This message is misleading. Run sudo chown -R "${USER}:wheel" /Applications/Discord.app in your terminal, then run the installer again afterwards.

You may also need to grant Terminal.app (and friends) full disk access for the operation to work properly.

if the ctrl + shift + i keybind doesn't work, it's likely because a different program conflicts with the keybind. This is most commonly the AMD Radeon Software. If you have that, disable keybinds in it (see the video below)

Why do I get logged out after opening DevTools?

Discord tries to protect you from getting scammed by "hiding" your token when you open DevTools, which means it deletes it from storage and only keeps it in memory in order to make it harder to obtain.

If you now close discord before closing DevTools again, your token will not be saved anywhere anymore and as a consequence you will be logged out

Solution: Close DevTools before closing discord or better yet enable the NoDevtoolsWarning plugin which removes this "feature"

Why does my Discord always crash when opening DevTools?

This is a stock Discord issue. There is nothing we can do

However, here are some solutions that should work:

• Many people have stated that opening devtools while Discord is still loading prevents the crashing
• Devtools work fine in Vencord's custom client, Vesktop, or just your web browser - you can use the Vencord browser extension
• It seems to be an issue exclusive to Windows. You could try switching to Linux

Unfortunately, this makes using such feature impossible on most mainstream non-rolling release distributions like Debian 12 Bookworm and Ubuntu 22.04 LTS.
Forcing an update using packages from unstable testing releases like Debian 13 or rolling releases like Ubuntu 23.10 will extremely likely break this systems.

Still searching for an answer about window transparency.

I'm on Windows 10, using Vesktop.

Both console codes I was given for transparency did nothing, even after a full restart.

This is what I was given to try:

The options people told me to try for this variable was "true" and "silly", but neither did anything (no options appeared in advanced settings), and after enabling I still could not make Discord transparent.

It does not have a built-in transparency enabling - it has to be enabled through the Discord settings.

I've found no other themes that do transparent windows, I've had to jury rig them to do so.

If I change the background to a transparent color instead of an image, on any theme, the background becomes a solid color with no transparency.

In BetterDiscord, doing that makes the window transparent.

So far this is the only feature I'm missing from BetterDiscord that I cant figure out: The ability to change a background image to a 100% transparent color, and have the window be transparent.

I don't have to be able to interact with something behind the window, just see it.

The theme is compatible with transparency and even automatically becomes transparent when the option is enabled....on BetterDiscord.

However, Discord is pretty indifferent about them and there are no known cases of users getting banned for using client mods! So you should generally be fine as long as you don't use any plugins that implement abusive behaviour. But no worries, all inbuilt plugins are safe to use!

Regardless, if your account is very important to you and it getting disabled would be a disaster for you, you should probably not use any client mods (not exclusive to Vencord), just to be safe

Additionally, make sure not to post screenshots with Vencord in a server where you might get banned for it

Real quick, I just figured out and fixed my transparency issue and since I've posted asking for second and third and fourth opinions here kinda frequently, I wanted to explain how I fixed it.

Vencord.Settings.transparentUNSAFE_USE_AT_OWN_RISK = true must be set, and then you have to fully restart after enabling that. But in your theme, you have to set the body background-color to "transparent". Not a transparent color, but just literally the word transparent.

The title bar will appear and disappear at random regardless of the "disable the window frame" setting. I'm honestly still trying to figure that one out. If anyone can help me get rid of the title bar behind Discord, I would appreciate it. But it's not that bothersome because a majority of the app is transparent as it should be.

it does, but escape sequences and such will behave wrong. users will be confused why their *hello replace rule doesn't work correctly
