the problem i have with hoping that: yeah sure its a new map, that means new bugs, new fish, new huntables, new foragables.
But in the end, the same we already have just with different textures/models and maybe MAYBE some small different behaviors.

it will take players a few days, maybe weeks to collect the stuff.

just a new map with all the stuff a map has, wont be enough to solve the content demand for long.

hell, i was too lazy to get all of the stared fish since beta release.
grinded all of them in maybe a week.

a few new star fishes aren't taking long to get.. only if they make it way harder to catch, but that would mean it would be even harder to obtain as soon as you have any accessibility needs.

never understood that. even if they want to add new stuff there, most of their players will just get the reward without doing anything. That means skill level rewards are basically dead or for every 100 levels, which will be insanely grindy for new players.

Farming is such a forgotten skill by this point. They took away the speed growth boost (without having to spend medals to get it) and haven't introduced new crops since Lunar Market.

instead of buffing mining, bug catching, fishing they nerfed it - while the damage was already done. if you want to call it damage. who cares if some players stockpiled some money.

Sadly there's entitlement on both sides. Players don't need to call out every single node, but players should also respect when others are waiting on chopping a grove.
Same with spampot, people can play the way they want, but they shouldn't bully others for it.

hello! first of all, ive really been enjoying playing Palia. i love every aspect of the gameplay but i'd rather not be hunting. i'm lvl 4-7 in other skills while hunting is still on lvl 1 (i only did the very first quest). i've figured that i can easily buy all the items that drop from hunting creatures, but i am still worrying i'm missing on a big portion of the storyline or exclusive loot.
so basically my question is: is the game going to be unplayable at some point without me leveling up in hunting and/or am i missing on important missions/loot?

Some quests require the drops from magic animals, like the proudhorn sernuk antlers. But you can hunt with someone in a party to get these

It's definitely possible to avoid hunting. Unlike, say, fishing, since you need fish for the bundles

As well as what rogue says there's also skill guild stores. Not hunting means you won't gain gold medals to spend on gold shop items.

Why would that be a problem? The money is only really useful for decoration, in every game there's always bound to be players with more gold than others

Specially in late game where all you can spend money on is buildings, furniture, etc

Re: Economy, even though it really doesn't matter who has more gold since there's basically nothing to sink it on in this game, this is why we just need straight up item for item bartering.

If I have an Epic bug I should be able to trade it for someone else's Epic fish. Maybe even three rares for an Epic or something too. Or hell just make it similarly equal values.

I'm dying for a few flow trees on my plot! Is there any other way to get the seeds other than continuing to chop as many flow trees as possible? I can't request it from someone since I never found one myself, but can I collect a samara or pinecone from a mature flow tree on someone else's plot or something? With their participation/permission, obviously... Just wondering how to make this happen

You don't get the seeds from flow trees that way. You get it by completing the temple of roots bundle (and i believe a quest or two after that..?). You'll end up with a statue that'll help produce seeds for you. I don't fully know 100% how it works, cuz I don't have it myself. I'm sure someone here or in maybe #🤝│game-help can answer that better than I lol

Yeah sadly the temple of the roots is the only way to get flow seeds other than already having gotten them and requesting. It's quite lame.

@hushed iron yeah like Valk explained you need to complete the Temple of Roots bundles (which is the easiest one to complete tbh) and finish the Gardeners Oneness quest in order to receive them from the Galdur Statue. But even then, its not guaranteed you'll get them everytime, though there is a very time consuming trick to do so.

If you ever play check out the Steam discussions for it, they published the mod there. Fixes a lot of broken puzzles and makes stuff actually stay solved permanently so there's actual progression and you can eventually 100% it lol

There's unfortunately no way to increase the odds of fishing up the recipe, but there IS a way to conserve bait so that you don't use any until you actually see the recipe. Would that help you any?

