An API is a way for two applications to communicate with eachother. That's not what we've been doing. What we need is direct access to the I/O part of the Kernel for fast processing, and they changed that alot, mostly for the worse, with Win11 compared to Win10.

And in either case, the Win11 thing is no longer my problem come Monday, so I'm kind of letting that go by now. It's someone else's problem from then on.

I have a chronic intestinal issue with no real treatment because I ignored abdominal pain in hs. My husband could have died from his appendix bursting but was one of the lucky ones where your intestines form a protective barrier around the infection. Yeah I went and had some tests and a colonoscopy. They gave me some drugs that took away some of the pain but were a huge inconvenience to take and then just shrugged. I should probably try to get a referral to a different dr

You should absolutely do that. I had to go through a bunch of doctors to get them to do ALL the tests, and I wouldn't quit until they found the problem. Some were like "Yeah take this pill and get out of my face" kind of doctors, but since that didn't help, I pushed on. I suggest you do the same. Most of your well-being comes from your gut health, and it's not to be joked around with. Even if I got the Crohn's disease diagnosis, that will eventually/probably kill me in the end, it's nice to know what's up, and have a plan to combat it.

Nah the "damage" is not "done". Don't worry about it. Modern medical science will get you sorted out, as long as you don't give up.

What you need to do is just be persistent, and don't accept an asprin and a pat on the shoulder, until they fix it.

In my case I got a diagnosis that said "yep, this will kill you eventually!", and my only reaction to that is "how do I make it not do that in the near future?" and they helped me out, and I'm ticking along just fine, and I expect to keep doing so as long as I keep to the program. Just don't accept an aspirin or whatever junk they try to sell you, and only accept a solution to what's going on with you, and a plan to make it go away.

So the amount of management bureaucracy is insane.

There's isn't a good way to farm it really, just find places there's a good number of bee hives like the area outside the Vault where you find the Blacksmith, drop an alter nearby (but not on top of them), then harvest them, relog to reset them, rinse and repeat. Once you get the bee hives from the Farmer though you will have more wax and honey that you will ever need. It's feast or famine.

Maybe I was even one of the first ones infected (thanks job) and thus was resistent later on. Was a 1-2 weeks sick right when this started

Overall I've only died in combat thrice, only once from a boss and it was because it had no poison resistance

Well the good news is we plan to add both more bosses and more difficulty options in the future :)

but yeah, I think for experienced players in these kinds of genres of game a lot of the fights can feel easy in their current state.

I have a feeling those ticks are the #1 reason why people hate the mistlands.

It's everything. The entire biome.

Let's populate the entire area with cliffs, while giving you no vertical movement tools.
Let's make you jump everywhere, which costs stamina, while fighting, which costs stamina, frequently when wet, which costs stamina, and you're being attacked by enemies that instantly reduce your stamina to zero if they hit you, and once they hit you, you can't hit them because they're stuck to you.
Did we mention that attacking, running, jumping or blocking all cost stamina?
Oh and we're going to fill the entire zone with mist to the point you can't see more than 5m in front of you, so you can't even pathfind through the cliffs, nor find resource deposits, nor see enemies coming.
FYI some of those enemies are flying blimps that chase you and murder you with fireballs, and you can't get away because of the aforementioned stamina issues.
And sure, let's populate the zone with NPCs that, yeah, fight the bugs. But if you accidentally swing your sword and clip one, they all turn on you and instagib you.
And to progress, let's put items in the dungeons, and have maybe 2-4 dungeons per section of the biome, but not every dungeon is certain to even have any of these items at all. Did we mention we filled the biome with mist so you can't find them?

I feel like whoever is developing Valheim doesn't understand the semantically small, but incredibly significant, difference between "Challenging" and "Infuriating".

My partner and I were really enjoying our co-op playthrough together, but we hit Mistlands and she just stopped. It wasn't fun.

Hello! Probably don't need to say it, but I'm new around here. Been loosely following along with the game since before it dropped into early access, but didn't have a system that could run it or the funds to get it until a bit ago when I got it as a birthday gift from one of my friends. Been playing it a bunch, and it's been really fun! I think I've gotten pretty far, but I'm not sure exactly how much content is in the game currently, so I could be wrong.

I mean the line is also different for different people. I loved playing starcraft 2 Multiplayer. This shit can be challenging or down right making one ready for the psychiatry.

At least Dark Souls is honest about what you're going to experience, from basically the first loading screen. Valheim is a lovely game that can be tricky, but never really rage-inducing, for 4 full biomes before you hit the Mist.

They did this in the Mountain biome, with potions that prevented you taking freezing damage, then you killed enough wolves to make a fur cloak, and then the cold never bothered you again.

The only similar thing you get in Mistlands is a feather cloak which gives you feather-fall, so you can jump off cliffs and float down. But it 1. makes you vulnerable to fire damage (remember the blimps in the sky? Now they one-shot you.) and 2. needs stamina to work (see wall of text).

I would rectify that by adding an ointment or something that makes you immune to ticks and also something that increases stamina regen rate or something, either a consumable or equipable gear.

And maybe also a magical helmet or spell that lets you see through or temporarily dispels mist

Oh there's loads of fixes they could make. Loads. But the direct line from the Devs is "We want Valheim to be hard".

It's not hard. There is very little that skill can do to solve any of the above problems. What you've done is make it grindy and painful, regardless of my ability at the game.
