Okay, so because this has relevance, a Comparator in electrical engineering takes two lines of power, and outputs a signal indicating which of the two inputs has the larger voltage.

In minecraft, since voltage is translated into power distance, a comparator either acts as a signal strength repeater, or a detector (for fullness state of objects, including pages turned on a book). The subtract function just turns the thing into the reverse, instead of outputting, it reduces or flips the way power is output (instead of giving power for full chests, it gives power for empty).

The reason I say this has relevance is PLEASE DON'T MAKE ME DO THIS IN PALIA. I can't help myself, and if there is a crafting minigame with this, I will spend all my time in game doing it vs. exploring.

Technically, there is some nuance in terminology there - all video game characters have AI running them. AI is technically the "rules" that have been given to the NPC about how to act. Machine Learning is effectively a subset of AI, where those rules are learned through time by data.

So, the NPCs have what I would deem a "magical" system for AI - as in... I'm not smart enough to comprehend that type of AI myself.

But, do the NPCs currently have any ML in them... no, but maybe in the future when there are more interactions and data for them to learn from 🙂

I for one hope there is a unified currency in Palia, as I have dealt with a barter system in ECO, and a multiple currencies in one game (PoE). And from my experience, a single currency is easier for player trades.

Not necessarily, the economy could be entirely barter based, where goods are traded for goods.

One game I play, ECO, in the early days of the server, before a government has been established, all trades are barter based. If you want to buy something from someone, you have to provide that person with something they want. If you don't have it, you have to find someone who does and buy it from them, but if you don't have what they want, you have find someone who does and buy it from them. The chain goes on and on until you find someone who will buy your goods.

no, they just haven't got the staff yet for language moderation. When the game starts getting localized they will start adding language specific channels here and hire staff or acquire volunteers to moderate them at that point. They do explain this somewhere here

Yep in FAQ - Can we get a channel for (insert language)? Given that the Pre-Alpha was in English, we've taken the decision to have the server be primarily in this language at this time. It's also very difficult to moderate channels in a language we don't speak. When we're ready to localize the game, we'll make sure to add language-specific channels for players and some of the lovely community members who have already volunteered for moderators.
