In the case you have explained, then yeah, you're completely fair on feeling upset. Sadly as it is an open world multiplayer game, you'll encounter these sorts of situations from time to time, best you can do is change server or report players if they're being rude.

unfortunately, i think that's just how it is when you place an aoe down in a game where a lot of people can get too. not much more you can really do, unless s6 decides to do something, but the one thing that they've always said is to "play how you want to play"

Just today I had seen a Reddit post about people calling out (and I mean calling names/harassing) to a user that apparently had chopped a flow tree before 3AM. It honestly gets out of hand at times.

Meanwhile I found a grove the other day at 8AM in game because no one had chopped it down

They literally do not know the rules. I started a week ago. I had no idea about the 3 am chop, i didnt know what spampot is, About taking turns at the wheel in Zekis, player made rules arent gonna be something all the new players see. The only reason people learn them is if someone is talking about it in chat, i would STILL be getting jumpy at Flow Groves if i didnt know people didnt chop till 3 because i was originally sitting there like, "Theres 10 of us why arent we cutting i wanna go catch the nightime bugs"
Older players have to remember that new players cant just join the game and know what rules everyone else had made. It literally doesnt hurt to be nice to the baby players and send a 10 second message. Theres also just game mechanics that arent explained to new players super clearly so they dont even know they're doing something wrong. Im probably a lot more progressed than most people that have only been playing a week but like sitting there and learning the player rules, and watching others get mad at other new players its just like, bro they dont know... give them a chance. You dont want them to be like "This community is so rude" and stop playing..

I kind of expect a new person to run towards the honey lure nowadays simply out of curiosity and not knowing what it is. Happens every time in Kilima and Bahari where they stand in the dead centre then run off 30 seconds later I expect it even more now with the influx of new console players so I just announce on the server when I'm dropping one and to not stand in the centre of it

Oh I definitely agree with you. For the most part, people are nice about it and will explain. I just find it wild that some people really get really uhhh, protective of what are renewable resources in a game. Or wanting people to play by their rules. I get some of the frustration, but some players take it way too far.

Main reason I miss the forgs tbh, I actually had fun with randoms joining in the lures. If I'm trying to hunt for a specific bug, I try to find an emptier server (or at least that no one is around the area I'm at).

Start of the week and the weekend when people are getting their weekly quests done and have time to play the game ^^ So Mon-Tues and Fri-Sunday. If I'm limited on tickets, I try around 10am or around noon est so I get player votes from all time zones.

If you don't care about votes and simply want to show your home, just showcase when the weekly reset hits

I was reading through this and saw some rules I didn’t even know, and I thought I knew the player made rules and was being respectful. I stopped playing for a long time and only joined back on console, so I had no idea that joining in on honey lures and chopping at 3 were a thing! It’s really nice to be able to see people talking about this here so I can get to know more, and I’m sorry to all the people I ran through their lures 😂😅

The lures are far more varied than the stated imply. Some want to catch every bug, some scare away the undesired ones and only catch the ones that can not be scared and the rares. Currently the froggy is chuck bombs everywhere, but focus the infected when they show.
Hunt creatures I only worry about not scaring the ones that despawn on startle. But there is only so much you can do when you need to get from point a to b. And Half of the reason is the startle sound jump scares me.
As for spam and anything analogous - if you don’t know what something is don’t join till you do know and you actually want to do the thing. And not just in palia. The exception is ‘teaching x’ but when it is ‘speed run x’ when you don’t even know what x is, why are you joining?

Another note on the "rules", a lot of people have no way to learn the player created norms/mores/etiquette since they are not actually documented in game rules - chat is often buggy or dead, chat can be turned off(sorta), its easy to turn off the wrong chat chanel and miss messages, there's no font scaling, there's no auto translate, there's no text to speech

Most of the rules boil down to don’t waste people’s time. There are a lot of time windows people wait for, so don’t blow 1/2 of that window for them by being slow.

some like to some ppl have it blocked off from visitors for various reasons, but i’ve had randoms come to my plot

etiquette wise i guess would be, not to touch their gardens (idk if you still can or if you need editor permission anyway) and if you want you can always ask if ppl wanna cook with you :) some ppl just start cooking and either the plot owner is afk or they don’t wanna cook so the meal gets ruined (not the hosts ingredients)

i don’t think most announce their on plot either at least the ones i had didn’t and just ran around looking

No, people can only move or interact with your stuff if they have editor permissions. The only action other players can do if your plot is open is pick the weeds in your garden and water it. But there isn't a way to loot from your chests or furniture.

