The question has been asked of the devs back in June but they didn't answer the question, but anything to do with monetization hasn't been answered yet as they are likely still finding out the best way to handle things .. but the game does have an economy and unique player to player trading. I hope there will be many servers, but people will be re-allocated based on best average connection for all in the same neighbourhood or whatever grouping you call it, that way you have a chance of having good connectivity when you are playing with a group of people who are from the same region

Regardless, there's no reason not to offer a better server option for those who could utilize it. Just found out that a friend's store caught fire yesterday - burned to the ground. The day before, the antique store where I used to work was burglarized twice on the same night.

The thing we were most concerned about - a nearby store, which also burned to the ground kept a cat in the store during working hours. The cat wasn't in the store so he's safe.

There does seem to be a bit of localized crime wave in that area recently. Lots of retail.

But the store that caught fire was a 2nd hand furniture store. They also did some original retro pieces and I wouldn't be surprised if some of the materials they used for construction were the cause of starting the fire, but for sure they accelerated it.

We got it pretty bad in Western Canada, had temps around 40C (~100F) pretty much all Summer... Combined with a very underpowered AC, and working from home, made it a rough time haha.

Yeah, I feel it will be more immersive if the quests feel more unique rather than everyone gets to do the same quest. Maybe the npcs have a large collection of quests in their quest chain and will jump between them far enough apart so that two players playing at the same time (but not grouped) will be given different quests…. Best way to lose weight in my experience is to be very rigid in your diet, and just regular exercise. Walking for an hour a day is a great start

What I have been doing is either a 15 to 30 minute paced walk or a 15 to 30 minute dance workout. With the dance workout I load up a playlist of House music from NoCopyrightSounds and actively move to it. I burn like up 300 calories doing that.

I with you on that sentiment. I think that there are many things that contribute to that feeling, but I don't think that everything you do has to be for a purpose, just that there's enough meaningful interaction, choices, actions and decisions matter.

That's actually a pretty good question. I do not think there is a specific answer to that, but I think I will reference a quote from [S6]WhoaNonstop to give some insight to how content is going to be delivered for players. Another member of our community asked...

Another question I have is more towards endgame (which I know is still in development). In animal crossing, after people had completely designed their islands/gotten everything they needed and wanted, they just lost interest in playing the game. Even with new content retention numbers never game back. When players in Palia finish designing their lot and houses and farms and systems, has there been any thought on the longer term on whats going to keep players engaged in the game once they've finished grinding for their houses, interior decor, farms, etc?

How much content there is in the game, how long will it last with x amount of hours in x timeframe on average. What is the replayability value of content x. If it's a constantly developing game with a heavy emphasis on communities doing things together in an inclusive manner, there may not be an "endgame"?

I think for a live-service MMO of any kind, the end game is any content after completing a main story arc or expansion.

We don't want to put a whole wiki inside the game, but we don't want you to feel like you gotta have a wiki open to even play. Exploration will be more about finding what's going on in a world where people and animals have their own thing going on, and you're in the mix there.

I like the idea that an mmo can be played alone while still needing some interaction with people cuz that’s just natural. Like… not having to team up with folks but having to go to someone’s shop and get resources and stuff for a journey or ask around like “how tf do you do this”

Well let me explain, if I am interpreting their goals correctly, it sounds like there may be some things that are more rewarding (in terms of feeling satistified with the gameplay experience) where if there is group participating, but it sounds like there is no grinding or raiding in Palia.

The main thing we were inspired to pursuit is the universal sense of community from accomplishing the big thing with your guild. But without the intense level of grind typical to Raiding

Oh really? OH ANOTHER THING I like how you can do everything at your own pace in stardew while still being on a timer. Like just enough of a fire under me to get me motivated but also I can remind myself I can always get it again next time and whatever I want is waiting for me when I reach it

Yea it’s a really good vibe. Like it’s such a chill game with so much to do and look forward to. Seeing other people play it doesn’t ruin the game like how it feels when I play other stuff. It makes me excited to get there and try it myself

Mmos are designed for interaction. I'm ok with limited (self imposed limitations) during play.
I normally don't join guilds, if I do, I'm usually still a bit quiet and choose rarely to join in on activities with groups.

It's not about how good or interesting the devs make the game. I don't feel left out by not attending events with them.

To help give a better understanding, I did relocate the exact quote from Game Director Aidan Karabaich in #❓│old-team-answers-alpha. This should give the best expectation to what we can expect from Palia in terms of the community aspect of it.

Our goal with Palia is for it to be fun solo and even better together. As such, we think it’s critically important to always have meaningful things you can do in the game when playing solo, whether it’s because you’re waiting for friends to come online or it’s your preferred way to enjoy the game. That being said, there will also be activities that either require or are significantly more manageable when done with others.
