Precisely. Your initial spike is going to be exponentially higher than your average player count, and all of them are going to be competing for the same server resources & cross-communicating with the highest possible number of people.

You could build a server that supports that, but it's gonna cost 11x more than you will ever need again, and it'll only be useful for one or two days a year.

AWS can be handy for this, since you could allow some dynamic scaling, but setting that up and paying for it is still a pretty big ask

I would love a player relationship system; and a shared housing system if possible but I realize there’s concerns over the shared housing concept.
I’ve never been apart of a guild in an mmo so I’m not sure how shared buildings work in other games so I don’t have much insight on the matter.

Like is just a game- you’d think people would be able to handle dividing their home contents and such- but nah we’d need some Palian lawyers up in here.

Whether there is shared housing, certain foods for certain lifestyles etc etc, if you wanna be vegan or only eat fish, if you want to share your house with your partner or live alone. No matter if it's in the game or not, you can pretend

And before that 36 hour play windows in Sims Online rofl

But that was nearly 20 years ago .. so .. not gonna happen with Palia .. way too old for 36 hour long sleepless days

As fun as it would be to live right next to someone, instanced housing allows players to be chaotic with decor without their chaos impacting their neighbors.

This is what a few websites mentioned after they attended a preview event ( link to one of them: https://www.mmorpg.com/previews/singularity-6-reveals-trailer-for-upcoming-community-driven-mmo-palia-2000122165 ) : Guilds will also be present but are known as Neighborhoods. I did ask if the equivalent of guildhalls would be part of Neighborhoods? They said that there are so many features for the neighborhood system, and it would need a separate presentation session. Though one feature most requested by players is cooperative builds. Not being in here and written by a dev .. you can take it with a pinch of salt.

There's a pretty open fast travel system in the Alpha right now and we're considering all forms of feedback on how to improve it. so maybe you can't just walk between zones it maybe something you use some form of travel .. maybe the gliders are the flying transport systems in the game to get from each zone to the next .. whether that will have a loading screen hard to say .. it depends on how they have designed the world.

Altair in first AC is really nice character, he appears in Ezio's story too because lore
AC 3 sucks in my opinion, Connor has 0 character, althought lore-wise AC 3 , Rogue and every AC game during that period builds a nice, new perspective in which Asassins act like dicks and Templars are semi-good.
Black Flag - it's a pirate game, if you gonna play it don't even pay attention to all of Assassin stuff - it doesn't really matter.
Unity is.... okay? I guess? I had fun playing it.
As for new ones - I didn't play them. They are much much different, but my boss (not ducky, my irl boss) played all of new ones and he likes them a lot

Oh that reminds me, since Palia is gonna be a kind've "harvest moon-esque" styled mmo, are we gonna be guaranteed to get a house or land to place a house?
Housing is such a finicky thing in MMOs and it's SO hard to find ones that do it right.
I'm worried it'll either end up like FF14 where it's literally freaking impossible to get one without giving up days/weeks of your life and developing carpal tunnel, or it'll be like ArcheAge where you end up with these huge chunks of land that turn into squalid nasty nuts-to-butts grid locks of houses all squeezing into the same area.

I think the only one I really truly liked was Black Desert, where you could purchase a house or apartment type living space in multiple different areas in the world and in towns, and it basically made an "instance" for you. So you could walk up to your door and either enter your home or look at a list of a ton of other ppl and check out their homes if they were open to the public. Plus it felt super great and immersive to actually be living in town rather than out in the middle of nowhere

and it meant that anybody could live anywhere with no worries about space or if you'd ever get a chance to out bid/buy from a crowd of other people

my only concern is that if 2 people share a house there Has to be some way to mitigate the drama and toxicity that may come if that couple were to break up. Cause if the person who "owns" the house can kick out the other person but maybe that person had bought/crafted most of the furniture it's gonna get ugly fast

like maybe whoever crafted the item gets to keep it, kind've like how if you craft something in FF14 you can see their name in the item description

exactly! Some kind of npc somewhere maybe who will hold onto the items until whoever owns them can claim them (again pulling an FF14 example, if you lose your house/apartment there's an npc that will automatically take/keep your furniture items until you can come claim them)

Should have to get married in-game first before you can co-own a house with someone too

For Example:
2 player have 1 House

• they need douple Items to build something (Chair cos normal 2 wood but then 4 wood)
• If they build items from Archiments or quest thex can build it normaly
• Legendary items are only 1 for House, so they could not build 2 items

1 Player leave the House because they don't like it

• every normal item will duplikate because at the time they life together the Items cost the duble.
• Items from quest and archivemnts will only duplikate if the other player have the quest or archivment done.
• Legendary items will duplikate to, because the craft it togerther

2 player have there own house but will now married

• every item how is the same will in the new house but only 1 Item not 2
• every item that is only at 1 player will destroid in basicitems (1 chair is now 2 woods)

i'am not sure if that work, but i think this is a good way for every situation.

I don't think (if I'm reading some of this right) that duplicating items if 2 people split would be a wise idea. It leaves it too open for people to take advantage of that and use it as a way to create more items than they had. Otherwise they'd just find a way to co-own a house, fill it with expensive furniture and then split to double it all

Maybe whoever originally places the item into the housing inventory is the one who it would be "re-assigned" too if someone were to leave co-ownership

I dunno, that feels like being punished as well. What if your partner forcibly evicted you from a home? Then all your stuff would get destroyed and even if you got the materials back you'd have to recraft everything which may or may not take a lot of time and in-game currency

Oh i'm sure in-game marriage will be a thing, it's pretty popular and I know people love it in ff14, but the co-owning a house might be tricky.
The other option would be to just be aware that if you co-own a house with someone and you're not the original home owner (the person who actually built/owns the house before you joined) then any items you place inside of it may be forfeit if something goes wrong. So it might ultimately just be a "co-own at your own risk" type deal.