I’ve been trying to get the Smooth Shiny Pebble for over a week now, and I’ve already opened more than 2,000 oysters — still nothing. I know the drop rate is supposed to be low, and that’s fine, but it would be nice if there was some kind of pity system. Like, after a certain number of oysters (say, 2,000), the chances would increase.

At this point I’m starting to think something might be wrong. 😅
Has anyone else had similar problems? Or am I just super unlucky?

More digging, and yeah, from what I can find at least, it seems to mainly be about how they adjusted the Palia Coin bundles to more evenly match what's in the cosmetic store. Which... still wasn't 100% perfect, from what I can gather.

Like, the blog that mentioned that, was August of 2023. Patch notes, that dropped another outfit bundle for 2549 coins (not just one outfit bundle, but two), was in September of 2023.

And if anything else was said after in patch notes, would of been during my hiatus so i cant properly remember what patch notes it might of been said in during that timeframe

the most we know is that youll be able to decorate with someone via the shared plot. Thats all we know till the day its patched in and when the games down will get the patch notes then

i do wish that they would drop hints the week before the patch notes/update drops to tease about what the next update is going to be about. something like showing a picture of a single piece in the new furniture update, or putting in a line from the bug fix list that has parts of it "[redacted]" to tease about what's coming up in the next update. get people chatting and hyped for what's to come (even if it turns out to be filler fluff of an update)

but it does come down to just, you know, communication. things happen. there have been other companies that give road maps 1-2 times a year with a disclaimer that things can change. one game that i followed (Phasmophobia) had to delay their entire road map for a full year because trying to get the game to console version took up all of their time, they still communicated that that was why things got delayed. i'm also just talking about things that are supposed to be in the new update (that should technically be complete)

Just wanted to pop in here and rant a bit. I've opened 200 balls from the wondrous machine this last week and I didn't get any of the 4 items I need to complete my collection. Just about 2 million gold spent. I hate rng so much. I wish their was a secondary way we could buy the items outright for a gross amount of gold. Even if the Sage's Marble Singing Bowl was literally 999,999 at least I would have a chance. I just don't think rng & fomo are a great way to force players to stick around. :/

Just over a year ago, in honor of that punny father, Badruu, S6 gifted all it's happy little players ✨ Lettuce✨. There was much excitement, for Reth frequently vaunted his famous lettuce soup. Here was it's beginning! Players eagerly created seeds to grace their garden with its green leaves. But when planted, it was noted that the lettuce looked strange. Grey and spikey, like it was not yet meant for this world. Players diligently tended their gardens, hoping the lettuce would soon take on a verdant hue. But alas, it remained grey, right up to the moment that it could be pulled from the fields.
Some players made more seeds, hoping that in time, the blighted crop would appear healthy, but it was not to be. A year has passed, and the humans still wait for a chance to make their own soup... 🥬 #LegendofLettuce

But there is something else I have been waiting for.
I used to send in monthly bug reports, sort of reminders of things that still were not fixed... Remember the big giant bug infestation that happened on day in the Summer of 2023, Opening Day of Maji Market... Basically The Day The Lights Went Out Across All Of Palia. We Could No Longer Play With Friends Across the Pond, Could Not Invite Friends To Parties. Could Not View Our Acheesements, Due to Global Blackouts! At The 9th Month of This I sent a tongue in cheek bug report in, saying a human can create a new human in 9 months, had they created any fixes for the bugs they create? Why didnt they simply do a rollback a day or two after that update? If something is that broken, do not use it!
So I was really worried about this new area. But I am loving it!

But, I am here, to see if group pressure can help get a door fix. My OCD and the lack of a screwdriver in Palia, and the Love for Zeki simply demands that I do this!

The day Badruus Farm House door got messed up it got fixed right away. I have been sending in bug reports about Zekis stupid house door since Closed Beta!

Show Zeki Some Love Fix His door! There has to be at least one Dev on the payroll with OCD that looks at that door and goes crazy!

Question about conduct. In Bahari Bay we letting know in chat (and flair when you can) when there is a flow tree grove, then we also give people time to show up and then we wait till 3 am to cut. How is this in Elderwood with the infected trees? I was not able to even take 1 hit on a tree because there was a group (i think a party) going around chopping all those trees. So i moved on to another place where i saw a infected tree(s), and before i even got 1 hit, this same group JUST made it before i was at the tree and chopped them all so fast i again could not even get the tree. Please tell me how we are to play in Elderwood with the infected trees. Do we call it out in chat? Do we flair? do we wait for others?

