I have no informations about that. But I guess the team will firstly try to make the Switch version stable before trying to make it compatible to MacOS. Moreover since the compiling and modifications seem to me to be easier to do from the Switch's FreeBSD version to the MacOS rather than from the Windows version. But again I'm not in the team so I have no real answer xD

Same. I keep getting one corn, or one blue mushroom. Zero recipes dropping. My switch crashes a lot too. It’s hard to do house tours when you wind up in a falling void, freeze and can’t even walk through a plot, or just crash to the main switch screen.

double checked all outfits, all have some type of effect/gimmick that "justifies" (in terms of Palia pricing, still expensive of course ) the pricetag
the only one someone could argue about is the soothsayer one which only has a glow effect, but its one of their bestsellers so yeah
I don't see them lowering the prices (even if we'd think they should), thats not how things work in those type of premium stores (especially bcs they are heavily influenced by riotgames premiumstore practices anyways)
but sales are possible, they already had a sale for the sky captain one for obvious reasons, not the best outfit in their catalogue

I don't see a reason for them to increase the prices for the visual effect only outfits for the future, the early ones just explored what is possible and what players are interested in
(my fav exploration they did was for the fungi forager which features aren't shown at all in the shoppreview, it comes with a small effect where u lose some mushrooms out of the basket while walking + whenever u pick up an actual mushroom a small gliding mushroom spawns besides u)

but they will very likely offer more of the 3400 "outfit + custom glider" outfits in the future which are technically already more expensive but also justified, again in terms of their usual pricing

Oh good! So it's not just me 😅 This beautiful game just needs some more rpg elements and immersion. I'm sure they have lots in store though s oI'm not too worried. Can't wait to see where we are in a year or two.
I don't mind that there is no combat, it's actually very nice that there isn't. So many games focus on the combat element.

I think I've nailed down what's causing the crashing for me. It's fast travelling and moving between Kilima and Bahari Bay. I often crash on the loading screen. So I guess it's time for another break from this game until this gets fixed.

Also they did say, there will be no combat in the sorts that we will get attacked back.

Maybe they could later of the games life add a instanced area where you can go solo or with friends to solve puzzles or do a activity together or solo where the reward is resources. They have used puzzle aspects in the temples and let's be honest here there are alot of puzzle/mini game options they are missing out on. Nothing over the top as terms of rewards so people don't feel forced but just enough that if you want to go with friends or alone in place of mindless grind

Honestly shocked they never added a mini game involving helping at the farm, could increase garden and bug catching skill by helping badruus crops. Or a fetch quest for the omruus like bring water and food, wash and brush but dunno what skill that could be relevant to

But the rewards could be keep the bugs you've kept off the crops and a few seeds. Or for the ormuu furs and meats

But I'm glad to see with the dev blog they have listened and are trying to work on ideas and concepts players have been asking for. Like the party feature, when it works, is great it encourages people to get together and makes the grind more fun but expanding on that for those who enjoy group content and giving other options without being unfair is a hard thing to balance out

If they added say a instanced group or solo objective trying to please both sides would be hard, like maybe as a group it might go faster but solo players wouldn't be happy since they need to invest more time it's a lose lose situation that unfortunately s6 needs to find balance for. Most games just use a scaling method to try even it out or the solo players know that eh it'll take a extra minute or so. But they wouldn't be able to change the reward outcome based off time or performance... It just loops into chaos

Nah, they just need to learn phasing system. Basically only one person can do the quest, but if you want a friend to help you he can come along on your quest and he will see wat you see, despite the fact that you already finished your quest. Basically you go into his saved instance, not your own.
If someone needs help in a dungeon we should be allowed yo load in the "party leader's" instance to help him out. But we can't pick his eggs or do the puzzle for him, he still has to do that on his own.

This Tish quest ||that requires a ruby is actually gonna be the death of me. I've gone from level 38 to 46 mining mainly palium and not a single ruby, and only 2-3 amethysts.|| I get they need to slow down progression of quests n stuff so they can have more time before releasing more quests, but locking this one behind ||the rarest starstone found in a rock that's the rarest to find and seems like EVERYONE is mining for||. With my plot done, and finished most acheivements, I don't have much else to do. Quests were my main source of fun in the game, and this isn't it.

What do you mean by "lots of gold?" You cannot see who has what amount of gold on tours unless you're watching someone stream their personal account or unless you mean the decor that's piles of gold coins, which is buyable from zekis underground register perhaps?

This game is in beta, yes, but it's been around and in development/having active players for multiple years. There's been lots of time for people to get really far in this game.

I mean the gold floors and crates and such. I know they are 750 gold each. So perhaps I know it IS possible but I don't see how they didn't spend a fortune on it. Some of the stuff I've seen in some of these tours makes me envious. I hate that I missed out on some of that stuff just because I never knew about the game until this year lol.

