The weapon itself is the hitbox, the exact mesh. There is no cone, so you have to intercept where the other attack is coming from with your weapon. Very tight window

@whole sluice Most people playing the last test met the problem that all trading (doesn't matter either you trade utility or weapon) happened in weapon room one. And it was so hard to find the right one for you, the chat was literally "flying away". Is the idea to let people "link" items in supposed channels ONLY, I mean you can link utility only in utility room etc.?

Not confirmed, but there has been speculation that Artificer might be one of the archetypes used to make a class, in which case it could be assumed that they might feature a "gun" that I would expect to be somewhere between bow and crossbow in how clunky it is.
Will we eventually see customization options for stats or are classes always going to include their own pre-set array? I figure it would be very complicated to balance around being able to min-max stats, but the way the "character sheets" were setup in the game made me question it.
Nothing has been said on such things, but I suspect there will be some amount of non-itemization customization available from levelling. MaddCowQQ has put forth the idea of a few "flex" stats you can distribute among the current base stats for each class, which I too would like to see.
That could be interesting. Otherwise it may be a good idea to just hide any stats that you aren't able to change.
Is the game intended to be balanced around solo play? I feel like this is a very important thing to keep in mind moving foward so that we can offer better suggestions for different classes. Clerics can feel underwhelming on their own unless you forego the use of half of your spells. Wizards are garbage on their own. Fighters have almost no way to heal on their own, etc.
While you have classes like the ranger who can do everything alone.
they would probably have done tank/healer/dps archetypes if it wasn't intended to be solo friendly. but atm the gameplay is too simple that outnumbering people is really unfair so 3 mans dominate.
No, it's not balanced around solo, nor was it planned to be. They have mentioned looking into something for solos after feedback, but I wouldn't expect them to shift the priority of their design philosophy towards solos over the group play.

No they don't intend to change weapon arcs at this time. They deliberately choose that over directional swings.
I'm just hoping that a stab button gets added even if the attack is very weak.
I would hope you can just choose to start the combo in reverse or something, not adding the full 8 directions for every weapon but letting you use one of 3 per weapon
thats kind of the whole point of locking weapons to certain combos though, as some weapons would just be busted if you could change their attack directions
like imagine horseman's axe but with different attack directions... that would be a nightmare to go up against
also the strategy behind it when you see a fighter coming at you with a zweihander, go into a small corridor and they will struggle attacking you at all

Hello, I've been asking myself why the wizard and cleric spells icons look just like the ones in Baldur's gate series and Icewind dale series. Are you guys just using placeholders icons or you gonna keep the ones we got now? Because afaik this could be some sort of reference or easteregg or something else...

Not having safe pockets is one of the best things about this game. It makes the pvp much more high stakes and rewarding to win at.

Inventory management is one of the worst elements of these games. Every time I watch a video about Tarkov it is someone going in and out of bags and trying to rotate things to cram just one more thing in. It's goofy and isn't (my idea of) fun gameplay. What I can say is that the Devs have a vision and they are very good about ignoring most 'noise' that doesn't add anything to the game
If you see the progression from the playtests alone they've added things that make sense and doesn't conflict with their vision

I have no knowledge of private testing, no anything with twitch affiliation. Twitch affiliation is more of a twitch thing. If you mean content creator, ask one of the Troubadours or Wardens. They can point you in the right direction

That skill, basically said it reduced all damage by -3. I was also wondering if it effected poison ticks.
It should work on both rupture and poison in that case but honestly no clue if it works correctly in game

Hi my brother and i wanted to play with the game last weekend but when he started the game the Unreal engine crashed and it said : Unhandled Exception: EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION writing address 0x0000000000000024 How should we solve that thing so we can play together for the next playtest?
So after watching a few videos by other people, seems a lot of players have found ways of increasing the brightness and contrast of the game to the point of seeing the people in the dark. Any plans on tackling this issue? IMO its pretty much cheating, i mean the game is called dark and darker.