One thing I'd personally take into consideration would be: "how well can you pair this with the default outfits? how much do you like the color options available?"
Most premium outfits only offer 3 color options per variant, and that alone is a huge deal breaker for me, especially when none of them actually look good with any of the default options

Which is also kind of why the total lack of earnable clothing is a problem too, a $30 outfit isn't all that appealing when you can't even mix and match it with anything unless you spend another $30 to get another outfit in a similar color palette... (assuming one even exists that matches well)

i wish they would let us at least earn the palia coins in game, especially for those who can't buy the premium outfits for whatever reasons. the economy in the usa right now isn't the greatest, dropping 30usd for in game cosmetics isn't viable for everyone.

i still think that the best way to earn them would be through the guild stores. each of the guild leaders can buy their respective items from you and nothing else. so why can't you decide how you want to sell your items? for example - you just went on a massive fishing spree in the underground and caught a whole bunch of normal quality albino eels. now you have a choice: you can sell those normal eels in your bin or at the general store for 50g an eel or you can go to einar and sell them to his shop for 25c (palia coins) per eel. do you need the gold more than the cosmetic that's "always" going to be there or do you want to get that new room to your house to continue decorating? i feel like this would be more than acceptable for players to earn the palia coins to buy in the premium shop. it might even be even more beneficial as someone who mostly plays f2p might get close to the goal of the outfit that they want, and may open their wallet to buy the last bit of coins needed to get it

I believe you don’t get additional renown after max leveling for villagers. There is an achievement for NPC gift giving & weekly gifts though. If you haven’t reached that, you can still earn renown from that.

& side note- every item you gift to another player in game, you get 1+ renown

Hey can someone explain these "cake parties". Would I be able to keep a few cakes myself or just the host? I'm not yet level 9 to be able to unlock the receipt so I was just curious

Each person brings ingredients to fill a specific role (leafer, batter, froster, Baker, spreader), and each participant gets 3 cakes per round. You need the recipe to start it but not to participate in a cake party hosted by someone else.

Only the person who starts the dish needs the recipe.

So after an x amount of rounds, you'll have 3x the amount of cakes (ie. If you do 60 rounds, you'll have 180 cakes total).

And you need to bring the amount of ingredients for the number of rounds you're doing, except for bakers and spreaders, which are free roles and don't require ingredients.

Then when 3am ticks keep doing the same thing except catch the butterflies instead of moths until 6pm.

Yeah I joined a 60x poke bowl party for the first time the other day and they used rare fish and two dari cloves and in an hour made about 160k. I was floored lol

Cooking parties are the "fastest" way to make money, depending on the type of party, number of rounds and ingredients. Sashimi and poke bowls are currently the most profitable I think and usually go pretty fast. You can check #1293328732093677619, he often hosts sashimi parties and we make pretty good profit!

In the case of sashimi and I think poke bowls the profit depends a lot on the type of fish used, so most parties will be using epic starred fish, you can join an overprep role and it's pretty good profit.

I'd recommend it if you want to make money fast and don't have a lot of time/will for grinding.

Well, levels are meaningless for the most part. I think the only one that does anything for you past level 10 is gardening.

well I guess the idea I had up there was more like fleshing out that concept, I'm glad there's people making lil events with the wardrobe/owning outfits but I could see an event like that being way more fun as a mini-game/hosted possibly/custom prompts/and the ability to walk around/emote/maybe choose backgrounds to show off the outfit you've come up with for the prompt - there's more life to that than making an outfit in wardrobe but like the others pointed out maybe there's not enough incentive to give players access to premium shop outfits that way - although I really could see that as a way for people to buy more by actually finding an outfit they like through a mini-game like that and walking around in it

Love Nikki has a similar concept, a prompt is given weekly, players submit their outfits and are available for others to vote, and rewards are given based on placement. I don't think the idea is letting people walk around in outfits, but have an instance sort of game where you can.
Its just a fun suggestion we know S6 would never implement after all.

Just putting two-cents in to add to the idea. Jel and Tish hold a runway event when their shop is closed in Jel's store's basement. Players can sign up to be a part of the show but there has been a mix-up in the schedule and players have been randomly assigned to either walk the runway or judge. From there, players who have been put on the runway team have 2 minutes to put together an outfit they like from ANYTHING in the premium store. Then each contestant gets a short cutscene of them walking the runway and in that time the players who are judges can leave reactions similarly to how housing tours work. At the end, players and judges will get a base amount of cosmetic tokens + more based on how many votes they got/whether the player they voted for won. Cosmetic tokens can be used to purchase either exclusive outfits OR exchanged for a small amount of Palia Coins. Also, players names are kept anonymous to make things fair.

