The Gatorade gym has a combination of (slightly) higher stamina drain and slow stamina regen. Probably easier to practice dunk timing in the practice facility or Brickley gym for offline timing. Online timing the dew/Mobil and other courts like that could work (haven't used them much)

I see this argument a lot but I can't say I understand it. No 2k has felt like a "copy paste" job since I got my first 2k of the 8th Gen consoles (2k16). Some of these differences have been good (16, and this year's changes have felt especially great) but no two games feel exactly the same. If elements seem "copy pasted" it's because you cannot possibly change the fundamental game of basketball OR because some flaws are so tricky to weed out that they're unable to be fully addressed in a meaningful way.

idk how you feel that way. I know for a fact 21 and 22 were the same game. All they did was change the shot meter. This game isn't much different. They change very minimal things and advertise it as the same game. You say you've been playing since 16 so maybe that's why. Earlier 2ks had far few glitchiness which made the games more fun. 23 is so animation heavy it reminds me of Madden. The game is purely dictated on which animation you get opposed to real skill. I will say, I don't mind that it's harder to shoot, but, their contest system is still awful and height doesn't matter. I'm also solely speaking from playing AI as I enjoy online leagues with friends. These weren't problems on some of the older games. There's things they can change, they just don't care to do it. There are also features lacking on Next Gen that are on Current Gen. There are a few things they could take off and just improve gameplay but won't. The dancing kids been doing the same dance routine and song since 19. They hyped up the Jabawoockezs and they have 2 dance routines lol. Commentary is the same with no advancement through the years. In year 10... still talking about Paolo being a rookie.

the elements of the game are essentially the same. One guy on YT was explaining Madden and he may have said it best. "It's easy to seem improved when the game isn't good." The fact that 2k claims to be a simulation is probably why most bash it. It doesn't simulate real basketball at all. Big man gameplay is actually made to play small. Go post up someone like Trey Young with KD and watch the defensive animations Young gets.

Make a free flowing passing system, or make ppl be accurate with directions on defense.

Example, I shouldn't just push steal and the game slides me to the right bc that's where the pass is going. Or push Y and I automatically jump towards the person shooting even that means jumping backwards. Make me aim where I want to go for blocks and steals. That'll tone all that down. Make holding up on the right thumbs tick be height based and have no higher than like a 30% contest. I hoop, I'm nowhere near the shooter NBA players are but I can shoot. Most ppl my same height 5'10 don't bother my shot by just holding their hand up. To be using like a 6'8 shooter and have someone like 6'3 hold their hand up and get a 80% contest bc their PD is an 85 is stupid and unrealistic.

I will say one more thing that is positive about 23. I think this is the case, but you do seem to shoot slower when you're tired. Fatigue should affect your shooting meter unless you have that badge to counter it.

I feel like passing in 2k is odd at times because we aren't 1st person. Everyone can see a lot more than their player should. I try to move to odd spots to stop people standing in the 'easy steal spots.' I'll try to post stand post on them at mid range or high post until the ball crosses half court. A lot of people stand in the exact same spots on offense too so the defense knows where to be. Think that's a common thing at different levels of play in games.

I'd like to think the speed is tied to attributes but there's variation in the animations. I think its another thing where specifics wold be nice. Like if we should expect floating in a crossbody or cross court pass. Some of these situations have to be better for overhead or bounce but sometimes I'm not sure.

I think I k ow what you meant by free flow but I think the ball is live during passes. That would make it so people can steal it. Older 2ks the pass animations would've just clipped through people if they mistimed or out of position.

yeah but now if they're out of position it'll just slide them in the way of the past. Alot of the one hand catch animations are bad too. Attributes do play a part, you're correct, but because someone is a bad passer doesn't mean the animation of the pass needs to be super slow. Centers in real life may not throw pinpoint passes all the time, but they don't throw the ball .5 mph lol

The ones I hate are the one hand catch going the opposite direction. I think the interceptor badge unlocks the animations and the attribute is a 2 part gate. Probably overthinking it. It's probably also the point to use your teammates. If your bad at passing do a safer/cautious pass (basically a handoff). Could have a team where everyone's build is 86 passing (like teams of 3 perimeter defenders) and sling passes easier. I assume most people don't want to prioritize higher passing ratings. Passing styles having animation variations could be interesting. Could have chances of triggering floaty or long windup passes based on wingspan and attributes

That's not a bad thought at all. They could add aiming to lead passing. One of the most frustrating things about playing AI is how your ppl always stop to catch a pass, which allows the defense to catch up. Ratings don't matter for AI which is another annoying thing. They'll try to sauce you up dribbling with Jusuf Nurkic, as to where if you try a cross combo with him you'll stumble and junk lol. I just know they can fix a lot of the glitchy problems if they focus on it. But bc the 2KL and YT ppl love all the spamming, they'll never care to fix it for those who enjoy basketball.

