I'm just catching up to today's wild turn of events (thx to all who have contributed the usual amazing forensic work! hug_friend ).
Anyway, my first reaction to the markings on the image of the valentine's card charm (and motivated by one of my fixations):

  • It's a "minus" and "plus" and the "minus" sign inside the arc represents a "minus" sign inside of a larger circle
  • It relates to the polarity of the Earth and changes in the polarity (usually on a geologic time scale)

@alpine junco what you think?

alpine junco

dusk siren
#

A cheesy simpleton theory... if you had {2,3,4,6,8}:

  • 2*3 = 6
  • 2*4 = 8
We know we have "hex" as a clue (6), and there are some possibilities for why we might get "oct" as a clue (8)... (e.g., my longshot "spider web" theory in the Iseult image - and people can probably think of even better candidates for pointing to 8).

I don't know. I'm desperate to understand this constant 123ABC stuff

Maybe it's just pointing to needing the combination of 3 things like we needed on the Level 3 activation page. That page still puzzles me though too because we had the rabbit icon called 1.0.0, the dolphin icon called 2.0.0, and then the monkey icon called 2.4.0

cassini maps, used triangulation to map france... very similar to the patterns on these rugs

#

In computational geometry, a Delaunay triangulation or Delone triangulation of a set of points in the plane subdivides their convex hull into triangles whose circumcircles do not contain any of the points. This maximizes the size of the smallest angle in any of the triangles, and tends to avoid sliver triangles.
The triangulation is named after ...

Something like this is probably going to be right, but it's going to annoy me a bit when it is, because I can't help but see triangles overlapping in the pattern in the rug, not tiling like all these examples seem to be.

many art museums don't explicitly state if they have a metal sphere architecture but i've managed to find some on a whim by simple scouting. i don't think the area is as close to the water as sys$horizon makes it out to be but it's most likely a costal region

swift mulch

There's also Olafur Eliasson's silver orbs in San Francisco at the waterfront.

And Singapore has Mirror balls sculpture and an artScience museum across the river.

dusk siren
#

@pure loom If you don't mind a reminder, you had in one of your videos that one of the Apples in SYS likely represented NYC and the other quite possibly representing Palo Alto, Cupertino, San Fran, Bay Area. Does the patch notes refer to either one of those specifically? (Or there even more apples than I realized?!)

dusk siren
#

The reason I did is that there are lots of interesting old posts with ideas about SYS. For instance, search Smimthsonian, I think

#

But the San Fran thing was interesting.

#

Why I tried to ping RHB (sry, RHB!)

#

For instance, San Fran is near the San Andreas fault

#

If the apple being destroying in the patch notes referred to San Fran, then destruction might refer indirectly to the destruction of an earthquake. Tenuous, but thought I'd throw it out there.

#

Also going to look into this Eliasson thing. Thx! hug_friend

swift mulch
#

My last guess would be Bilbao, Spain. Anish Kapoor is known for creating large reflective sculptures (like the bean). The Guggenheim museum has exhibited quite some work. It's also has mountains in the back and waterfront.

dusk siren
#

As long as we're back to SYS speculations, I originally placed the dolphins off the coast of SYS in San Diego (maybe not the first), but now that I think of it, the more parsimonious theory would be just to have the dolphins off the coast of SYS also connect to San Fran. Might be something I'll have to try to do a little work on. Thx, again!

swift mulch
#

Ugh the dolphins, I already forgot about that 😅

dusk siren
#

For those interested, this Eliasson guy seems legit. Totally something I could see in this hunt (not that I could tell you how, exactly).
https://www.dezeen.com/2019/07/10/olafur-eliasson-in-real-life-tate-modern-exhibition/

Three decades of work by the Danish-Icelandic artist Olafur Eliasson including an indoor rainbow and a tunnel of fog prompt visitors to London's Tate Modern to think about their impact on the planet.

#

Here's something on the SF spheres (I'm only a tad disappointed that (a) there are five instead of one and (b) that they aren't perfect spheres. OTOH, never let the perfect be the enemy of the good, right?)

