Role selection is completely random. The human mind is conditioned to latch onto patterns, what could appear to be a pattern is more than likely your psyche piecing together coincidences and then placing them into a consistent timeline. You may be interpreting it in this way. There are many different roles, but can be classified into categories of goose, neutral, and duck. Say you've noticed that a player has been getting a duck role a couple of games in a row, you've now concluded a pattern in which that player seems to be always getting a duck role, but you may have forgotten that they had a goose role in between, because it does not relate to the pattern you have noticed.

As games can go by pretty quickly, we also have a sense of losing the concept of time. We may also conclude that it has been a coincidence more adamantly, over a period of time, when in reality, it was something that you had noticed being a common factor. Role randomization is in fact, working correctly. Best of luck in your rounds and have fun playing GGD!

2-3 months for a new role ain't so bad. Right now, the devs' priority is fixing things behind the scenes to make sure everyone has a stable experience. There already are a bunch of roles as is. Check out the Corruption game mode if you want to get used to new things. Lots of people have requested modified variations of pre-existing roles, and Corruption serves that purpose. Sadly, Corruption is underutilized, so finding Corruption lobbies might not be easy.

But my silver coins seem to have been seriously devalued-now they have to be turned into 'dust' and it takes a ton of the silver coins to turn into dust. Does gravy give like gold coins now or something? As an aside, I hate how almost all the rewards have a random factor now. Can't just buy what you want.

it's a bad rule. In any given game, half the people are grouping. You don't want to kill the canadian. There's only at max 10 geese to kill, and you just say you can't kill 10% or more. If gravy cares so much about staying alive, they can group (which frankly they usually do anyway).

Everyone has their opinions on how things should go, but ultimately it's the host's lobby and the host's rules. Whether it's letting the gravy safely farm rewards, forbidding a stuffed pelican from calling a meeting, or letting people speak one at a time in meetings.

My lobby's rules for example is don't spam start in the pregame lobby, don't abandon your objective in favor of playing as an extra goose as a neutral, and don't make "gamethrowing" plays, even if it is a bluff, a joke, or a dodo play.

And if I want to play in someone else's lobby, then I need to be willing to accept their rules over my own.

Some rules go too far. "Don't kill gravy" is one. I mean, the ducks have to kill everyone but one to win. Ducks kill. Telling people they can't do their essential role-that is fully within the spirit of the game- is an abuse of power.

It is a matter of opinion, there is no one singular way to enjoy a game. If you really hate the rules that a host sets up, then the best thing to do is find a different one.

For example, even though I am old enough to join 21+ lobbies, I refuse to give out my birth date and year. So when I enter a lobby and they want that info, I will leave.

It may be fair to you, but I see it as an understandable rule given the circumstances of what one person sees for the role vs how another person sees it. One host may have seen a string of Gravy players being killed in the first round over and over again, another may see the role as useless because they have another rule in place to not group up, so they utilize the "no kill Gravy" rule to make sure that they are no longer a prime target.

Overall, this rule can be seen as either a safe bet to have or semi ridiculous. Regardless, please don't fight the hosts on this rule if they have it in place. Thank you.

Regarding the rule "Don't kill the Gravy," I don’t quite understand how it can be followed without ruining the game for the ducks. It’s easy enough if I see Gravy alone in the hallway—I can just pass by, and that basic scenario makes sense. But what if I know that Gravy has seen me or my partner near a body? What if Gravy is running to ring the bell to expose me? What if Gravy actively starts speaking out against me during the voting? What if Gravy is sticking close to someone else, making it impossible to eliminate not only Gravy but another goose as well? Overall, this rule introduces a lot of unclear situations and disrupts the game balance. If Gravy wants to farm coins and be invincible, then they should stay silent the entire game, not report bodies, and not reveal the ducks.

Well the biggest advice I have is to try out the tutorials, then once you've done that my next big advice is to dive right into a game. Let people know you are new ahead of time and they'll generally be a lot easier on you, and maybe even give you some tips.

Yea if you have played AU, then you already know some basic mechanics. The biggest main differences between the 2 being roles and ducks having to unlock sabotages with special tasks.

And proxy chat too, assuming you are in a lobby that has it on.

Well I guess AU has roles now, too. Though they work a lot differently than the ones in ggd, and ggd has a lot more of them, too.