So she was afk and I was playing elden ring and outta nowhere this small orange colored griffin like animal with white feathered tips came from the ridge she was on. Likely not, since it's purely cosmetic and doesn't change gameplay at all. In games where premium content changes gameplay (like with powerups and such) I think they kinda have to make it at least a tiny bit obtainable in game, but when it's just cosmetic outfits it's just how it is. I hope that one day they'll include a few less flashy outfits that they'll sell for in game gold for people who can't afford premium coins

I feel like another problem would be how u get anything that feels rewarding.
Except of some new questline, adding a reward to any existing mechanic means most players just get it automatically without doing anything.
And tbh. imo another questline which sends you to some random location in bahari or tells u to cook whatever gets boring too.

100% this there are many routes they could go to create easy, simple, free outfits for players due to the renown and guild coins and they could even add a bonus to in game currency only cosmetic items. A fishing hat for example, a apron for cooking or even a hat there too... Overalls for garden or furniture making.... They could be in game for renown or guild coins since there's nothing to use them on after a certain point and they could reuse assets they already have since the character models will probably never have the option to be different

Home tours goals/accomplishments, leveling up skills, and specific side quests would be easier to create earnable cosmetics for. Name plates were a nice step in that direction I think. I know a lot of players have been asking about free cosmetics for a while, and even if it's not now, the future of the game still holds potential for earnable cosmetics to be a feature.

Skilllevels are dead at this point. People play since over a year, a lot of players would just get it without doing anything.
Well sidequests would be fine ig, but with the limited amount of things to do, they would be the same thing over and over again.

Personally I have not spoken to the NPC's in over a month because of my computer locking up so much. My files were so corrupted had to send it in for repair. And before all the suggestions, I did do all the things mentioned to help my computer run smoother in Palia. The game is resource intensive.

Eh... I just assume at the end of the day that S6 was like "Let's make all these super lofty goals because we want to make the most awesome game ever!" then at some point they went "Oh no! We actually need money to meet all these lofty goals. I guess we have to simplify some of this content." which turned into "Oh no, we're burning through money. We're going to have to cut some people from the team to continue development on our goals.", etc. etc. and now here we are.

Still, compared to when it first came out and how it is now, it improved so so much. Just want them to keep going in the right direction. Some free versions of things in the game as goals to work toward would be nice, not just trophies. Outfits/pets for example. Maybe in themes according to profession/friendship, ect. Save all the fancy stuff for the shops but something cool a a free obtainable for those who love the game but can't financially support it.

Might just be my bias from my own personal experience from the game, but the last few updates have been lukewarm to me. Maji Market update was the best thing we've had in a long time and that's just repeating recycled content. Making hot pot tied to the pirate furniture was an absolutely awful idea. I haven't gotten to try trading yet but I heard that has its own issues; though it's nice players can trade plushies at all now. Building blocks was a great update. Temple of the earth was ok just for the vault reward but otherwise just felt like "We made a lot of people angry with the temple of the gales, let's keep this one simple."

At one point I was just sitting in my house, and thinking to myself "I have all this amazing furniture I spent hours and hours getting; but none of it is interactible or does anything. All my friendship quests are maxed, but I don't get any additional benefit from them other than a few cosmetics." which felt really bad.

You would think that at max level friendship and level 50 (Basically a master) in every skill, you would be a pillar of the Kilima community. There should be opportunities for you to do some kind of favors or contracts for villagers like catching bugs for Auni, or cooking meals for Reth, or building furniture to Tish. But there's none of that. Once you've solved all of Kilima villages problems, the whole village just goes on existing. Nothing ever changing with no new opportunities for the players or villagers to develop. It all starts to feel soulless after some time.

"why is the entire gameplay loop about decorating a house that no one but me will see?"
none of your actual achievements are something that can be shown off to other players in the actual world, aside from the "I begged for upvotes" nameplates

I thought having even a single hot pot station in your house would have been amazing for having players over, since cake parties and flow tree parties are literally the only other 2 things that attract other players to your house and people are afraid of committing multiple hours to a cake party. We could have had more arcade games, a version of the balloon shooting activity from maji market or a chapaa chase pen in your house. IDK. Something?

Why is my housing plot a cake, and all of the furniture fondant? Where is the flavor?

Potato pods and plushies are the most frustrating crutch I have ever seen used in a video game. It shows that S6 is truly afraid to take risks or listen to player feedback when there are so many amazing suggestions, and all we can seem to get from them is "Here is another round of JPEG Potato dude, but with sunglasses and an umbrella this time!" It's a slap in the face to players who want tangible content.