Are people still trying to figure out the inspiration for the art museum/gallery in SYS? If so, the San Francisco MOMA seems like it's worth a consideration https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/San_Francisco_Museum_of_Modern_Art

The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) is a modern and contemporary art museum and nonprofit organization located in San Francisco, California. SFMOMA was the first museum on the West Coast devoted solely to 20th-century art, and has built an internationally recognized collection with over 33,000 works of painting, sculpture, photograp...

#

I encourage a look at the wikipedia page and taking note of its geographic location with respect to the water.

#

Maybe better, going back and searching to see if SFMOMA was in past posts, what I mainly came across were posts about the MoMA in NYC...

#

Could we be all the way back to that crazy cross-country U.S.A. road trip from NYC to SF idea?

#

East Coast - NYC - Metropolitan Museum of [Old] Art (MMA #1?)

#

West Coast - SF - San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (MMA #2?)

#

NOTE: I'm extremely sorry if I end up covering old ground here.

swift mulch
#

Hmmm good one, I’ll do some reading on that tomorrow

dusk siren
#

I wouldn't let the unassuming photo fool you. It seems like this place has some big stuff, too.

swift mulch
#

I think San Francisco could actually be a very likely candidate. I’d like to withdraw my thoughts on Spain /Guggenheim. I checked out the trees on sys and there are no palm trees so it’s probably not in a tropical / Mediterranean area

dusk siren
#

I don't know if it matters to the EE hunt, but I actually do think these are reasonable candidates for the inspirations for the SYS$HORIZON locations. Still waiting for a verdict on the Apples question I posted above, which may add or detract from the likelihood I'd assign.

swift mulch
#

I just started looking the video where SPEAR did an interview with Embark on the "making of syshorizon". I'm still at the beginning but I noted some things down to help look in a bit.

During the interview Esbjörn mentions: If you look at a city, all the buildings fit in the space they have and the infrastructure surrounding them. For this map we knew pretty early that we needed to find a real world location, where we had a good base for the infrastructure and building footprint and then to sort of apply our own style on top.

The map layout contains: workspace, library, art gallery, museum, and campus.

^ That could help to significantly reduce the options. If they didn't randomize the building types that is.

dusk siren
#

I think what has always thrown me and probably many other people here is that we can't seem to find a location where all of these (office building, gallery, museum, library, campus) are in such close proximity

#

Or at least I can't

swift mulch
dusk siren
#

But if you relax that requirement, those San Fran locations come into play. But if you go in the other direction, and try to identify the structures and their relative positions, first, then I'm not sure why you need the actual San Fran locations

swift mulch
#

Time to ask Trevor Rainbolt for help xd

dusk siren
#

In other words, I could simply be making up the San Fran thing

#

Anyway, I'm updating the map to include the Chase Center (the location of the Olafur Eliasson installation), well, because it is also fits neatly in nice proximity to the other locations and because it's called the "Chase Center," which seems kind of on the nose in this context.

swift mulch
#

Overlay this on the map and see if we can match it 😅 🔍

#

@dusk siren Do you know what CNS stands for?

royal geyser
#

Central network station right?

dusk siren
#

Yeah, not the locations I suggested. But here's a map showing the Salesforce Tower, which I thought might make for a good "Workspace" building (trying to match the outer facade to something like what is in SYS, where the Salesforce Tower features a "curtain wall" that kind of matches). I mean, it feels like there is at least some nice "infrastructure" in the area.

#

Here's the curtain wall (it's a stretch, but also, the Workspace building in SYS isn't exactly practical, I don't care how temperate your climate is)

swift mulch
#

Hmmm

dusk siren
#

That greenspace could be the wide avenue between the Workspace and the Gallery was how my motivated reasoning was thinking

dusk siren
#

But let's face it. Nothing like SYS's layout if one is being honest

swift mulch
#

Ahhhh

#

God I have a lot of catching up to do on lore and what has been found so far

dusk siren
#

I think, for my part, I might put any more of these "SYS <-----> San Fran?" ideas into Rabbit Holes from here, for the time being.

swift mulch
#

Yea bit of a dead end at this point

#

Or rather, way too many exits to take on this long road ahead

dusk siren
#

Well, let's see if anyone else takes an interest and sees a way forward or a way that it actually connects to the hunt / Miro. Meanwhile, if I have more thoughts, I'll keep adding to the Rabbit Hole threads. Hope you'll do the same. 🙂 hug_friend 🫡

#

I still think Eliasson might be good in his own right. I think that could end up being the real find.

dusk siren

Well, according to your hypothesis, the partial one corresponds to the logo of Apple Inc. and, in turn, Cupertino, CA and the San Francisco Bay Area, IIRC. Hope I'm not misrepresenting that.