There's a certain amount of leading with the passes. I do it all the time on accident by never resting my left stick. I do agree that the AI seems to decide what to do more now and not run the break effectively. If the AI is doing something weird on offense I always suggest checking ratings and tendencies. Especially tendencies. I remember a few plays in 22, Garland and Sexton driving a lot more than I expected. Checked the tendencies and it was right there. Sexton even had a tendency to shoot contested mid and short IIRC. The roster team is separate from the mode/gameplay teams IIRC.

Man our players won't even run after we get the rebound lol. They just trot up the court even if your pace is on push the ball lol. 2K directional passing is HORRIBLE. It almost never passes to who you are wanting to.
That is one thing I will say is tough to create, tendencies. Since Steph shooting is on 99, he'll shoot like 40 shots on the game, but he's not that selfish in real life lol. Idk how they can fix that one. That's why GS is always so bad on 2k in seasons. Then bc Dray is undersized he gets bullied and is a non factor, but in real life he rarely gets bullied and is an effective rebounder.

I'm hoping at some point 2kshare goes cross platform and everyone has access to the work of community roster makers for tendencies. To take advantage of agility to rebound in 2k it seems like you have move non stop and slip by the box out. It's way easier for the AI to box you out than PvP situations in my experience. It's a weird space for me think of solutions. You could make it so high strength allows moving weaker players but that removes player control. You could reduce the chance to trigger contact in the paint for smaller players but that reduces effectiveness of a larger rebounder

I think the biggest problem is the difference in intelligence from your AI vs CPU. Your players just play a lot dumber and it's almost like the game expects you to control everyone at the same time. The passes and shots AI gets away with are annoying, but probably a little more realistic and would be great if we got the same love. You and AI could shoot the exact same shot with the same player and same defense and theirs would be like a 20% contest and yours would be like a 55%. It's small things like this that ruin the game. Just bc you're standing by me doesn't mean you're affecting my shot. That's why rec is so annoying. Steal spammers can miss the steal but because they're standing somewhat close, their contest percentage deters you from shooting.

I think that's how the sliders for difficultly work. In Mycareer at least. I interpret the names as how you have to play. Pro to Superstar your teammates effectiveness/consistency is reduced. Hall of Fame 'boosts' the opponent. It's not supposed to be fair. I think if steals planted the feet for a few seconds it would open up driving and taking mid range shots to punish the steal attempt. Might not be that effective with how big the defender is or how fast their teammates rotate in PvP

That's a good way to look at it. I get HoF. But they would need to add a realistic or simulation level option then. SS too easy and HoF is ridiculous lol. Slider adjustments only seem to help so much. I def agree there has to be some type of punishment for missed steals. I've stated before the game rewards bad defense.

Sorry I missed this. 21 and 22 were decidedly NOT the same game, at least on Next Gen. A lot of the issues from 21 were shored up in 22, namely the wide lanes to the hoop. PnR defense was markedly improved. Some things also regressed, namely the removal of shot aiming for me. It wasn't all steps forward, but they were markedly different games. As for the claim that "very minimal things have changed," again, this is where I'd say that you cannot possibly reinvent the wheel. It's still basketball at its core. Between the changes to dribbling and shooting, again I feel marked improvements in the basketball elements to the game this year.

There are still things that can improve. I agree that the contest system could be updated. Imo, going to a model similar to that of the NBA Dashboard, which measures defender distance rather than a fictional "contest percentage" would be helpful. However, claiming that they "don't care to change things" falls really, really flat. If you don't believe me, just watch a Czar stream. It's very clear that the devs take their job seriously and they put a lot of thought into the changes that they do make. If you're judging this on cosmetic things, you're going to have a rough time with me, and I'd just tell you that they don't really matter. They are very easily ignored to me. Commentary-wise, yes, it gets pretty stale, but it's also the best commentary out of any game I've played in this field. It seems that commentary can only go so far and that's okay... I'd also say that perhaps height matters too much, and has for a long time.

