True that, but with classic, quests have more grind considering I have to sit and replenish mana after every mob it seems. Modern WoW doesn't have that but instead uses microtransactions and a more complex auction economy (powered by WoW tokens).

To keep on subject, it is my hope for Palia that any "economy" is more supportive of invidiual player growth through cooperation and not monetization.

I suspect the servers will be sharded into smaller, cozier communities, so there's not excessive competition for resources, or anything else. If they need to consolidate, it's not too hard to just merge shards.

Alphas tend to be the basic things. Like you might only get a few bugs, a few fish, etc. Sometimes developers teleport people around to test specific things. Progress is reset often.

Oh, and also the servers for alpha tests are usually very limited to specific days.

At least for always online MMORPGs, where you need those dedicated servers.

In alphas, I usually play it normally. Walk along the set path and then look at all the lizards in the pine trees.

"Why are there lizards in the pine trees?" Then report that.

I guess some games treat alphas differently, though. Some alphas limit what you can do and set you on a path intentionally.

Other alphas just give you everything and let you roam around.

I suppose it also depends on how everything ties together. Some MMORPGs tie everything together. Like you need to level to gather, then you need to gather to craft, then you use what you craft to build something greater.

I've been rewatching Palia trailer (yeah, I know) and I saw this. Apparently, the cupboard thing there on the left is a fridge, and on the right it's almost modern-looking gas stove, just with one hotplate, there are also bellows, but no chimney which is interesting.
