Yeah and it's impressive
I think it needs mods for it to be a standard feature in ARMA
but it's standard without having to actually set them to get in a vehicle in DR.
also in Arma , the squad leader can actually decide to other his squadmembers enter vehicle and move with it to distant target

Extra in Red River since unlike DR you never get at least AI that start with a anti-tank weapon so you literally always have to do it yourself.
They did add the loadout menu back at least which was appreciated.

Because yes, clearly, spraying full auto with an MP5, under 50 meters, my shots should land on the far left/right of my screen far away from my sights.
DR had some arbitrary weapon spread but Red River overdoes it.
DR at least feels like it only really stops you consistently sniping with an unscoped rifle while RR makes the shotgun/MP5 able to consistently miss while aiming center of mass at close-range.
Well DR did do something right with launcher reloads.
Reloading AT/AA launchers in Arma has always been way too fast which makes vehicles too easy to take out.
Yeah I did like how it felt like you were using a big heavy launcher in DR.
I did like how weapons like the Stinger had you actually properly assemble them.

the antenna is not necessary to operate the weapon, but i know what you mean. It should take some preparation to use an AT/AA weapon
I do think it would be nice if we got "Light" (I think ARMA 3 removed them?) Launchers like the LAW that aren't as effective at taking out armor but they could have a faster equip time.
So a full missile Javelin is more powerful but it takes more time to ready, let alone the weight.
RPG-7 is more or less A3's "light" AT launcher.
Everything else is either medium or heavy.

hello, I would like to play arma 2 again with all campaigns, is there any mod or setting that can cancel the weight effect of the weapon making it more like arma 3? something that makes movements less "woody".

So uh...has there ever been any clarification on whether Tactics will ever be made playable again? Namely the ERR_REGISTRY_EMPTY issue that doesn't allow you to boot the game at all?
So I was banned from a server (Miksuus Warfare) in Arma 2 for "Hacking". But I never did hack or cheat. The admin doesn't want to show evidence because of "security reasons" and says that even if I was detected by accident theres nothing they can do. What are the possible explainations for such a thing? It's reallly mind boggling.

If he didn't actually cheat, well, maybe it's possible but I would find it very weird and uncommon. But I have to act based on evidence β if we unbanned every possible script kiddie that told us that they didn't cheat despite of logs showing otherwise, our servers would be unplayable

If all anticheats would show hackers their evidence and show them how they detected the hacking, that makes it EXTREMELY easy for hackers to just change their stuff to circumvent the detection and continue hacking.
Thats why all major anticheat thingies never tell you how they know, just that they do know.
In the end, its the server owners server and he can do what he wants, if he wants to ban you he can just do that with no need to explain anything

There is one explaination I can think of where its kinda my "fault". I made a mod for my non public arma server that includes admin scripts that are called from the init.sqf there. Is it possible I forgot to unload this and the server for some reason did not reject the mod? Normally it should.
Battleye didn't take a stance on whether you cheated or not, it just logged very unusual activity on your end. When it comes to the said mod, it's not possible since we have signature check on on the server.

Technically speaking bypassing the server signature check is even deeper hack than running arbitrary scripts on the server, so it doesn't change things/our decision much if at all. @ripe rune I believe we can continue in DM if necessary, I don't think this is the right place for this

Update on this: we switched from the AMD R5 3600 server to i5 12500 one, did exactly the same optimizations and the server and client FPS dropped dramatically as result of the change. We're extremely confused now
The i5 12500 should have about 40-50 % better single core performance compared to R5 3600, so I got no clue what's this about
you are not going to squeeze alot more performance out of the a2 engine by switching cpu

They really upped their cooling game on the Alder Lake boxes

from experience with multiple different communities servers the NICs will eventually crash and reset which takes a little while. meanwhile any arma session will just be frozen (for obvious reasons) until the card is back online

Yeah and server FPS was kinda insane like 47 after running Warfare mission for 3 hours with 20 players. It is possible that netlog runs on the same thread than the server, and causes insane performance degredation when thereβs hundreds if not close to thousand AI in the match simultaniously?

