I can't speak with 100% certainty because I'm not a dev...however, I have had a ton of exposure to the devs and their goals and their vision of this game in the 5 months I've been here following this project. Nothing about their vision screams gacha or loot box mentality to me, so I would be VERY surprised if they ended up announcing a monetization plan that included these features

You wouldn't "need" it to progress in the game, but if you liked it enough and were willing to spend the money it could be a way for them to make some extra money. Most MMOs don't use Gacha. They just have really unfair items that scream "pay to win" in late game PvP and stuff, and unfair item upgrade chances that encourage you to use money to buy items to increase the chance of increasing stats on your gear.
Gachas are mainly used for mobile games like final Fantasy Brave Exvius. Genshin Impact is a popular PC/console/mobile game that also uses the gacha system to have a small chance at actually getting the character you want.

I think the better more accurate answer is...we don't really know. They said Alpha will begin sometime in the first half of next year (January - June 2022)...that's about all the certain dates we truly have

So today is MY 5 month anniversary with Palia. On June 5th I was feeling extremely lonely and lost and didn't really have anything that I was excited about. I happened onto MMORPG's website and saw an article about a new cozy game. I watched that trailer, joined the discord, and the rest is history. I have sooooo many people here I now count as friends, I was way extremely lucky to get chosen for the pre-alpha testing, and even had a Palia meet-up with two other fans in my town that I met here. In the 5 months I have been following Palia, it has already been more than a game to me. It has been a community and an atmosphere that helped me fight through some of my previously negativity. For all those here that have sent me kind words, funny jokes, and just friendly conversation. You have meant the world to me. I can't wait for us to continue on this Palia journey as the months and years continue to flow.

The last game I had that combination with was Sims Online. 36 hours straight back in those youthful days during my out of work years. I've been admiring the architecture of Kilima Village and speculating its inspiration. Right away I noticed the half-timbering technique in the walls associated with the Tudor period of English history in the 16th century. The building volumes and roof shapes remind me a little of Norse / Viking architecture with the shingled domes and vaults, cantilevered roof beams, and curvy floorplans. Anyone else interested in this stuff? What do you think?

The mountain range nearby and the heavy presence of wind power make me think of Germany and the Alps.

Whatever the inspiration, it's all brought together to make something really unique and charming in my opinion

And now, for some strange reason, the humans are returning .. so generations of majiri are likely to have lived on Palia since the humans disappeared with Einar possibly the only entity who may have been around when the humans were. And of course all the artifacts and ruins scattered around the place. Mystery 1: Why did they disappear ? Mystery 2: Why have they come back? Potential Mystery 3: How/Why were they there in the first place?

Ah someone had a fix for it 3 months ago .. well work around I faced this issue many times. My fix usually is to resend the link, but just change the media to cdn and .net to .com. https://support.discord.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360060786232--bug-media-not-playing?page=2#comments

I found this on a website .. might be a factor - Your membership tier determines the size of movies you can send. Your membership tier determines the size of movies you can send. You can only transmit films up to 8 MB if you have a basic account. You’ll need the Nitro account to get around Discord’s 8MB limit. You can share MP4 files up to 50 MB in size with the Nitro membership or 100 MB with the Discord Nitro subscription. But then that doesn't explain why you can't access as per normal.

I’ve always put it as Kilima with 1 L. But yeah likely to have gone through a few changes and the odd spell change over time.

The only time frame we have for release is less than 2 years and 7 months. Alpha is due by the first half of next year. Make sure you sign up for testing and cross your fingers for a spot in Alpha.

We're more like Stardew there. We plan on having things like time of day affect fish, yes. Can't say anything specific yet though. [S6] Bourbon — 06/06/2021 I'm aware of Stardew's infamous fishing difficulty. We are aiming for a similar level of depth but with a gentler difficulty curve. You should be able to succeed at low-level fishing even if you are not good at the mechanic.

That seems really nice! I'm pretty good at the fishing in Stardew but I have a few friends who would definitely prefer something a bit easier

I hope that certain fish are still possible to catch but really challenging during your early levels
