I'm reading some of the the finals wiki Lora and it says that THE FINALS is a sentient ai program capable of defending itself, what does that mean? Like the virtual reality is an ai? Thats super weird and confusing

It means what it sounds like it's an ai being that creates maps and adds different guns and modes though stuff like the LTM game modes but the sponsored ones are probably made by people i'd imagine. As for it being able to defend itself take season 2 for example. Vaiiya wasn't able to get rid of CNS so they had the genius idea of just turning the finals off and on again but obviously the ai didn't like the idea of being killed and revived again so when it got turned back on again it said "Screw you!" and sent everyone back to 1600's japan. That's why everyone is confused when they appear in kyoto but even then turning it off and on again didn't even solve it since some books in kyoto said when translated something along the lines of "With love" which is a shortened message from CNS the original being "From CNS with love"

I like to imagine the reason kyoto is so awful is because the finals ai did that on purpose because the map was made in revenge

Thoughts on why the Trentilla ad is from 2036:

It seems likely that the collapse was gradually starting in the 1980s but with 1 or more major events that caused large scale destruction. Getting worse the longer it went. Using The Finals lore, the Trentilla video is dated 12/36, this could be interpreted to mean 2136 however I think it's more likely to be from 2036. This is because 2136 is likely ahead of the year The Finals takes place. 2136 would seem to be after the exodus occurred as well. If Celeste was 9 during the start of the first wave that puts her birthdate around 2150. It seems to have been a longer period between the exodus and ARC arriving than like 14 years. Using this we know that the environment was heavily damaged by 2036, to the point where growing plants in a landfill was more viable than normal food. Also supporting this theory, there's Holtow Sun Insurance (and various other types) that seem to be about protection from these major environmental effects. So repeated large scale destruction definitely occurred, as well as broader effects like normal crops failing. I think at some point there was a large scale disaster that could have impacted the whole world, just Italy, or otherwise. And that is why we see cars lined up outside of these areas and abandoned. So starting in around 1980 the environment began to struggle but at some time around the exodus period there was a large scale disaster that killed most of humanity.

The Finals doesn't need to exist for an ad to exist. The ad can predate The Finals. And seeing as they had a complete disregard for the environment in the lore, compared to our world, it's not hard to imagine a massive garbage patch like that 10 years from now. I mean we have one IRL even with our environmental efforts

I think the Jiangsu Romanga logo we see during The Finals is the earlier one. We've only ever seen it twice, once in the alpha and once in the insured driver set. That dates The Finals logo closer to the 2070s only being reused once on a very minor feature later on. Entirely possible that they rebranded and then created Spaceport. It's also possible the logo we see in ARC Raiders is just for Italy/Spaceport branding.
