There will not be independent pages for other subnautica 2 content for now.
Once the game is released, it will be a different matter. But ATM everything is relegated to the information we receive from developers and official press statements.
Will that page end up being abandoned down the line
I mean in favor of whatever yall choose
As always stated,
Nothing is truly set in stone.
Fair, we'll see when we see
i noticed that the fact that many items in the game beeing crafted with things only found on that planet, like some plants, means that version exist using other sources
like the Batteries with the acid mushroom
also, i saw atleast a few new Alterra Products allready
- the sub
- Arm Boosters
- new Tank design
- the diving suits
Scanner is also changed, so its a diffrent, likly newer model
Not confirmed to be Alterra, as we see no logos
And the PDA at the start of the game says that the blueprints have been tweaked to use readily available materials in the planet. The Neptune also has a tweaked blueprint.
looks to be but well now when the alpha is out io guess
i love that the PDA has an actual reason for the blue prints to be missing
i wonder how the blue print thing will be handeled in 2
in 1 the PDA was in Emergency reboot
and in BZ the PDA is missing a bunch of Alterra Entries because Robin haddnt upgraded to the new Alterra PDAs Xenoworks was getting
Maybe it's like "You got the standard pioneer package which only has the bare minimum"
bio sampler
I'm not sure if I'm having a mandela effect, but did there used to exist an image of the sea emperor from the subnautica teaser trailer on the wiki, but featuring a different model of the sea emperor? I swear I remember seeing this on the wiki back in like 2016, it was the same frame as the end of the teaser trailer but the model was different, the head was more spherical
it was a variation of this but with a different model
I don't recall the wiki having a different model of the Sea Emperor in the same shot as the trailer
There is an early concept art of the Sea Emperor on the wiki where it has claws for hands though
I'll always find it funny how they showed it off as some huge sea monster and never had any intention to make it hostile
I doubt it, the sea emperor only appears in one teaser. trailer.
Probably just a mandela effect
i wonder if they are going to do that with the cathulu thing in the new trailer
So, we have SN for Subnautica, BZ for Subnautiuca: Below Zero, are we doing SN2 or S2 for Subnautica 2?
SN2 seems to be the most used term
Alrighty, that's what I was thinking.
Wasn't sure if we wanted something shorter since SN2 is three characters and not two like the ones the first two games have.
true... S2N?
NS2
thats natural selection 2
It's NubSautica 2 now
I can get behind this
SN2 just makes the most sense since the first subnautica is SN
No reason to break tradition
Does "cannot edit due to contradicting information" mean someone already pressed undo
Oh seemingly yeh
It means someone made another edit already
I feel like the subnautica 2 krafton report reference link should be updated to the newer version as the current one is outdated and the new one is the corrected informed one
(I could of worded that better)
are the sunbeams radio dates hard set? the wiki is giving me diffent info then what I got.
They're time based, but you only proceed to the next one if you answer the previous call. If you never listen to them, they just won't come.
.
i mean they made us think about it like anyone in game would have prob reacted to it when first seeing it
it was me id do
SN
SN-BZ
SN-2
i kinda want a Subnautica / Natural Selection universe Strategy Game ykn
playing as a TransGov and expanding it
2
SauNubTica
SOUP
Nautica 2
Does anyone know where you can find the Multiplayer Mod for Subnautica and does the Mod work on Steam?
And how much does it cost?
This channel is for wiki discussion...
Nitrox, the multi-player mod, is currently only available on Steam. It's free, if you have Subnautica. Join their server in #subnautica-modding for help.
on the Paul Torgal page it says this scene from the trailer features Paul Torgal. Is this true? I always assumed this was Bart
and the image on the wiki is literally named bart3
I always thought that was Paul moments before death
I think he followed a light after getting attacked by the Reaper, and then drowned/bled out.
The light was presumably a crabsquid right?
There are Mesmer eggs nearby
So he could've equally went towards their eggs or even an adult mesmer i guess
The fact he thought it was Bart makes me think it was a Mesmer, but that's speculation
Like it actually using its mesmerizing ability?
The trailer is of Bart, though
I hadn't really thought of that, quite a compelling theory
helo kiro
i know that biomes name
we can’t know really, I think it was assumed to be Paul since he looks to be getting killed by the Crabsquid in the DGR, where Paul probably died and it’s shown whilst Bart talks about how they shouldn’t have gone down there. But I guess there is no way to know if it’s actually meant to portray Paul or Bart but given that the rest of the trailer shows him, probably Bart
And considering the picture is named bart it's solid to lean towards it
that’s just what whoever took the screenshot named the picture
they don’t
Yea figured not
Just started a new game and went looking at the center'ish vents to use as a power source. Noticed that the map genie shows 3 vents in the safe shallows while the wiki lists only one. After having spent a good amount of time looking through the caves, I can only identify two locations. Checked the wiki a bit more and discovered that the actual biome page for the shallows shows the 2 I found, but the listing under the crater maps page only has one for the shallows.
just checked something
Pauls recordings talk about one of those breaking the bases hull in his last log
while barts last one is back on the island where he seemingly died alone after some time
in the last recording of the degasi itself you can actually hear that bart barely missed the crabsquid attack
and managed to get out alive and to the surface wich means he swam up 500 meters and avoided the ghost
It's hard to say if the creature placement would've been the same back then
There could easily have not been a ghost in the environment
wait i read wrong lol
it was the reaper
bart barely avoided the reaper attack
we also a confirmation line that degasi knows the cyclops an dhow big it is
nah she dragged it back to base with her bare hands fr (im joking pls dont take me seriously)
Ngl I use the wiki for subnautica role play stuff...
Nothing to be ashamed of, glad we're able to help
I wish there was a way to get pinged when there are changes to the sn2 page
Itd be a strange thing to set up since it would be pretty pointless by release
If you're logged in, you can watch the page (bottom of the 3-dot dropdown at the top-right of the article). From there, you can set your notifications to email you whenever someone edits that page (and any other page you choose to watch).
Useful to know
Oh thx
i still have my massive list of vehicle and charachter info including the cut story BZ charachter things saved btw if anyone needs any info
Hey wikibros, felt like yall may want to see this thread. Some users are pointing out some inconsistencies. https://www.reddit.com/r/subnautica/s/MHqTOANNIO
Ughhh the comment itself is wrong, it is indeed in the Bulb Zone
But the Bulb Zone page needs updating
Just the creature list or as a whole?
Stalkers also spawn in that same area where the Reaper does
Oh yeah, I'm guessing this is your comment here:
Fandom can't "sue" anyone for forking or moving wikis away, as the person who replied to you stated the wiki uses an open license that allows for remix, destribution and etc of the work, it only needs to be properly attributed.
Unless the license is something like All Rights Reserved.
I see. I was told something else but I trust you more, I'll delete that comment
Fandom, Miraheze, Wiki.gg, ShoutWiki, Telepedia and more wiki farm hosts all use roughly the same open free CC licenses, a combination of CC-BY-SA, CC-BY-NC-SA, CC-BY-NC etc. etc. You can see the differences of each on the creative commons website. But basically, any company can word their Terms of Use/Service however they want, but they can't sue people if the content they are hosting is being released under a freely usable and shareable license, you just can't modify the license after moving it from someplace, like Fandom per instance. So if it was CC-BY-NC-SA, you can't monitise any of the content you use.
Does that mean this Fandom can be monetized?
They could because we use CC-BY-SA 3.0, but that's if anyone decided to use or modify the content from the Fandom Wiki and have it elsewhere.
But that's not officially planned in any capacity right now.
Gotcha, thank you this has been informative
idk if anyone remembers this but there was a point in the trivia section of the giant cove tree article which stated this:
why did it get removed? was it false information? i remember asking about this a while ago and went to look for this smaller tree for a while but couldn't find anything
they are hiding it
Ask in #subnautica-chat …this chat is about the subnautica wiki
Hey so this is super niece and specific but I was on the wiki for blue barnacles and noticed this line.
I know a lot of the ins and outs of this game yet have never heard of any of the plants doing this. so does anyone know the others that can turn white when killed.
So I have been experimenting and apparently slanted coral shell plates also do this but it’s not stated anywhere on their wiki
Also just found treespawn will do it
@normal quiver
ty for the ping!

