think of combat as just killing and getting loot, then think of hunting as a skill which allow you not only to kill abt get a loot, but also things like skinning the animals/working on gathering more resources. That’s smth I would like to suggest (just haven’t had the time to) which is things like minigames to gathering parts of an animals, almost like DnD’s nature checks but interactive in a way

Assuming the library will be filled with those stories that the devs were making during that "free week" they just had. It would be really nice if you could choose to read them in the library. Would be so cozy to just walk into the library and see a few people in different spots just reading a book

It could be done if it was validated by the team before being added to the games book collection.

'There' did that with player created items. Sometimes it took a week or a month before the item was confirmed okay to add to the game

Even text can take up space, and if you have enough players generating text freely and having it stored server-side (which it would have to be for easy sharing!), then it quickly becomes a space issue.

For instance, the web novel I'm rewriting? The original version is just over 40,000 words in length. If I'm lucky the rewrite will be about the same. As ecstatic as I'd be for it to be accepted into Palia's libraries as something for all to read and enjoy at their leisure, that's quite a hefty ask!

Then, if people keep submitting novels - as fun as it would be to see everyone's creative works! - it becomes a space issue right quick. So it might be safer to have a lower limit than that.

Based on the fact that last years group project they did involved creating books for their new game. They probably have something in place to add books created outside of the game added to the game. It would be just the extra step of ensuring limits and safety before adding player created ones.

In a more recent post in ( #❔│game-faqs ) they mentioned consoles after PC release. And looking at the careers ( https://www.singularity6.com/careers) Switch is the only platform specifically named.

you can always create your own subscription and use the store to spend x amount of money each month 🙂 I'm usually a subscriber but I feel this may be the lesser of two evils as with a subscription I always felt I had to make sure I played every month even if I didn't feel like it. With Palia I can now feel comfortable that I can pay x amount each month and not worry if I don't play for a few months.

Yeah, I think I just have fond memories of games like Diablo, when you saw someone and they looked cool it was because they had to spend hours to get their gear, as soon as you can buy great looking gear all I can tell is who spent the most money on the game

With Palia you will be able to tell if someone bought the item or worked for it .. the items you buy are not achievable through game play and vice versa. They have separated the two elements.

yeah, I think my response is just disappointment, really thought this would be an honest pay to play with paid expansions. At least then you know the cost of everything, nothings behind a paywall, and they make additional money by bringing out decent content. The problem with microtransactions is that the most profitable route for the company becomes creation of assets for the store potentially at the expense of adding anything to the core game, they make no money bringing out expansions to the content, only by bringing out additional paid cosmetics.

And that's fine. Disappointment always comes when you expect one thing and get another. But they have said repeatedly that they expect to be expanding the game over several years. One of their team answers post mentioned something to that effect ( #❓│old-team-answers-alpha message) . And if you haven't read the full monetisation blog you might want to, to understand their reasoning behind it and what they expect to get out of it.

Also, if it makes you feel better. The 2 founding members of the team are both Ex Riot Games. I've never played any of their games so can't comment on how their games worked.

Yeah I did just read the blogpost. It didn't overly fill me with confidence. It basically said we will only sell cosmetic items, and they will be separate from the in-game earned items (which is ok), and then went on to say they will be making changes to those rules, some of which we won't like, but they will always be open about making them 😕

FFXIV was fun for me, for a long time.
But late-game, the button bloat got to me. I felt like I was unable to memorize when to use which ability, simply because there were too many.
Ended up playing for the fashion after reaching lv80, but many fashion items I wanted were dungeon/raid rewards. Cryptlurker stuff, for instance.
Paying a monthly sub for a game I was only using for fashionable screenshots didn't end up being worth it, but I still miss the game sometimes. Eorzea is a fun place to visit for me, just not to live in.

I'd consider going back if my main were simplified a little. I played Bard.

Very late but I also play Bard! It's actually in a really good spot right now, but they've made some job adjustments with the latest patch that came out today. Unsure how it affected Bard.
But I getchu. Thankfully, Cryptlurker stuff is now considered just for glam, and you can get it with Poetics! :D The best looking gear imo is the lvl 90 Gathering gear right now, which is crafted, though. Simple, but chic.
I understand about all the buttons, though. It's one reason why other classes are so intimidating to me when they start out at like 50 or 60+. Especially really technical ones like Black Mage.

Not yet, we only have an estimate of less than 2 and a half years .. with possibly 4-5 tests before it's ready for everyone, as per this comment by Amelia before the alpha invites went out.

It's currently in alpha testing, and they haven't officially announced a release date - see channel heading - all we have are a few statements made when asked .. starting from less than 3 years in June last year.

While I can't give any specific dates, I can assure you that we are much closer than 3 years from launch.```

Game development is a LOT harder than people really think, and S6 started as a small group of folks with a HUGE vision. They seem to be scaling up looks at the Dev Team role but if you want a quality game you still gotta wait.

imo. It mostly it depends on the race making the comment.

Humas are to my knowlegde in any setting the blank slate race, witch means you have the worst of the worst and the best of the best in the mix. As such its hard to make a defining insult for such a mixed bag of individuels.

However with sylvaris as exsample they are all plant beings born bound the the pale tree, with no exceptions (unless you include the discarded magumu story line xD). As such it is easier to make a insulting term towards them as they all share a very defying trait uniq to them.
