I don't think that's unpopular, really. Everyone is equally valid to contribute to Palia whether they talk in here all day or just saw the trailer and thought 'neat' and signed up on the site and never joined Discord. Maybe talking in here gives a more full perspective on what some of those talkers are like, but it certainly doesn't mean they're better people or more qualified. S6 used a variety of factors to determine who they picked, and I think that's fine.

Its possible that people that were hoping the game would have certain elements and find they are not will log in .. play for a few days and get bored .. come back the next update or two .. and then if it still doesn't fit them .. maybe never come back.

People will come into the game with a lot of expectations about how it is, and a lot will leave and wait till more things get released, kind of like how genshin was on release

I couldn't help but feel like this kind of MMO will really appeal to players that love OSRS skilling and Animal Crossing in a weird crossover type game. It's my dream game, in concept.

And I think that's totally fine, after hearing the release of housing on genshin, i'm a lot more excited to hop back into it when I get around to acutally downloading it.... but there's always people like that for mmos... play new patch > get burnt out > leaves > returns next patch

I was the same with wow .. joined it with my boyfriend at the time .. made a few friends .. but fighting games aren't my cup of tea .. so eventually ( after 10 years or so ) .. things fizzled .. and I tried doing the parts I liked .. hunting/crafting/gathering etc but found a lot of the important stuff I liked involved dungeons and raids .. so needless to say my 6 hours of raiding with friends .. has turned into 1 hour over 6-12 months ( more when fixing my addons ) at the start of an expansion .. and then unsubscribe for the 2nd year rofl

That can be healthy for an MMO too. Having a cyclical growth and decline cycle allows the developers to improve or change the game with less pressure sometimes.

I think that the game they want to design (with the laid back/casual community focus) will result in less knee-jerk reactions to change and development.

We like this too and one thing we ask ourselves about when designing spaces is discoverability. We don't want to put a whole wiki inside the game, but we don't want you to feel like you gotta have a wiki open to even play. Exploration will be more about finding whats going on in a world where people and animals have their own thing going on and you're in the mix there.```

It’s how I never ever get tired of Skyrim. I can start it over a million times, haha! It feels like every time I find something new! Like that guard to a certain bandit hideout, sitting in front of a blank book. If you don’t find all the little details you’d never realize he was blind!

I tested a little of Ashes of Creation that is in Alpha. They don't have quest identifiers. So your quest is based on physically talking to certain NPCs. And some options may change based on other quests you completed or your relationship with the NPC. I liked that idea, because it felt more like a story vs. just completing a quest hub and then moving on.

I personally am a huge quester. But I can't stand it when quests start becoming the same thing, just with changed text. In WOW it was always, go kill these creatures to get X amount of drop, then move to next city. Go kill these creatures to get X amount of drop...just with a little different text. I need a game to try and come up with more variation (even though I know that's a tall order)

Sadly that's not always storytelling in Skyrim, but random loot generation in many homes and locations. The more I look back at the game, the more I realize it actually... Is quite the bland game.

So when it comes to players doing major things, if it doesn't actually SHOW in the world, it ends up feeling pointless over time.

Ironically the game before skyrim oblivion has the reactive AI you are mentoning, like killing to many enemies or thieves would affect how the NPC's acted, however it lead to bad gameplay becuase if you killed to many guards a bear would be able to walk into the town and it would become off limits.

Like its this weird level of players neededing a somewhat static enviorment or they will lose there "control" over the world and run into to many hardships the game designer did not balance for.

Do you realize how long 5 weeks is? The last movie to last 5 weeks at #1 was Black Panther. A fetus at 5 weeks is the size of an orange seed and looks similare to a tadpole. Torngat Mountains National Park in Canada is only accessible for 5 weeks. The movie Five Weeks in a Balloon? 5 weeks!

5 weeks is too long. Just putting that out there. 3 weeks, that's sound good. 4 weeks, that was a bit hard to accept but I got through it. But 5 weeks? 5 weeks is crossing the line. Something needs to be done. Because I can't even conceptulaize the idea of 6 weeks.
