oh well, if you planning to work for big corporation or just in general "office" works - always be nice. Be mad when you are 100% sure you can back it up by either screenshots or your supervisor support, because being nice will win you more stuff than acting like a dick.
If you get any mails and they don't make sense, ask the sender politely to explain again.
Before you ask anything anyone, contact with your supervisor to get the general idea who are the guys you will talk to and what to expect. It's always better to know if someone is a dick.
ALWAYS. BE. NICE. TO. THE. CLIENT - never, EVER attempt to make client look stupid or overexplain things when they are visibly getting mad about this. Client can be a moron, but you gotta be nice to them, in most cases this is where your company gets the money to pay you.
If you get into an argument with any of your coworkers, try to defuse the situation on "coworker" level. If you go to your supervisor it's called escalation and even if your supervisor doesn't care, he still needs to act on it because you just reported someone to him.
If you say anything that's not in the line with company policy, never do that on "paper" where people can screenshot that or record it.
In general, don't be a dick and support your team efforts if it's worth it.
When you get promoted, there will ALWAYS be people who will be mad about it and they will try to make your life harder. These people usually do nothing at work and expect to get promotions. You can ignore those if you are becoming their supervisor. And for situations like this you want to have screenshots of inappropriate behavior of these people, just in case they decide to make your life living hell, it's easy to remove people when you can back it up with proofs of their low performance.

office works are nice when you have a cool team, but you gotta remember that your team is not the whole company and some people just want to be mad about everything.

as for "how to get promoted" - since I'm perfectionist, I usually attempt to improve the processes my team already has while keeping it in my competences boundaries. It heavily depends on what are your supervisor expectations. Being good at what you do is usually a good start.

oh yeah, mistakes will happen, and good thing to do is to just be sorry when it's clearly your fault. Don't try to defend yourself if you know you fucked up. And don't get on hate-train if someone else makes a mistake, people remember things like this.
oh and never talk shit about your supervisor to your coworkers. Some will betray you eventually. It's always candies and sweets when there's no talk about getting promoted, but just show these guys a chance to get higher and they will happily put a knife in your back.

It's really tricky because different things hit people in different ways. I can eat a heap of strawberries and pineapple and clock half what I test after a single piece of toast, but my friend can't touch pineapple without spiking through the roof.

Weirdly, it's when I try too hard to be good that I test the worst. My Endo doc insisted I don't cut carbs to the extreme because she didn't want me to lose my carb tolerance completely. I let myself have a drink here and there. I let myself snack from time to time. I bake reasonable treats. Sometimes I dip back down into pre-diabetic numbers. When I'm strict my numbers tend to suck.

For me I have the issue of my numbers rising while I sleep. I've even done tests where I fasted before bed , checked my levels and been at 90, then gone to sleep, and when I got up in the morning I was at 120. I just don't get it.

I do struggle with staying away from soda, which always makes a significant difference in my test results. But a can of coke is the fastest and most effective way I've found to kill the migraines when they roll in. It's a coin toss. Sometimes I decide it's better to be a functional human than to pass my next blood test.
