ahh. well maybe I'm missing how to do something similar in photoshop. but just wanted to remove something minor from an image and have it fill in properly. I could clone stamp, dodge and burn, but figured ai was better at that stuff. and then it put a log on the image that was about 100 times as distracting, lol.

I mean, not trying to remove anything. I just have to use other tools I guess. not that big of a deal to me. I just thought I'd try it out. seems like the fact that I pay for adobe suite they could maybe offer me the option to not have the watermark be a huge bright red overlay that takes up a significant portion of the image

but I guess they don't really want people using the images for anything so I'll take another route

the watermark is there while it's in beta, as a reminder that it can't be used commercially during that time period. It's not really about having a subscription or not, firefly is in beta for everyone.

I know. what I'm saying is I don't see the reason to have such an overbearing watermark is all. lots of more subtle ways to do it. and I wasn't even using generative ai really. I guess inpainting, but only wanted to take something small out of an image. and the watermark ended up being about 1000 times more distracting than what I was trying to remove

For example, we use PS like a tool and the result that is generated belongs to us.
If we take a picture with a camera and don't draw it by hand, the result belongs to us and not to the camera manufacturer.

Thank you for prompt reply 🫶🏼 Second part of question: are all images shared then openai? Meaning anyone can take it, manipulate parts of it, take parts of it and make collages etc? And any of the images shared or results are they owned by the platform (by adobe in this case)- also is it pulling source from designers works uploaded or saved to the cloud for years globally? So; there is no ownership at all and anyone can use these images for reorganizing, manipulation, recreation and it’ll not be infringing anyones rights? Will the prompts written also be owned by adobe or it’s for all meaning another creator or company can use same prompts or take these prompts to modify and use? Sorry if too many questions, trying to understand the ip rights before diving too deep and investing a lot of time to this (I’ve been using design software as a professional since 1994, trying to understand if firefly is good to create with only as a hobby or perhaps as only inspiration source for marketing folks like pinterest etc making briefs and mood boards)

There are several court cases on-going right now. Though its difficult to know which way US courts/law will go, its looking like assigning copyright to work will require "significant human effort" being invested in the work. In other words, you can't just type in some words and assume ownership of generated pixels. You would have to edit it significantly. However, if the owner of the algo is considered the owner of the image and they grant you unlimited license to use, that also could happen and will definitely impact how people create visual media going forward. It will likely become more clear over the next year or so.

Thank you, yes been following the courts, so significant human interaction can be taking parts of images created (sadly even by others and of-course we just have to trust the designer/creator personal ethics in the jurisdiction where there is not much way of knowing if working through outsourcing through fiverr upwork etc) , collage them in and repainting in traditional media and editing with traditional photoshop and illustrator… also taking photography of the generated image can qualify it to have copyrights under current photography rights (screen grabs don’t count) Will adobe do an educational segment or a test to ensure users are not violating original creators works?

Currently, the EULA grants you the rights to use the Firefly service. Local laws would determine who owns the prompt used to generate the image. Consult an attorney on that one. We don't offer legal advice here.

As I said, you'd want to consult an attorney to discuss your particular workflow, needs, etc. No one here can advise on that aspect of this. The only thing we can tell you right now is that during the beta program, you're being given the rights to use the service for personal exploration of the generative A.I. service(s) and the images generated cannot be used for commercial purposes during the beta program. What happens after that? You'll have to wait for an announcement from Adobe about that.

Lol! Brainstorming with my creative fellow here 🙂 Innovation thrives with asking questions. So instead of filing the paperwork with the string of words; retouch generated image a bit in traditional photoshop - perhaps generate some other feathers on hat, collage it in- and then write “WIZARD CAT” on the image (ofcourse either by hand or fonts I own using illustrator) can take photography of the final image created and copyright register on USPTO. May just try this and see if this creates a go around 😉 Ohhh boy, here comes another; put that image on a can of cat food and push forward with packaging and extention on flex packs, with other cat products. Build a brand around it by changing color and pattern on the wizard hat… Curious how it’ll go. I guess I may get some of my IP attorneys busy soon. Loving the challenges AI is putting forward these days.

The AI doesnt really understand anything it will try to interpret your prompt and create something based on what it thinks it should be. Sometimes this works better with words like car, bike etc. Since those have a very recognizable form. While terms such as long shot, full shot etc are more abstract. Although if I want to have the full body from a human for example full shot usually works.
