One of the (many) reasons I want to play Palia is to get in on ground zero and not have to worry about catching up if they release more future content.

Yeah but that’s what I mean, there’s so much content that they’ve removed all the content and left only the latest update as relevant. Hence making me feel that leveling is just a long tutorial because I’m not actually experience the game. No story, no relevance no context

They did level squishes, but not story/lore/content squishes

But yeah, my vision on what Palia can do to make it very playable for people with different interests and time constraints

1. A very long good detailed world story ... about the history of Palia ... maybe will last years or the full length of the game .. maybe the ending of which will introduce the next world they will have for us
2. A considerably long equaly good mystery story .. about the human part of Palia .. Both why they left and why they returned.
3. A very good npc friend system .. with at least 1 task to do each game day for them to help boost your level of friendship with them.
4. A good npc romance system ( for those interested there ) .. with 1 task related to that part of the system each day to boost that part of the relationship.
5. A reasonable skill questing system that offers a task or two to progress your skill to minimise the actual grinding as this could increase friendship too.

But thats just me .. I like to have a reason to do something .. otherwise I don't bother.

No dice. I like online games that allow local instances of the game so you can do single player; but idk if the Palia team has any plans for it or how hard it is to offer that sort of an option with an mmo.

Is this game going to be optimized for Apple Silicon at all? I'm on an M1 Mac and am really interested in playing, but I'm not sure how it well it will go trying to run in through Rosetta 2 on Steam.

I mean maybe if the game isn't too graphically demanding then Rosetta 2 will be just fine and dandy. Was curious more than anything.

We have no idea how they will handle other hardware requirements. It will be for Windows PC primarily. Where possible they'll expand to other options eventually.

They are using Unreal Engine 4 as a guideline. If that has the right support for that hardware its possible I guess.

So, it sounds like either Palia is a game based in a world whose name hasn't been revealed to us, or the name of the world itself. In my opinion anyway 🙂

At the moment we know we get our own little plot of land to build our home and do some gardening and cooking and maybe some of our other skills. We don't know anything about neighbourhoods outside of being like guilds. One of the things that has been requested alot is the ability to make a neighbourhood village type thing. But no response regarding that.

Do not underestimate the ability of players to think outside the dev's designs. While I am not one of these people, I'm always surprised at how people manipulate a game to do things the devs didn't intend. 😉

it just doesn't make sense, the Majiri will be in shock with the new coming of Humanity, playing as a Majiri would be so weird bc ever NPC has to act SO MUCH different with you than with the rest of Human players

I think other races could be fine down the road as the game evolves. Usually when games add more it's because the story has moved along sufficiently to a place where playing as them wouldn't be out of the ordinary.

By that point, most players have already experienced whatever was available at launch so by the time something new comes around it's not jarring at all. To preserve the new player experience, the game could require making a basic race first on an account as a pre-requisite.

Sure, but isn't that the game itself? I mean, in order for a player's home to persist in its custom state, wouldn't its plab have to exist on the server and not the player's PC?

Depends if it's peer to peer or dedicated, but your pc still has to receive all the packets with updates on where objects are even if it's server side your pc has to refresh and that takes memory etc etc

And depending on viewing distance and rendering if someone moves something or harvests something etc etc your pc has to refresh that. Which is why some things can just disappear in games when you come closer because you refresh in a closer range around yourself opposed to world wide