#

I still think the "SYS <------> San Fran?" thing is almost certainly a bunch of coincidences, or at least, not helpful to the EE-hunt, but I appreciate getting the answer.
(If there's any connection, perhaps it's through the earthquake idea, at best. 🤷)

Here's an idea on how we could solve the 9 passwords.
We've gotten a few clues for Silk Road in the Iseult image.
Silk Road connects Europe and Asia.
If we place Europe, NA and Asia like this, then the "connection" between Europe and Asia would be mma1-a and mma3-c
This could mean that those 2 passwords somehow include Silk Road.

The trigeminal nerve of the brain (CN. V) is what innervates our face and allows us to feel (temp, pressure, and pain) sensations on our face AS WELL AS our mandible movement (jaw movement). Which could explain and enhance why the talking audio is so distorted in CNS’s messaging in addition to the glitchy static effect.

That also explains why we don’t see CNS’s leader’s face too. Which also explains CNS’s anti-AI face painting.
5 = trigeminal n. = face = hidden

#

CN V = cranial nerve 5

#

we have 1 set of CN V’s on each side of the face

In anatomy, the atlas (C1) is the most superior (first) cervical vertebra of the spine and is located in the neck.
The bone is named for Atlas of Greek mythology, just as Atlas bore the weight of the heavens, the first cervical vertebra supports the head. However, the term atlas was first used by the ancient Romans for the seventh cervical vert...

I’ve been reading a bit about three-body problems and a CNS acronym appears here:

In 2017, Shijun Liao and Xiaoming Li applied a new strategy of numerical simulation for chaotic systems called the clean numerical simulation (CNS), with the use of a national supercomputer, to successfully gain 695 families of periodic solutions of the three-body system with equal mass.[37]

I’ve just started watching the Netflix series of Three-Body Problem, as well, and Alice In Wonderland was mentioned pretty early in episode 1.

#

In physics, specifically classical mechanics, the three-body problem is to take the initial positions and velocities (or momenta) of three point masses that orbit each other in space and calculate their subsequent trajectories using Newton's laws of motion and Newton's law of universal gravitation.

Another potential clue I have yet to discover its relevance, is this part from SPEAR's interview:
https://youtu.be/b1y-c2FwV-g?t=294
Esbjorn mentions they found a layout and infrastructure they liked, but it was inverted to what they ended up going for. He says that what are now the roads, used to be infinite holes. With this concept art.

I wonder why these roads used to be voids? Maybe this layout is not street level, but part of some area connecting parts of skyscrapers together (as a super wild guess). Also notice how every building is pretty much connected with bridges. Something those bridges remind me of is the +15 in calgary, which is a skyway network for pedestrians connecting 130 buildings together.

It's all a long shot, but something that has definitely entered my mind multiple times.

Another brainfart on SYS$HORIZON. Remember how Rob was giving us the clue "science is fun if you know its secrets", which pointed to a phrase The Curse of Monkey Island after making a compass ("Neat! It points North! Science is fun when you know the secret!").

This sounds an awfull lot like something Einstein used to say
https://youtube.com/shorts/4Pb9j7RQ7Uc?si=7FLJweRGp_wm-NhE

When Albert Einstein was four or five years old, his father gave him a magnetic pocket compass to play with while he was sick in bed. Even as an old man, Einstein wrote of this compass with its needle always, mysteriously turning to the north, "I can still remember...that this experience made a deep and lasting impression on me. Something deeply hidden had to be behind things".

We have also seen the shape of a toroidal field (attached image) on SYS, which is a magnetic field with no radial components, e.g. where the magnetic lines of force lie on an electrically conducting spherical surface such as the surface of the Earth's core.
^ This could also relate to magnetism / compass.