Woah, they made a whole channel just for me?
And you have your own bot: @willow vector .
Hello all, new to the discord, but not to the games 🙂 But Just wondering if anyone out there is a bit of a wiki guru could help me out in linking a picture to a page. 🙂
@ everyone should get the job done
@sharp oak when you have a chance can you double check the alien containment page pls, I was looking at the data box locations and it says you can get it at bulb zone wrecks but my map shows that it isn't there. What do you think?
This server has 100k people. Not convinced that that is a great idea
Nevermind Ignis sent their map and it showed on it
its also there in game @fresh basin
K thanks
@mystic plinth
people who fork are even allowed to advertise it a bit but not for too long
oh and fandom likes to vandalize front pages with ads (they ruined the main page of the mcdonalds wiki to serve as an massive advert for the grimace shake)
and now fandom started to allow ads that could potentialy cause epileptic reaction btw i had one of those ads today
a full screen , explosion pop up for Delta Force
Whos hyped for subnatuica 2??????!!!!
Hm, as a wiki keeper, I'm scared of the large work load that is just around the corner. So am I excited? Partially...
Good luck, I'm not hyped for early access because I'm waiting for the finished game
nervous laughter
vehicle info !
What's a wiki keeper I'm oblivious
And I wanna know
Do u guys like

Yall messed up
Wait…
Any edit would instantly show in the #📁wiki-changes
Im gonna get called out by a bot
I need to make a new plan
Ye, I got nothing
Not sure why you are admitting to planning vandalism in the wiki chat
Not the brightest thing to do
Im too stupid to even find the edit button
And it's not just that channel you need to worry about. There's also https://subnautica.fandom.com/wiki/Special:RecentChanges.
You probably won't see an edit button until you've made an account.
I have one but I’m too lazy to guess my password…I’ve got like 12 passwords that I use across multiple websites and apps
Yeah, we disabled Anonymous (IP) editing on the wiki.
What if someone were to use a different account on a completely different device
- VPN
just curious
Anonymous editing means editing without an account. We call it IP editing because, instead of crediting a username, it credits whatever IP address you're editing from.
Can we remove the second trivia point for the seamoth?
why
Cuz it's a bit inappropriate
I'm not askin yall anyways >->
While it is inappropriate. It is still a thing that existed in game.
Personally. I dislike censoring silly things like this. It defeats the purpose of documention.
I mean as Terranhawk said it was in the game at some point, I don't see why it should be removed just because the game itself is PG
PG isn't a game rating ;-;
it is in Australia
It's unfortunate that the game had to deal with that, but documentation is more important.
It was removed to keep a low rating from what i understood. It wouldve made it a mature game or at least teen at the time
pretty sure that reasoning was for changing the blood colour, I think the creative lead asked the sound designer to remove the audio file just because they weren't comfortable with it since they had a larger, younger player base
Oh i thought it was the seamoth line 💀
The blood looks more alien not being red so
Mb ill see myself out
I didnt realize it was the blood color. I thought we were discussing the funky lil seamoth line that was- sus.
no we were, I'm saying that changing a feature because it would have increased the age rating was the blood colour not the seamoth voice line
Probably a couple other things that got changed in favor of the rating
I want my weapons to brawl with da big fishies. Sadly we cant have those. Wish the wiki explained why other than in a "beat around the bush" lore way.
Wdym
The uh
Whats it called
Reason weapon bp were removed from fabricators
From some massacre
Something prime i think
are you asking why the devs didn't include weapons in the game?
That would be because of a real life school shooting
They decided they didn't wanna make a violent game
As genuinely tragic as that is, god bless the families.. natural selection 2...
Good call for a non violent game but
main reason was they just finished developing natural selection 2, which was a shooter, and wanted to develop a non-shooter game
I think brawling with fish would be funny
They had finished Natural Selection 2, which is a very gun intense game. They wanted to do something different. There are multiple factors.
That too
Yeah i didnt know it was a school shooting factor 😅
I just feel bad now 😬
no reason to feel bad
it's not like it's common knowledge
plus, the shooting wasn't the main factor behind the decision
Well to be fair it is a dystopian future
So thats prob why too
Lore and a memorial move
Imo at least
Anthony expressed they are thinking of ways to make it so players stop killing fish. Why think when you can just stab a leviathan or punch a shark? They played around with them being unkillable, and instead offering more tools for players to think before acting. As long as you can kill something, no matter how inconvenient or long, players will always choose that over improving. Even if there's no reward. SN and BZ prove that.
Does subnautica take place in a dystopian future?
It does
Yew
Terraria dungeon guardian type stuff
You work for a cartoonishly evil company in the future, one that values profits over safety of their workers. And it's normalized.
Not sure "players will always choose that" is quite accurate, a large crowd keep hostile life alive so the game still has challenge
I haven't read many of the world-building PDA logs but from the ones I have read it doesn't seem like the world is what I would call "dystopian"
It depends on what you call dystopian
Corporate hell is dystopian enough for me
I wonder if subnautica 2 is going to tell us more about the world
Its like a bunch of micro governments
Theres a term.
I forget it.
The type of governments that formed
Trans-govs 🏳️⚧️ 🧑🏫
Did the Cis-govs get wiped out?
this is probably just because we haven't actually seen the external world through the lens of characters yet
What is "external world"?
what life is like in the subnautica universe outside of 4546B
Well we likely won't be getting a first hand look
We see the profiles of multiple trans-govs, including their origins. And also hear people from those different trans-govs.
Information is quite sparse
Even the most knowledgeable don't really know that much
We know what it's like living in Alterra space, and what people think about it. And what 3rd parties think of it too.
UW should release a lore Bible or sumin
honestly I don't know much about Subnautica's lore, I don't really enjoy reading chunks of texts in game to get the lore, I prefer engaging with character driven stories
and if what Andy is saying is true then the lore just kind of sounds like generic sci-fi dystopian world which isn't that interesting to me
I wouldn't call it generic
In SN, it is super generic, sure
But BZ paints it in a different way
Seeing the characters talk to their families about their work, it's really touching
I really need to replay below zero at some point I've forgotten 90% of that game's story
But it's all lore, not a campaign or anything
Everything already happened, or is happening in the background
Old BZ story was pretty good
It's just that games about being alone don't tend to have much contact with other people
It'd feel a bit weird if it happened any other way
maybe they'll make some spinoff project to explore Alterra
I think the problem is more the community not wanting to read
The info is there, but the Subnautica community is strangely anti-reading
I'm a part of the problem
It isn't the subnautica community specifically
I don't like to read much when I'm playing a game
Text dumps just get ignored in games alot
give me a Subnautica novel though and I'll read the hell out of that
I think text dumps are still pretty good
Those who are interested can read the stories, and those who don't want to read, watch YouTubers narrating those stories. Win for everyone.
I mean, it worked out for Necrit
I searched them up and saw Arcane and immediately backed away
somehow I still haven't had season 2 spoiled for me yet
Yea sorry
But outside of Arcane, his videos are just reading the stories, connecting them with the others, explaining every tiny detail
It's not a lot of work, other than the fact they're super long, but I think it's a nice approach
I read the stories and then watch him for any details I've missed
Though you run the risk of them not understanding the lore...
They can spread misinformation without intending to
Oh, if that's the case then stop watching that YouTuber
And there's also reddit, people aren't helpful but they love correcting each other.
the only subnautica "lore" youtuber I think I've watched is Aletho and the bacon guy
Reddits like a 50/50
Loving to correct people doesn't mean you're right as it were
Yeah. Communities either dont like reading lore, they read but dont understand so they babble and spread the wrong info, or they read it, cant understand bc its poorly worded/written so they create crazy conspiracy theories that start controversy in the community. So if youre gonna make them read, make sure they want to or at least the vast majority will read and make sure it is executed well
If you're wrong, someone will correct you. And if that someone is wrong, someone else will correct them
Sometimes i say something blatently wrong about something idk anything about so someone will correct me and give me correct info.
The moon is made of cheese
It's made of moon rocks*
Moon runes.
Works every time
honestly I can't imagine many subnautica fans actually care about the game's story, let alone the lore of the franchise.
I care about it, but fishing with my hands is funny and the radio is a yappatron
I like the story and i want to learn abt my mans fate but the fish need petting.
BZ proved that so well. People didn't like the old story, and then complain they can beat the game without finishing the new story.
I like the old story and don't like that you can skip the main reason you go to 4546b
But skipping it is a conscious decision.
I was lowkey sad when they changed. If they had done some minor changes, it couldve worked and been completely different and potentially toyed with our emotions more. I love me a good game that makes me sad and or want to fight in someones honor 😔
I don't really get your point? I don't see why a person couldn't dislike the old story but also be annoyed you can skip the new story. That actually sounds like a person who would be invested in the story since they want a quality one they can experience in full
A game that makes you feel like you as the player have a big purpose thats more than haha funny level completion screen yk?
It's confusing sorry I'm trying to rewrite my message
It's not one Robin would ever make though
A choice like this would make more sense in sn1 where ryley isn't really much of a character, but we know Robin
I can't actually remember the last time a game's story has made me sad
seems to be a common theme these days
I mainly play bz bc i can load up a crapton of seatruck modules and imagine being a semitruck driver who is fortunate enough to not have to deal with annoyin drivers or any laws. 😅
And mods are cool
Titanfall 2 flashbacks
Then they threw with apex but thats said and done 🫡😔