I was talking smack about Brighter Shores yesterday. But you know what Andrew Gower and his 8 dev team did that S6 didn't? He acknowledged player frustrations on Day 1 of release and released a statement about it asking players to give their game a chance and that they'd make changes if necessary to accomodate the players. Brighter Shores did more in 1 day for its community than S6 has done in 3 years.

Too many half-baked systems in the game too. Cooking itself is a great activity, but food might as well be wax fruit because all it does is sit on your table and look pretty. Focus is a terrible mechanic because most players don't even bother with it. For some reason we have fishing buffs from some food, but S6 couldn't program food buffs for other skills as well which would have given 95% of food a purpose.

Yep. There are so many plushies and pods that they don't fit on a single plot now without not being able to place down rooms. It's embarrassing how we can't even make the most out of what's supposed to be the "endgame" of Palia.

I had to float trick all of my giant plushies on top of my house because you can't even place them in a room without it feeling claustrophobic.

It genuinely feels like S6 put this game on life support after being acquired by Daybreak games. Then every once in a while they'll put in what should have been a QoL update in ANY other game and say "This is our biggest update yet!"

I started playing over a year ago and then stopped when I got to the Temple of the roots (for life reasons nt the game) and when I cam back I had heard about all these updates and new things but it feels like they have SO many more problems than solutions or really good new content. The Maji Market was honestly underwhelming to me. The decorating mechanics and recoloring furniture is just not it for me. I really hope the next big patch fixes a lot of things.

Well, I really wish that they would work on things such as this - things that bring additional depth to the game. I'm not against having a market, or purchasable cosmetics, but there has been no real gameplay development in the last while that brings us any closer to the advertisements and functions that were promised. And there has been no development with any stories that address the lack of rain if thats the case. No NPC's talk about being in a drought or anything like that. I just hope that since they've downsized, they've not decided to stop game dev/qol progress.

Note that better hardware doesn't always mean 'problem free with every game.' There's been plenty of cases where we've been able to run games just fine on our 10 year old low level PC that much better PCs kept crashing on.

Okay we think we're underestimating the size of this game then. The main town right outside your plot is one of those places yeah? Unless that area is specifically Palia, in which case we been thinking that the entire land mass is Palia.

Palia is the world at large. Kilima and Kilima Valley are the starting areas, and Bahari Bay is the only other zone.

I think Palia laid off the good coders. At one point it seemed they were trying to improve performance and it was evident. Now performance is rapidly declining no matter your settings. Seems the most important things in the game now is the purchases in the store and plushies which have become so abundant it makes them no longer special. No actual quests or fixes will be their downfall sadly.

Apologies for the ping, but I came to this server and used the search bar for "Motion Sickness" to see if others had a solution to the insufferable headaches and nausea that ONLY Palia causes me. Many people asking but no one had a good list of solid suggestions. Mostly just telling people to turn on the persistent reticle option which unfortunately didn't help me. So, I did a deep dive on Reddit and in game settings to create a bulleted list of changes that have fixed my problem! I'll post it here.

"Reduce Motion Sickness" in game settings:
• In "Gameplay Settings" turn off Allow Camera Shake and you can also try enabling Persistent Center Reticle.
• In "Graphics Settings" change Anti-Aliasing Method from TAA to FXAA and Post Process settings to Low.
• Then, click the "Advanced" tab in Graphics Settings and increase Frame Rate Limit from 60 to 120+ (if your hardware can handle it), change FOV from 90 to 80- (whatever you prefer).
• Finally, in the "Control Settings" drop Camera Sensitivity from 0.5 to 0.3.

I discovered only one way I get less dizziness and that is when I play in a very bright room so since then I play palia with a bright light to reduce the dizziness. my biggest worry (aside from bugs) is that they might fail to make elderwoods actually feel different
if elderwoods fails to actually add any new gameplay and only rehashes what we already have, I feel that it's going to flop even if it does launch bug-free

that is to say, if elderwoods is added and the entire endgame can still be summed up entirely with "fill your plot with collectables with awful RNG drop rates" it's not going to go over well

well that wont be enough, its "just" a new map.
a few new fish, bugs, and so on... won't resolve their content issue for long.
it would have to introduce literally new skills / systems, well features, so it doesnt feel like players get content once every 2 years and that content is enough for maybe a few weeks.

