Claude 2.1 has a slight edge over GPT 4 (Turbo) because it seems to be more specialised in text processing thus more accurate answers. Especially with the recent release cutting down hallucinations into half.

I am close to getting an authoritative answer to this question that i posted a few days ago. Also, i used Claude 2.1 for the model, and it did not include the results in the response, but it did refer to them with words, which i have not seen before.
According to perplexity, bing is used for all searches, and changing the focus to youtube does not make perplexity use the youtube search engine. If this is true, then i assume that it also uses bing for academic articles and for Reddit

One of my recent interactive learning sessions with Perplexity.ai:
Recently I had an interaction with Perplexity asking about Quantum Computing. I knew that the state of the Qubit was part of the change to a binary (base 2) system based on there being a charge or not. I assumed it would make it a base 4 system, but I learned that was not the case.
I then tried to better understand where we are with creating Quantum Networks only to find out there are physical limitations that prevent quantum networks from existing as of yet.
Finally I assumed that Fiber Optic could be used with different colors (wavelengths) of light might allow for faster data transfer, but learned there is already a wavelength-division multiplexing technique (knowing there is FDMA and TDMA already in use allowed me to grasp a general understanding of this).

Most API providers tend to give access to just LLM models and if you wanted to do something similar to what perplexity is doing, you had to search, index and summarize on your own
Doesn't mean that there's going to be no impact. Perplexity might also add access to the pplx-70b-online to the website
Especially if it performs better than GPT 3.5 like they claim

And the answer wouldn't be incorrect. A quick rewrite might help or a query edit.

It looks promising to do quick research.
Both of these technologies can work together really well.
- Checking ideas on Perplexity
- Expanding ideas on ChatGPT.
I see that Claude is not paying much attention to what I say; too general; on the other hand, Claude 2.1 provides as much information as possible in a short period.
ChatGPT is too slow, but keep the context on nicely.

I'll post my latest effort later, it's getting more reliable but the experimental model does not like my current prompt. I am only working on image generation prompting cause' the current UI for generating detailed prompts isn't that great. I'm glad someone else is having a go too, different minds bring different ideas. I can't find much info "system trigger/instruction" words, possibly because that's not actually a thing, so I'm stumbling about in the dark a bit, but getting closer to a solid repeatable set of questions and options. Just asked DuckDuckGo to include Perplexity as a bang to their search engine. I think it would be useful for DuckDuckgo users and drive some additional traffic to perplexity. Even though i use perplexity for most of my information requests, i still use duck duck go for navigating to domains i dont remember. I have nearly replaced Google searches with perplexity for my normal searches for things that simply let me save a lot of time, as an example of use I read a lot and lately a lot of paranormal romance or urban fantasy, but living in Spain it is more complex to follow up all the authors I like and their books series, so I use perplexity a lot to give lists of the series of an author ordered by critics and each on publication year of every book, or a list of every last book of each author, or similar searches, it helps me to select my next reading on 5 minutes instead of opening a lot of browser tabs and compare them etc. ❤️ Making daily trivial searches on this way let me use less the pc or mobile and living more ☺️

Just now getting Perp set up, and one thing that's already helpful with the writing I do is to have a thread where you can submit a one-word prompt and get back a definition and synonyms. Massive time-saver compared to the search engine dance of trying to guess which top result is going to have what you need. Setting it up was super simple:
I am setting up this thread as a place to quickly find definitions and synonyms for words I submit. For every word I give you, I would like: 1) a brief definition, and 2) an unordered list of 20 synonyms. Sound good?
Now any time I need an alternate word for something I can just submit it to the same thread, which I named 'Synonyms'.

So far for me, I think it's the clear sourcing. It feels a bit like I've just turned to an assistant and said, "Hey, look into this for me and summarize what you find."
Even if it doesn't find what I need, the fact that it includes the sources helps me know what a given segment of the web is thinking on a topic.

I've mentioned in another thread that I started using Perplexity exclusively for things that I would normally turn to Google for (continuing this for a full week to report my thoughts on my website) ... And this might not be new to some of the more experienced people in the group, but thought I'd share.
One of my favorites bits about perplexity is it's ability to run comparisons and essentially tackle what would be multiple different searches all at one time.
For example, I've been in the market for a new phone and entire cell phone plan.. I told perplexity this, that it needed to have 2 unlimited lines, and that I was wanting to take advantage of any deals on the S24 phones for both lines.
Perplexity broke down Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile - the cost per lines and all the available deals on the S24 devices with those companies, all in an instant..and with a great deal of accuracy (I know because I did the tiresome manual process of figuring this all out prior to turning to perplexity 😅😢).. It had basically turned what was about 45-minutes of manual research into a 3-minute process!