If done right. Some just leave me confused
We gettin off topic. Run.
I meant me not being able to remember things
Ohh
Old BZ was story-first, people didn't like that. And then in the new one, said players focus on the gameplay and not story, which leads to it being skipped. If someone was more worried about leaving the planet than the fate of her sister, that does mean something. It's likely that the players want to learn about the story without having to be invested in it. Without having to go out of their way to learn more. In SN, you can't really ignore the story, because you're required to go to the LZ to turn off the QEP, and you're required to turn off the QEP to launch. They're connected enough that it doesn't matter much, but Sam and Al-An are completely distinct, and finishing one will not lead you to the end of the other. The game is designed in a way that the gameplay leads you to Al-An, and if you want to learn about Sam, you need to be really interested. Because the medium they use for Sam's whole plot is PDA entries, something that only the most invested players care to read.
I honestly think that some of the s1 and bz communties just like big fishies. The rest be darned.
That's seems more of a short-coming of the game than it does an issue with the player base
It's a bit of both
Subnautica story is one for fans of books, and the people who play the games happen to be those who don't like books
when does Subnautica play (only the part the player experiences) and if you know where do you got your info from
nvm i got it myself thanks anyways
so i have a question: if the outbreak and quarantine happened around 1000 years before we arrive (alien data originates from 10.000 - 1000 years before SN and the Fauna Reproductive Data says the outbreak/mass extinction happened 1000 years before we arrive) and the blade from the alien facility is dated to be from the 13th century (supported by blood samples on the blade) and Subnautica happens in the 22 century then there must be a small mistake because the outbreak and quarantine thereby happened 12th century while the blade is from the 13 th century
We know SN is in late 22nd century because of a BZ PDA about a hoverboard tournament, I think.
And SN is two years before BZ.
Something about my former comment: I’ve been thinking about the timeline in Subnautica (SN) and its connection to the Precursors. Specifically, my theories were:
The Precursors returned to the planet at some point, Subnautica actually takes place earlier than stated, based on the age of a sword found in the game, or the planet quarantine happened later than the PDA suggests.
Let’s break it down:
Subnautica is stated to take place in the late 22nd century.
According to the PDA, the quarantine/destruction of the Precursor research facility happened 1,000 years prior, which would place it in the late 12th century.
However, there’s a blade in the game that is dated to the 13th century, which raises a question: the planet should have already been under lockdown by that point, preventing the blade’s presence.
For research, I asked ChatGPT to give me examples of swords from the 13th century that match the in-game blade. One result stood out: the Mongolian Dao, which has nearly all the same features as the blade found in SN (curved shape, ornaments, a leather-wrapped handle, and even the cute animal head on the hilt).
This connection makes sense for several reasons:
- The Precursors were active in Eastern Europe and Asia (evidenced by the yin-yang statue and other cultural references).
- Many elements in Subnautica are already linked to Mongolia (e.g., the Mongolian megacorporation Torgaljin).
- Historically, the Mongolian Dao was in use as from the 7th century, meaning that the Precursors could have brought the blade to the Planet from the 7th century through the 13th century, but they must have left the planet around the 13th century, as that’s when the blade is dated according to the PDA.
However, this raises additional questions about the PDA’s itself: - If the PDA measured the blade’s age itself (by for example carbon dating or similar), it implies that my former theories are still not proven wrong.
- But if the PDA relies on pre-existing data the PDA would straight up lie to the player as it says that it lost its data due to the crash.
Fazit: I was right about my former mentioned 3 theories or I was wrong about those theories but the PDA is lying to the player.
correct me please if i did a mistake
I feel like the PDA is probobly lying to the player because its goal throughout the game is to keep you alive, and going to indepth on stuff like that could distract the player and end up getting them killed. bit far fetched, but its the best ive got
perhaps the sword came down from orbit from a ship that was shot down carrying it
theres a lot of possibilities my dude. maybe the Degasi was carying some artifacts on it for some reason and that was one of them and it fell into the sea during the crash.
TLDR: the sword itself may be from the year 1300, but which year 1300 it is, and when it got to 4546b mean it could possibly still make sense
The sword is in a precursor base. It was stored there by them.
I think the more likely option is it is simply a small plot hole. As someone who has been active on the wiki for sometime. You will be surprised how many tiny things like this exist.
Anyway. This chat is for the wiki. Not theories/plotholes
we know the PDA"s data got deleted, and for carbon dating it would need a physical sample to analyze. im betting its using a less reliable method of dating thaat messed up its estimate.
oh yeah it does my most favorite one is the stasis rifle plot hole
Never cook again
What should this even mean are you smart? The PDA just mentioned the scannable blade to be from earth from the 13th century. Can you even fathom how many different kinds of blades there where at the time on the whole earth (and yes the Precursers can be on the whole earth cause they are alien capable of space travel) and you seriously expect me to search up every single kind of blade during the time on the whole earth and then look at what kind of blade would fit lore wise, like Hell no i wouldnt and anyone else in here didnt care as well bc thats how you are supposed to use AI. Im not gonna search for every blade on earth at the time on my own im gonna give AI a picture of the blade alongsite a request to look up what kind of blade is similar to the given picture during the 13th century on earth and then im gonna compare those results my self. You act like AI = Bad is such a bad take you better never cook again
like what else should AI and chatbots be used for
My take on AI now days isn’t actually AI
Hey I can't find the audio for the degasi crew, is it not on the wiki? Am I going crazy? I swear they do talk in the first game, I'm 100% certain
I don't want to go through and collect it all myself:(
Okay, it was in databank and not dialogue, my mistake I guess
They even talk about the hardened blade in one of the dialogues
I could not find any mention of the degasi or it's crew
Over 10 years ago, the chief and vice chief of Torgal Corp, alongside Marguerit Maida, embarked on a mission to their new deep space station. On their journey, they attempted to land on planet 4546B (referenced in Paul Torgal's Log #2 - Dilemma). However, they were shot down. This incident occurred approximately 10 years prior to the events of Subnautica. Considering the 13-month travel time (Alterra Auxiliary Mission Orders) and the preparation and planning time for Alterra’s main and secondary missions, the Degasi was declared lost around five years later.
Thirteen months after the Degasi's disappearance, the Aurora was dispatched, partly tasked with searching for the Degasi. The Aurora, equipped with different scanners, attempted a similar landing maneuver near 4546B but was also shot down.
The Degasi crew initially landed near the Floating Island and constructed habitats there. However, a storm and falling debris destroyed their habitat and grow beds, forcing them to relocate to the Jellyshroom Caves to gather more resources.
During their time there, Paul Torgal's son, Bart, noticed that they were ill and discovered the bacterium was "altering their genetics" (Degasi Voice Log #7 - Malady), similar to the bacterium seen in Natural Selection. Bart attempted to research the infection but lacked sufficient data.
Eventually, the crew went even deeper into the planet’s caves. Conflicts arose among the survivors, and their new habitat was destroyed by a Leviathan attack. Paul Torgal suffocated, Marguerit Maida survived by killing a Reaper Leviathan, and she used its corpse for survival. She rode the Reaper’s remains to the location later known as the Below Zero island, where she lived by eating and surviving within the Reaper's body.
This suggests that Maida likely came into contact with the Leviathan’s stomach enzymes, which are essentially Enzyme 42. This could explain how she was healed from the Kharaa infection.
it was 2 am when i wrote most of what i wrote yesterday its not an exact quote but its mentioned the last part of Maida is just a theory in combination with what i knew about reapers/ the peepers at the time (the pda said that the enzyme the peeper has inside its stomach is basically enzyme 42 it gathered from the emperor and that said enzyme has similarities with the stomach enzyme of "larger predetors" which i presumed to be leviathans like the reaper)
Hello i have another question: In the wiki, it says that Torgal Corp's shares reached an all-time high when they announced they would build phasegates to the ARIADNE ARM, and even Alterra was threatened by Torgal's operation to build phasegates to that region ("Alterra Corp. currently operates 9% of all phasegates in the galaxy. If the Aurora's mission is successful, Alterra will have outmanoeuvered a cabal of Mongolian corporations") (Alterra Launches the Aurora).
It's also said that Alterra's Aurora has to go through nine different trans-gov authorities, meaning the Ariadne Arm should be pretty far away from Alterra's trans-gov sectors. Yet, they still try to build phasegates in the Ariadne Arm only because Torgal built gates there. This must mean the ARIADNE ARM is pretty important in some way, but I didn’t read what’s so important about that region. Does someone know anything about that?
It's far away. The furthest away, it'll allow exploration of new areas. Ariadne Arm is the arm of a different galaxy.
Though again, this is a lore question, not #📚wiki-discussion appropriate.
@heady gulch hi, could you please ban the vandal from Al-An's page? MozzarellaMan
Thankssss
First of all thank you very much for the answer, second of all im very sorry about asking those lore related question here and is there even a lore channel as that would help me a lot?
just ask in the specific game chat
#subnautica-chat or #below-zero-chat work! (though BZ chat if it includes any information from BZ)
thanks
will there be a voicover coming for the below zero dialogues like in the SN wiki
I feel like Gloves should be mentioned in the equipment article
"Its recipe can be unlocked be scanning fragments"
