Just updated the Mac App, but the FONT is still too small for my eyes. CMD+ doesn't zoom the font like other apps, and my eyes tear up trying to see anything. I've had to revert to a WEB APP to use Perplexity on MacOS.

Fairly sure it’s been mentioned before, but having the ability to manually choose the theme for the app would be great.

I have also noticed that when it comes to longer prompts the app sometimes struggles with its responses and it becomes quite difficult to scroll down. I found that to get around it you have to scroll upwards and then scroll back down and it should work again.

Also for longer form prompts, I’ve noticed that sometimes when starting a new thread, it will just close and the thread still exists and I can click back into it to continue, but it just closes for some reason.

Finally, I think it makes a lot of sense for us to have a report issue or report bug option within the app itself and then we can choose to upload some diagnostic logs. I think that would be really good and it would make life a lot easier when it comes to diagnosing and replicating the bugs, other people would have as well.

Just found it myself. If you right-click the dock icon and choose Library or Discover, then expand the left sidebar (there's a little icon for it at the upper right of the large Perplexity app window), you'll see Shortcuts at the bottom of the sidebar.

In the Web-Version you have the opportunity to stop the answer-generation (for example if you directly see that you have missed something in your prompt).
Sadly on the Mac App it is not possible to stop the answer from generating. If the prompt is a little bit more complex, you have to wait a long time in order to correct it.

Enhancement request for the macOS app:

• Allow users to drag and drop files from the Finder or anywhere to the app, similar to how it is already the case on the web version. This saves time when we already have a file handy.
• Example: I have a screenshot in Snagit, in the web version I can simply drag the image from Snagit and drop it to the browser. In the v1.0.3 build 36 macOS version, I must first save my screenshot from Snagit to a location, then click Attach in Perplexity, look for that location, and validate. #DragAndDrop

In the web version of Perplexity, hovering over a reference icon (a small numbered circle) opens a pop-up window with a short link description. I can then decide whether to open the link. However, in the app, there is no such option, and clicking on the number opens the link. Another annoying thing is the text box. When there is already text, it is almost impossible to add or edit the text.

Currently, it’s totally unusable for me.

The interface is buggy and laggy on the M1 Max, and it needs the same features as the web version when handling large text lengths (file system).

Performance improvements are necessary.

It’s heading in the right direction, but I believe there is still a lot of work to be done; it still feels like a beta version.

I am unsure about the available feature that keeps the top screen for Perplexity. I have turned on Stage Manager. When I use a shortcut to open a new thread before any app windows, such as Arc or others, are opened, I want to search or ask for an explanation. After entering questions or prompts, the window changes to the Perplexity app. However, I want the top window to remain without changing, similar to how ChatGPT replies in the top window. This way, I can return to work in the same window without being interrupted or needing to change windows with the shortcut command+TAB.

Is that available in the settings or not? I could not find. If not, please add it.

There is issue in query input of Perplexity app, after selecting all text in input field it auto deselect and cursor move to end of string.
If we move cursor somewhere in query after that it auto moves to end of string after single Character input.
For example, I wanted to search "where is tajmahal situated?" and also want to copy this query, to paste somewhere else, but make some typo in search query and want to edit after coping all text(with typo), then it doesn't work properly.
Initial Query: Where is taahal situated?
Copy whole text, now edit typo to correct "taahal" to "tajmahal"
it will auto move to end after entering "j"

Was coming here to report the same thing, but I'm just dealing with it by completely deleting text up until that point.

I think it's probably because they aren't using a native text input which gives them the ability to do fancy animations + spell checking, but replicating native text editing isn't simple. I'm noticing it only starts happening when text gets to a second line, so @whoever-will-try-fixing-this I'd start with the responsive/text box resizing handlers, it's probably resetting the cursor position when you resize the box

I'm just gonna type into this message as I find things, I'm a first-time Mac user but I've used the API extensively for work. I normally use Claude for personal use, but I want the web search/flexibility of Perplexity right now.

5. Related to 4, scrolling appears to freeze while the chat is loading; seems like the view rendering and API handling might be happening in the same CPU thread?

