Save game and open console right after. Check the items saved line. You'll see how many you have, but that doesn't impact overall performance, just the area these items are in, like your base. If you wander into the ~260m radius of your base or leave the ~360m radius around it it will cause a lagspike, and looking directly at the stash will drop your frames a bit. Other than that I don't know

I had this issue for a long time, especially when I had my bases set for a long time, gathering parts and components I rarely if ever used, causing the lagspikes.

@vast pumice Anomaly has a limit of a total of 65535 objects (IDs) in the game. Whenever the game engine generates a new enemy with items, it tags the object ID number to the enemy unit and its items.
The same goes for traders & their items, every time you interact with the trader and visit a new place and kill an enemy and check their loot, you make the game engine generate ID numbers. If that ID number reaches 65535, the game crashes, and you won't be able to play anymore on that same game file, unless you "free" some IDs.
You can lower the amount of used IDs by letting items despawn or by selling/donating them at any trader.

Like during Barrier defence once I reloaded like 10 times because me or my companions kept dying to RPG spam.