I'm leaning towards assuming the heightmap was fetched initially for South Asia, and a cut was made from it to make Shapur in Arma 2, and that then all the objects/compositions then later got copypasted over to the South Asia version - given that there is roads nearly everywhere in South Asia but there's no roads for Shapur which otherwise would be one of the few landmarks of the terrain

South Asia was part of the campaign before the Hinds DLC came out for TOH
ACE2 was somewhat better at integrating itself into Arma 2's vanilla gameplay so campaigns like Harvest Red or Operation Arrowhead should be alright.
Outside of Silver Lion (which is a buggy mess in of itself), the other campaigns should run normally too.

After so many years of having weird errors Arma 2 has finally installed and opened correctly...
But. While all previous HR missions went pretty fluent I have an issue in Manhattan, basically me and my team go dead after one shot, the wounded mechanic is just gone, everyone dies no matter how and when is being fired at.
I would live with it if AI wasn't sniping me from the other side of Cherno, being shot in the leg causes my guys to instantly die and mission ends, a bit frustrating.
Is there any debug console mod or something that would let me make myself and my team invincible so I can go through that mission without skipping it? Trainers have little features and the only console on BI Forums doesn't really work.
Pretty sure the semi-official Debug Console still works. Just run BIS_cooper allowDamage false (and the same for BIS_sykes/BIS_rodriguez/BIS_ohara).

ok I thought Harvest Red (A2) was bad, but man I reverted the Good Morning Takistan (A2OA) mission over 12 times already because all my teammates get own3d right after they manage to get out of the helicopter, no matter what I do sometimes something does not "trigger" I think, so vehicles meant to be destroyed in the beginning are just driving around killing every marine.
Do I need less than 60 FPS to not break the campaign, or maybe play with lowest settings? because all old walkthroughs seem to be easy as they should be, and I'm stuck with my hoorah morons being tapped in first 10 minutes.

Either you have a mod interfering with gameplay or your AI settings are way outta wack.
GMT is pretty much the definition of an on rails mission...you can't fail it unless you go out of your way to do so.
I have no mods, and I even changed difficulty to Recruit.
I thought friendly AI was pretty much invincible in this mission, all I do is just stay behind the squad leader, and somehow they always end up dead either by some big explosion on where the Heli drops them or due to the tanks/apcs rolling to counter the Americans.
Your squad members aren't invincible but they're not supposed to get mowed down upon landing either.
Did none of the tanks (that Herrera is a part of) destroy the Takistani QRF?
Same goes for Pierce; his Apache is supposed to destroy most of the vehicles that roll in (or at least draw fire from the M113s).
the tanks roll really late. When the player's heli goes away Takistani vehicles start driving along the airstrip and if the AT soldier reacts quick enough he takes out one with his launcher, but it happened only twice, the rest of the time opfor just drive where the infantry is and then friendly tanks show up.
I've been gunned down two times by the Shilka on a hill that is meant to be destroyed somewhere after it takes down one of the helicopters, but most of the time it is just intact and fires at whatever is on the strip. Two times I managed to kill its crew before they jump into the vehicle.
when friendly vehicles come, I usually end up with 2-3 people in my team or all are dead and I have to restart.
Yeah, definitely something wrong with your game. I can hazard a guess that Herrera's platoon is getting stuck somewhere early on (AI driving at its best...).
The event with Graves blowing up the ZSU is also supposed to happen automatically before you land.
...and I wouldn't be surprised if Pierce probably crashed somewhere early on.

I don't recall CCP/CorePatch changes breaking anything for the campaigns so this shouldn't be happening.
I've installed everything in one go before, so Arma 2 + OA and addons, then I installed ACR so maybe something went nuts, I'll try "clean" Arrowhead now. If it doesn't help I'll just skip and watch some walkthroughs but man I was counting on this being playable
ok, installing just the Operation Arrowhead seems to do the job, I had to clear both villages alone anyway but at least most of my team survived
nevermind I think I'm about to give up, now I'm getting some errors like missing G36 paa file, when I die I get No entry 'bin\config.bin/CfgMusic/Track06_Abandoned_Battlespace.sound' and upon loading last save the game says that mission is dependant on addons that I don't have loaded, and of course all of them are the basegame stuff (ca_) which is of course downloaded.
Everytime I try to verify files, it says one couldn't be verified and downloads it, but another verification will always show the same thing and redownload it, and it will loop forever.
When I get the no entry error upon dying, if I play in English (by default game chooses Polish language) the game crashes, with PL enabled it will throw out the dependencies.
If I won't find any working torrent of this game I think I'll just skip it all and live a happy life without playing OA, because it already takes so much time just to wonder wtf has Steam done to this game.

