Well, many of us are already coming together in groups to form "Neighborhoods." As mentioned officially, Neighborhoods will be this game's equivalent to a guild system. You may noted the "[ART]" in my username displayed here on Discord, this is because I am joining the "Artists Guild" which is a group of players who are artists and help create content (emotes, stickers, etc.) for this discord server. There is the [QoL], which stands for The Queendom of L'asëa, and they aim to treat everyone in the Queendom like Royalty. There are few others as well.

Granted these neighborhoods are not yet in the game (because the game is not launched yet of course), but we are already coming together in unique ways to celebrate fellowship and community that this game hopes to achieve.

While we do share some feature overlap with traditional MMORPGs, Palia's genre is Community Simulation MMO. Which means our core loop and primary gameplay systems have a very different focus. One way we like to put it is that all of the sideshows in an MMORPG (crafting, gathering, housing, etc.) are our main events, where we pour all our energy and resources.

Is this just a general term you're using saying that she hasn't figured out her future career or is this some kind of player system? Like being able to choose a path as a Cook which would give you access to certain cooking skills, recipes, etc. that people that didn't choose that path would not have access to.

This is a narrative concept linked to a certain culture in our game of choosing a lifelong career in young adulthood. We have not yet determined if/ how the human characters (ie -- the players) will engage with this narrative concept. The main thing is we want players to be able to play the way they want to, and engage with systems as they see fit. So we are unlikely to unlock important gameplay content behind a narrative Path choice.

The villagers you can build relationships with will have their own quest line to grow that relationship. [S6] Neleimour — 06/03/2021 Yes! You'll be able to romance the villagers and they all have unique storylines attached to the relationship system. Romance is not tied to gender, so everyone will be able to romance their favorite NPC. and in #❓│old-team-answers-alpha Absolutely! In fact, the “main” story arc for each NPC is unlocked through the friendship system. The romance is intended to be a separate arc that players can engage with completely optionally. Completing the romance portion of the story adds flavor and specificity to your relationship with the NPC but it will NOT affect your ability to complete their story arc. While we do want the romance to feel meaningful and satisfying, we don’t believe that close relationships need to be romantic in order to be meaningful. And neither do the citizens of Palia!

Regarding playing other 'races' : [S6] Neleimour — 06/04/2021 Slight correction here, humans are the race for pre-alpha. We are open to the idea of expanding but no concrete plans on that yet. So maybe later on the player race situation will expand as needed for the story to progress.

I personally like that they’ve gone with human only, since it is a life sim and all of us are humans. But they’ve managed to make a narrative that makes humans exotic and interesting, which is the opposite of real life and all other games with all their different races

The main thing to make a game pop is if they innovate and do something big. Like Plenty of MMOs go the safe route with crafting and gathering, but since this game is revolved around them, I would like to hope that they are goanna do something interesting, Like FF14s crafting or Gw2s mounts.

But removing almost all aspects of competition from an MMO is a very different design that is for sure.

I hold that somewhere between recent Monster Hunter games and Phantasy Star Online 2 is a good way to go for "level of customization", whether it's a mix or happy medium, if they want "vast customization" as their aim.

MHGU, World, and Rise all had quite expressive customization

It's been alright! We just lost a run of Dungeon of the Endless with a partner.

Got overwhelmed on floor 7 without much Dust to light our way.

So when it came time to escape, well, there were just a few too many baddies.

I remember a "eureka!" moment I had building rockets. If I adjust the wings on my rocket to make it spin like a football or a bullet, the inaccuracies of my thrust funnel could be counteracted by the gyro forces.

I didn't have a way to properly machine the funnel that my rocket thrust passed through, which led to uneven thrust projection. By causing the rocket to spin, or Barrel roll, it would keep the rocket from tilting off the desired axis.

There's no player health or death, and a non hostile environment, I'd say combat is, far from what the goal is ^^ but like Xrystal said they've also mentioned it may happen down the line but that too will be opt-in/out, so you wont have to do combat if you don't want too
