Unfortunately, if you've never caught them before, you won't be able to request them from other users. Best advice I can give is to use fisherman's brew and other buff foods, and see if you want get someone to fish with you for that buff as well.

it's just so frustrating to go achievement hunting for the Gotta Get Paid Achievements and the Makeshift is All Mine Achievement

i want those so badly but they are frustratingly hard even when i'm doing everything right, there's gotta be some way to make a million gold a day or something

in retrospect, i definitely wish i would have tried to do those achieves while also doing quests and trying for other things in the game. it probably would’ve relieved some of the exhaustion i got when i ran out of content and they were really the only non-decorating things to do.

(but i also loathe fishing, so… that may or may not be why the makeshift achieve . also because the reward is decor, which is not what i love about the game!)

just for better gauge - I got makeshift achievement at fishing lvl 63 or so - I still haven't gotten the gold one. But then I am not trying because it is kinda ridiculous, it makes me giggle every time I see it - I am on the last tier of it and have been playing almost since release.
the makeshift one is...just a patience game - keep fishing for the sake of fishing. One day it will pop. but if this is the only thing that keeps you playing. take a break. One thing I learned, this game can be played on high focus and lowburner both very nicely.

It's more the fact is may appear like fluid game-play from the video but I suspect everyone is going to experience some level of janky game-play for the first two weeks minimum. The re-appearance of the "server could not save" error when leaving my plot again, being stuck in Kilima to get back to my plot and the fact friends are also having random server crashes that were supposedly fixed in the past doesn't bode well in my eyes.

The way I see it, this happens to every game whenever they add in new content. The issue (to me) is that it usually takes S6 a few weeks so figure out what the problem is and fix it. We won’t really know until the EW releases how bad it will be but we can speculate

Really? I've seen some bugs for sure but pretty much everything I've ever played has been at least baseline stable.

The few major issues I've had with other games have generally been a problem with graphics card drivers and such rather than the game itself.

the game play video was, from what was said about "the next patch", from before march 25th so things may be pretty different with a few more weeks of work and all the retesting to make sure tackling some of the bug backlog didn't break EW

For some people, yes. There have been some folks who think the night/day are very bright, where some others think it's dark. This varies from person to person.

It's one of the reasons why I have suggested multiple times, to implement a better brightness and contrast slider- instead of having it all with "Gamma". Esp since, imo, the baseline that the game has, makes the Gamma slider not the greatest or help too much.

Which to clarify: The gamma slider has helped some people, but for a lot of folks-- myself included-- it makes it worse.

✨ competing access needs ✨ people will need different and sometimes opposite things to be adequately accommodated so finer controls like valk's example are the way to go to have the largest possible userbase and enable growth/adoption of the game (curb cut effect means it helps more than just the targeted disability/disabilities too)

like game optimization, it makes good business sense in the long term, but is "expensive" in the short term so some leadership (in all industries) just refuse to consider it unfortunately

My idea was basically a designated area in Kilima (or maji market when it's not in use) where players can set up their own Stalls-- which I would imagine that players would have to craft themselves. Said stalls could be decorated and customized (imagine stickers specifically for this.. .like flowers, chapaas, anything), so people could still showcase their creativity.

People coudl sell (and buy) whatever they wanted, or even trade items for something else of equal value (like common to common, epic to epic, etc). And the prices that ppl would 'sell/buy', would be a set price, a little higher than what you'd get if you sold at Zeki's (to compensate for someone's time).

And NPCs can randomly walk through and say random dialogue, "Oh! That looks neat; maybe I should purchase this!", etc

Would help have a sense of community, along with helping players who may not like a skill or can't do a skill

Trust, you're not alone in that that. I wouldn't even mind if they required more items / were more difficult to complete if there were just alternative ways to go about doing them.

Trading would be a great start... but even just the ability to have various methods of doing each skill would help too. Fish traps, for instance. I'm sure I could get the fish I need eventually but the skill is so inaccessible to some people due to its mechanics (and so mind numbingly boring anyway) a way to still fish, just more slowly would go such a long way.

