Depends on what you like to play like. You can go pure offence by adding the "slayer perk", just use 2 weapons like an arming sword/falchion and a dagger in your off hand.
The other would be a block build, with things like counterattack and shield mastery. Learning to block attacks can be very strong.

Warlock is very strong especially solo, but not the easiest to pick up early. I think the strongest part is high armor with dagger and shield, it is the strongest defensive kit for melee in the game. Ranger is your hard counter you mostly have to avoid them unless you run plate armor + torture mastery or play around doorways. If you use Hydra, combine it with lifedrain(doesnt scale with magic heal unly with dmg) and you can block doorways and heal constantly with that.

With a shield. It's a difficult learning curve but you need to intuit where the shield is actually blocking. You'll need to "catch" the arrows by moving your shield to where they're going to hit you.

80% of the time it has to do with the space between you and them, the axe and short sword skelly have one attack that makes them bend over slightly so they basically clip through your shield or longsword. If you wanna block those you have to get enough space, which can be hard if they are nightmare lvl or you have low movespeed.

When I was a newb the most useful tip for me to evade mobs was "never use walking back". Only retreat by turning 90 either side then strafe. Don't have movement penalty that way, drastically increases success rate where distance matters.

So daggers have a tiny attack window, you can have your shield raised 0.3s after hitting your enemy so you can allmost block everything. And Warlock is the only class that can get max dmg daggers + shield. Also you have a +2true dmg and heal perk which is more effective with a high attack speed dagger than a sword. Allways proritize blocking never spam lmb when you do dagger+shield. and movespeed of course...

All exit routes on map spawn in. If they aren’t there then it’s been used/activated. Which can be a strat with rope ladders — triggering them to force PvP fights elsewhere.

I think that all the complaints about the f2p model can be resolved if we make regional prices, because not in all countries people are willing to pay $30 for the full version of the game, this is a fairly common solution, I don’t understand why it couldn’t be done this way right away.

Completely agree, PvP is somewhat optional instead of mandatory now. While you could argue that there perhaps needs to be something in place incentivize more PvP, I think this is much healthier for the game. Those who want to PvP now have to search for it instead of it being handed to them on a silver platter

When I was playing they could kill full pdr fighter in under 3 seconds - they've definitely caught nerfs since then but that was experience back then. I don't see what issue is having normals be white only (with whatever you find in game - which makes it awesome finding upgrades in game) and having a separate lobby for those who want to go in stacked with gear.

If you already didn't use Sprint, Fighter is pretty good atm
Despite the Throwing Axe nerf, barbarian is still really strong
Warlock is probably the best caster atm unless you're doing really high level content then I'd go wizard for casting

The dagger shield plate lock thing is insane with the move penalty changes.. you can even take on rangers with dark bolt if you have the projectile res for it. And so many people run plate fighter now which warlock counters hard in melee with a kris.

i dont see the issue with gbmm, at least, definitely not when compared to the system before it of ranked brackets. with gbmm at least there are some limitations to the power gap between lower tier and higher gear sets. with the system before you could only hope and pray that there wasnt an insanely geared squad/player in the lobby. since the "ranked brackets" and a "rank" connected only to your ability to gain AP through extracting its not like being in a lower ranked meant you couldnt gear up in an insane set. worse yet, the system could be abused for people to intentionally stay in a lower rank with BIS gear to trash other players in the same rank that are generally less capable of building top tier sets. gbmm eliminates this better than the previous system. a legitimate problem with gbmm i understand is producing empty lobbies, but this becomes less of an issue with a larger player base. of course now that the gear gap is reduced and with changes to AP that may reflect pvp skill expression more it could be switched back to a rank based system, but this would make SBMM which people generally seem to be against as well. i personally dont mind the system used as long as it is facilitates that every lobby is balanced such that each squad stands a legitimate chance against every other squad in the lobby, whether by limiting the gear score match making, or even better, by limiting the actual power difference gained from wearing BIS gear, so that PVP interactions are focused more on skill expression rather than gear score differential. i can see the problems people have with gbmm, especially with a lower player count, but imo it is inifinitely better than what we had before. sorry for the wall of text

thats fair, gbmm could use plenty more tuning. but i dont see how that becomes a larger issue than entirely unbalanced lobbies? people were simply maxing out sets before gbmm and able to play them in lobbies against people in greens and blues or even base kit. as much problems as gbmm might have, the system before just made lobbies that were too unbalanced to make sense. it could be a personal preference but i would prefer that the lowest geared players at least stand a chance against the most geared, with maybe the exception of full basekit vs purples/legendaries

The game is on the right track but for me 3 key things are missing:

-Put the arena mode where the winner will be able to choose an item from the loser, you can enter equipped but you must go to the dungeons to get this equipment (it will be incredibly fun).

-Put back the old extraction mode. The circle helped to have PVP. With the current mode there is very little PVP. Maybe a way would be to combine the two and rotate them as well as the maps.

-To put back the map ''The ruins''. Leaving 4 active maps where you will only be able to play 3. The maps will rotate as currently but there will always be one that you will not be able to enter. This would help to bring back the ruins map without the need to dilute the players.

or they are saying that its a combination of both skill and gear, but with too much of a differential between low and high tier gear, there has to be some limitation on which tiers can get matched. either way, whether the game depends more on skill or your gear is somewhat independent of the matching system. its a fact based on the actual power difference between low and high tier gear. so if they wanted to reduce gear expression and increase skill expression, the only way to do so is to reduce the gap (this is also why gbmm actually reintroduces skill expression, since it reduces the gap between players in the same lobby). they have been steadily reducing the gap with tuning down the random modifiers, so this hopefully fixes the problem regardless since if the actual gap is small enough there is no need to split people based on gear score

Well, that seems to be what F2P players are asking for. They want to be able to use their gear so they want lobbies without gear caps. If they find out they don't actually like that then they can go back to not using gear.

W update. no matter how you try to shit talk, listen the only actual fix for everyone is to make the game paid, but they stated they cant do that, this the best update for the role shit we'll ever get, they'll probably tweak it later, but the whole casual gamemode not allowing even greens was so absurd and glad they saw that. If BIS slots get too op, they can just lower it to blue max. Blue bis can still exist but that doesnt mean they're impossible to kill, it'll actually make it better for a common guy to find a BIS guy since their loot is 100x better than the loot they would've gotten had they had a full PvE experience.

Realize that the fun in loot extraction games is the risk, you want a chance to win against the odds and clutch up a full set, or die but now have a better understanding on why your gear sucked and which stats will be better.

Better to lose stuff and get better stuff than to only play common squire gear and get like 60 gold per run just to not use it

What cost them players is a severe lack of new players joining the game. Access through steam and epic seems to help with that massively and we have a higher peak player count than ANY time during EA i can recall. This was a necessary first step to keeping the game alive. Products need to be accessible to the average person if you want a wide customer base.