There isn't any player "etiquette" rules regarding infected trees as they aren't a server wide game-event (Like the Flow Grove). Sorry you weren't able to hit any of the infected trees but it's a first come, first serve basis resource. People like to party to get the full amulet effects stacked plus the party double resource bonus to harvest infected essence faster. I'd suggest switching over to a different server where a party isn't already actively cutting down trees if you're in need of essence.

if it helps, infected trees act like flow trees in that there is a chance that an infected tree will spawn when a regular tree gets chopped down. i just make my own essence farm from an area, usually out of the way of the main areas and just go to town and wait for the trees to come back

Fishing on the switch and steam deck was the most frustrating experience compared to a mouse I also wouldn't mind if party fish dropped for all party players as it'd make cooking party grinds less mind numbing as well as help increase the odds of players fishing their bundles or fish collections.

Considering that the party loot system already exists for hunting, bug catching, etc. It's why I have some sense of hope that they potentially could have it work for fishing in the future (i have just always assumed coding that might be different/more difficult somehow.)

i’m thinking of something to compare to and only coming up with neverwinter where you’d get a table and send out npcs like that, WoW had it as well in some of their expansions from Warlords of Draenor and above , some could even join you as you moved around the map and only attacked thing that you did (or if you were attacked)

The issue in specific was referring to the party system as "leeching". While some players might "leech", there's also reasons as to why the way it's implemented has helped people achieve or get certain things due to being unable to do some skills, which is why so many have been asking for fishing to also have a shared looting system.

Think the most of the hot pot issues stemmed from players feeling entitled to a table, feeling entitled to how a table is played and just not thinking about the de-sync issues that come from having cross-play with consoles. If someone takes your seat, it's not the end of the world Just move to another table. But that's my hot-take whenever someone complains about their seat being "stolen" or a random who doesn't know what "spam-pot" even is and joins a table just to play the game

i’m playing a game atm bit craft that you get little selling stalls you can place down anywhere (i think just in the home base i’m not sure about in the wild) and the player doesn’t even need to be at it, they just put what they wanna sell and walk off (tbh idk how it works for sure as i haven’t done yet)

I honestly wish Hotpot was something you can take to your plot. However, if there's rewards from it, i'd expect it to be when hotpot usually opens in the unground or whatever. (or just none at all). that way people can play hotpot freely without feeling stressed about needing to spam for the RNG stuff.

Or even, have a board that you can "sign up", and look for players to play a specific way.

I mean, sure, but my point is it isnt really needed in Palia, since it's not the same kind of game. It isn't about lots of filters and things like that. It makes sense in IN since it's more of an outfit type game. Palia is about decorating (at this point).

The only things that I think would make sense is just having more emotes/poses, since it's more of a social one, too. I just don't think it's needed. I can't remember what settings are already in Palia already for the Camera stuff, but having one that at least adjust FoV, camera height and first/third person would be great, though. And like I said, again, having the option to open it and have it in a full screen view would also be great (without the weird camera symbol in the middle).

Makes me think of the traveling merchant on Stardew, and this would def be very very nice in palia too

In Palia there is switch between 1st and 3rd person, angle adjustment and zoom. That's it
The camera is attached to your character, detaching it is sorely needed

Yes, that's mainly what i mean with Camera Height (and realize i forgot to mention, just.. moving the camera freely lol). But was thinking in that sense, similar to how MonHun has. I like their camera features, even if it's a bit... of a learning curve (imo.) bc the controls feel weird.

Hi all,, I hope this is a good place to ask but when the Elderwood update came out I had a couple of days of quests which I completed, and then.... nothing... no more quests. other than hunting and fishing etc, no more content. did I just go thhrough it all really fast or was there not very much. I met the boy a few times and did a couple of quests that were based around him and then he disappeared never to be sseen again. Does that sound about right? just worrried I'm missing something obvious, like a line of quests or something!

Delaila's friendship level 3 quest has you choose between getting her gold star blueberries or SpeedyGro. If you get the quest before you reach level 10 gardening the only way to acquire the SpeedyGro is through requests.