I think there is a huge mistake made in the wiki. The wiki states that Subnautica takes place in the late 22nd century, even though the only source of this is cut content. There is nothing official that states Subnautica takes place in the late 22nd century. It was only officially stated in the scrapped Subnautica: Below Zero intro, and in the "hoverball rules" PDA, which both are not part of any game anymore. There are also some other instances where it was mentioned, but as I said, it was never officially stated, only in cut content. The only thing I have found that somehow connects Subnautica to the 22nd century and isn't cut content is the "Trans-Gov Profile: Alterra Corp," which says that Alterra was founded in the mid-22nd century. What I have found, however, is an answer from Obraxis to the same question, though this answer is already 9 years old.
We know the game takes place sometime after alterras founding and seemingly a not insignificant amount of time considering how big alterra has become, late 22nd century doesn't seem far fetched
Alterra was founded around the 2150s, and Subnautica takes place, according to the wiki, in the 2190s/2200s. So, you mean to tell me that the growth of Alterra into a corporation and Trans-Gov that could stop the Great Expansion with threats to stop selling technology, the Great Expansion itself, the end of the Great Expansion, the creation of the TSF, and the creation, growth, and expansion of the Mongolian Trans-Gov into the Ariadne Arm would all fit into 40-50 years? I mean, Subnautica is a sci-fi world, but that still seems a bit far-fetched. I would place it into the mid-23rd century, as that would even align with the existence of the 13th century sword in the Precursor base, while the PDA identifies the outbreak as 1000 years ago.
The precursors have been around longer than humans, pretty sure they didn't just go to a museum and steal that sword
As for the fast growth, its a game not everything is going to make sense, and most definitely not everything does make sense
Yeah, that's the point I'm making. The existence of the Earth Blade on 4546B makes it impossible for Subnautica to take place in the late 22nd century because:
The blade is described as "dating back to the 13th century," and since we obtain this information by scanning it, the dating must be relatively accurate.
The entry also states, "Blood samples on the blade match the DNA of seven separate heads of state from the period," further confirming the accuracy of the sword's dating.
However, the outbreak of Kharaa on 4546B (unlike the century in which Subnautica is set) is repeatedly stated to have occurred 1,000 years ago, placing it in the late 12th century if we assume SN1 takes place in the late 22nd century. This means the blade, which was dated to the 13th century (a fact even supported by the blood samples from leaders of that period), could only have been brought to the planet after the lockdown—an idea that makes even less sense.
This is why I would place Subnautica in the mid-23rd century instead which is just as much a subjective opinion as dating SN in the late 22nd century as both have no official/cannon evidence supporting it and for me personally the 23rd century makes more sense. It aligns better with the timeline of the blade and makes more sense progression-wise.
Last but not least—and this might sound a bit far-fetched—but it feels like Unknown Worlds deliberately cuts anything that could definitively place the game in the 22nd century.
true
The best thing I can say for this is the 1000 year figure is just an approximation and could be less or more, better question however would be why is a 13th century earth blade in the primary containment facility of a temporary research planet
idk. there is no information about it. It's probably like taking a cool rock with you while on a walk and someday you randomly find it again and bc you are to lazy to throw it away you just place it somewhere and act like its a decoration, your guess is as good as mine.
Hoverball rules weren't cut
there is nothing on the Subnautica wiki about it i really dont know where you have that information from
like please sent me a link or screen shot if possible
I read it somewhere in the game, and I'm sure it was not through commands
I'll look for it when I have the time
that would really help
It could be it was just on a wall
i found a place where the poster could be brb
found it:
still no rules or date tho
Is cuddlefish actually your friend?
found a mistake aswell
according to the wiki the Degasi crashed around a decade prior to the aurora
but according to the PDA the degasi crashed 10 years before the Aurora LAUNCHED
and the aurora lost contact 1.5 (18 months) after yhe launch
wich means the Degasi diddnt crash 10 but 11.5 years prior to the Aurora
that would also means Maida isnt 52 and 54 but 53.5 and 55.4 in the games
The Aurora didn't lose contact 18 months post-launch, but 13 months because that's when it was supposed to perform the slingshot maneuver around 4546B to get near the Degasi, the same maneuver which led to the aurora being shot down. "Mission Details:
- Aurora is due to perform a slingshot maneuver around 4546B (category 3 ocean planet) approximately 13 months post-launch
- This will bring the ship within range of the Degasi's last known position
- Additional aquatic and all-terrain vehicles have been included in the Aurora's cargo package for this mission
- Degasi crew manifesto has been distributed to senior employees in a separate message" (Aurora Auxiliary Mission Orders)
i know the BZ wiki says 18 months tho this was said in news article that mentions that the information stems from "inside sources" so Altera which probably is this inside source could've just lied
Can we guess ryleys age??
I was under the assumption there was no info about that
there isn't info about it id say mid 20's to early 30's purely by looks
Does anyone have a plausible explanation as to why the 4546B moon can be seen from the planet orbiting above the horizon at all time?
the only explanation to me is that 4546B is actually less heavy than its moon, and that 4546B is orbiting around its supposed moon
It has two moons i think
This is the wiki chat, try asking in #subnautica-chat
all of them
There are no applications. New moderators are chosen by the team and developers.
thx for informing
I'll aim to become a moderator
@sharp oak do you have any tips
if you want send in dms cause this is wiki channel
Stick around for some years, act accordingly and help us.
I'll try
There isn't much else to say. I didn't ask to be a moderator, I don't think any other mod did either.
but sooner or later when I graduate I'll aim for a Dev job at the studio
anyways thx very much
Good luck! And yes, you're right. This is wiki channel, not the best place for this when there's #off-topic.
yep
we need subnautica 2 to come out early😭
It won't be coming out in early 2025, further more this is the wiki channel, move to #subnautica-2-chat
oh ok iam new so i didn't know
Not a problem
Do leviathans regenerate health
No
Everything regenerates poison damage, dealt by gas pods and Drooping Stingers
Aw man
So now I may know where the adult ghost went
It might have died to an Ampeel when I got it low with Cyclops
Considering the Ampeels deal very little damage and the Ghost has 8000, and that leviathans respawn if killed by other creatures, there's no way that is what happened. Most likely, it clipped through the floor when you were going away.
Oh they respawn if killed by other creatures?
No. Leviathans should still respawn if killed by other creatures
I have found a respawn timer for them that is only supposed to go off when killed by non player
@sand zinc suspicious link (some steam activition)
They don't
Weird they have a timer for it then
Some creatures don't respawn regardless of what kills it. Those are all leviathans (except Sea Emperor babies and the juveniles), Cuddlefish and Alien Robots
Guess the timer just goes unused for it then
Yes, it's unused. The respawn is set to false and overrides their respawnOnlyIfKilledByCreature, which is set to true
Ah
||what type of civilization are the architects||
That's a great question for #below-zero-chat, but since we're here... They're a species hyper-focused on evolution, and techno & biological improvement. This led them to lose most of their individuality, as Al-An mentions they don't have personal goals, and instead operate like strings on a musical instrument. Working together for the same goal. They created vessels from dozens of other species and tech to make the most out of their lifespan. Seems they're too busy on researching and documenting every single bit of information to be hostile towards other civilizations (though they do have the technology to overpower any that gets in their way). I hope this helps.
gives hive mind vibes ngl
In the mushroom forest wiki page, it talks about some 2 rare pinecones. What are they, and where are they?
They're a forgotten Outcrop. They are purple, and give salt. It was likely going to be used in more places, but currently, there are only 2, next to each other and their position is not randomized. It's near the Eastern edge of the Northwestern Mushroom Forest.
They could've added it to the moonpool but they didn't, as adding more items (such as Shuttlebug and Reefback eggs) would make every resource slightly less common.
Why do peepers close their eyes when you get close?
And where do the lifepods jettison out of the aurora from?
Either The Bottom Or The Side
Yeah but like is there a door?
I would assume so
Maybe
Their eyes glow, for better vision. The eyelids are a camouflage attempt, at night.
It would make most sense for the lifepods to deployed from the sides, since the QEP shot caused damages that prevented the pods 26-50 from launching.
This is the wiki chat, not lore chat. You can always ask these questions in the appropriate channels (#subnautica-chat or #below-zero-chat).
Oops sorry
to protect them as they speed up? Keep them from getting debris in them? Normally fish don’t really have eyelids so I’m not sure
It's written in the PDA...
...why is the wiki hosted on Fandom?
Back in the day (10 years ago) Fandom was the new big thing
ah
In "subnautica"
I think they were saying there will never be an update for subnautica to have multiplayer
The games 'Subnautica' and 'Subnautica: Below Zero' will never have official multi-player support
now we can have real wiki chat
replacing every image of the peeper on the wiki with an image of Obraxis
We have yet to add
to the wiki
The first teaser we ever got, other than Artyom's About Me
is there even enough info on it
Nope
ohh so that's what it was
in wiki when?
A few weeks ago, I said the Subnautica wiki is wrong because it states the game takes place in the mid-23rd century, with the only supporting evidence being cut content. I have yet to be proven wrong, which, however, isn’t the point of this post.
The point is, after doing some digging myself, I found out when the game actually takes place. I must say the wiki is right about the mid-23rd century, though unlike the wiki, I can actually prove it.
https://www.reddit.com/r/subnautica/comments/1ife9a4/i_am_better_then_the_subnautica_wiki_and_found/ (the post where I wrote about it on Reddit).
I won’t post the full explanation here, though, since it’s quite lengthy.
sorry for the stupid title as well
That is a stupid title indeed
@remote leaf hi are you alive? Can you revert these recent Warper changes? #📁wiki-changes message
Hello Wiki Keepers. I have nothing to discuss just wanted to stop by and show appreciation for all the work you've done maintaining the wiki its has helped me a lot so keep up the good work and Thanks!
❤️