At this point, the scrolling issues became too disruptive, especially because I was copy/pasting often into and out of the chat. Model output itself was quite nice, wrapper just needs some polish :)

Hey, I've got 3 bits of feedback regarding my experiences with Perplexity

• Why does the native Perplexity app have take up 2/3 of a window at minimum?
• The Native Perplexity app stalls and crashes when loading an extended thread(aka you're pulling all of the info greedily instead of when required)
• Can we please be kept in the loop via the update notes on what exactly you're updating. It's so ridiculous to read 'bug fixes` in the notes and leave it at that

Of all of these the worst has to be the 2/3 window. It's just not worth having open on the side when working on something else

Any thoughts on creating a PWA I can download directly from Chrome vs. having to maintain support for a whole separate Mac application in the app store? I am using macOS Sonoma 14.5 and Perplexity app of version 1.0.10 (73). It seems when I move to other windows while I’m writing a prompt and go back to the app, the entire text in the prompt area gets deleted. Anyone has the same experience? Hi, thanks for your cool application and services. I would like to report a critical issue of Perplexity for Mac for CJK users. People who speak CJK usually use a software called IME, which allows us to enter Kanji characters. In IME, we first enter characters in the alphabet, then select the kanji we expect from the candidates provided by IME by pressing the space bar, and then press the return key to confirm the selection.

However, in Perplexity for Mac, when we select the target from the list provided by IME, all the characters unexpectedly remain there even though we don't confirm them by pressing Enter. Please have a look at the attached screencast.

This problem makes Perplexity quite difficult to use for IME users in the CJK area. Personally, I'm only using it in English now. I'd really appreciate it if you could fix this. If I can help in any way, I'd be happy to. Thanks!

When using the MaOS desktop app, should I be able to see information about sources cited in the response?

I do see little number linked to the source, but I cannot see anything useful unless/until I click to leave the desktop app for a web browser (revealing the source).

In the online version, I see a snippet about the sources. If I hover on a source, I see more information,

IMO Perplexity's citations are a huge consideration for trusting its answers. The desktop app feels "black box" and not nearly as useful as the web experience.

Not sure if anyone else is experiencing this, but my MacBookPro nearly always crashes after a while when I start the Perplexity app. I think the crash comes sooner if I also use the app after starting it, but the crash is never immediate. Sometimes, it happens just a few minutes after starting the app, sometimes more. The famous spinning wheel comes out and the computer completely freezes and the computer shuts itself down 20 to 30 seconds after the spinning wheel appears. This has been going on for the last two months or so. No crash if I do not open the Perplexity app. I have a 2019 MBP (Intel) with four ports with macOS Sequoia 15.2 installed. I keep the Perplexity app up to date and I currently have Version 1.0.12 (84) installed. I can send one of the crash reports if that would be useful.

The new thread shortcut needs improving in the Mac app. It should behave more like the Chat GPT Mac App quick bar. In Chat GPT, the quick prompt bar does not open the app window, but it expands to include the answer. And when you close it and reopen it with a shortcut, it remains in the last prompt, which is very useful because you can continue from there. It does not create a new thread. In Perplexity, on the other hand, the new thread shortcut, when you send the prompt it opens the app window. And if you close it and recall it with the shortcut, it opens a new thread and does not recall the last one.

Greetings. I love the app and use it often to help me with my work in medical imaging. The one improvement I think would make a big difference for me is how the app displays the images it brings up as illustrations with the text answer. The images are too small when first displayed and clicking on them barely makes them larger in the app. Making images display in a way similar to the web app would make this a 5 star app for my use. It would be nice to have an interface like the web version in the Mac app, have the option to change the model in the pro search in an accessible way, and have the globe with the option to choose whether to use the internet search or not, since I find it annoying to have to change the mode to writing to do searches without internet. Friends, I am at my wits end trying to solve this puzzle - maybe someone can relieve my misery. I use Perplexity on My Macbook Air which is plugged into an Apple Monitor. However, in the entire universe, Perplexity is the only service that doesnt have a scroll function, or if it does- I am that person for whom the UX completely fails. For any query where the result is longer than the screen space.....I cannot see it, get to it, scroll down etc. How do I hack around it? I go to my app, copy it, then email it to myself! Hey! I have a few observations and comments about macOS apps. I hope the developers are reading this 😉

1. Perplexity application opened as new always opens in this minimalist form (attachment). This is my personal preference, but I would see in the settings the possibility to open perplexity always with the sidebar enabled. Functionally, it's probably one key-value extra to remember.

