Well guys please handle this invitations a little bit more realistic and mature. There are 100k+ subscribtions and only approx. 1,5k-3k slots available for this alpha test phase. And we are not talking about stress testing the server, where the devs are happy about every one logging in to get realistic numbers, we are talking about a early test of engine and a few features. So please guys, calm down ... you'll get your chance!

Well it's linked to discord via your discord id so that you can discuss safely in the alpha channels. It can get hard having to take that extra time before speaking to make sure you aren't going to say anything that isn't public knowledge - which is why there are more links and quotes in my answer posts - just to make sure that the powers that be know I'm pulling those answers from something they posted here at some point since announcement 🙂

you can assume the first week to two weeks had a huge spike of activity due to news, and press release

assuming that trend staid steady (big assumption) you get about 14k signups per day for two weeks which is almost 200k signups

Fer.al by Wildworks for example, didn't use membership, there was no P2W, no pvp, everything was purely cosmetic, and yet the players constantly complained about how much things cost, the Dragon avi for example was less then $5 and yet was too much for a good amount of people, they wanted it free, they wanted everything free, but forgot that games need cash to run. Tried seasons passes for exclusive items and unlockable avatars, people complained abut how much they where too. The game didn't make the money they wanted, cloned it for Cinder with NFT's to recoup their losses , and then shut the game down before it even got out of early access, completely destroying it's fanbase and breaking may people's hearts. Really crossing my fingers that Palia doesn't end up like that.

The last game I played on Android with any real commitment was Shop Titan's and even thought I paid the 12$ a month, the game slowly felt more and more like a pay-to-win even thought you aren't in direct competition.
But when the perception is that people who not only paid the monthly fee but then hundred's of dollars a month in addition to that in order to get really rare blueprints and outperform the free and monthly paying players... that is where things get to 'feel' like a pay to win.
It can be a hard line to walk.

not so sure about that, i have a pretty good imagination. Its pretty telling what Bobby Kotick told his investors for last year and how much has actually materialized in that space. Mobile is healthy enough i don't doubt that, but not the monolith that is console or PC microtransaction operational revenue. Given volume of mobile devices has plateaued in the last three years i doubt much will change in that space anytime soon either. Mobile is limited by its input factor, so while i expect that analogue to evolve i don't expect rapid revenue growth.

Agreed, it would be best if everyone felt like they were getting what they expected. It will be a little hard since as people posted prior to this of free-to-play games where the players felt entitled to the real money market items. Some people have far more disposable income then others and that alone can cause some animosity.
I like what they are suggesting with their plan for free-to-play with real world cash market for cosmetic only items. I hope they keep in mind that many are thinking of Palia as a crafting/resource gathering/exploring social type of game; and limiting certain recipes/colors/blueprints behind a paywall will upset some so a balanced workaround would be something 'we' as potential alpha/beta (and actual) players should should help developers with constructive criticism and plausible suggestions.

It will be hard to walk the line between premium and freemium content, they will have to make some kind of design decisions around styles or color palettes. But all is yet to be seen

Once we see what they are offering as an experience game wise then we can see where they plan on making those choices, and of course as 'testers' we should be giving them plausible solutions if as a whole we think they are going in the wrong direction.

Too many MMORPGs have died in this last decade due to not having the numbers of players, a loyal relatively large player base, or a reasonable income structure.

I've thought about this kind of stuff for quite a while for anything artistic in general, and I'm a firm believer that the working option is to create something for yourself. If you appeal to other people you can only generalise to what is superficial, and you also run the risk of getting caught up in weird philosophies that aren't compatible with the human part of people.

I'm not opposed to that train of thought, not only because I've been in at least a dozen Alpha/beta's. But I think regardless of how many you have done (none + ) the point that EVERYONE getting in should keep in mind is that this isn't a preview of the game, it is a chance for you to help the developers bring THEIR vision to fruition. I'm not saying that the testers shouldn't give suggestions, but they should be constructive and with options. And keep threats out of the testing... such as "I'm not going to play unless you do this".
Far to easy to get negative, and because of the digital divide it is all to easy to become impersonal and not think of the people you are communicating with as feeling people.