Found this, ive seen even worse tho. My game was nowhere near as bright, nor should it have been. Some are worse than others ofcourse, but this didnt even cross my mind until today after binging a whole bunch of gameplay videos. Keep in mind these dont even account for the monitor settings, if those would affect anything. Not sure about that.
I would first try to verify the game files or even reinstall the entire game. Also check the graphics driver for updates
I thought I saw an application before the last playtest but I'm no longer able to find it. Streamed 79 Hours this playtest and ended top 25 barbs so ive been looking for that Troubadour thing myself, had a blast and can't wait for the announcement for next playtest

Jonahveil vid looks similar to my experience. There is a brightness setting in game which I cranked all the way up. He probably did the same. Fus video looks similar to me as well. Skytea link is from first playtest (2 months ago), which i think just had different version of lighting all together. Did you not find or change the in-game setting? I fiddled with my monitor and I couldn't see people in the true dark unless they were silhouetted or had glowing potion or something. Whereas in tarkov you can literally get nightvision with certain monitor settings. That doesn't show on screen recording/ videos though.
I saw one video when the blacks were very greyed out, and you could make out silhouettes even in almost pitch black rooms, cant find it as I watch youtube in incognito most of the time.
Just crossed my mind that the video might be post edited, but definitely something to think about, as I see a lot of variation in different gameplay vids, clearly giving an edge to players that mess with their settings.
I reckon working that out is close to impossible however.
And yeah, none of this accounts for the monitor settings. I had a few examples of being killed in pitch black, and it wasnt rangers tracing me, or potions on my belt.
If anyone has played rust, that is one game were they have successfully made Darkness effective... I have not seen anyone mess with settings to see.
I usually mess with darkness by tilting my monitor forwards a bit. If I feel that the darkness just detracts from the experience.
(Looking at games that expect you to use a pinneedle flashlight in pitch blackness)
According to the devs Early Access is scheduled to come out Q2 2023 (if there are no major problems)
But this is not reliable, as things can always be rescheduled and bugs can also occur. I assume Q3 2023

As someone with.. I don't want to say debilitating, but I'd go as far as saying.. gameplay-disabling arachnophobia.. ๐ Spiders are effectively a stun-lock.. is the best way I can put it. ๐
I was wondering; Do the devs have any arachnophobia-friendly options planned for the game?
In my case, something as simple - although it is a bit wacky, I agree - as a client-side / local "Spiders are Crabs" toggle to turn the spider models into crabs would work. Crabs come to mind due to how similar they are to spiders, so easier to swap the rig, while still avoiding phobia triggers.
If you'd rather keep it a tad more immersive/realistic (crabs like wetter places than dungeons), a "Spiders are Rats" toggle could also do the trick.

Yes, unless they get hit for a lot of damage. Higher damage weapons can break through your block if the shield's armor rating is too low in comparison. The Barbarian's Impact perk makes smashing through shield blocks easier with powerful weapons.

Wizard's Invis only lasts for four seconds. Now, the invis'd target can move at full speed for four seconds, but the Rogue's Hide lasts for 40 seconds IIRC, and he also has access to perks that boost his damage for a few seconds after he leaves invisibility.

Nope; only the Lesser Heal spell. Holy Light can also be used against Undead, however.

The game had a alpha test number two last weekend. I believe they are expecting to make an announcement in the coming week on when the next alpha test will be. The actual full release is not scheduled until quarter 3 of next year

I've heard the maul requires a good grasp of dragging and accel. Never had enough of the things to figure it out myself.
It's fun to use for me it's the most satisfying weapon to use I just wish it wasn't so fucking slow

The stats on the maul are fine, basic or gold the thing is just slow and has a crappy animation.

Agility is said to provide Move Speed, Action Speed, Equip Speed, and Interaction Speed. What is the difference between Action Speed and Interaction Speed? Is Action speed just attack speed? Anything else?
It's really, really good with accels and decels if you're going up against someone with a shield otherwise accels all the way.
The slow animation and wide arc are a boon if you know how to manipulate it properly and have teammates who respect the death arc from it
Action speed is anything you do with you personally. Attack, Swap weapons/gear, Chug Potions, Bandage etc.. Interaction Speed (Regular) is interacting with things in the dungeon like Torches, Doors, Chests etc...

Unless it says magic it's phys. I didn't test a lot of the spell like stuff this test so I can't verify 100%, but pretty sure Field Ration was Phys. Healing along with bandages and potions etc...
I'll have to test when we get access again haha. Do you have any formulas figured out yet? For armor rating for example? I know the first 10 brought you from -10% to 0%... but after that it didn't look quite linear anymore so I didn't explore further.
It's a curve that you get less armor per point until you hit 146-19 and then it goes back up

Having 0 armor makes you have -10% phys. reduction meaning you actually TAKE 10% more damage. Hitting 10 armor nets you 0 phys. defense reduction. It's the 'neutral stat' for armor. Just like stats have neutral stats at 15 (With 1 exception)