Okay so I just had grove and this one girl was very rude. Waiting till 3am is a courtesy, a COURTESY. Not in the rules, not required. I always wait till 3 but some ppl are new and dont know this stuff. This one person was new and came on the server and did grove and started chopping literally 30 irl seconds early. There was a group of ppl and it was genuinely like 2:40am and they started chopping. This girl was so rude on this new player and the person was trying to say sorry and offering to give gold and fulfill requests and everything if they had it and when I said no we aren't going to farm you for not knowing obviously, this girl who was throwing a fit was being awful about not hearing the specific words "im sorry" and got upset that I said it was fine it happens.

I dont understand genuinely why ppl find it in them to be rude to new players or ppl in general. Grove happens every irl hour. The trees spawn all over the place. But Ive seen a handful of ppl who have played this game for years feel that the knowledge is something that is handed to you out the gate

This is why I don't bother with groves anymore. I got more flow than I'd ever need from a player hosted flow tree party, but people act like resources are finite.

It's almost as if... the game design is harboring toxicity... (I don't mean this as a dig to the devs, just that there were some oversights to the way it was designed).

The other thing is just because someone has been playing for a couple weeks doesnt mean they know these things. It took me over a week to figure out grove and Ive been playing for a month and a half and have never been to the elderwoods and it makes me nervous because I'm sure there are things in there I dont know or understand. Even though Ive been playing the game for a little less than 2 months doesnt mean I know everything. It is so easy to miss grove. Nothing in the beginning of the game tells you grove happens at midnight. Players can easily play for weeks and never be in bahari at midnight.

Thankfully a lot of us at grove were nice and had their back but imagine if no one did

I think that's just something that happens very fast in overly positive environments (Not saying it should be less positive, absolutely not) but it def. bring some risk with it. People at the start of the game agree to be good neigbours, helpful etc. and some might end up in a position where they get really judgmental about those who don't realise at a first glance what ''rules'' the community might have been established.

It's nice to know I was not the only one that was upset by this. Ive only done a couple dozen groves and have seen this a couple times but I didn't really know the extent. This game has been around since Aug 2023 and players have created etiquette rules for themselves when it comes to groves, but these are not set in stone rules from Palia Devs, they were created by players.

But the situation is that there are many new players coming in on the consoles, not knowing these rules and many of them may not have access to a keyboard to chat in game.

I can already tell you right now... that, most likely... won't be a thing... which in all honesty does kind of blow hard core because it means that we will be forever limited to 1 Grillmaster 3000 unless S6 changes something there[wink wink nudge nudge aye govna] but I digress.

S6 seems to be like... militantly attached to their progression system. If that sounds dramatic thnx I've been practicing.

But seriously though, literally any time we have found ways to progress faster than they have intended us to. They have nipped that right in the bud lickidy split... cough frogmony obviously not withstanding... honestly have no idea why they let that nonsense happen as long as the did. [When there was something in the Majimarket a while back that just like... procced the prize wheel coins to drop from a cheaper item. They patched that overnight.

Being able to trade crafter would mean that players could pretty much bypass the progression system entirely so... yeah, you see why I have my doubts that S6 would give us that kind of power. You wouldn't need to level furniture crafting because someone could just trade you a few looms.

We also have to remember that the coding for Palia is SUPER broad to the "Crafter" category doesn't just include "Crafters" it also includes things like the Stables Sign which you can only unlock after a ton of hours of gameplay

Like for anything that needs 2 stone bricks if you recycle it it will just give you 2 stone OR 1 brick

Is there any chance we could get some communication from the devs about things that have been shown off in trailers but not added in game? I'm honestly specifically referring to the color options, we've all been waiting for new colors for months, especially after the fiasco back in December/January, and I've seen some of the new colors still sneaking their way into trailers since then. I know I and some other fellow green lovers are particularly frustrated because we know there is another green option out there, again it even snuck into the Elderwood trailer. I know there's probably only so much you can do, but we're dying for new colors out here 🙏

If you do lures on the lil cliffs in the elderwoods in the dock area a bunch of beetles/flame frogs spawn and a full inventory is like 35k-40k

Closest thing to a "money hack" is epic fish cooking parties. Those are parties where the host cooks food with epic fish for everyone who comes. You can chop a common veggie and get the dishes, which go for a lot of money

Sadly this isn't the issue most people were having - Hassian simply doesn't appear where he's supposed to. There's a similar bug with one of Caleri's quests.

Yes, some text for the quests would be TINY on the the switch on a "minimal" setting, but that's the price the user pays. If they want to read, they can open up the main quest menu. UI size slider PLEASE.