The shape also reminds me of a wormhole/Einstein-Rosen bridge, which can hypothetically be used to teleport/travel faster than the speed of light and could also point in the direction of "something deeply hidden". Something very losely tied together since we're at the topic of wormholes/blackholes (einsteins theory of relativity); is that blackholes have an eventhorizon and the map name is called syshorizon.

Not sure what to make of all of this yet, but might give some new ideas?

dusk siren
# gloomy anvil https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parry_point_(triangle)

Yeah, I'm probably off on the wrong track looking at these triangle points (unless it's expected of us that we use a planar map like the Mercator projection, rather than the globe), but...
Was thinking again how ABC is often the way a triangle is denoted, with the names of three vertices.
(Side note: I don't know if or how much "delta" has been hinted at, but I assume the delta symbol is sometimes used to represent that it is a triangle, even if there is a more specific "triangle" symbol that should be used - i.e., ΔABC)

#

Anyway, if we are also interested in "1,2,3" in this context, then, the centroid has some interesting properties relating to ratios of 1:2:3.

dusk siren
#

Also, can't remember if I noted this, but still considering "Voronoi diagrams," as well...
I sort of doubt that these are consistent across languages and grammars, but you do get some interesting words and their variants in "Voronoi" - e.g., "oro," "ovo," "ovin" (sheep, ovine), "iron," "noir." Just wondering if some past clues might have been pointing to Voronoi already. (If only Rob would just confirm or deny 🙂 )

Also, when I look at that initial symbol, I think there's some reason to thinkg it might not be a letter at all. (For starters, it might be taller than all the subsequent letters?) In any case, I think it might be drawn deceptively to look like a Q, but when I look closely, I wonder if it's something like a key hole, perhaps centered in a lock or door. (Or I'm just off my rocker, as usual)

#

The "K" (if it is a "K") makes me think of a king, but I should stop here till I have a more conrete idea (pun not originally intended) If it were a "key," anybody know ciphers that would fit with 8 or 9 letters (I hedge, because the last "letter" almost looks more like a triangle or "delta" than an "A," but whatever)

1,2,3

  • Level 1: The Commence - Introduction, how to hunt. Solution: geocache
    • Three X's - devoncrossing, ocb, galileo
  • Level 2: The Promise - Reward, what we're hunting.
    • Tier 1 - themes: Gold & Egg
    • Tier 2 - themes: Gold & Egg
    • Tier 3 - theme: Golden Egg
  • Level 3: The Hunt - Find the Golden Egg (and other golden objects?)

OYE, X, and "X marks the spot"

  • Monkey Island - map to Elaine's Golden Statue: "With all eyes open, follow the path to the X. X Marks the Spot!"

Golden statues/objects? (spitballing)

  • Nine Golden objects hidden throughout Las Vegas (NA), Monaco (EU), and Seoul (AS). Golden Nama (egg) on Monaco already found by following the X on the Lost Legacy map.
  • Golden object ideas:
    • egg - Monaco (found)
    • cup (Holy Grail)
    • crown (King Arthur / Queen of Hearts)
    • medal (Nobel)
    • idol (Indiana Jones)
    • flamingo

19 and 19 / 3

  • 19 and thirds pushed strongly via clues in WRD3HM.png

  • "commence promise hunt" = 19 / 3
  • "las vegas monaco seoul" = 19 / 3

crisp eagle
# dusk siren Also, when I look at that initial symbol, I think there's some reason to thinkg ...

I agree. I also see something like a cave opening and a keyhole. Makes me think of the second Lost Legacy sticker we have with the vault under the mountain. Cave maybe? Also the kV could be the symbol for kilovolt (1,000 volts). Also sounds close to the word “vault” which is fun haha maybe we have to activate an electric hidden vault door somewhere like with some EE’s on battlefield. So maybe:
1,000 volt vault door with a fortune

I don’t have clip perms but if you revive someone when they are partially under a broken wall, it pushes them to fall below the map

or tbh, even just one Golden Nama in each arena, the location or characteristics of which (such as XY coordinates) makes up the passwords.

this doesn't account for some major clues though
