It depends on what happens, but I agree with you for the most part. There could be a situation out there within the next year where a team can trade the Nets some young players + draft picks for Durant. Kind of similar to the Pelicans and Lakers trade involving Anthony Davis.

I don't think so. Everyone should respect Wilt, Russell, Mikan, West, Cousy, etc contributions to the game because those guys are part of the foundation of the NBA. With that said, the ridiculous stats some of those guys output should be placed into proper context.

The only thing those guys did was dominate the game in the era they played in, which is all you could ask of them.

That’s one of the issues, if you were to retire someones number like bill russell. How come you can’t do the same with someone like wilt, kobe, etc. They’d have to retire those guys numbers because they were atleast close to or even better than bill’s level of greatness. I just think they shouldn’t retire his number across the league

Not only was Russell an all-time great player, but he was also a civil rights and human rights activist. He had a great impact on not only African-American players, but also African-American coaches and human rights outside of the game of basketball.

That's partly why Jackie Robinson's number is retired throughout baseball but other all-time greats are not done that way. Yes, Kobe and Wilt are clearly all-time greats, but Russell's impact helping to tear down racial barriers not only in the NBA, but in the United States is a large reason as to why they are doing this with him vs. not doing it with other legendary players.

I can get down with that, it seems like the only possible thing when you have the "bigger faster stronger, more skilled" crowd because like I mentioned, 20 years from now there'll be someone who is competitive to LeBron's legacy because skill will only become higher. I love both players, I even like LeBron more than Mike. But I do think if we're comparing the players from different eras, Michael is better. For now at least, LeBron still has a case to make to become the GOAT imo.

For the average basketball fan though, so thinking about people that don't often participate in discussions, I imagine Wilt is underrated. But for people who do dig deeper and converse about it I think people have made great cases for why they place him so high. I don't think he's #1. I could probably place him top 15, though. Never really thought about anything besides my #1 and #2 and favorite players (which I have no idea where I'd rank them, mostly just talking about playstyle).. it'd be too hard to make a top 10 I think. Yeah, that's fair, but they have a lot more issues that prevent them from winning games outside of Westbrook. For instance, the Lakers, as a team, are one of the worst defensive teams in the league. Yes, part of that is Westbrook, part of it is injuries, but another part of it is they just put lackluster effort on defense.

Either way they can't do anything this season anyways unless they can find a way to get veterans for cheap. They have max money in 3 players all of which are old or injury prone. All they've been able to get so far is lonnie walker which is nice but not game changing.

At some point, whether it be in this off-season or by the trade deadline, I think Westbrook's value will increase. He's an expiring $47 million contract, so someone will be interested in that, especially if the Lakers tie in some draft picks. I would assume at some point Kyrie gets traded by the Nets, otherwise he can just walk next off-season (unless they plan to re-sign him to a long term deal).

I think it's fair to say that Nash's head coaching didn't seem to be great. The issue is that Durant publicly called for him to be removed from the team, and there are a few instances where Kyrie Irving has shown what appears to be disregard for Nash. I just wonder how much this team can come together under Nash's leadership when the two best players probably don't have his ultimate respect.

Not directing this at anyone here, but people need to chill with the Chet Holmgren is a bust talk. Looks like his foot injury was a fluky occurrence. He could use the year off to gain more weight and muscle being in an NBA strength and conditioning program.

Ben Simmons and Blake Griffin missed their entire rookie seasons. Joel Embiid missed his entire first two years in the NBA. Not saying Chet will be as good as any of those guys, but those are examples of other players who have missed their first full season (or more) and came back to be excellent players.

If Mitchell works out, Cleveland should contend for a few years, but they gave up a ton of draft capital in this trade.

They only have him under total team control for three years, with a player option for Year 4. They have to show consistent progress or he could bolt as a free agent.

Yea but scared money doesn't make money and with klove coming off the books soon they can make alot of noise. Honestly they could have made the playoffs last season if they didn't have injuries to 2 major players.
