I'm practically a lore machine. I come up with a lot of headcanons and what ifs for the Palia characters, but I also do a lot of DMing for roleplay groups which means I'm constantly coming up with characters, factions, species, companies, rituals, and other stuff.

So if any of my nonsense makes a member of the Palia writing team go 👀 📝 , then I've done my part.

@remote latch No, just trying to express my feelings and say goodbye for now. I’ll check back on Palia but am not going to get hyped up anymore. Time for a break from the Discord. I fear the free to play model will take advantage of a minority of players while allowing a more toxic community. and haven’t see these concerns addressed well so far. Maybe they plan on paying moderators and implementing a fair warning and ban system. I do want the game to be successful but can’t help feeling like it’s doomed with the monetization model. With over 20 years gaming online, I have yet to see where an MMO or social game does well long term like this. Doesn’t make sense for me to keep going on about it, so I’ll wait to play the game and see how it does. :). I usually don’t spend money on free to play games because cosmetics don’t interest me enough and it’s easy to get sucked in like gambling. I’ll happily drop $30-60 on a new game and have paid subscriptions to MMOs in the past. The minority of players who get addicted will spend even more than that and game companies know this. It’s not ethically responsible.

It's understandable. You don't have to keep watching the server. Just have #📢│palia-news on notification if you want to watch for invite waves. Otherwise, wait for that invite or the eventual release .. and no harm trying it without spending money 🙂 As someone who isn't interested in cosmetics themselves I am personally hopping between feeling guilty for playing a game and not paying for anything .. or paying for something I'll never use 🤷‍♀️ . But there's time for that type of decision.

For me it's easy. If I need to buy something in Free game I will not do it. If I want to buy something to say thank you to creators I will buy something. Cosmetic of course. Other stuff is big no for me.

Yeah, the best option I have in my mind .. is some sort of regular payment for the times I play .. and not when I don't. I always hated that with the subscription system .. pay for the month and end up stopping after a few days .. so hopefully Palia will be a nice middle ground. I would say rather than have it fully customizable better smth like either you pick from a list of icons, maybe based on your lvl/rank or smth
or you can create your own banner like icon like you can in many games with presets decals and stuff

it would help

1. keeping it friendly

and I hate, HATE walking into a city and since guilds can control cities seeing the banners have a low resolution icon of a person doing a funny face
