i would assume it's not even really on the radar or a priority because you can unstuck usually by just restarting the game, and respawn at the nearest/last flame altar

plus in most cases the fast travel in the game or a pick axe/double jump etc. can resolve issues too

it would just be redunant layering on top of decent methods that already exist to become to unstuck

i'd assume the devs would like to fix bugs/glitches that cause players to get stuck in the first place more 😄

At the moment, sometimes the only way to get unstuck is to alt-F4/force-close the game, which is inadvisable except when you have no other option, since the game might not be able to complete whatever processes it needs to and could cause file corruption or improper saves. Sometimes they can be resolved, sometimes not, which is why I asked Toast. 😛

If it happens to be writing a save file to disk at the exact millisecond and writes half of a line say in a Database and gets killed precisely then and... yeah it's very unlikely to cause an issue especially if you haven't changed anything in game for a few seconds. This is why games crash all the time and don't get corrupted.

I'm definitely in favor of an unstuck that travels you to a nearby point where you can stand. Most times when people get stuck, they're out exploring and having to re-travel to those locations from an altar kind of sucks.

I don't think you need to worry about the shroud in that scenario, because you'd almost certainly be still in the shroud after using the unstuck feature.

Many games do it this way, kind of an "up and over a few feet" usually with progressive timers depending on how frequently you use them.

It's less about save corruption and more about ease of use, there have been a LOT of reports of people "infinite falling", which feels bad on its own. If they can get rid of 99% of those cases then an unstuck might not be necessary, but it's a fine bandaid to have, especially in early access.

i think the few feet option is excessive tbh, if that's the case it should be an admin console thing, where you can just no clip and fly out of it or something. ie. but i can't remember the last time i needed a stuck option in any game i played... it's been over 15 years or something, becuase usually dying just does the trick and you go back and get your stuff. no biggie.

same with save corruptions, these happened more in the past

the game should realize the save was interrupted and automatically use the last viable save... and that's where save back ups come into play

They aren't common, but they do happen. they happened more in the past because computers were slower, more chances for it to happen when the game saves for 10 seconds instead of 1, but the chance is still there.

Sorry to hear that this happened to you. The game automatically does keep backup saves of your world, though, and it is possible to get what you had back as long as it was saved previously.

It's a bit funky though, as you can't do it from inside the game and have to do it from the filesystem. this guide does a good job at explaining how the saves and backups work:

Not really, best way I clear larger amounts is use the Foundation shape place and delete. Also helps to keep thing squared up. But it still takes time.

I haven't had to use soil a single time, for it to work. If you need soil, then you shouldn't be able to plant at all

You can place it in dirt or sand aswell its just slower but it does need to have a depth of 2 blocks atleast

If you have only 1 block of dirt and 1 block of stone under it you can have a hard time planting things

the only times i experienced the issue you are having is when there is only 1 block of depth of growable soil (dirt, sand, farm soil, fertilized farm soil)

What I'm trying to say that even if it doesn't look aligned from the outside, it is aligned to the grid. The 2D grid gets warped while trying to account for the bumps in the 3rd dimension. It's a cosmetic issue, it won't go away until you make the ground flat. Functionally, you can still use the entirity of the grid, i.e., even if it looks overlapped, you'll be able to place the same amount of plants in an area as you would if it looked good.

Depends on where u are sometimes dirt can go pretty deep and sometimes it can be directly under 1 or 2 blocks of dirt

Also if u place soil correctly you allready have 2 blocks of depth but if u place it like half in the stone u dont

Other than furnishing items and a few other things, everything in this game, including the terrain is on a grid. Each cube of the grid is the size of the small singular block that you can place down. No block can be rotated or moved off of that grid in any way. Terrain can kinda "stretch" and mold itself to the blocks around it to make it less blocky and more natural looking but each of those blocks are still present.

I'm not sure what you are trying to align with the wall though.

if it's the road, that's the "molding and stretching" I was talking about, where it rounds off to the next block. you'll have to modify the road, not the wall.

3 of the original skill points were bugged on release, meaning you could reach 114. At HH release, they fixed 2 of the bugs (but you still kept the skill points until you respecced.) Upon the Mire release they fixed the final bugged skill point AND took away any allocated bugged points, meaning your max was down to 111 as originally intended. But also, with the release of the Mire, they brought in 3 shroud roots which once collected, bring the total back up to 114. I expect a point or 3 of your allocated points were bugged ones and you hadn't collected all of the original skill points, find a map that shows them all and double check you've collected them all ^^

A few updates ago they removed a bug that was giving 3 extra skill points. It's possible you may have been noticing that in the point differences. As Rik mentioned I would check to make sure you have all the roots and wells. The max should be 114 now when you include the 3 new roots in the new area.

this game is alot of fun but one part of it that really needs a rework is the healing part. My friend loves to heal in every game and its just not easy to do. Im sure i can come up with suggestions. would also like to have higher health pools so that healing feels more useful to the overall experience. as it stands the potions are the way to go.