Since I did some of the rewrite on the timeline page, I’m obligated to post on this.
The wiki doesn’t say it’s the 23rd century.
And the alterra page cites it as beginning life as a defense manufacturer in the mid 22nd century
When I put into perspective the growth of the alterra company, I don’t think they did it in under 50 years
However,
it doesn’t say it’s in the 23rd century
The wiki doesn’t say the game takes place in the 23rd century. The number 23 doesn’t even appear on the timeline page period. The wiki doesn’t make any claims in its up to date articles that the game is the 23rd century. If you find any pages that claim this. Please send them to me, because those would need to be fixed
The timeline page says it takes place After the Mid 22nd Century since the alterra log in the pda cites that.
@heady gulch hi can we revert this change? #📁wiki-changes message The Prop Arm is able to do it, except in the latest update, which has been confirmed to be a bug
Oh okay. So they’re just reporting on bugs
Yeah gimme a minute
Wait it was able to pick up power transmitters at some point?
I think so
I remember Thermal Plants being the only reason to build the arm
It could also pick up Forklifts
Yeah but those aren’t player builds, it picking up base structure is news to me entirely
Thermal Plants had the problem of when picked up, they'd be affected by gravity, which means they'd fall off ledges, and if you went too far away they'd clip through the ground. You had to quit and reload the save for it to be stuck in place
Were they supposed to be picked up to begin with?
(I won’t lie this is super confusing because I never knew the propulsion arm could do anything like this)
Yes, they were
The behavior is present in most propulsion cannon affected entities
(The Seamoth and fish aren't)
A developer told me not being able to pick things up is a bug (only to then say bugs aren't their job)
Real
Pretty sure I saw this discussed in the wiki channel a month ago
Probably. One of the issues with our wiki is, we’re separate from NS2 Wiki. Although both are in the same universe, we really can’t go to the other to fill in the blank gaps of the “Alterra timeline”, because theres more to the alterra lore than is stated in subnautica itself.
Which sucks tbh, I’ve wanted to do an overhaul of the storyline page. But the lack of ingame info correlating to the history of alterra makes it impossible to do
This is something that is gonna happen when your connection between two game series is pretty much just some names
Yeeep,
I dont think we even know where both games are in the timelines, which one comes first.
Who knows maybe we will get more in subnautica 2
all we know is that its placed before Natural Selection in the timeline
oh yeah, found this from that games wiki
a Ticket for the Aurora
meaning we know its prefix
not to mention all the TSF stuff that game has (wich is a faction Marguerit Maida was apart of at some point)
having multiple games in the same universe is allways a kinda roadblock in wiki editing
Especially when the games get more disconnected as time goes on 💔
SN had a perfect setup to tie in with NS2 but noooo BZ brought it back to a clean slate. How will SN2 go, I wonder...
to think that they cut the plot point of actualt sending a sample up in the rocket
Honestly just make them different universes
90% of subnautica's playerbase has probably never heard of NS2 anyway, it was more of a neat nod to the previous game rather than a full fledged connection
Since SN1 EA that Obraxis keeps saying they're in the same Universe, and he said it again recently.
who told you it was just a "neat nod". They've always been in the same universe.
I believe our cut content page even has a scrapped line referring to the events of NS. So during early development the two would take place around the same time.
im not surprised. the 23rd century mentions are all cut.
Then I may have read an older version of the page or misread but even then I would’ve kinda found out when the game would take place that being between 2237 2257
Also the Timeline mentions the Architect period but not the two unconfirmed times they were theorized to be on earth (yin yang symbol in SN1 and the mention of the centaur like body of the architect having a resemblance to the centaur in human mythology) and the one time they had to be on earth that being from 1205 to at least 1279.
We can’t support theories on the wiki.
The game would not have taken place between 2237-2257
You’d need to re-crunch some of those numbers
Because mid-22nd century (if taken literally) means alterra didn’t exist until 2250, and it’s unreasonable to believe they went from a small defense contractor -> helping end the expansion conflict n sign the charter -> becoming TSF’s official supplier + transgov owning 9% of all phase gates in operation
Unless you think this could have all reasonably happened within the span of 7 years. So your calculations need tweaking either way
Reasons such as this is why we only stick to what the game tells us for the wiki timeline.
And atm the only concrete time reference we have is that the game takes place after the mid 22nd century. Because it’s impossible to take place before that time point
The game could take place 20 years after, or even 100+ years after for all we know.
I don’t believe the developers intend to set a concrete timeframe at this time, or they would have probably left in the cut dialogue mentioning the 23rd century.
This way they aren’t restricted in deciding when or where current n future installments take place, for anything related to the connected universe
The only gripe I think I’d have is the lack of information or fleshed out details on alterra,
mid-22nd century (if taken literally) means alterra didn’t exist until 2250
- 2250 would be the 23rd century.
Unless I missed a conversation about Subnautica having weird dating conventions.
we do know they have a sword with blood from earth
I’m silly.
My apologies. I forgot that centuries are always done weirdly like that
But iirc there is a mention of 23something in cut below zero content. So I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s odd dating conventions going on
I retract previous statements above
A 13th century sword isn't the most useful dating tool when current date is 21st century
Especially since we already know 4546B has been used for 1000 years
well its atleast the 13th century then at a minimum
and BZ is 10 years after that then
Below Zero is 2 years after Subnautica. You may be thinking of the Degasi crashing 10 years before Subnautica.
oh it was 2
it wasnt 10.. wait i had calculated that before
the crash was 10 years prior to the Aurora Launch not its crash
18 months after launch
the Degasi crashed 11.5 years before the events of Subnautica and 10 years before the ship was launched
databank states it was a decade before yes
but that was in the "Aurora Auxiliary Mission Orders" wich the captain would have reveived prior to the launch
special as we know communications can take months thru space
lost contact after 18 months (know that from BZ)
Mid 22 century means 2150 (if there isn’t a language barrier I don’t understand, since English isn’t my main language) and mid 23 century means 2250 its a timespan of 100 years and that seems rather realistic but as I said „it’s probably during the times I’ve mentioned“ since we don’t know how long the blade stayed on 4546b till Kharaa broke out on the planet. What we can 100% confirm is that the game plays at least after the 23 century, since the sword is from the 13th century (source earthblade PDA entry) and there by the game that takes place 1000 years after the architects must at least take place after the 23 century. Both the 1000 years and the 13th century is confirmed by the PDA.
Nvm didn’t read the rest sorry

