Have you been playing on public servers? That is not really the ideal way to play the game. Not that you're not allowed to do that, it just kinda breaks a lot of the quest progression, and it's very easy for players to grief each other in public worlds so it's not a popular way to play. Most people on their first playthrough either play solo with a world and character they create, or in a private lobby with a group of friends.

We might have more support for a "public server" playstyle in the future, but it hasn't been a priority in development yet so right now it's honestly a fairly broken experience.

So I'd recommend either playing solo, or finding a group you can play with and progress together.

So it 100% makes sense that the experience would feel really bad or pointless to you. 1. Game isn't live service and 20k players after 8-9 weeks is still "good", more will come back after the update.
2. The game didn't even release yet. Why bother now for player count, if ever? It sold 2 million copies, it's a success right now for an indie studio.
3. If you don't like it, stop spoiling it for others, who have fun. What does that give to u?
4. Search for people who don't rush progression (which seems to be the case), recruit a group of friends on your own. I have a blast with my friends, albeit we take it slow. The life is a experience to be enjoyed, not rushed.
5. Come back, when the new quest progression has been implemented / more updates have come or refund it. Game will be here in a year still.

Yeah I mean in terms of development playercount is effectively irrelevant for us financially as a studio. Not being a live service game player retention doesn't exactly "matter" in a financial sense. Not that we don't love to see lots of people playing our game, just that player counts don't really reflect how well it's doing.

As for how well it's doing, incredibly well. Far exceeding our expectations as a relatively small studio. 2 million copies completely blew our initial goals out of the water and means we are very comfortable to support and update Enshrouded for a long long time

Yeah mostly just pointing that out because I think for many people live service games are the majority of their experience with gaming, and in that case player counts are an extremely good reflection of the lifespan/future of a live service game. The saves themselves are "slot based" and have a naming convention to them - like slot 1 is 3ad85aea, slot 2 is 3bd85c7d (there is a full list of them if you search for it on google)

You can rename a save file to go in another slot, but it will overwrite whatever was in there, so be careful with that and always back up the folder before messing around with it. 🙂

As I understand it, when you take down your flame altar, anything you've built or changed remains until the world resets, right? So if I pick up the altar, then put it back, say, in a different position but with the old construction still inside the build aura, will the old construction still get reset?

As long as you stay in the area and don't restart the game, yes (your build will stay) - but I would still back up your save folder to do it, since if you crash or something happens, everything would be gone.

This may be a common question but how does your melee weapon affect your casted magic/bow attacks? I see weapons with shroud magic damage or fire damage and wondering if they buff respected range attacks as well. And if so, do multiple equipped weapons stack to this effect?

Oh i have same "Anti Fog in Rooms" Tips for you. I did while building some testing and what helps a lot is to have room seperators. Means thicker walls, and between rooms its enough to have 1-2 block wide hollow rooms. It kinda looks like that the fog is trapped in other rooms. for example if you have a main room in the middle and it would be closed and one block thin walls it would have much white and bright fog. the same room with maybe other rooms next to it and thicker walls with a gap in between rooms resulted in a almost not visible transparent fog. dunno exactly why it behaves like that but that helped a lot to reduce it.

Yeah I wasn't really a fan of having to have specific "firebreaks" for fog, as I like to build for the looks.. I only begrudgingly added separate rooms to the original plan of having a longhall type design, but even that is lacking.

I will try out the reshade that timberlake suggested but if that doesn't work I will just wait for mod support or an official fix before playing

I'll just say I don't care. I think the game has more pressing matters than "ambience" at the moment. Which doesn't mean I want to talk down the fog, it's just very difficult to keep the ambience "outside" of the fog intact while you have to craft around player-built buildings to get said fog out. Thus will take time out from other issues.

It's, to strenghten the point, not that I don't understand the issue.
But for me it's nothing of importance. It does not even disturb my vision of the world, because somehow I feel the shade/fogs do belong into a world Enshrouded.

Did you ever manage to get a better screenshot? That one you sent is undeniably janky, but it also doesn't seem like what I normally see. Usually fog in buildings is just a bit of stray stuff in the corners or whatever, but half your building seemed full of it lol

Does it look like that to your friends too, or only on your client?

Nope. I don't have these density of fog either.