2. I know this is a small thing, but it would be great if from the application menu (top menu status) there was an option to enable settings. I have a nifty menu that I can call up anywhere (attachment), with the sidebar off, I could quickly go to settings (sometimes I need it), instead of turning on the sidebar and going to settings from the icon. Because I have the impression that in this dropdown Pro, there are not always all models. Even without this icon, it is important to access everything from this level.

3. From the web I have access to the icon for changing models from the list where on the mac app side this is not present. Such an icon with all models would be very useful here.

4. Incognito mode is too hidden. Tbh I see it with which corner of the app. From an aesthetics point of view rather in the lower left corner, yet there is room everywhere. Once you get to the window where the AI starts responding, you can give a simple incognito icon with a fine purple background and somewhere to give on the stacks at the top.

5. With a large number of level attachments, scrolling works moderately well. In my opinion, there should be two modes here:
   The first mode is as it is now, horizontal scroll but with no more than 6-10 attachments.
   The second mode activates when the number of attachments in the first mode is exceeded. Then instead of keeping everything in one line make every, say, 10 attachments another new line and another, Horizontal Scroll would stay. This is as one widget so the horizontal scroll would work on all of them at once. 30 attachments = 3 lines

I have also one big problem in my opinion. So when i check WEB i have access to all models like Claude 3.7. In the macOS app Claude 3.7 is not exists and this is not one model but same goes with GPT-4o and R1 1776. What's more strange is that from the chat level I see o3-mini and gemini 2.0 flash in addition to Auto, Pro and deep research, and from the settings level I see Claude 3.5 Sonnet, GPT-4 Omni and Grok-2.

My two questions:

1. why don't I have all models from the macOS app level, but I have from the WEB level?

2. why is there such a discrepancy in models in the macOS app in settings and chat. I associate that the models in the settings are used with the “Pro” option, but I would be happy to use 3.5 Sonnet for reasoning

1. To give you simply the opportunity to save answers related to subjects (simple category classification)
2. To add some files e.g. PDFs or prompt commands which extend or focus on your documents to search on. E.g. you can provide one ore more cookbooks and have the ability to ask primarily questions to the content in your cookbooks

I am not a specialist in sharing, but you will need probably the enterprise version of Perplexity to do so. It IS possible to share some questions/answers publicly I think, but I haven't done myself.

You can share Spaces directly with other users. Once a user is added, you can select “share with space” on a thread for others to see shared threads. At least as I understand the setup currently. Enterprise likely works a little more cohesively since it’s geared towards Teams.

I primarily use the Perplexity AI Windows desktop app, with occasional use of the iPhone app.

Yesterday, I created a Space, then made another with the same name after realizing the first wasn't right. I found I couldn't delete the unwanted Space from the desktop app. I also created some example Spaces (like Perplexity Support, What Would Buffet Say?, LLM Research) and couldn't delete those either.

Online searches and asking Perplexity AI both indicated that deleting Spaces isn't possible from the desktop app. However, on the iPhone app, I discovered I could delete Spaces via the three-dot menu inside each Space.

After deleting Spaces on my iPhone, they disappeared from the app but still appeared in the desktop app's Spaces list. Clicking them gave a "! Cannot view this space" error. Only after fully quitting the desktop app from the System Tray and reopening did the deleted Spaces disappear from the list.

Is there a reason Spaces can be deleted on the iPhone app but not the desktop app, and why do deleted Spaces still appear (with errors) until the app is fully restarted?

I've been using the macOS app and noticed some readability challenges. The text appears quite thin and the line spacing feels a bit tight, which makes it harder to read comfortably. The chat window can get pretty wide too - sometimes over 100 characters per line, where around 60 tends to work better for readability.
Also noticed the text sits quite close to the sidebar edges. When I compare it to ChatGPT and Grok, they seem to handle this nicely with slightly bolder text, more generous spacing, and they limit how wide the text can stretch even in larger windows. Just thought this feedback might be helpful!

