@urban sluice if on Reforger a mod like that gets uploaded it could result in a workshop ban for that uploader, just like IP breaking(ripped) mods, my bet will be that Arma4 will probably have the same sort of workshop within BI controle (speculation of course as details are still unknown) but if that is true they will also not allow any form of IP infringement mods (including star/clone wars/ripped content and so on) like on Reforger.
The steamworkshop content is not 100% in controle of BI and depending on owners of the IP to take action.

Yea strange world, but like I said Steamworkshop a IP owner needs to take actions the BI workshop they can prevent IP breaking mods to stay online. And a official statement from Disney was made in the past and can be read in #ip_rights_violations pinned messages(including a email with answer).

This is going to sound like a really really dumb question but I don't really know how to word it, so please bear with me..
How do you control the heli? WASD controls the pitch forward and back, but so does my mouse, which throws me off a lot.. When you're going for a gun run for example with an attack heli, are you supposed to stay some distance away, hover and fire? But even then how does that work, because I tried that in editor with and without auto hover and I couldn't angle down enough without either losing my hover (no auto hover) or being pulled back into position (auto hover on)
It's just weird to me, and In modes like Antistasi it makes it difficult to capture helicopters cuz I can't fly them back, and pulling them via an APC..well, arma happens most time

you can control air assets with mouse, it's a bit easier to manouver than with WSAD keys. And then hold Alt to look around if necessary Or get a joystick and head tracker if you want to do it the professional way.

gun run implies you're actually moving fast towards the target and leave the zone as soon as possible instead of hovering far away. For "stationary" fighting you use assets with separate gunner seat. Pilot maintains the height, gunner controls the rotating turret and stuff.

if you're trying to hit faraway targets witha helicopter while hovering in one spot, and your vehicle does not have a turret, then you're using a wrong vehicle for the assignment. You can watch dslyexci on Youtube, he has a lot of videos of himself providing CAS with turret-less vehicles and a set of "art of flight" tutorial videos.

You don't need the DLC's unless the server is using maps from said DLC, vehicles, guns, what have you, don't affect you, the only thing you can't do is use equipment from those DLC's without the DLC, you get an obnoxious DLC screen thing blocking you accessing them.

In short, you don't need DLC unless you want to play on a server using DLC maps. Like the Prairie Fire CDLC for Task Force Mike etc.

I don't have enough fingers to count how many times a Warzone-kid jumped in here and was surprised that a military sandbox designed to sink hours in and that belongs to almost 30yo series that are known for being easy to buy but hard to play is not a fast-paced shooter.

It looks worse than it is. The launcher gives the impression that you need them. But technically you already have the files for gear/uniforms/vehicles/objects on your computer installed. Only the terrain files are not accessible, so you can't join servers playing on DLC terrains you didn't purchase.

With creatorDLCs it is more stricter, in the sense that you need to subscribe to the creator DLC compatibility mod for non-buyers to see those models and stuff on vanila or modded terrains. (creatorDLC stuff can be used on other terrains, even if they seem out-of-theme there)

So check on what terrain the server plays. If it is vanila: Altis/Stratis/Malden or a mod terrain then you should be able to join without any (c)DLCs.

If you want to play with jets then you can technically with the jets existing in vanila Arma 3. The Jets DLC only adds more different ones. But it depends on what the scenario creator has in mind for that. If it only puts JETS DLCs planes in it then you can look at it but don't touch.

If you want 'button-realistic' jets experience then you better get MS Flight Simulator/DCS/Falcon 4 BMS 4.3x. Arma 3 is more infantry focused so the plane fidelity only goes so far.

I never said they should. TFAR functionality is all you need. What ever takes care of the VOIP underneath is irelevant. Be it in game VOIP as we have right now.

Even with how TFAR/ACRE is written right now, you could replace TS with Mumble (ACRE has afaik a version) or anything you want

Hey guys, I played Arma2 probably more than 10 years ago, and I wanted to play it again with some buddies for old times sake... I remember there was this great campaign called PMC Versus for Chernarus (it had 30 missions)

They don't have MBTs. You only fight 1x Stomper, 2x Moras, and 2x Zamaks loaded with rifle squads for the final battle in Elimination Coda. As for the AWC Nyx at Camp Kresnik, it isn't camouflaged in the LDF's Geometric camo so it could be from some other NATO member.

Only the Gryphon makes an appearance but it basically reuses the AAF's Grey colour scheme since BI didn't bother to make a unique texture for it...which makes sense since you'd never be able to see it up close anyway outside of the cutscene.

that would depend on the hardware so to speak consoles now of days might handle it but however from what i know and seen its not possible . think of consoles like game cabinets . they are like small pc's that are emulators. they tend to only handle one game at a time or many depending on storage and processing power. also the program in it also that can run said game/games. like DDR is pretty iconic as a good ref to go by. its a game that used key maps and mp3 files. so i mean i hope eventually when we can get something like that but you might as well call consoles pc's at this point.

I play on PVE servers against AI and near 60 player on daily and I get 50-60 fps. Even if it's in on 40 fps it doesn't feels bad. I played arma 3 too long with both low-end and mid spec pc I enjoyed every time.

I do understand the enfusion engine is great, I don't like reforger and so many people don't too. I enjoy arma 3, If there was an option I would prefer upgraded virtual engine and playing arma 3 just like ets2 in same game engine, with endless updates to game and optimized performance.

I mean, my i7-13700 with RTX 3060 can't run at above 70 FPS in any conditions in MP. Your laptop would probably be getting 30-60 FPS at best I would say.

Arma is a CPU-heavy game, at least from what I know. Graphics could always be lowered and honestly don't make that big of a difference in the experience.

arma can be if you are doing the pvp side of things HOWEVER it is more a milsim game that can be defined by the server owner. so you can have games that is similar to ready or not , helldivers, roleplay and many more so its based on your personal experience and playstyle.

main thing about DLCs is that only terrains that come with DLCs are hard locked. without owning them you can still play if server uses the assests. you can see them but with weapons there will be on screen ads and with vehicles you can only ride as passenger

Im pretty certain malaria is present in the Old Man scenario, as well as Mike Force, the coop mode from the CDLC SOG:PF

Beyond that... malaria is a slow disease. We're talking weeks of dormancy, and the effects are just a serious fever. I dont think it would add anything to Arma gameplay, unless youre using it as a story element.

last time i played in arma- i could click caps, or some sort of button that would show last known locations of enemies with a circle, having an exclamation mark inside, or a questionmark- u could see i think, blue boxes too if it was a teammate

does anybody know what's that called, on what button it is or- anytihng about it? caps doesn't really work- i was playing on antistasi and uhh, warlords at that time

Oh nice - feel like youd probably be a good source of information haha. So Im super intrigued by your Leave Body Respawn mechanic. Some questions about it. When the player respawns, where do they respawn - do they keep their load out? Does it just follow the mission settings? Also, for the AI that takes over the incapaciated body, what happens if you play with Ace Medical turned off for AI? Is the medic no longer able to treat the patient? If the medic successfully revives the patient, does that AI just starting fighting where he is? Just stand there? How does that work?
