You're correct it wasn't 100% random. A lot of us from the first PreAlpha test were very active here on Discord, but there were also plenty of lurkers as well - I'm sure they want a good variety. I'd say to just keep your head up though, stay positive, and keep on the lookout - there's plenty more tests to come. 🙂

That's good advice. Edge-of-seat waiting can be fun for people who have the time and inclination, but for others it can just be stressful or disappointing. Muting most of the server and checking in periodically for big pings is a fine strategy.

If there is one thing I've gleaned in my travels, it's that all hair is an achievable goal if you have the right materials to work with!

Sometimes those materials are wigs, of course.

I wonder if they could add hairstyles more easily if they add wigs like Animal Crossing, where it's just a hat.

I often wonder why MMO games don't use that idea more.

I don't really know if it's easier to create that as a character creation option, or just an item. Just having a bit of banter with my inner monologue.

A lot of Europeans got in but they may still be a lower ratio while they monitor gameplay experience for those further away from where the servers are physically.

Some Australians and east asia got in too if I remember rightly. I think as the number of overall testers rise the number of non Americans will rise as well. Which could explain why more Europeans got in the alpha compared to pre alpha

We only have rough numbers for the first wave of alpha invites Roughly 1k - 2k per day for 3 days and no numbers for the second wave but were over 3 days too so could be a similar number of total testers.

So alpha was at least 3 x more testers than pre alpha but could be a lot more than that

They did have a position for Switch amongst their job opportunities which I can't see now so hopefully that means they have found someone to fill that spot and are looking into that device. They also have Technical Artist - Mobile currently on their listings but whether that is specifically for mobile or mobile level graphics I don't know. No reason gameplay wise that it would need to be wary of crossplay, not being a pvp oriented game. So all about how well Sony, Xbox, and Nintendo are playing together.

There are multiple types of lettuce and cabbage .. if you grow them to create a full head of lettuce depending on the type of lettuce they could look like cabbages ... but they won't taste the same rofl. I like white cabbage and iceberg lettuce, but not the other types they have rofl.

I wanted to know when the game launches, I'm sick of these games that are always the same, RPG that you kill yourself to get things and in a matter of minutes someone comes, kills you and you lose everything you got!
From what I've read/seen in Palia everything will be different from that, I want a place where I can enjoy the game without having to worry!
I played Albion for a long time, but there comes a time when dedicating your time so that in the end a group of more than 30 people kill you, when you were just doing a simple collection... it's very frustrating!
Please tell me that Palia's release is near!

So what I know about the story so far is that humans will be reappearing in this fantasy world after mysteriously vanishing centuries or millenia ago, and part of the story will be trying to understand that mystery. Do we know any other things about the story? It seems like the devs want a lot of things to be a surprise for us to discover ourselves.

Just finished reading. That was well thought out and extremely detailed, and the thought of hiring farmhands is kinda nuts, though I suppose you'd have to uhhh, figure out how payment would work, like, limit the work to jobs that can't be done wrong, then have auto payment methods to calculate payment postwork etc.

Otherwise, the crosspollination also sounds great, I'd rather it end up with flowers that can't reproduce so we don't end up with a game that is pure chaos in flower selection, unless you limit the crosspolls to predetermined flower types that can be market searched etc. You could also apply the husbandry idea of genetic variation to the crosspolls, which again is why I'd like them to be unreproducible to make them all special or whatever.

I have nothing to add. Did you have Viva Pinata in mind when typing that btw? I was reminded of it when reading.

Viva Pinata is actually bonkers, one of the most perfect gardening games released. You plant stuff then random pinata animals come eat the fruit or seeds or whatever, then you build them houses and breed them, then that's how you lure predatory animals which you can breed too. Some need water ponds or a bunch or certain plants or whatever. Just skip through this video to get a grasp of the aesthetics.