Is it just me or is the Perplexity app on Mac using an insane amount of resources? it's always among or my top power hungry app, when it's really just running in the background most of the time.

This is from activity monitor, I have tried reinstalling, and it will go down slightly but eventually the energy impact will go back up again.

I would like to suggest an improvement for the file upload interface in the Perplexity desktop application.

Problem description:
When I upload multiple files to the chat input window, I can only see and remove the first four files. The rest of the uploaded files are hidden from view and cannot be accessed or deleted directly. To remove a file that is not immediately visible, I have to delete the files in front of it one by one until the desired file appears. This makes managing a larger number of uploaded files inconvenient and time-consuming.

Suggestion:
It would be much more user-friendly if the interface allowed:

Scrolling through the list of uploaded files, so all files are visible and can be managed directly.

Alternatively, displaying files in multiple rows or using a dropdown list.

The ability to remove any uploaded file directly, regardless of its position in the list.

If possible, I am attaching a screenshot to illustrate the issue more clearly.

I have multiple feedbacks for both perplexity and perplexity comet which can potentially make it one of the best

1. support for video models on perplexity pro and max

2. Background run capabilities
   Sometimes the prompt takes some time to be processed so the user may close the app and expect the answer when he reopens the app but the app just shows something went wrong

3. the ability to choose the image processing model on the main page only

Comet -

1. interactive control window -
   The browser opens a panel but doesn't control it, rather it opens a new version of it non accessible by user, whereas when we open the tab ourselves and then tell the user to do the thing, it does that in front of our eyes which is much more convenient

2. the ability to do normal searches - the users must not be restricted to the ai only, there must be a toggleable option or any other way such that they can do a normal search too and see all the webpages instead of the AI processing them which is quite annoying some times

3. Teach mode and feedback window - incase the ai doesn't do the job correctly (such as I tried to make it manually send a mail on screen or set a filter in gmail and it failed in both) the users must be given the option to teach the ai for a brief period in which the user can show how to job is done, this can help both improve the browser and user's experience for such repetitive task

I believe that many changes would be good for now, doing that would make the platform one of the best

Please fix this to allow the selection of the space that you would like the conversation to go too.

Clicking Spaces: Takes you to the last space used this should take you to a dashboard of all spaces to allow you to select where you want to go.
You are negating common sense logic here

Bar should be expandable:
Users will sometimes want to manage their Conversations from the bar.
Conversations that are added to a Space should be removed from the Main Library list as they are cataloged. They should become visible again when the Space is selected
This is basic User Experience stuff guys!

Extend this to allow the user to assign a multi selection of conversations to a Space or Spaces.
Conversations should be allowed to exist in multiple spaces and manipulation of organization of conversation is key to a satisfactory user experience.
These things are hard to implement if you rely on AI coding to structure functionality via prompt. Traditional Engineering will plan for this kind of refactor.

Provide a refresh button:
Assigning a conversation to a space does not refresh after assignment.
The app needs to be shut down and restarted in order to see the assignment.
Of course this would be moot if the conversation was removed from the list and only displayed when the space was selected. Again more thought required on how a user will work with large numbers of conversations that will accrue after months of using perplexity. There is not enough effective application of ux design here.

Hey fam, so I was using Comet just now and ran into a slight issue. I wanted the assistant to complete a simple task - add a new folder in Google drive titled "Chapter 1 RaE" for some reason, it was having issues inputting the desired value into the Folder name. I would watch it think, it would continue troubleshooting the problem, going back and forth. After trying to do the same thing for a few minutes, it gave me this response: "hitting a technical limitation with my browser controls: the rename field isn’t honoring select-all/delete and instead prepends/appends text, so I can’t reliably replace the existing name from here." just something to share. Might be an input quirk thru Google or something on Comet's end. just thought Id share 👍

I have a Pro account, but the other day I accidentally clicked the Enterprise mode button, and since then the app always starts in Enterprise mode. I can’t switch back to user mode — there’s no option or button that I can find. Why does perplexity lie about what it promises to do? So I'm pretty sure I found a bug on macOS. If the perplexity app loses focus while your editing a prompt then all your changes are lost. (I'm pretty sure this is not intentional as this feels like losing data )

To reproduce this behavior, 0) open the perplexity app on macOS 1) enter a prompt and get a result. 2) right click on your prompt and select edit. 3) make some changes to your prompt but do not submit it. 4) click on another application so that perplexity loses focus. 5) notice how all your edits are lost.