I keep the wiki
@sharp oak could I mayhaps be dawned with the role of keeping the wiki
Or like
Do I need to complete a deadly trial
Yes, a deadly trial, very few live to tell the tale
😱
But it's not up to me, @heady gulch hello can you like make him orange
PFFFT
Uh
My resume: I am the creator of the SN2 wiki page and update it regularly whenever news comes out, as well as maintain other pages,
I also like spaghetti
Sleeping I presume, 😔
Did you make the sn2 wiki page with your blood sweat and tears back when no one's was brave enough to?
(Im playing it up for the bit dw I'm not normally this full of myself)
No but I'm the best bot so
I miss Bob so much. Poor lad failed it. :(

And what exactly are it's requirements 😭
Being so cool that ice cream doesn't melt in your hand
Preferably not dead however
Okay like
I will say kinda uncool that It requires you to use a bot with some vague verification system
WTF is the requirement 😭
You're on this council but we don't grant you the rank of master
This doesn't sound like jedi rules
@cinder kestrel what’s the requirements again
Any role on the wiki, I think?
Careful, he might turn to the dark side.
What does that mean...?
How does one get a role 😔
i'm glad to see even since 2017 it's still the same wiki people
Help out and be active in here for more than one day. We don't give it out to anyone who registers with the bot so they can get a different colored role.
Earn it, and you'll get it.
The bot does give you the role regardless of your activity or inactivity in this server as long as you have a role on the wiki (discussion moderator, admin, etc.). Earning a role is the hard part.
Also ouch kinda rude of you to assume that I want it just for the colour. :(
I want it for what it represents, my commitment to maintaining the wiki
Right, so basically Ive got zero luck, cool!

anyone can edit a wiki, so the wiki keeper role is only for mods and admins etc?
Im not really sure how it works, but not all wiki keepers are mods
It's for wiki mods
Effectively.
To contextualize tuna’s statement a little more. At least my interpretation.
It’s a mix of activity here on the official discord, and on the wiki.
This way it’s not given to inactive mods on the wiki. Nor individuals who avoid participating in discussions here.
TLDR: if you’re promoted to any authority position on the wiki, and are active on the channel here in the discord. Then you’re likely to get the role
Although the bot that can auto assign it doesn’t really care about activity lmao
I see
can u get coffee vending macheins still
maybe
i foun
splendid
heh
@heady gulch for that bot do you use the wiki or the discord name
If you're asking about @willow vector and how to verify yourself: you use neither. You use your wiki username. On the wiki, however, you'd have to specify your Discord username (similar to how you've added your Reddit account to your Discord profile).
!wiki verify -Riko-Eden of despair

I try to avoid touching the map in general. because of that, I'm not the best to make judgement on which is the "better map image" to use. Since I'm not reliant on it, I don't know what users find as the more "efficient" versoin.
subnauticamap.io is used for spoiler-free location screenshots, while mapgenie.io/subnautica is used for more accurate information
Which is the better look? Depends on the need
alr, ty
see, i meant the map that is built into the wiki, link:https://subnautica.fandom.com/wiki/Map:The_Crater
My point still stands, the textureless look is intentional
Each type of map has its own purpose, I think you'd have to add a toggle if you want the other one too
alr. could i do that, add a toggle?
I have no idea
why did all the corridor pages get nuked from orbit
Hoverfish = Goodest Boy and i dont wanna hear it
I agree
Cultured individual spotted

I dont have nitro :(
at least i can look at him tho :)
They should add a leviatan in the nest game that roams the whole map therefore no area is safe. It would alot of fun in the sence that you never know when itll come after you. No more completely safe zones.

