LLM (нейросети) не знают, кто они такие, если им это не прописали в системном промпте (System Message).

Если ты спросишь GPT-5 "Какая ты модель?", она может ответить "Я GPT-4", потому что в её обучающей выборке (датасете) было много текстов от GPT-4, и она просто думает, что так надо отвечать.

Или наоборот: Perplexity может прописать дешевой модели в системном промпте: "Отвечай, что ты GPT-5". И она будет с пеной у рта доказывать, что она GPT-5, хотя сама тупая как пробка.

You're looking at the wrong processor icon. The bottom one in the input box is just for choosing what you want it to use for your next query, but the one at the end of the answer (as you can see in the image) is the one you should refer to to see what it used

You could open each attachment and copy the contents into new files. Other option would be to open the file, grab the URL fast, paste it somewhere, then right-click and pick "Save Link As". (Each link works for around 30 seconds before expiring, but opening up the attachment again generates a new one)
No easy way to download them from within Perplexity :(

I keep running into an issue though: Comet Assistant CONSTANTLY says that it disconnected from the browser session and stops the workflow, before even getting anything done, which I believe counts against my weekly task limit. I'm reaching out because I've noticed a significant issue with Perplexity's TTS/voice player functionality that I've been using for language learning with my Pro account.

Until a few weeks ago, I was using Perplexity Comet with Pro to study languages. The system had a great feature - it would activate a modal with a slider that allowed me to listen to the pronunciation of sentences and provided supportive guidance on phrase comprehension. It worked seamlessly.

However, now despite following the exact same instructions I set up in my dedicated Spaces, Perplexity no longer activates the listening link. The TTS/voice player functionality has stopped working on new threads.

Interestingly, the system continues to function properly only if I continue the conversation on older threads - the voice player still works there.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? If so, how did you manage to resolve it?

My version of Android now allows me to set the side key to activate the assistant. I have Perplexity set, and when I start talking or am in the middle of talking, it cuts off and begins processing what it has heard.

I have found that when trying to get feedback from "read the text on my screen" or wanting input from text on my screen, it is having major issues gathering correct text. Before, it was perfect.

Worked for me, if you go to the account, you need to Update your billing information. A payment method is required on the file to continue with the Pro version. There will be no charge if you have claimed Perplexity Pro before today i.e. Jan 16, 2026.

It's an interesting idea. I use these tools (Cursor, GitHub CoPilot primarily...same kind of thing as Claude Code) along side perplexity

• If I need code writing, these tools are my go-to. Integrate with my codebase and environment, test driven design, easy access to code-focused models
• If I need external research, I go to Perplexity. I also find Perplexity is the best at complex structured research and web browsing (with Comet)
• Cursor, GH CoPilot, and Claude offer their real power with customization, they are becoming agentic platforms not just IDE. All have MCP integrations, custom agents, skills. These let users build tailored AI workflows and agents that perform exactly what they need, at the cost of piping up the infrastructure (or using one of the huge library of community-provided resources). We can even integrate Perplexity through its MCP server.
• When I have asked Perplexity to generate code (with default auto model selection), I've found challenges. It performs about as well as other online "chat" coders, which is limited

I would suggest looking at how Claude Code is starting to evolve as a workflow tool; how people are using it for non-technical work. Creating documents, slideshows, etc. I'll sometimes use similar workflows where I have Perplexity do a bunch of research and then feed that report to another agent to synthesize it and write me a slide deck (there are many awesome tools for creating slideshows with code that work great with LLMs). It may make more sense not to compete with the major players on coding, but instead focus more on "soft skills"; research, thinking, reasoning, presenting. Would be nice to see these features in a Perplexity app (or Comet).

Basically, Claude is very dominant right now in the agentic engineer space because it has the best models, best infrastructure, and best context management (via skills). Maybe Perplexity could focus on being your expert marketer and writer?

Thank you for the detailed response. I currently use Perplexity Pro as my primary AI and then use Google AI Pro for coding Gemini CLI is amazing and antigravity takes things to a new level. I have Cursor as a backup. I plan on keeping both subs however I am going to try Claude while I'm stioll in the one year free trial of Google AI Pro. But given most of my household uses Google for most things it makes sense for us to share the extra Google One storage rather than me buy Claude. I also have an Android phone and the extra storage helps

Makes sense. Cursor is currently considered "the best" if you're more technically minded and need power for coding, or want its agentic workflow features (which are many).
But, the tools evolve so rapidly, it may make sense just to stay on monthly and cancel / change as things evolve. Google just came out with its new memory personalization feature which could really make a differeence for some folks, especially once UCP starts getting adopted (protocol to let you buy stuff right in an LLM)

Hello, I'm a noob here. I've been using Perplexity for some time, but I guess I have not dug that deep on tweaking the prompts. However, lately I'm a bit disappointed with the answers it provided. It didn't really bother me as I always curate and improve the answers myself, until yesterday I felt it was degrading even further. So, I asked it a really simple question - a lyric to a song. It didn't want to provide me as it seems that Perplexity think providing the lyric would violate the song's copyright. I tried to respond to it by expressing that it's for personal and not public use, but still failed. Then I tried the same prompt in ChatGPT and it gave me the lyric instantly. Also in different cases including some in deep researches, it hallucinated a lot when it tried to synthesize something that is not explicitly mentioned in a source. Is there anyone else experiencing this feeling that Perplexity is kind of degrading in providing its answers? I'm using PerplexityPro, fyi.

It can depend a lot on how you prompt it, and sometimes you will get hallucinations especially if the sources don't directly address your question. I don't know that I've faced that many challenges, and it's great for getting the basics around a topic or helping me find sources to dig further, but I've certainly caught errors

Prompt engineering is a big topic with a lot to cover. Would suggest maybe checking out some of the sample prompts on the prompt-lib or using Perplexity to research best practices. In general, you need to tell it how to think, what to do. People (esp in business context) don't realize you need to treat it like a junior just out of school, needs very explicit instructions and controls to ensure it's not making things up.

For personalization I will do things like tell it how I like it to answer (brief, executive audience, that kind of thing)

Perplexity might not be able to read the file. Sometimes a PDF is a scan of text rather than text and marked up making it harder for any AI tool to read the pages. there are tools like JAWS for blind people which can OCR a PDF into a Word Document.but that's a very niche tool and not easily available to msot people

You the best of my knowledge you have to manually remove the expiration on each thread. I often run into the issue that comet will tell me that it can't do something, which it absolutely can - say just checking my emails and responding in a certain way (I have a task set up for it wiht specific instructions). Sometimes it works fine, sometimes it refuses. And then I open a new instance, use the exact same prompt, and it will execute?!

The other thing I get often is, if a task is big, it tries to tell me it's too much work for it to handle, and then tells me how to do it it. And I'm like, "I know it's a lot of work. That's what I'm paying you for. You do it, please.", and sometimes we can have a tussle before it executes or if it refuses again, I can start a new thread, use the same prompt and it will action.