Technically I've been playing since 13, so I've seen my fair share of glitches, but between 13 and 23, gigantic strides have been made to make this game feel like basketball. The sheer volume of plays, freelances and series present are a massive improvement over the past. Idk, I just think the whole argument falls flat when you see how far we've actually come

Height matters too much? Def not when it comes to defending. That's why the mid range shot is so irrelevant (no I'm not talking about post fades). You're saying it's basketball at its core but a lot of pure basketball elements are missing when it comes to how your teammates play. Whether it's half trying on screens, not even running plays right, not running at all, or even everyone converging to where you are. You shouldn't have to call for an iso everytime you get a mismatch in the post. I'm actually okay with the game looking a little less realistic if it fixes the gameplay. Not sure how we have balls and arms morphing through ppls bodies which is hella annoying. They added more animations to trigger by the rim which takes away authenticity. In fact, layups are dang near irrelevant because they get blocked at such a high rate. Running jumpers take too long, half the time the pass buttons don't work correctly. Why make a bounce pass button if when I push it my player will still throw a chest pass at times? Those are things that annoy me. I get people are gonna find exploits and use them, but if some of the little things mattered more, it would help out. I know on 22 and 20 there was almost no point in making a SF unless they were Rebounding Wings. To me, when I play 23 in my season, I don't even have fun, because the game is so predetermined by animations. Trey Young getting chase down blocks, Pat Bev and Steph Curry snatch blocking 6'10 PFs hook shots. In close games, AI won't even put their stars in at times because their rotations are all about minutes. The way a player slows down automatically when they get to a certain spot by the 3. I've seen AI ruin fast break attempts against me, bc the player would stop or slow down drastically at certain spots on the court, that's annoying. These are fixable things. But I will admit I made a mistake. 20 and 21 were essentially the same game with a different shot meter. I understand part of that was due to COVID.

Also, why is shooting so slow? You can't even shoot shots with ppl like Jokic, because the defense covers so much ground when jumping, but if you watch him in real life, he almost never gets blocked. Another thing, why does fatigue only affect offense? When a player is tired, he should become a little sluggish and jump less. But not on 2k lol

I don't notice most of these things. My plays run almost entirely correctly. Sometimes certain defensive actions do break them, but then all you need to do is improvise and change the plan for the possession

I think we may have different experiences in this regard. Taller players definitely seem to defend better, and I've noticed great relevancy in the midrange game (perhaps more than ever, with 3 point shooting being a bit more difficult). I end up taking a ton of them.

I have noticed this exactly zero times lol. Chase downs are hard to come by for anyone, just ask all the people who want to see more of em lol.

Most of this is just ranting though. There's not really much I can take away here in terms of an actual discussion. Shots being slower doesn't really effect that much to me (?), just have to be cognizant of the openness of the player, and then I move on from a player if a particular slow shot is bugging me.

Sure. But depending on the scenario, you can edit that shot. You said you mostly play online leagues, I'm sure they'd approve editing that shot to make it a hair quicker

20 and 21 were also markedly different. A lot of 20's issues (namely the Giannis BTB glitch) were eliminated in 21. 21 also had the innovation of shot aiming. There were definite differences. Some worked, others didn't (I'd argue that shot aiming was fantastic, especially on Next Gen, but alas the Zen-ers ruined that), but there were differences

I've had more than my fair share of weird animations, sure, but ultimately, it's a video game. It's virtually impossible to get rid of any and all of that weirdness.

I'd start working on building your MT stack, either just playing the game or by learning the Auction House and then try to find some ways to get some of the trophy pieces and start working toward those. Yea the value of vc has gone up tremendously. Almost 100k to upgrade physicals let alone, not being able to earn over 2k in a mycareer game.

Max contract for career should be at least 2500 to 4000 vc a game since some upgrades from 36 to 45 on the shorter max ends cost damn near 30k

Stats are based on performance over a particular period of time. They're not going to make daily updates to attributes, that's basically what Moment cards are/were for.

I think you have to beat one of the district quest to be able to call plays, I’m not sure on that though

I know for me it’s left on the d-pad to bring up the quick menu for plays and LB allows me to select a teammate to call a play for

If it's your first 2k try going into Play Now and trying 2kU. It'll walk you through executing a bunch of the controls. As far as shooting it is more difficult than recent years. Starting idea would be to try to release at the peak of the shot. Try going into options and turning on shot feedback so you know if your releasing late or early.

I think the above advice is sound. In addition, I think the shooting system is a little convoluted - there is a window of time during the jump shot where getting a green release is possible and a smaller window within that window where a green release is guaranteed. Because of that, there is some RNG in that first window where you could release with the exact same timing but get different results.

#🔋gameplay Could you guys add all the jerseys and courts that are in the game for each team in my career. I’m playing on Brooklyn nets and they don’t have the black statement and the new city jersey. Also the courts that go with the jersey are not available in my career. They are in the game in other game modes just not in my career. Could someone take a look at this.

No way he should start a new my career to get the New Jersey’s you would still have to do a bunch of quests just to unlock that feature. Not to mention it costs money to do so. It needs to fixed in a patch.

Yes I put a message yesterday that this needs to be fixed they added a bunch of new city jerseys and the statement ones are still not accessible along with the courts
