The Vencord userscript doesn't activate at canary.discord.com on firefox-138.0.3-1.fc42. violentmonkey-2.31.0.xpi's popup/index.html states:

So the problem happened a while ago, my discord on my desktop just stopped working. I uninstalled it and ever since then when I tried to redownload it, it keeps saying "failure to install". I've been just using the browser to use discord. I now have had an idea that maybe having the vencord plugin is making the installation for discord to not work. I then went to try to delete it, but found out that I couldn't. All of the research I made onto how to delete vencord have been vague and unhelpful... A clear and simple step-by-step explanation to delete it would help a lot! Thanks! :)

Ive looked through FAQ etc, and like im pretty sure this is caused by vencord but im dumb so. The issue is that i have rtc connecting issues, ive uninstalled discord and vencord, reinstalled them like reinstalled the downloader as well. Discord on its own also has the issue but like im desperate at this point.

The website of discord works fine. Upon reinstalling there is no issue again for like a day and then its back again and i cant connect at all. Resetting discord doesnt help- resetting doesnt even reset, i press ctrl+R and it goes to a grey screen and doesnt come back, i have to close the whole app and then reopen and issue still there.
Sorry if this isnt a vencord thing but like ive scoured the internet for solutions outside of vencord going back to those people asking help 12y ago solutions which dont help. Ive tried uninstalling plugins to see if thats the issue it wasnt, sorry for paragraph

hey i got a problem with my vencord

everytime i try to send a gif it always turns into a embed fail , basically im just having fun with my friends and were sending eachother stupid dumb shit like usual , now i try to send a funny gif , out of nowhere my gif perms break? in normal discord i can use gifs perfectly fine but in vencord i for some reason cant use like 99% of gifs since they will be a embed fail

**About the new whitelist system for external resources in Vencord themes **

As someone who actively develops and maintains custom themes for Discord, I want to share my concerns about the recent change that restricts external resources to only a few whitelisted domains (like i.imgur.com, GitHub, and Catbox).
I get that it’s meant to improve security, but this change causes a lot of issues for theme creators and power users. I understand that the motivation behind this change is to improve security — and I absolutely support that goal. But the current implementation is far too limiting and has serious downsides for theme developers like myself.

1. It breaks a lot of existing themes
Themes that used images from previously acceptable hosts (like cdn.discordapp.com, ibb.co, or even some self-hosted domains) now just break with no warning. This affects a lot of older and widely used themes.

2. It's unnecessarily restrictive
While i.imgur.com, GitHub, and Catbox are decent options, forcing everyone to move their assets there is annoying and creates extra work for creators who were using other CDNs or hosting services that were perfectly safe and stable.

3. There's no opt-out or override option
Right now, users have no way to allow other domains manually or disable the whitelist. This is frustrating for advanced users who know what they’re doing and are willing to accept the risks for the sake of flexibility.

4. It slows down theme development
For creators who like to quickly test new backgrounds or assets from any source, this whitelist system adds unnecessary friction. Instead of just trying a link, now we have to rehost the file and make sure it’s on an approved domain. (I often test background images, textures, or UI elements quickly using external links. Now, every time I want to preview a visual change, I have to upload the asset somewhere approved, which slows everything down and makes the workflow more tedious.)

5. It doesn’t actually stop real security threats
The “malicious code” you’re trying to stop doesn’t live in normal .png or .jpg images. The real risk comes from SVGs with embedded scripts, shady CSS @import URLs, or actual JS injection. Blanket-blocking image links is not real protection — it just punishes everyone while attackers can still find other ways around it.

6. . Not all blocked domains are unsafe
I get blocking sketchy or unknown domains, or SVGs with embedded JS — but cdn.discordapp.com is Discord’s own CDN, and many developers (including me) use it to host UI assets, icons, and more. Blanket blocking it makes no sense, especially when it's used in a trusted environment.

Suggestions:

• Add a toggle for advanced users to disable the whitelist check, with a warning.
  Something like: “Allow non-whitelisted domains for themes (not recommended)”.

• Or allow custom domains to be added manually by the user.

• If security is the goal, then instead of blanket-blocking domains, consider filtering based on file types or adding CSP-like checks for known malicious patterns (e.g., SVG with scripts).

Again, I fully respect the effort to make Vencord safer, but this change might help protect users in theory, but in practice it’s punishing people who are building value for the community. Theme creators need flexibility — and we’re also capable of managing our own risk when given the choice.

Please consider giving users more control or at least expanding the whitelist to include safe but commonly used domains like cdn.discordapp.com.

I hope you’ll consider giving back some control to the users who want it.

looked around, seems like this bug has not been mentioned, and this seems to be the correct place to report it.
I have been having an issue with the plugin Better Folders since my discord upgraded to the new design (I use it via Firefox).
Everything works properly but the "notification" badge in channels.

So for example, on the sidebar, for example, I properly get a folder with let's say 9 mentions, I open the folder and it properly opens the 2nd side bar with the servers inside and their notification badges saying which servers have mentions for me.

But when I open the server, I cannot see which channel has the mention.

If I scroll to the point that said channel is away, I do get the notification of the direction of the mention like in the first screenshot I took, but when I reach the point where it's on screen, there is no sign of which channel is it, I can only deduce by the position of where the "toast-like message" "X NEW MENTIONS" sign was dismissed.

So for example, in the 2nd screenshot, the "toast-like message" is now gone, but there is no sign of which channel has the mentions.

A server with fewer channels won't allow me to scroll away for obvious reasons, so I would have to click every channel to find it out.

Hey! Since the new CSP rules have been merged (#3162) it's now impossible to use self-hosted instances of Vencloud. I'd much prefer not to use the official instance and continue using my own instance. Would automatically adding the domain entered for the custom instance to the CSP list be considered? If not then the option for it should be removed since it's currently useless, although, I and other more privacy-conscious users would be heavily disappointed.

because of #theme-support message loading resources from localhost has been blocked. I have some stuff served on localhost because I was in an area with bad wifi and an image was taking ages to load. I don't see a point in blocking localhost, as I know everything that's on my computer, and it's also the only workaround for accessing files on your device because loading from the file system is blocked, too, and this is a safe alternative. Can fetching resources from localhost be unblocked?

specifically for arch (idk about others) there is an entry in the AUR for vesktop (which is, to my knowledge, just discord with vencord already installed) which is what I use. You can install that, and then not have to bother with it again.

hi! I am hosting my own vencloud on vencloud.marcus7i.net but lately i get this error: "Setup failed (couldn't retrieve OAuth configuration)."
i see that there is an issue bc my domain violates the "Content Security Policy". is there a way to bypass this?

If you are trying to use cloud integrations in the browser (specifically Firefox), it won't work due to CSP issues as the Vencord extension cannot correctly allow access to the API. There's no fix besides using a different browser or using the desktop clients.

Pardon if this was already brought up, but it looks like Vesktop has updated its CSP to only allow a whitelist of URLs to serve "online themes". I choose to host my theme Disblock Origin off of GitHub (on Codeberg), but the way Codeberg serves raw CSS does not seem to agree with Discord. This is why I serve it from my own domain allpurposem.at, but it is getting blocked.
