last me for years to come

Right, but most games these days are super CPU intensive. Unless your CPU is only good at parallell processing tasks, it's still likely better than what's in you desktop for gaming unless you have an AMD x3D chip in that.

I bought a laptop to game while travelling for work, I may never bother with a pc again, bed gaming is peak 😆👍

Depends on what games you want to play. More intensive and resource hungry games are going to overheat that laptop and cause thermal throttling.

@abstract aspen the past 3 years, i've had so little work available, that even replacing a broken component would be IMPOSSIBLE financially... people aren't amde of gold and most people in the world are living in areas where a GPU can cost years wages... just reminding that we're not a monolith.