the large room and large room glass dome (the pages for subnautica, that is) don't have recipes. how would these get added?
Go to source view, copy from a different page, paste in the desired one, and change accordingly.
all i see is {{Recipe2}}. or do you mean the crafting at the top of the page?
I don't know which part you want to add
the recipe in the page. i.e., the Cyclops page has a section titled "construction recipe." that's missing from the large room and large room glass dome. and if i go into the source of the cyclops page, all it says is {{Recipe2}}
and i don't know how to add that to pages
Hm, strange
I'm not very knowledgeable of the formatting
@heady gulch probably is though
Formatting isnt my forte
I learned everything by looking at the template implementation on another page, and then copying + modifying it over to a new page.
If a template works on one page, its gonna work on another if you tweak it to go along with the page contents
yay i figured it out
@stark jolt If the engine is off, it's invisible. Standing still or using Rig for Silent Running don't do the same. Not sure how you edited the page but just letting you know.
From what I understand {{Recipe2}} is a template that takes the name of the page in and spits out the correct recipe, using the {{Recipe}} template to generate the recipes. If you want to change the recipe in {{Recipe2}} you have to go to Template:Recipe2 and edit it in source mode. Then find the recipe for that item and change it there.
Been trying to figure out who or what did the voice recording for the warper, figured I'd ask here incase anyone happens to know?
Tried googling it but no luck. Thx in advance if anyone knows. o/
(also pls @ me if u know cause I have sound and all other notifications turned off.)
ty
so on the cyclops page, there's a table of all the different modules. should the recipes for the modules be added, or should those be left on their respective pages?
This is the wiki chat, we discuss wiki maintenance and stuff here. You'll have better luck asking in #subnautica-chat.
But I think it's safe to assume who edited it was the sound designer.
Might actually be good to know who did it so we can list it on the Warper page
how come on the wiki, in some places, damage is listed as a percent, not a fixed number? i.e. the alien robot page. the damage caused by creatures is usually a fixed number, and listing it as a percent could be a bit confusing.
Yeah. We should change it to a fixed number for consistency sake
50 damage is different than 50% damage
yay, an idea got approval. can i work on that?
Yeah. Go for it. Consistency is important
should % be changed to HP, or just have the number?
Ah okay sry misunderstood the channel description. Ty
is there a way to search in articles for keywords or symbols (namely, %)?
No idea
they have said creatures will have more realistic behavior patterns and won't just swim in circles in their respective biomes
ugly disgusting imagine jumping out of life and see that mostrosity
would i have to be a mod or admin in the wiki to have the wiki keepers role?
Yes
And you get it for being efficient, trustworthy, and very active, both here and there.
The trustworthy part being the most important
makes sense
how would one go about becoming a mod or admin? being around a lot and doing the above?
I think that's how I got promoted to moderator and partially how I got promoted to admin.
does anyone know if this thing has a wiki page because its unscannable and has no seeds thats all the info i have about it
its on the seafloor at 266 -70 -70
If it can't be scanned it doesn't get a page
can the rare purple or pink pinecone things in the mushroom forest be scanned
No but it’s in the wiki, they drop salt I believe
Lets talk about how ur in the ground
in the flora page there's a section for minor flora, flora that doesn't have a name or databank entry. maybe it should go there
@stark jolt minor flora is only if they have a name but no databank
could i create a "Growth" page? a page that shows all growable plants, their uses, and their growth rates? if not, could growth times be added to the "Flora" page?
Maybe it should go in the Flora page
can i add growth rates to the flora page?
Sure
weird. i tried adding to the flora chart, but it seems the chart can only display 3 items (or im just doing it wrong, which is entirely possible). what am i doing wrong?
@stark jolt in the latest swimming speed edit, they shortened the error range. Please fix
wdym shortened the error range?
Looks like they changed "0.01-0.02" to "+/- 0.01" (in other words, "-0.02 or -0.01 to +0.01 or +0.02" to "-0.01 to +0.01").
alr. i'll fix that in a bit
i think i did it
Thought I'd ask, but does this early logo for Subnautica technically count as concept art?
Sourced this from the Trello Archives
Unfortunately we dont have a good high quality image of the logo, which sucks cuz its cool to see an earlier version of the logo, but oh well.
Either way, felt as though it should be put somewhere on the wiki since it is pretty interesting, at least to me
Also, thought I'd post this here. Obviously a while back the Subnautica Done Trello board got completely obliterated. I created an archive of the trello a little bit beforehand, though I dont think I ever shared it. Sooooo...
Organize anything, together. Trello is a collaboration tool that organizes your projects into boards. In one glance, know what's being worked on, who's working on what, and where something is in a process.
Complete archive of said board. Obviously some stuff is missing, most notably the comments and activity on most posts are completely gone due to how Trello copies boards, but its at least something.
It also features the archived/hidden boards, which contained a lot of material which was previously not known about or was made "unavailable", this is where some of the recent concept art I added to the wiki came from.
Feel free to use it for sourcing if you wish.
for some reason adding growth times to the table isn't working. i dont think im doing something wrong (although it is entirely possible and i probably am), so can i add the growth times to the plants individual pages?
That can work too
i think i have a way to add growth times to the table without horribly wrecking everything. if it doesn't work then i'll probably work on this
i've figured out how to add to the table, but it involves making a new table template, as all the tables on that page use the same template and to add something new to one of them i would have to add it to all the tables or make a new template and use that for the tables i want to edit (hope that makes sense). can i make a new template?
i did NOT know subnautica had lore
I did not know subnautica
is there any way to add Italian
yes there is, but you'd need a mod/admin's permission and a mod or admin to do it for you, as the language switch is contained within the source for the home page, which is protected from edits by us lowly wikiers
ooh, i see
thank you!

How do you pronounce chelicerate
I don't know how😭
!wiki Chelicerate
The Chelicerate (pronounced /ˈkelɪsəreɪt/ "keh-li-ser-ate") is an aggressive leviathan class fauna species of Subnautica: Below Zero. It resides mostly in the Tree Spires, but it can also be found in the Purple Vents and the East Arctic.
There are a total of four Chelicerates within Sector Zero on Planet 4546B and three Void Chelicerates within the edges of the sector.

Me too, because I named one Shelly
i've been saying it completely wrong as "che-sil-er-8"
In french ch is mostly pronounced k so i was saying right lol
as the Amoeboid is technically a fauna, should it have its health listed? (as in, invulnerable)
No healthbar, no need for health listed
ancient floaters have a health box...or should that be removed?
wdym an hp bar?
Health points bar
yea, i got that, but where would you find that?

You could also be like most people and look up 4546B on Google.

Be active in the server and the wiki. Be a trustworthy person.
okay
when you say "trustworthy," what exactly do you mean by that?
It means we know you’re not gonna take an axe to the wiki if you’re made an admin or moderator. Lmao
The spy has breached our defenses
on the page for large resource deposits (SN) the ion cube deposit is in a unique deposits section. should this be done for BZ?
I like the idea of pressure for the player, not only for the vehicles. For example, a reinforced suit to anul pressure in the deep
Please discuss game mechanics in the appropriate channels, this one is specifically for the wiki.
cant wait to see what kinda alterra products i can add to the wiki page when Subnautica 2 is here
i hope the wiki is wiking today

The wiki keepers watching as I unwiki the wiki
What happend in the wiki changes?
Most of the moves were just comments automatically moving when I moved the article they were on.
Ah, neat
I moved two articles and recreated a disambiguation page to fix what @stark jolt did. You see, every article has a history to it (which you can access from the upper-right corner of the article) which documents every contribution ever made to the article. We legally (and ethically, I suppose) cannot remove that history while also keeping the article. So, the correct way to change the names of articles is not to recreate the article at the new name, but to use the built-in Move feature.
That being said, if I recall correctly, we made it so that only admins can move articles on the Subnautica Wiki. So, I guess you just have to ask us next time instead of moving it yourself.
oops. sry
what exactly is the difference on the wiki between an admin and a mod?
I think the admins have complete control over it and mods well, Moderate
For a more technical answer, check out [[Special:ListGroupRights]].
can i remove the trivia from the page for marg's prawn? it's completely unnecessary as the "speculation" in the sentance is perfectly clarified in the databank entry for her prawn
also what are "request to be forgotten admins?"
For a list of just the names of rights, see the top of [[Special:ListUsers]].
There are many roles that Fandom uses for their own purposes. I cannot explain all of them.
This is random but I'm looking at the wiki for Purple Tablets and it's saying that 5 purple tablets are required to beat the game but that technically isn't true. You only need 3 if you swim through the underwater entrance on the QEP.
I used to speedrun the game regularly and only ever grabbed 3, 2 for the ATP and then the QEP control room.
Power is drawn from the oldest generator first, regardless of the type of generator. Each generator will work to fill its own internal storage capacity and will not fill the capacity of other generators.
Can this be changed? https://subnautica.fandom.com/wiki/Energy
It is only valid until reload. Then the order batteries are drained, is arbitrary.
Before reload the nuclear reactor is drained. After reload the bioreactor is.
@stark jolt it's your call
so the bioreactor drains first after reload regardless of other power sources? or does this just work with nuclear generators and bioreactors? in that case, which power sources take precedence over others? like, what's the order of power drain?
cuz in BZ i had a nuclear reactor and some thermal plants, and the reactor was being drained before the thermal plants
but earlier in that base, my solar panels drained before my bioreactor
which probably means the order is solar panels, bioreactor, nuclear, and thermal.
i will edit it, but i just want to make sure of what all i'm adding
and i'll do this
You should watch the video again.
The first built drains first. But when you reload, it's seemingly randomized.
Sometimes it's one, other times it's the other.
i did.
it seems the bioreactor drains before the nuclear
but will it always be randomized every time you load? cuz with my solar panels and bioreactor, and my thermal plants and nuclear reactor, power was always drained in the same order no matter how many times i reloaded the game
what i should and am going to do is build a Multipurpose Room with four water filtration, plus a nuclear and bioreactor, a solar panel, and a thermal plant, and load and reload a couple times to see what draws first and see if it's always the same
it does appear to be random. i did some tests, and i could find no discernable pattern
Yes it's completely random.
Even between power sources. You could have solar, bioreactor, another solar, etc.
wait...i don't believe it's completely random...i think power is drawn from sources in the order they are loaded in...that would explain why sometimes (in my tests) my solar panels would be used before my nuclear reactor. and why my nuclear reactor is always used before my thermal plants
It isn't in the order they are serialized, that makes it random. Also power transmitters place things at the bottom as it takes more time to connect.
the guidelines for posting pictures on the wiki say that photoshopped pictures are rarely useful and should be avoided, as well as pictures should be taken without the hud (unless the hud is the focus of the pic) and at as high of a quality as possible. since i'm on console, i can't just press F6 and remove the hud, so i would have to crop the hud out. however, being on console allows me to take lots of quite high quality photos. so i was wondering. am i allowed to put a cropped picture or video on an article as long as it meets the standards for quality, ratio, and size?
Doesn't R3 take a picture without the hud by default?
Yes, but they're in terrible quality
They're also darker than normal, dark pictures get heavily pixelated
R3?
o you mean the pda pics
since im on console i unfortunately can't access pictures taken with my pda
It means cool
soo...what about this?
You can, but it's a lot of work
I think your should just ask someone get the pictures for you
Usually "win", but is interpreted as awesome and stuff
I really wish the wiki would say if sub 2 is going to be cross platform
@ember oyster The devs have not yet announced if there will, or will not be, crossplay. You can keep an eye on #announcements / #subnautica-2-chat / #subnautica-2-info for any announcements but this doesn't have much to do with the wiki 😉
they were implemented into the game? They were just only removed
I feel like the 2nd text is just wrong
I think it means they never spawned naturally
wdym by that?
they dont spawn in the world, you have to use the console
and they have always been like that
yet I have seen a youtuber somehow get it?
and i doubt they even know abt the console
you sure it wasnt a spadefish egg?
nope
then they used console lol
Let me search for the video
(If i can find it, since its very old)
nvm they did use it
Ig im the one whos wrong then
I have found a video long ago of someone allegedly finding it naturally.
me being naive I asked other wiki users in a blog post to see if they could find one naturally spawning too.
keep in mind this was early early access, long before the reefback had flora growing on it, and was half the size.
did they find anything yet?
2017 was early early access?
its a rough guesstimate on time, im not digging through the past to find my blogpost on it. nor do i reccomend anyone do it.
hm
point is. at some point- yes.. I presume they appeared naturally in early access builds (experimental).
however, I've only found one video to back that idea up. and that was the better part of 10 years ago.
October 27, 2016 (I think), or earlier if you count beta versions. https://subnautica.fandom.com/wiki/Update_History_(Subnautica)
right, more than likely was before February 25th, 2016. As that was the update which added eggs in properly. I think its reasonable to assume in the experimental builds leading up to it.. reefback eggs would spawn in.
i see
idk if this is before or after i had a delusion over a "hatchable sea dragon egg".
probably after.
For what exactly is this channel for i was wondering
is for discussing random stuff on the wiki
We can chat about the wiki - ask each other to edit/undo edits, come up with solutions for page reworks and such
Ohh cool, i will lurk in here time to time then
When the game begins EA, this will be one of the most active chats
that game being sn2 right?
This channel gives me library vibes
it kinda is
how many edits has this wiki gone through?
I have no idea
It's probably on the front page: [[Subnautica Wiki]]
I would want to avoid this place due to spoilers correct
At least until I finish the game
That would be a good rule for this entire discord, not just this channel.

