As i say, you're unlikely to find anyone on here that wont tell you to buy it ^^ It's still in EA, the devs are very receptive (And already included a good number) Of community suggestions, it gets frequent updates (6 major updates since January 2024)

To answer your questions. When are quests not repetitive? Everything is kill this, pick up that, go sit by a tree and ponder life BUT the world is hand crafted so you'll always be presented with something new.
There is no gameplay 'loop' It's a quest system in a vast open environment, which again, is still in EA so hasn't got an 'end' for there to be any kind of loop. If you're looking for something to keep you playing and building is your cup of tea... then you'll put too many hours into the game than you'd care to admit.

I mean I see what you're trying to say but it's just not really accurate, it's in no way more profitable to update a game in early access than it is to update it after a full release. The way the Steam early access works is that it treats both early access and 1.0 releases as "new releases" in their algorithm, so both are big boosts to the attention the game gets. The reason you'll see games sit in early access for a while is because they want the game to be as good as possible for that 1.0 release, because the better the game is, the more people will be interested in buying it.

I can explain how it worked for Enshrouded pretty simply because it's not really a grand conspiracy or anything. We worked on the game unreleased for several years, and once we felt it was in a good enough state for players to enjoy we released it into early access, both to get feedback and to obviously get some sales to make up for the losses of working on the game for so long.

We didn't honestly expect to have significant success at first, and our initial plan was to aim for roughly 1 year of early access. This means that the game wouldn't have honestly gotten all that much additional content before reaching 1.0. But the success of early access meant that we were able to drastically expand the scope of what we wanted the game to be, which is why the date has gotten pushed back to quite a bit further than a year.

But it has nothing to do with wanting to stay in early access longer, it's all about wanting the game to be as good as it can be for our eventual 1.0 release. That makes far more money than early access updates do, at least when a game isn't live service like ours.

the TL;DR is the reason games sit in early access for so long is not because early access itself is profitable, it's because you can only "leave" early access once, and it's an extremely important milestone. Steam treats both early access releases and 1.0 releases as "new games" in their algorithm, so the 1.0 release is your last chance to be a truly big push in the Steam algorithm.

Games sit in early access for as long as they can because they want that final push to be as strong as they can make it.

But yeah, no devs are intentionally making their development slow to "stay in early access longer" or something, that wouldn't really make any sense. From the player point of view the label doesn't honestly mean anything, it's purely subjective when devs decide to leave early access.

But I do have one bug to report as we cannot farm Ancient Spire - Albaneve, as you can go through the roof and instantly you will be teleported back to the very first Spire where you start the game. o.o

Yeah my advice with early access (and what I do) is to always just buy a game based on the state it's currently in, regardless of what labels it may or may not have.

Back on The Forest there was a guy who used to do that regularly. He had a save file with a base built up, and he'd host it every night and let whatever randos join it and try to do community projects. If they came on with cheat engine and blew everything up he'd just go offline for like 2 minutes and replace the save file

Short answer is we don't know what form it will take, just that it's on the roadmap ^^

The in game lore reason is that the shroud is a fungus, and it absorbed all the water as it grew, leaving the deep valleys you see around the world. It also releases that water as a mist which contains the spores, which is why the shroud is harmful

The actual technical reason is they're still figuring out how to add voxel water in their custom engine and make it look good without turning people's PCs into air fryers xD

if I understand it right. the game was built with the idea that water was challenging and just decided to make it around 'no water'. I suspect retroing for water will be challening but I will hope for the best!. I would take any type of water even non physics water.

Yeah more or less. Basically they're working in a custom voxel engine they designed themselves, and making water and making it look good while keeping the game running smoothly is a pretty tall task

A dehumidifier helps a lot, makes the inside of the house feel much cooler without having to turn the AC up.

I mean we have two things that help considerably: 1 big stone walls that mean the heat transfer happens very gradually and the house remains cool if there is no direct sunlight, hence shutters, and 2 we have dehumidifiers because Normandy is wet wet wet and after everyone's had a run in the shower it's a bit muggy

but yeah I guess timber frame US houses just don't have that advantage

ye we're very happy we found this place

found out that the Valheim team was using them

it's cool that everyone can come in and see what's being suggested without needing passwords or registering or what-have-you, it ensures the suggestions are truly platform-agnostic

and not, say, what your reddit players think is cool, or what the discord players think is best

note that ideas are manually approved, so it might take a few days up to a couple weeks to get through the backlog of other ideas (mostly, really, to weed out duplicates)
