I'm hoping future villagers fill out the "middle aged/regular adult with adult problems and confidence/complexity" roles that this game kinda misses. Like we get Hodari but he's also a father with lots of baggage around his trauma/loss with his wife.

Whereas I'd like some adult singles that aren't too old but act mature.

While I (and many others) understand that Nintendo's policies and holiday timelines may create obstacles for game developers, my point is that those policies existed prior to Palia launching on the Switch. S6 as a whole should have considered these potential issues more carefully and planned how they would navigate them before deciding that it was the right time for Palia to become available on Switch. Nintendo did not suddenly become this way. That's why it's common knowledge that updates on Switch are a pain.

I'm not sure what you're referring to exactly, but 90% of the people [honestly, more like everyone i've seen], has just been wanting the best for this game and has been saying good constructive feedback. People aren't trying to drag them in the mud in the harsh way or for laughs [not saying that's what you meant, but not sure how else to explain what i mean here.]

And prob some of the reason why a lot has been harsh, if it's in reference to the snowballs, is because it was, and is, a life-threatening issue for some.

With that aside, I get what you're saying, but I'll also mention, I hope that the critique that people have been saying, is only making WC and the rest of S6, strive and want to do better. Esp when it's from people that, I hope they realize, just want the best for this game and community.

Wasn’t talking about the snow balls. I was talking about how some people have worded or disguised their comments as “criticism” when it’s more so straight up bullying and demanding them to work faster when they are already a limited team to begin with. You can’t expect a small team to work as fast as a huge labor force. It’s just not possible. I know people like to make “jokes” and poke fun at how slow the development is. But at this point I think anyone would break from seeing the numerous amounts of comments being told you are slow when they don’t know the full proceedings behind how decisions are finalized. That is all I meant by “harsh” some people just don’t understand how much actually goes into this type of thing and by “ungrateful” I mean people who just find new reasons to be mad when their problem is most likely just with the corporate side of things.

I'd disagree. Again it depends on the patch. Some patches make infrastructure changes that make it not work, but if it is changing i.e. a single Niagara particle fx package or something that the server doesn't verify then it'll still work.

I honestly haven't seen people bully or even demand them to work faster. A lot of what people are mentioning is that some stuff, genuinely, should of been worked on sooner rather than later. A lot of the folks who have had critique, criticims in that way, were here for... a long time. I've been here since closed beta. I know there's some who has been here since alpha.

And, I know you aren't talking about snow-balls specifically, like you stated, but again... some stuff should of been realized and fixed on sooner, like that in specific. I'm using it as an example at this point, since it was mentioned and sent through feedback last year.

It just gets tiring to see the same issues/bugs get recycled over n over with little to no way to see that it will get fixed.

I do know that some ppl in palia-gen will make comments tho about how it should be worked faster and demand in that sense, but, I can at least say for ppl here in discussions, it genuinely is from a constructive feedback format & wishing the best for the game and community.

To be fair, I think many people read tone in text that isn't there. It's why I started using tone indicators in some messages if I think people will add some tone onto it that doesn't exist. Some people take critic of something they like as a personal attack. We don't have configs for every possibility. Obviously we can write new code at any time but I don't think that's what you're suggesting.

I'll be honest enough to say I am not experienced and skilled enough to find the ideal solution, but something should be added for the future here. I.e., GAS checking it's "currency" (ammo) use against a server-hosted blacklist, or something of the kind. It'd probably be better with a more global solution than just GAS blacklist as that would only affect specific abilities, but you get the point. Something needs to be done to be able to rapidly respond to bad things like this in the future.

I do hope though that, even if I think it is far too late, that this is the first step on the road towards S6 putting things right again. Yeah, I talk about wanting outfits a lot, but I decided from like... the 2nd week onwards, after the palcats/AMA that I would not buy another cosmetic until they offered F2P some earnable options.
To me, it's not about wanting things "for free", but more along the lines of like... just having earnable rewards that make the game actually feel rewarding to play

A lot has happened since then though, the whole "beta" thing, and then the lack of accessibility became more and more concerning, etc

For me, a lot of it is just the fact that accessibility concerns rarely get acknowledged or mentioned. There's been other instances, I believe, but honestly my brain is mush after these past few days.

Vega is one of the few people that I've[and others ofc] properly sat down with [in discussions] to talk about accessibily, in hopes for improvements when it comes to the Temples and Progressing the story. There has been some improvement with that, so I'll at least acknowledge that and appreciate it.

But there has been a lot of basic concerns that we have asked for since closed beta, and potentially even Alpha. Chat scaling, Brightness/Contrast sliders [NOT Gamma, because this does NOT work for everyone], Invididual Audio sliders [to help with like, Waterfall sounds vs Forageable sounds, for example]. There's been a handful of others, but those are at least some of the basic ones, that def should of been addressed earlier on.

There might still be a pin up in #♿│accessibility-discussions where someone, an ex-shepp, was kind enough to make a list of requests, workarounds, etc. I appreciate that ex-shepp very much as a whole, and will always be grateful for their help. But that should at least showcase some of the things we have tried to request.

And a huge other part is just the fact that skills, they are required and not optional in this game, unofrtunately. So the fact that we are locked out of finishing bundles, if we [can't] do a specific skill, makes this really troublesome and just a not pleasant experience. Fishing is one of the major ones when it comes to this.

Yeah, it's definitely a big thing where like... No matter how much feedback is given regarding accessibility and the difficulties people have been having, they've been silent on it, and on top of that keep adding even flashier things for example. The snowballs are the worst of it but they keep trying to one up themselves with how shiny and sparkly and flashy they can make things which is dangerous for some and plain ol uncomfortable/overwhelming for others

They've made at least one improvement (as Valk mentioned, after we discussed things with a narrative staff person here, an upcoming temple had a skip feature because a lot of people were struggling with things. Like the Gales temple making people dizzy. that's around when I quit) but still have a LONG ways to go

and absolutely need to up the communication, swear to do better, and deliver on those promises

The best way I can describe how changing settings to low can actually make things worse is basically.... actually I'm going to post an image to explain what I might struggle to describe with words:
If someone changes the VFX setting from high, to low, they would expect the red circle to be made fainter, or smaller. This is how it works in most games, after all.
But for some reason the "low" setting just seems to make the visual effect lower quality, rather than actually reducing the brightness/visibility of the effect. And as a result it winds up looking larger/flashier on lower settings than on higher settings.

A problem or not, I wish the developers understand how much this game means to me. It has drastically reduced my time in Instagram (which has been the main cause to my anxiety and for feelings being not happy in my body and mind). This year I have played Palia for 1600 + hours in total. I have made new friends and I have a feeling of belonging. I'm a creative person and I feel like I can express myself here, and also have fun meanwhile. I've learned from others and teached others. It really has been fulfilling experience so far. I really hope they can manage to keep the game going and growing.

Not just the game itself, but the community. Chatting with people in game, chatting with them here and feeling a sense of connection and as you say, belonging. I really, really enjoy helping others as it's what I did in my job in a not-for-profit organisation, so supporting others on here to answer their questions to simply helping cut a flow tree down, Palia ticks so many boxes for me in terms of calm, peaceful play when life feels overwhelming, to being creative when I'm confined to lack of movement, to connecting with people.
