If I understand correctly, a torus has certain properties that are a special case of a "rose" in topology.

RHB goes on to share this observation.

The topological "rose" with 2 "petals" is a "figure eight", precisely the figure that a torus with one point removed "deformation retracts into" (whatever that means).

Earlier, I was looking for "rose"-like props on SYS. I found exactly 2 upright fans in the Office Building, one on the 3rd floor and one on the 4th floor.
If this "wales" EE is also a "roses" EE, then SYS might have "2 Roses".
Quite speculative at this point, but I wonder if part of the EE trigger is spelling out "2 Roses" on the low barriers (i.e., wales) near the Outdoor Sphere.

Thoughts? I think there are some pretty decent connections here... and they build on lots of work you guys did previously.

The 2 upright fans on SYS:

Not sure we need to go further at this point, but there are exactly two notches or gaps in the low, circular barrier around the Outdoor Sphere.
Perhaps that is simply another clue pointing to the number "2," but it might also be locations where one could place 2 props and perhaps the 2 fans. 🤷
(As an aside: people were saying the foggy night conditions may factor in. In real life, fans would have a discernible effect in foggy conditions, fwiw.)

Honestly, it might make more sense to just spell out "TORUS" like you originally suggested, but then it might still be the case that we want to encode the number "2" into the low, circular barrier and place the 2 upright fans in the two notches.
Just one of many possible iterations, but that idea would explicitly tie "2 ROSES" (i.e., topological roses with 2 petals) and the "TORUS".

TL;DR - worth trying in my opinion:

• Spell "TORUS" or "ROSES" in morse on the long straight barrier
• Encode the numeral "2" in morse on the circular barrier with the two gaps in it
• Place the 2 ("rose"-like) upright fans from the Office Building in the two gaps in the barrier, and in particular, under foggy night conditions.
• do some other stuff after that...?

There are a few old posts containing "Moby-Dick" in them. Admittedly, they were probably rabbit holes I was in. But after not getting an obvious hit on when I first searched for "whale" AND "roses," I randomly tried "Moby-Dick" AND "roses."

It's a bit tenuous, I admit, but if we have "wales" and "roses," some "whales" and "roses" connection would be nice.
(As an aside: "Rose-bud" would have potential as a Citizen Kane reference. It never occurred to me that Charles Foster Kane's "Rosebud" was a bit like Ahab's Moby-Dick. Probably irrelevant, but I wonder if that was intentional.... huh, the plot thickens - turns out Orson Welles worked for years to adapt Moby-Dick, resulting in a film that was ultimately unfinished and lost. 🤷 )

So what does "activated by unknown player" actually mean? From what I understand, some unknown group of players (x7) activated it without revealing anything about it, since it requires 7 players, and Rob confirmed it started at 6/7 before being fully activated. But they just didn’t find the code.

yes, because this condition was removed by Rob "now it's triggered regardless you loadout and condition (I did this to make it a bit more easy)". Previously, I had the impression that some random person did something specific that activated Catacea for everyone, while actually it seems that the process involving those letters was always possible and the only thing that changed was that the loadout+condition was removed after the first successful activation

I think you may be confusing the dolphins/cetacea ee with the dolhpin charm, which is essentially part 2 of it.

**Dolphins/cetacea **always had the letters on the sunset variant and is activated by 7 players standing on them looking towards the sunset with no extra triggers.

The dolhpin charm needs you to do the dolphin/cetacea trigger again, but with a specific loadout/placing the gadgets on the letter blocks/something we're not entirely sure of because it was activated at random and rob eye'd the message where someone theorised about the loadout, confirming it. The random people who triggered it didn't know about the code, but having now activated the "hard version" of the ee, the loadout requirement was dropped, allowing us to activate the normal version and find the code

If the SYS secret room cannot be entered/activated individually, it's likely the path forward requires players to be at 3 or 4 positions for the compass.

Now from a philosophical perspective there's an arguement to be made, but at the same time there's no reason for rob to lie to us both as a courtesy and to not damage the "reputation" of his hints. Re: SYS "wales"
In addition to the "low barriers" near the Outdoor Sphere, it might be worth considering the low barriers at the edges of the roofs (e.g., overlooking the Outdoor Sphere).
These might function more like "gunwales" or "chainwales", which have particular maritime significance.

Re: SYS "slides"
Any thoughts so far? An obvious idea is to look at any sets of stairs that one can slide down.

I'm sure we'll think of better "slides" ideas, and this idea already got some hate, but by process of association, I connected these ridges, prob incorrectly, to both "wales" and "slides."
How "slides"? From this direction, the shape made by the curved ridges looks a bit like a children's slide looking left to right and top to bottom.
I'd feel remiss not to mention the idea, at least.