I don't see it often so if it's not something that is well-known then I guess it's some kind of glitch thing, because the tree's leaves were the bluey-green and red of the reward tree but the same size and wood style of the normal trees

putting what you want people to vote for in the title of your plot can be helpful. Also you can vote for yourself (once a week). People are more inclined to vote for whatever option has the most votes. That said I've noticed that people tend to vote for whatever is the 1st option that week more so than any other. So I would recommend trying for whatever one is listed as the first option for that week.

alright im gonna share a major gripe i have, and with all the proper disclaimers first: it's just a game, if i don't like it I don't have to play it, in-game economies have to function a very specific way for everything to work together smoothly, and i absolutely love palia, both game and world

There is the tip of using crafters for more storage - so a heavy saw mill could hold 300 planks and 100 logs for example

Going bug hunting? Making sure you have a few hundred of each fabric and of clay.

Going to decorate? Especially with more blue prints? That'll be a few thousand stone bricks, a few thousand sap wood planks, a couple hundred sheets of glass.

Going to do anything in game with buffs and focus boosts and repaired tools? Dozens of every cooking ingredient, dozens of rare items, hundreds of planks, hundreds of ingots

Palia partners tend to be twitch streamers with solid audiences, don't think many really hang here much and they_cant_ theory craft much due to unreleased info (see perzival who became one relatively recently)

Need multiple good CMs and dozens of good mods for a good community, but CMs are under valued everywhere and heavily harassed in gaming (the ones I know refuse to ever work for a game company again, they'll change jobs/careers first) while mods burn out or flame out awfully quick (in real time spaces especially) for a variety of reasons - and that's on top of needing good communication and needing to seem somewhat response to bug reports and game instability issues and natural ebbs and flows within any community.

idk where to put these observations but some social customs of Palia I find interesting/worthy of remark (I’m sure some were totally meaningless/inadvertent, and some were more of lighthearted gaffs, and some are probably really important: these could be mild spoilers if you’re new/early in the game
general customs I’ve noticed:
|| — not burying bodies
— partners not necessarily sharing a bedroom (wish this were more common/less weird IRL lol)
— pets not being a common thing, or at least among our villagers
— the whole housewarming gift deal 🤣 ||

and some character-specific ones--i'm chronically ill and have a cultural anthro/linguistics background so this is probably just what stands out to me the most
|| -- jina and najuma seeming autistic and not really fitting in as a result of it
-- elouisa being seen as eccentric for her cryptid affinity, even though this is a world with magic, monsters, and other legendary creatures
-- kenli and eshe using canes presumably as status symbols, when it does appear that hodari has a bit of a limp (and regardless makes a bit of a trek to town!) and najuma has a prosthetic leg (i forgot if she limps or not} and neither of them use one when debatebly they have more call for it
-- no skepticism or weird questions about the origin of the children of same-sex couples, at least, thus far (chayne and sifuu)
-- people having strange/different ways of speaking despite being from the same place (elouisa and caleri, also where is hodari from?)
-- tish really having no clue about reth despite her recovering probably timing out with his strange behavior lol ||

To be fair, they have "fixed" some of them already, in some cases it seems to have been unintentional but in some others, it could appear to have been an intentional fix (such as with the metal building blocks from what I've heard)

That's sadly the double edged sword with glitching and why it left a bitter taste in my mouth that they showed it so prominently in the GameStop video and trailer because... it's almost shown as if it's intentional gameplay. Since it's so big and there are also 2 console ports going live at the same time and there may be more players (new and returning), it may not only take longer but also servers may struggle with how many people try to immediately play so I'd plan for like 3 hrs later than that

Yeah, the streamer mode (chat off) can be a bit buggy. It sometimes will show the chat when you go into a new server (like loading into kilima, bahari, etc), and then will hide again once you try to type. Hoopefully that's fixed by now or will be fixed.

The Streamer Mode (chat off) is supposed to disable it completely by a setting-- i guess technically that is temporarily since you can turn it back on via enabling it in the settings again, but it's supposed to stay that way with the setting selected.

And there's been cases for some folks where the chat is... 'toxic' or 'hostile'. Or just random chatter. Best to just keep it hidden in general if ppl prefer or want their kids/children play it with them (imo).

They've added soooo many flowers. I want to have them on hand so I can use them for decorating when I need them, but leaving them in storage is brutal.

Leaving them all on a separate plot feels bad when you only have X number of plots available.

Trees are even worse! I can't just leave those on some random plot because then I lose my item count limit.

I grew 100+ pine trees to maturity so I could have them for my Halloween plot.
Do you have any idea how long it took me to do that?

The more I hear about Elderwoods, the more I'm expecting from the follow up patch or at least the roadmap. Because there are so many things that feel so long overdue.

