If you think a Community Sim MMO like Palia needs some sort of Competition, maybe you can come up with some ideas what you think would fit best into Palia without breaking the Community Sim and Cozy Theme of it and then share your ideas there. I feel like it's impossible to make every activity to include everyone and still have an experience. The best we can hope for is that they have a vision, and try to include as many as humanly possible within the boundaries of the vision. Inclusions is 100% A great thing, but sometimes trying to be too inclusive can create too many restrains on fun activities. But there should always be enough activities to be found so those who are not included in something can still find something they enjoy. Think of a themepark. You may not like rollercoasters but you can still ride the merry-go-round

Voice chat is impossible to avoid mate, I hate it as much as many other introverts do however with things like Ventrilo and Discord being a thing if it's not in game people will use out of game methods to do it. So the fight to keep voice out is pointless.

That's why guild discords exist. A lot easier to manage everything in discord with all the channels etc. Its a lot smarter to let third person programs deal with that aspect, as it works so well. If you have played any mmo with the intent to raid or dungeon, its the way its done and it works really well.

yeah in the context of palia text chat is probably fine. in PvP games you need the immediacy to defuse situations that can be deadly in a second, but in a more community minded and peaceful game the "latency" of typing doesn't matter so much

I actually would like to differ about what the best way of communication is. Voice can easily be misheard, or conversations forgotten. With text there is a log of communication to look back on which can help with communication. And while some things can be lost in translation such as sarcasm which isn't a needed function of communication nothing can be misheard when it is there in plain text.

It's a function of psychology, not opinion. Most communication is done visually through body language, which includes tone of voice. Scrapping that out and leaving communication to text removes most of the context of a conversation and creates more confusion. I don't think VC needs to be in-game but it will inevitably be necessary to streamline communications.