But yeah I really think the content loop needs to have a shakeup with the new map to have a chance, especially since it's been so unrewarding thus far.

It's funny, my first comment was "it would be nice is Palia was a single player, but with community based mmo-like features." Then I was hold up, it already is and wrote my above comment instead. Lol

That it is. I tried really hard in my feedback throughout early tests to give suggestions to make the game more multiplayer, but they either don't have the know-how, time, or interest to really do it.

Would have been neat to have different classes people could specialize in. If you want to form a mining party, maybe you want to find a Prospector who can track ore locations around the map, an Excavator who increases the yield for the party, and a Sapper who increases the damage the party does to nodes.

None of those are 100% necessary and you can still play solo if you want, but it REWARDS partying and gives people incentives to mix and match with different people.

Everyone could even freely switch between the roles if they wanted honestly.

But then have simple little skill trees for each of the roles so people can either spread out their points or specialize in certain ones.

Prospector for example might have a skill that they need to put points into to increase the tracking distance for each TYPE of node and skills that increase the party's movement speed when moving towards or around nodes.

That's exactly what I was expecting out of this game. Stuff like that gives you more content to play that isn't really busy work, but fun to progress through. And goals to shoot for over time. As it is right now it feels like a dedicated player and blow through all the content in a month or two

I would love to see Palia's road map.

Honestly I'd love if a company could actually do what we expected Palia to be. I've been keeping an eye on Brighter Shores but the early reviews aren't great and the graphic style doesn't appeal to me at all either

obviously it also needs some game with at least some success to push further. netease is pretty obviously more copying AC than anything else, but each successful push into the right direction could be good.
in the end, all of this will only work if they notice "hey, the direction is good and yields money, but players would like more of X." I mean nobody really knows what the "perfect" middleground would be, sure with the discussions in this channel we know some opinions, but it would be dumb to think we represent most of the players.

I feel like, if I were in a place where I could make choices for the game, the things I personally would want to prioritize are:
Improving social aspects of the game, changing aspects of the game that generate toxicity and friction
and improving variety of earnable rewards so that the game can feel rewarding to people who aren't decor enthusiasts too

also QoL for monetization-related stuff (allowing purchase of individual outfit pieces, enabling previews for landscapes, etc)
also just implementing an actual dye system so you can color outfits exactly how you like instead of selling preset color combinations >>

I think it would be amazing if S6 would add the wall paper color palette into the modification bench. It's probably not a super simple process. That would be fantastic though. My daughter mentioned this to me yesterday and I agree that would give so much more variety to modifying the furniture.

well I spent the past 5-6 hrs trudging from 340ish/1000 balloons to just 700/1000 for the goal

the only spawns I'm aware of that can break are the chapaas during Chapaa chase, which requires the entire lobby to exit then re-enter

I finally completed all the achievements in my Maji Market ticket book and It sorta surprised me. I didn't really think it could be done before they pulled some type of reset.
At least... I hope there will be a reset of some type, at some point. Otherwise, the Maji Market is going to become so stale that there will come a time when no one is going to want to do it.
There needs to be something along the line of a seasonal reset, 3 or 4 times a year, where at least some of the items swap out for new and then come back again in a different mix. I really enjoyed the Lunar New Year Maji and hope to see something like that again. As for the current market, I'm pretty much done with it. It began to get a little stale long before I had the ticket book completed.

If I could get anything I want in game -

A way for f2p people to earn Palia coins. If game hours are what the devs need to profit, this is a surefire way to get people to spend way more time playing. Way more.

I want animal husbandry. Chickens specifically, give me chickens.

I want to release bugs on our plots and let them live on our plots as they would in the zones. I want to have a huge aquarium for my fish to swim around, animal crossing did that part so right.

Plain cosmetics you can buy with gold. I've purchased coins, but another "whale" summed it up perfectly - give the free people good perks too or they won't want to play and we have no one to show off our premium things to. Give a choice of palcat as a side quest reward.

Honestly, I'm very content with Palia. This scratches about all of my itches and has everything I love in a game. I'm a slow player though, just restarted actually but even then I hadn't completed the fish bundles yet or done a single temple. I'm slow to do quests because I've been enjoying everything else. Palia has so much potential and I'll be really sad if it dies because finding games I like enough to really settle into isn't easy.