I have seen and heard many players echo this sentiment in discussions, having the same reaction I did when I first saw the glorious piece-- Yes, that beautiful sepia Reth portrait hanging in Tish's home and the inn. We the people (all of like a dozen of us anyways) would like to formally request the release of this prized decor to the public, that it may grace individual homes as well. Some also desire similar sepia portraits of other villagers (like Jina) too, but uhh we must prioritize the treasure we can see but not touch. 🫠🖼️💕 The deepest agony of longing as we pine after such a masterpiece, conceived yet just out of reach, is... almost more than we can bear! unless they changed it, i believe they do. i did an experiment where i picked up everything in all of my plots, to have nothing there on any plot, the count still said 32. all i had left on the plots were the trees that were outside of the build limit. i cut one of the smaller trees down and the count went down to 31

I fear this will massively affect downloads for new players and is an oversight by Xbox, now I don’t know for sure if this is a mistake but I am trying to get Xbox and the Palia devs attention on this issue since you have to manually search for Palia. There is a huge market of people for cozy games on Xbox that may not even know about Palia especially because it’s free and in development. The best, recent example I can use for the above comment is the Kilima Inn Bench was not working, you could not sit on it — they fixed it so you could sit on it, and they all rotated to default when being fixed. So anything attached to that would have been reset to default positions

The featuring system does work I've used it a couple of times, but you will need to feature it a few times if you are going for Tier 4 / 500 votes, so make sure to save up lots of tickets so you don't waste them if you are going for those nameplates

Since s6 has featured glitching so heavily (several plots in the ew trailer, touring a plot in the game play interview and explaining glitching) , I think this is the type of fixes that they're really warning about not that they're going work to make glitch decorating/building impossible on purpose

My thoughts on it are that because they're "glitches" and therefore you could say they're unintended game behavior, if they get patched it's often unintentional (like with the flower arches). But then we also had the time when they fixed the no collision on metal building blocks and players were heavily using those for glitching.

My best guess is that if its some behaviour they really didn't intend or they deem too "exploitable", they'll patch it.

Then advertising it is a real crummy move if they intend to remove all that after showing it off on purpose

I truly think it'll be incidental fixes to individual items, which will still cause problems for people relying on nothing changing, not rooting out every possible glitch

Iirc, one patch they reworked the way building blocks snapped and therefore you couldn't really place flowers all around the way you used to. It didn't affect previously made ones but good luck making another one. I don't know if they have since figured out another method but, yeah i know the decoration gurus are more knowledgeable about this too

When landscape plots were introduced, it also made ghosting rooms a bit more difficult than previously. But again, likely unintended.

I believe this too but then we also have the whole issue with crafters teleporting when placed on building blocks, which is something that some players did extensively and iirc, hasn't been patched yet.

No, Snowballs are fixed. The things that are an issue currently, is a flash effect via hitting a bug with a smoke bomb, or hitting a tree. It has a similar visual that snowballs did, but on a smaller scale.

Yeah thats why there is a big red squar on the left corner of you log in screen when you start palia when an update comes. But even then ppl come here and asking why they cant log in or why nobody said this to them.

But that has also been wrong and inaccurate before. There was a time, for example, where it was still on the game but it actually wasn't in maintenace. It was there the entire day.

it means people went into the game files and found stuff that isn’t out yet/not planned for release at all. things the devs might have forgotten to take out or have them “pre downloaded” so it’s not too much of a wait. lots of games do these. these are things “regular players” don’t really see but those with knowledge on how to find it like to spoil/pht online places so people have a “head start” on things. (not really needed for palia tbh)

yea there’s a site called paliapedia that a lot of players seem to look at but it contains such files so it’s a “use at risk of being spoiled” kind of thing. so while helpful for some, i personally don’t use it just because of this.

i play world of warcraft and they have a similar site though that i use but to me it’s “different” because of the type of game it is, and for that i’d like to know ahead of time what i’d need for something or there are helpful guides on there

Wild question i know. With the server downtime lasting 26 hours will machines still work during this time? Like for example will i be able to place down all preserve jars and will they still process during the down time?

when logged out only 1 palian day passes regardless of how much irl time passes. I doubt that would change.

So preserves will continue to work through the stack that is currently loaded in the machine while downtime happens. The garden is only on a one day cycle once you log off so it'll stop growing.

ah crafters work in real time rather than palian time don't they? flowers, trees, and gardens are on palian time and only grow one "day"

we don't know if time can pass with services down (do crafters measure time or math time, can they catch up), so they'll probably still run to some degree, just maybe not the full 26 hours