I remember being able to spawn a Boulder in with cheats but I couldn't remember it's name ever again
I just wondered if anyone could find anything on the wiki about this strange boulder
I couldn't find it but I remember being able to spawn it in
The boulder with floaters?
Do you remember how this “boulder” looked like?
I looked at the Spawn ID list, you cant spawn a “boulder”
Is it actually possible to spawn this in?
It should be in ID spawn list
which it isn’t
I dont know it looks like a boulder i found in the safe shallows i could be wrong ill find a screen shot of it nevermind i couldn't find it.
If so, i wonder if you can spawn more terrain related stuff with commands
Is there just a general talking chat here
No
And if there is, could someone send me a list to it or smth
Oh
If u mean general as in just a generic chat, #off-topic was general originally
Tyyyy
where can i download warper sounds?
even if you can't download them, they should at least be on the warper page to listen to. if not, welp...
<@&85343211593166848> he has put this in many channels in this server. As well as sent me a friend request/DM about it. Self promotion? Spam?
What was it?
Spam.
Something about him making beats. Asking people to reach out to him for beats. Then DMed me about NBA lineups, saying that he can help me. He also said that he doesn’t sell pics(right after mentioning beats, didn’t give context).
Let's move on, please.
@normal quiver
Yo I'm tryna add the new road to early access vid to the sn2 wiki page but it isn't letting me add videos.
Help would be appreciated 🙏

try going into the source editor and adding the youtube link
sup wiki keepers, have yall considered getting the sn2 wiki at least reserved?
is that counts? https://subnautica.fandom.com/wiki/Subnautica_2

this chat is for the Subnautica Wiki, not for suggesting game content
where is suggestions
just talk about it in #subnautica-2-chat
Ok thanks
Got it, mb
should current Large Room, Large Room Dome, Multipurpose Dome, etc. be renamed to have "Below Zero", to make way for new pages about the items in original SN?
@summer kindle saw you in #subnautica-2-chat but i wanted to see what you thought about this
yes that’s going to be done eventually
sorry I’m kinda busy rn with exam season at uni and stuff
that's real
i just got done with all that on Thursday of last week
Redirecting all the Large Room links to appropriate pages
Finished redirecting all Large Room pages to appropriate destinations.
Moved Large Room Partition and Large Room Partition Door to both be Below Zero pages
looking at those redirects will need to be handled at a later time
Can we try to find the sources for all "TBA" entries on the Below Zero databank page?
I started a new BZ playthrough and am trying to see what may trigger some of these entries
Minerals Galore - getting inside Drop Pod after gathering copper, ribbon plant
can someone help me get the correct image for the Glass Dome pieces and the Large Room Partition pieces in OG Subnautica
ahh, i could downgrade the game for it, should i?
uhh yeah do that
sure
wait
all that stuff is in current build i think
sorry idk how any of the image acquiring process works here
Image requires a transparent background
without the background
Is wasabi one in wiki
I worked on this for a long time but i finally finished reading through both of the subnautica Databases (every PDA entry and voice lines) and finally finished creating my (hopefully) 100% accurate Timeline (alongside some theories) https://subnautica.fandom.com/f/p/4400000000000126011
theres 1 thing id have to add
@chrome locust
the degasi crashed 11.5 years before the game
the 10 years was the diffrence between them crashing and the Aurora Launching
the 1.5 years or 18 months is the time it took the Aurora to reach 4546b
because an article in BZ tells us that Alterra lost contact about 18 months acter launch (+ - the time for the radio signal)
specificly
well roughly 1.5 years
the slingshot is planned 13 months after launch
18 months after was when it was known the contact was lost
so 5 months prob to account for the signal distance
in short (reclaculated)
10 years prior: Degasi declared lost
Year O: Aurora Launches
1,08333 years (13 months) after Year 0: Game Starts, Aurora shot down during slingshot
- T-6mins: Captain sends distress Call
- T+2mins: Lifepod 2 Voicelog
- T+8hrs: one survivor detected
- T+8hrs: Rocket Plans received from Alterra HQ
- T+8hrs: Long-range com relay offline
- T+13hrs: Aurora's Monitoring equipment failed
1.5 years (18 months) after Year 0: Aurora Declared without contact publicly (missing more than one routine check in)
by the time they declared it they knew the ship was prob lost for good id say
but it was likly before the player returned in the rocket
thats also means that Ryley took about 5 months to get home in the rocket
at least
prob more considering alterra doesnt tell that theres a survivor
we know the aurora launched 18 months before they were confirmed losts
and given the 2 years between the 2 games
given that it tskes 13 months to reach the planet
ryley was on the way home while alterra confirmed the loss and aurora immiediatly launched the crew from BZ
tho with phase gates he was prob back earlier but atleast 5 months after the crashs till considering teh alterra news
Ryley only went to the closest phasegate, which was probably where Aurora launched. The ion technology is said to have unpredictable effects, so it's very likely his rocket was much faster than supposed.
well we know he wasnt back 5 months after at a minimum because of news articles
and at most 12 to 13 because the BZ crew would take about a year to reach the planet just like the Aurora
because alterra diddnt have any ion technology
or more like, the stuff in the rocket wouldnt rly be enough to fit the ships theyd send
and we know they still dont fully understand the tech with them not beeign able to open the gates in the arctic region
The phasegate in Sector Zero is alien and isn't connected to the human-made ones
not what i mean
im talking about the door they are researching at Outpost Zero
the wiki says 29-44 people survived the crash hmm
but thats not quite correct
i think? one sec
its actually 29-43
29 minimum
and up to 2 in each of the lifepods we have no status for
actually 28 maybe even
