GOODBYE dragonborn / WELCOME flameborn --- i' ve played elder scrolls online (ESO) for 5 years now (Skyrim was my first love a decade ago) and yesterday i bought the latest chapter of ESO and was greeted with Addons error (which takes me hours to personalize) and i got this dreading feeling of Deja-vu landscape, boring prologue quests and Store price are ridiculous, still ...ever since i've played Enshrouded this April, i lost all interest in ESO (i only play PVE i hate PVP) - no double jump, no pickaxing you' re way out of a spot, no glider traveling - Housing decoration is great fun in ESO but still you must pay for it, by buying Crowns from the Store and you cannot build from scratch, brick by brick, like Enshrouded (you can only purchase a house, then fill it up with furniture or place pre-made walls and doors if you want to expand within the house perimeter) - ESO does have texture items, Enshrouded doesnt: such as smoke and vapor and water items (fountains, bathtubs, cascades) that are big miss in Enshrouded !!!

As far as I am aware, it's a different connector, and a 550w PSU will not be enough to run a 4070 GPU. You need a PSU with a pcie 5 connector. These are a specific power connector that will supply enough power to the 4000 series GPUs (all following GPUs will use them as will I believe).

it should come with an adapter to convert 2 pcie 8 pins to the 12vhpwr connector, nvidia recommends a 650w minimum psu to run the card though. If you can afford it I would go with a pcle gen 5 psu cause then you can use a single cable from psu to graphics card instead of using the adapter (EDIT: also your psu shouldve came with enough cables to fill every slot on it, do you have the original box? you could check and see if you have an extra 8pin cable in there to save a bit of money)

550w is very low for a psu especially when looking at a 4070 or 7700xt. I would highly recommend upgrading it. It depends on your psu if it is modular it may have another spot to plug in a 8 pin cable.

Over 6 hours in surgery and I felt like roasted shit afterwards.

To be fair, the points of concern were not due to the surgery... But the damage that made surgery necessary.

Healthy yes but Im 37 so things don't bounce back like they used too. I completely split the acl and mcl in half. Insurance wanted rehab and my dr was like "...there's literally no ligament to rehab."
Ah well, as long as I can walk in the next several months I'll make do. Rodeo season is def over though, at least for this year.

people used to say that back in the day but the pc only used 350 watts when people were recommending 750 for my system

it never got to 750, not even under load

yeah it seems even my latest PC, 5950x and 3080 ti doesn't go over 350 watts

1000w isn’t needed. Those calculators are all inaccurate, basing wattage on the max rated wattage of each component, which will never happen under normal or even extreme usage (for something like gaming, your cpu and gpu won’t both be drawing maximum wattage at the same time).

like CPU 16 cores pulls 90 watts maximum

according to maximum stats on HWINFO for the cpu package

the GPU pulls 160 watts maximum

this is even less wattage than back in the day, 11 years ago, when my PC was pulling 350 watts

and yet these are 50x better processors and gpus

stands the reason power consumption got better over time and not worse, despite the increased performance.

not sure why anyone would need 1000 watt PSU unless it was somehow for the gold/platinum ratings or priced better

i'd imagine 160+90(+80 for a high end motherboard?) + whatever value is negligible for a M.2 drive still won't make 350 watts.

a lot of people commenting that you need to "future proof" your build... but unless that means buying a new CPU and GPU in the future the power requirements for what you have will never increase.

Writing a new story is almost always better. Doing reboots seems like recycling and too lazy to write a fully new movie. I guess a reboot will be better than no movie as long as they do a good job. Sometimes remade movies are awful and tarnish the reputation of the original, I use the Amazon Rings of Power as 1 prime example that wasn't a remake, but still has turned out awful.