I think it would be great if the edits would remain while the perplexity app loses focus. This way, you can edit a prompt and copy-paste snippets of text from other applications. Right now, my work-around is to write the prompt in a separate text editor and copy-paste it into perplexity at the end. (this feels clunky but it's absolutely worth doing to prevent data loss)

Recently using Comet I saw something a bit strange and I don't know if it's from my end or others have seen this too, but when watching a YouTube video (a general 1080p60 resolution) the video does not seem moving at 60fps, it seems "laggy" or being between 30-50 fps to say so.

I tried scheduling tasks and it’s very compelling - except it’s missing one thing!

TASKS + AGENT MODE. What good is knowledge in a task if it’s not put to use or applied.

A simple task like “post daily market summary to my discord” fails because the tasks are stuck on LLM protocols instead of agentic protocols.

Really if perplexity wants to beat chrome (which I hope they do) the Agentic AI will
Be critical for them.

Another gripe is that I run multiple emails and I find it sending emails from my primary instead of secondary or tertiary emails. So the agent fails to send in the right email account / thread due to multiple gmails.

Loving the native feel of the Mac app — but a few missing basics really slow down deep-dive use:
• Search inside a conversation: we can search Libraries, but not within a single chat. For long research threads, this is critical.
• Sidebar history limit: only a handful of past chats show. Let us scroll or load more without digging through the Library.
• No scrollbar in conversations: makes navigating long threads painful — please add a draggable scrollbar or “jump to top/bottom” option.

These are small changes that would make a huge difference for anyone using Perplexity seriously for research or long projects. 🙏

How do I sync Comet tabs and tab groups between computers as I switch between desktop and laptop?

I have been using Workona extension as a work around for the past few months as Comet didn’t have this feature initially.

I asked Perplexity today and it said Comet has added this feature and I should look under Account Settings, I did and I couldn’t find anything related to syncing tabs.

Can someone please let me know if this feature is available and how to enable it. Thanks 🙏🏽

I think they should improve this, but like I use Comet and when I want to open some link, for example. The Hindu newspaper does not provide a link to open the app and instead tells me about the newspaper.

When I use Comet voice assistant on desktop (Mac), it won't recognize input from my Airpods Max - my system settings are set to Airpods Max (volume test works), I even have it set in the Comet browser settings. But both the Comet assistant and Grok don't recognize input. I have to use my laptop's microphone and receive responses out loud on the speakers. Super frustrating.

My perplexity just autoscrolls to the top of the previous prompt, whenever I scroll my mouse wheel button until i see the previous prompt, for example, if i'm on my current prompt, and i scrolled a bit too up, where i can see the previous prompt, it will automatically teleport me to the top of the previous prompt, this is really annoying, and sometimes when they teleport me to the previous prompt without me wanting to do it, i don't like this feature, i'm guessing this is not a bug but a feature, but i don't really enjoy it, if anyone of you know how to disable it please tell me

Hey Guys, I don't know if anyone reported this earlier or not but the "webhook" page is way off on UX. This is on the status page, probably there are multiple themes and they are overriding each other to get to this mess. The inputs don't have labels or placeholders, the "customize" button is partially hidden and the "Big white button" has not visible text - so IDK what it does unless I check the DOM.

This might not be a perplexity specific issue, but it slows me down as I try to subscribe to events/incidents like the one we are having right now.

Started to use Comet and few weeks later you guys started to email me offering a reward to invite my friends. I was already with a few referrals when I discovered that my account was unable to redeem the promised rewards because I use apple private login. Support offered me to change my account for standard email but without my old data and without any referrals rewards. Feel like I was fooled by Perplexity, kind of dishonest offer.