Yeah of course. My thought process was that it might be nice to have whatever combination of stats that can afford me 1 extra hit before dying, even if that last hit is just my last 1 hp. Then maxing out on mobility/utility/speed whatever would feel good. Obviously we don't get to really pick and choose our stats all the time, but something to think about when I'm shopping in the trade channel.
I don't think the rogue has enough base HP for that to really matter, best you can really hope for it to not be hit in the head or force limb hits.
Have they said anything about having injuries like Tarkov, aka some more gold sinks, more specific meds? I think that could be cool but also maybe it doesnโt feel right in this game

Don't have the formula. Way too time consuming and difficult to do 1 thing, leave record data, go in, do 1 other different thing, record data etc... That being said, I would wager that most of the points is from opening locked/higher rarity chests, and killing elite enemies and mini bosses (Wraiths/Skeletal Captains)

When you judge the layout by whats in the middle, they're pretty different. I think there is some rooms that are reused, but the circle almost always ends in that middle room.

No, drinking a second while the first is still healing you only partially heals you. They give a status effect and drinking another before thatcruns out refreshes the effect, but does not stack.

Best way to explain without visuals is that there is a curve. The first 30 points of armor make the most difference, then it slowly loses value per point until 146-149. At 150 You start the curve going back up and gain slightly better gains per point after that

Because threholds make some armor better move to armor ratio. Do you go for only speed low armor, mid armor med speed, or high armor low speed
from what i could tell you drop down to like .1% after 50 armor. That 50 armor is a blue regal gambeson so it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me I guess.

The point is that you hit like 100 armour and you start getting 5% per point like you got with 16 armour (numbers not right, used as example(.
It's all good, my stuff will come out eventually. That being said, I like the current way tbh. Just harder to find the thresholds, but once you do it's good
Well at 10 armor you get .5% phys reduction per armor until 10 armor
So the first 20 armor you get is SUPER good
and then its .4% etc
It slowly diminishing from .5 to .4 from 20-40
Its a system of diminishing returns with thresholds that reset the values.
Then it's .4 to .3 over to 60
But once you hit 150
You start increase value per point again
So low armor gives decent gains, mid armor is so so, and high armor decent gains again
It means 'most' will fall into that middle area which is sufficient, but doesn't make you need 500 armor for decent reduction
Also makes it so Wizards can at least get 'some' phys reduction
Assuming BiS JUST for max armor, Wiz can get... lemme calkc

That may be a good idea, but the weight to damage absorption ratio is scuffed atm, the barbarians starting helm in comparison to the leather cap is silly, youre better off with a leather cap 100% of the time unless you get like a purple barbarian helm... same goes for gambersons, a regular gamberson has 25 armor and i think the nordic tunic has like 30... at the cost of -10 move speed.

from what i could tell they all stack. the shrine is a % damage reduction not a "Shield" per se. And I believe it lasts until its consumed so not a single hit.
Right but, say cleric protection is removed in one hit by a high dmg bow. Does it negate that hit or bleed over?
cleric shields for 20 damage lets say. gets hit for 25 damage. You take 5 health damage and your shield is gone

i believe cleric spells are all boost by the will stat. So you arent actually shield for 20. More like 30-40+ once you get some decent gear. for potions higher rarity give +5 to the shield per rarity from what i can tell. wizard shield i have no idea. It might scale with will. It might not.

It should scale with magical damage since I believe it was labeled as a magical buff on your weapons, but I could be wrong.

Hmm idk I've mainly used items that have additional magical percent damage or adds true magical damage, I havent tested if poison would scale with will. It wouldn't surprise me either way, however, agility is way more valuable to a rogue than will.

Yea no thats how communities get hurt/ruined. Hype is good, too much is bad, or wait to long and the game fizzles out or gets overshadowed by bigger titles. Dropping now or within the next couple months, would ensure a high player count. So many good games have fallen to taking forever to launch. There is such a thing as trying to hard for perfection. The game is 100% playable as is, hell its arguably pretty complete, minus the skill tree.

well tbh new world needed more time to bake in the oven. Great ideas and some amazing mechnics but they were worried about the wrong things, instead of fixing servers and gold dupes, they were more worried about nerfing weapons lol ironically im redownloading it to give it another go, but damn it felt barebones when it launched.
It's still just as unfinished, they've spent a year progressing in all the wrong directions because the hype train left them with a very unclear path forward

Officially the only confirmed class will be the upcoming Bard. We don't have any information on it at the moment. There was a sneak peek of other upcoming classes that are hinted to be the following (In no particular order) Artificer, Druid, Monk, Paladin, Sorcerer, Warlock

Yeah I ran around for several hours doing nothing but disarming all of the swinging blade traps in hallways, floor spikes, troll wall spikes (the ones that stab you when you reach down for suspiciously placed loot, or stabbed that pop out straight above a closed chest).
But, I'd also fight a lot, so I wasn't sure if I was getting an EXP or not doing that