In particular, it seems like there's an understanding that everything needed for the "Big Whoop" EE is in the official images. What's odd to me is Rob keeps giving us 1,2,3 which could correspond with our Europe, North America, Asia clue from our Key Art image. Re: A Humble Suggestion
Insanity is repeatedly doing the same thing and expecting different results. Lately, the community, collectively, is not getting results. It seems likely this is because something in the current dynamic is not scaling, and this might indicate a need to meaningfully re-architect the approach and process. If one were designing a system for hunting EEs from first principles, I do not believe the system would resemble the one the community currently has. I think someone else should step up and consider the question of what such first principles might be - someone with community-wide respect and an established track record of positive contributions. I am not that person, but I will offer the following thoughts as a parting gift, as I believe Rob’s efforts are a gift to the community and deserve a best effort as a gift in return.
Some potential main principles possibly worthy of consideration:

• A rational system can maximize the chance of success and minimize the time and energy required to generate results - (1) Each identifiable clue should have its own thread. (2) There should be a single thread dedicated to listing all individual clues and their dedicated threads as a catalog of existing clues. The current status of each clue can be indicated parenthetically (e.g., unsolved vs. solved). This central thread for clues can be continually revised to reflect the latest priorities for the community. (3) Each clue thread should have a pinned comment that assesses the current status of the clue, including an assessment of whether it is already solved and with an approximate degree of confidence. (4) There should be a single, dedicated thread for cross-clue collaboration for when it seems collaboration is actually warranted (e.g., relating and combining multiple clues together). (5) When a single item or event reveals multiple clues (e.g., an official image or a chat with Rob), it should have its own thread, but only so as to identify clues, so that each individual clue can be given its own thread. (6) Again, so many threads are only coordinated when there is a single, central thread dedicated to listing all clues and their dedicated threads.

• A single person should be empowered as the community coordinator - This person should be one who is confident in their ability to be engaged, arbitrate disputes, and have the authority to make final decisions for as long as they are willing and able. A broader vote can be held requiring a substantial majority to elect a new coordinator. The coordinator does not direct the hunt, but some decisions inevitably have to be made in organizing the results from all contributors and with respect to all clues. There is a decent amount of work just seeing that any first principles are adhered to as best as possible. A certain amount of leadership can have an important impact and, at times, a decisive one.

• Community health is paramount - EE hunting is a search process that obeys statistical laws. Results are proportional to time and energy in. A single hunter has no hope of success. A small group of hunters has a de minimis hope of success. A critical mass of hunters is required. To coalesce a critical mass of hunters, the community has to be welcoming, inclusive, encouraging, positive. ‘Gatekeeping’ will ruin the best chance for success. Too much LARPing will ruin the best chance for success. Lack of humility and open-mindedness will ruin the best chance for success.

• Remember why people are here - This is for fun. It’s a game, not a job. No one joins to take orders from strangers or follow arbitrary rules. Any first principles represent a strategy, not a set of rules. This is also why there should be an “off-topic” and a general “on-topic” thread dedicated to freewheeling discussions and speculations. Basically, for fun. These already exist. People are free to form sub-communities for other “on-topic” fun (e.g., a thread dedicated to in-game EEs like the ‘hidden room’ on SYS$Horizon, for which it is not yet clear which clues are relevant or helpful).

Again, I hope someone ventures to take some leadership and at least consider changes. GLHF. ❤️

i don't agree with some of your points there, but, i 100% agree with the fact that the community should be welcoming and approachable by everyone, i generally think we do a great job of getting new hunters on track, since we have a bunch of resources that can get them up to speed in less than 30 mins. If you feel like we are not, please do share why, feedback is important and it helps to grow.

About the Clue Catalog Thread, i think it's a great idea, we do have #egg-hunt-onboarding that gets updated with the hottest EEs too.
I would not be opposed to the creation of one tho! it surely will help navigation a bit but i would stop with that one because otherwise we are just adding more confusion to the mix, most clues and chats are cataloged anyway and they find their way in their thread.

i do not agree with this, this is just too much of a responsibility and i've seen it go wrong so many times, decisions should be up to the community as a whole and if you do not agree with the direction that was taken, go on your own path and see if it leads you somewhere good, if it does, check back in!

It has happened that a single hunter made a big break-through on their own, this how things happens, someone shares a theory that clicks or suggests something that just makes sense (while providing the sources and connections).
Still, many theories are born from one and developed with others.
I think the EE community in this Discord is one of the most welcoming i've ever seen, people take their time to get hunters up to speed, many repeat the same things over and over without any problems, i've yet to see gatekeeping that isn't for some joke.
If you feel that is not what's going on, i repeat, do share why!

Open-mindedness is definitely important when approaching a Hunt. That said, it's easy to lose some 'credibility points' when your theories lack solid foundations or don't connect meaningfully with the major clues. This isn't meant as an attack on you, Tom, it happens to every hunter, whether new or experienced. Sometimes we ramble, sometimes we miss, and sometimes we strike gold. Looking closer at this it looks more like brain/body nervous connection, mainly brain, but seems to be influenced by drugs
Correct me if I’m wrong on the last part. From what I can make out the pathway points towards temporal lobe activity in the brain related to:

• audio cues/perception
• Emotions
• Language perception (wernicke’s area)