I reinstalled the game four times now, with and without the base Arma 2 and with and without PMC or BAF, always the same outcome
also if it didn't install properly I wouldn't be able to play the game at all right? Missing dependencies show when I try to load a save, if I restart from the beginning it works
There's been games you can play not properly installed on steam sometimes where it's glitches
you can play them but the game bugs out

I deleted all folders that had anything to do with Arma 2 including thoose inside steam directory, documents and appdata

Our server FPS basically doubled, in some situations tripled even when hosting very heavy mission (Benny style Warfare with hundreds of AI and quite many players). The malloc doesn't that do much when you run it without large pages enabled, but with it and the large pages combined the difference is huge
I've molded ARMA 2 a lot and for some reason and somewhere along the way, I broke the Czech voice acting for the ACR. It doesn't seem to work anymore and it just defaults to the same voices as the US troops.

That's how it works, you can download them from torrent if anyone's seeding. If there's no source the record will be there until someone shows up with the files. Look for alternatives of mods that are not seeded

It's only Sahrani/United Sahrani/South Sahrani that are the ones that take a long time to load.

I'm far too late in the party, first in 2020 I discovered arma 2 and OA which I had no idea what it was, then arma 3 with all dlcs now arma reforger. it's too much for short amount of time I can't take it anymore π
Honestly, just play the ones which you bought first. Dont have to keep up with the latest game unless you want public multiplayer sessions.

but I have zero idea if Arma reforger is going to use same scripting language or not

Reforger uses different language called Enforce Script. It's quite different from SQF
it should be okay as long as the developers make a good tutorial page like official bohemia website that categorized all script commands.

If you want to start in "R e a l i s t i c" Military Shooters, start here. This game is old, runs smooth, and its controls are easy to learn. I may have 17 Hours now, but when i got used to the controls, i had only 3 Hours played. If you're gonna work up to ArmA 3 (Not Reforger, its easier than this), then play Cold War Assault. This game also comes with the DLC "Resistance" which has a great story. Single missions are fun to play aswell, but when starting out, wait to do Helicopter missions, as the controls are very touchy. (Tips : if Right handed, set your Interaction key for items and such as "Tab", it will help alot. | Dont play on highest 4 resolutions, as it widens the display too much. | Dont worry about your graphics, as highest settings possible still runs at 60 FPS on my terrible laptop) Otherwise, 11/10, chef kiss is love this game to death, get the game even for money, its worth even 60 USD.

and my soldier is initialized with this say ["myvoice", 1]
but there's no gradient in sound, if I got some specific distance from him, there's no sound and no subtitles
but event at relatively large distances, I still hear the audio at 100% of the volume
this doesn't look like a distance from which I should be able to hear someone with the maxTilesDistance parameter (the second parameter for say) set to just 1
also, on a sidenote, the sound doesn't continue from where it should when I unpause, anyone else experienced this?

Yeah CWA is great. (Someone linked me how to decomplie the files, so once I finish the game "vanilla* fully I'm going to make a simple "Handguns" mod that puts them in "regular" inventories for classes that use them)

But the waypoint disappears when I'm too close
I am not sure if OFP allows to set the completion radius but if so, set it to e.g 0.5
otherwise you can use a "Hold" waypoint (and set a manual "move" or "get in line" title) that you skip by script once the player's position is to your taste

there are two arma 2 copies on steam, you probably own the one that is not visible in the store. its the same game so don't worry about it

they might just literally not be there
You could... Go there in Arma 3 with cup, and do getModelInfo cursorObject; to get the filepath, usually cup file paths are the same as in Arma 2, then you know exactly where they should be

Hey, so I've been a bit bored around in yt and for some reason I started looking at the old videos uploaded by Bohemia Interactive, and eventually found the trailers of the factions present in ArmA 2, and a trailer got my attention