Hey does anyone know if theyโre going to use the veteran adventurer scoring leaderboard as a way to assign the VA role in discord or in game? Like an apex predator rank for apex. Like top 10 or so in the leaderboard gets the role for following wipes.

if this game has wipes i hope its every 6 months or more because of how the market will work and how builds and loot and you know what i mean this kind of game would feel like dogshit if the wipes were every month or even 3 months

Its not exactly fun when I see someone in full gold fight someone with blue or less and see there's nothing for the weaker player to do.
I saw a rogue eat a headshot and take maybe 5% damage but they three shot the fighter.
i had the other experience full gold fighter and the rogue just murdered me with poison
as it should be
its about character build what you decide to bring in to be prepared utility wise the strats aswell and efficient looting and stuff thats the whole reason most of us started to play the game
what i dont get is why some people enjoy the game but constantly beg for everything fun to be removed that attracted them in the first place my duo is like that and hes just a fun vampire

Closest you'll be is probably lightfoot, crouched, with that rogue perk.
I'd say shoeless but I just realized I don't really remember what lightfoot sounds like coming from other people.

If you don't think RMT hurts the game you haven't played Tarkov. The RMT was so rampant, Devs had to change the games ruleset to disable bringing in certain items to raid to drop to your friends. It was also the #1 reason hackers existed, since they would speed/fly hack through maps, loot all the good loot before players could get near it, and even see other players inventories and focus on killing them if they managed to find something of value - All to get rich and sell it for RL cash.
i have 2000 hours in tarkov and i dont care that game was and always will be a dumpster fire due to nikita's incompetance

Yeah, I mean, auction houses encourage it, so I'm a bit worried for this game. I'd say Guild Wars 2 is a good example of what a game can be if the devs really care about smushing that. It still exists, but they keep the currency stable and ban cheaters regularly. But in this time of game where stuff disappears I think it's sadly prolly gonna be more prevalent either way.

We didn't test spell interactions this play test. However, I'm pretty sure that any spell that has a numerical value benefitted from magic power bonus

the ones outside the boss room are easy to kill, but before the playtest ended they made the ones in the boss room invincible i think, it will probably get changed more in the future
Is there any development road-map available? Are you considered adding any guild-like systems to the game? For example, easier item sharing between guild members, guild member party invite, guild-only trade-house, PvE guild boss raids, in-game guild house providing bonuses to all guild members (would be a great way to spend that extra money...).

Anyone know if players can farm XP in either of the following 2 situations:
1.) Thief compulsively disarms dungeon traps -- does he get XP per trap disarmed?
2.) If I were to kite the lich boss solo as a ranger, and just kept killing his summons -- do I get XP for killing those extra minions, or is there no XP rewarded for killing summons and/or is there an upper limit?
Summons don't grant XP, but this was only tested with mummy spiders, but I would assume it's the same with his minions. As for trap XP I don't believe so but it was too hard to validate Adventurer points and XP because the only real way to do so is only do 1 thing and then extract. Then do another thing, and extract etc...
@whole sluice Do players earn experience when killing other players? Or is it only by PvE kills?
You get it from players, but it's not that much from what we could tell

The majority of XP seemed to come from Going to the bottom floor, Escaping successfully, and killing PvE

Will there be some type of skill based match making, for example you have x amount of kills it will place you with the same players with that amount?
Will there ever be a way to skip floor 1 and go straight to floor 2, If its meant for lower geared players/beginner gear suitable groups using purples -> uniques are going to stomp squads.
the only thing similar that they said might possibly come is a high-roller lobby that has some kind of gear requirements to join

Each attack in the sequence has its own damage value. Most of them are all the same but some are different.
I was about to say! I did* indeed notice hitting things harder with the 3rd attack in some combos but my noticing of any pattern was too inconsistent to know what weapons were doing so.

Next test while you're in a match you can open your character with an equipped weapon to see the damage numbers.

It's base (Flat bonuses included) weapon damage before phys %, skill bonuses and hit multipliers

I thought it included all the internal multipliers and additions, the arming sword I had showed as 19-20 and a head shot against the dummy pulled 29-30 damage.
Maybe there just weren't enough bonuses to really show up on a sword that weak.
Or you didn't have any. So Any + Weapon, +Phys, +True Phys would be shown on the base and then in ( ) after
So a weapon could show 56.13 (+ 11 Pierce) for instance
And since your character sheet doesn't reflect skills/body multiplier it won't show 'optimal' damage
