a casual is sort of a weird one, since they change drastically with the genre of game but share a couple of the same things across the board. the two I notice is wanting to do less (which is not exactly bad & is shared with hardcore), & dislike for challenge (which seems to directly be in opposition of hardcore).

it has been my experience that casuals don't stay in one place for very long so I do wonder what that could mean for long term games

Yeah it was really great. You could do it in the first game too. The cool thing about DC2 was you got a fishtank where you could feed, breed, and battle the fish. Really cool side game.

just the relaxing aspect overall... the community. and if in pre-alpha.. helping make the game better for everyone.. I'll be looking at a lot of the pre-existing features and talking about what works well, and what I think clashes with the core vision of the game.. I'll be paying extra attention to accessibility issues..

• Is the text friendly to read?
• do you have enough time to read?
• Are there visual Cues to things that require LISTENING.. (looking at bug catching, hunting, and likely fishing for this one)
• Is there a part in the game where you need to mash a button tons of times which might be hard for people with motor problems...
• Are there places that just feel overloading sensually?

Having a relaxing game that is not all about levels or "rushing to the end game". A game I can play in my own pace, not feeling like I HAVE to join a raid 2 times a week or I'll be kicked out, or not having to spend a whole evening learning tactics on a boss fight.

I hope that is what Palia can be.

UI customization is definitely something I will pay close attention to. It's crazy how something so fundamental often gets overlooked and can really screw with UX on an otherwise decent game

I feel like we have a pretty unique approach to how we want to handle the transfer of items between players but it's in early stages so we're not quite ready to talk about it.
Game economy will exist! We aren't sharing a lot about this now but it'll be clear when people get their hands on the alpha

I don't know if it'll be a thing, with wild animals potentially wandering onto your property if you don't have a closed gate.

But if it were a thing, and those same animals became tame after a certain time on your farm (you would have to close the gate and trap them)
If they tamed up and you were able to keep them for your own with nobody else being able to kill you but you being able to breed and butcher them if need be.
That would be cool, though if all the housing is instance rather than open world I can see how that would be challenging 😋

They could if felt like it. GuildWars2 currently allows you to trade your game currency in for shop currency (and vice versa) and it works because most people shrug and use cash for shop items because they don't want to put in the time to farm out the currency through gameplay.

People also pay cash for game currency, so what's happening is that someone buying 'shop currency' is actually buying the shop currency someone else is paying for the game bucks. It has variable conversion rates because of this, and it's pretty neat.