Ah yeah, well they recently upped the gold limit too so people have more coin stashed away than ever, plus with how much people mine, fish, and hunt- all good ways to make money- and having lots of cooking parties as someone else mentioned is certainly a way to make and "store" money as you can 1) place gold star food on plots to free up storage and basically make a "bank" for selling off as you need 2) dump the cakes into worm farms. But on your final note, we do have hope that most things will come around again, like markets and such. But your feelings are valid for sure!

I've understood it as "we look at this, and if we see many people at/reaching level 4 we know there are many people who'll want a level 5 so it'll rise in priority. Therefore, the best way how you can help with getting level 5 quests is by reaching the level 4 with all the characters you want level 5 with".

Kind of as in "25% of players will see an addition to, let's say, Subira right now, but only 15% are at level 4 with Tamala so will see an addition to her right now. So we'll do Subira first. Oh, and there are 35% of the players that did the strange things afoot main quest, we'll do that even earlier".

what i can say re: friendship and romance questlines is that "1-5" is considered one "arc" of a character's personal story. what i can't say is how many arcs there can/will be. but we are indeed a live service game and i've got pages and pages of ideas and outlines for everyone. i have a number in my head but i will not say that number YOU CAN'T MAKE ME!!

as for the main story we have an outline for that which goes like... 6+ years out.

and that of course doesn't include all the other quests/story content. new chats, discovery quests, other features we haven't even started to implement yet, etc.

on the other hand, quest design simply takes time, and it's not something you can necessarily just throw 20 extra people on to make it go faster. because we're messing with player data, quests have the ability to completely brick someone's account if i mess up on that data entry. obviously we have validations and QA, but i take extra time and care and things still slip through because of the endless edge cases. with the amt of quests we already have in game, there are an infinite amount of player data states already, and so a nearly infinite amount of ways that data can conflict.

this is one of the unique features of making a more "open world" quest design as opposed to a very very linear game where the sidequests are unlocked at specific moments. any player could be at varying states with any of our many villagers, plus anywhere along the main story route, PLUS anywhere along their skills levels and inventory state...

yeah i love talking about open world quest design because it is so unique within the design space and has a lot of considerations that you don't need to really worry about as much with linear quest designs. a straight forward single player JRPG where every quest is chained one after the other that doesn't consider endless outside quest factors is just... much simpler. and of course we COULD just design the main story and all the friendship quests to ignore outside factors but we want palia to feel reactive and alive. if you're on fire temple, hassian CAN'T still be mean to you if you've leveled his friendship.

we "launched" in beta with all the npcs at FL4 and RL4, with the intention to go up to 5 over time because we wanted five to be MORE reactive and have a higher production quality. and because it was the culmination of an arc, we just wanted to take more care and time with implementing it to make it feel satisfying.

to get a good sense of what palia's dialogues/quest design look like on the back end, for a character like hodari or hassian, each version of his dialogue for most parts of a quest involving them will in fact have 3-4 versions of them, in order to properly simulate you getting closer to them . and then if we give four dialogue options in response to those 3-4 variations, a lot of THOSE will in fact have 3-4 variations on top.

im narrative designer, i make the words and the quests and a bit of general gameplay design/drops/etc. i know how most of the gameplay systems work and touch them for my things, place things in map, implement tutorials and item descriptions, name cosmetics.... cast VOs and work with the director to record them, uh.... what else is listed on my linked in.... design implementation systems... production support....

but i don't do the C++ and i don't do the Arts and Anims for absolute sure. tho i do work WITH the engineers and artists and animators on the vision and content requests.

engagement involves more than just tracking completion rates! and we never assume something just from a raw number. gifting, chatting, etc are other things that count as engagement! and community sentiment and feedback is also very helpful and adds context to raw data

Focusing more heavily on popular things makes sense on paper, but it shouldn't feel like it comes at the expense of the things that actually need the dev attention most imo

what I'm trying to get at is, oftentimes things are unpopular for a reason.... people shouldn't need to engage with things they dislike if they want to see it updated/improved to be better

good, I'm glad to hear that's being taken into consideration- I've seen what a focus entirely on 'popularity' engagement metrics does to a game, and it's... not-good.

to provide one example.. this one game I played in the past has multiple playable races, all with their own cosmetics. The robot race was getting virtually no cosmetics at all- only one outfit every 3 months. Meanwhile the human race was getting 3 different outfits every 2 weeks. The robot players spoke up and said "hey, what gives? Why aren't we getting any cosmetics?"
The official response was basically "because robots arent popular lol, we focus entirely on feminine human outfits because that's what most people play"
to which the robot-playing playerbase responded "how the hell do you expect the robots to be popular if you aren't giving them any cosmetics to enjoy???"

Been playing for a bit and had some ideas for minor changes in the game
-A filter option for storage like furniture theme and rarity of items
-Different item display option for crafting instead of the description taking up half of the crafting screen it displays a longer list with little pop up bubbles for description so don't have to scroll down so much every time to find a certain item to craft
-A option in the relationship menu to pick to pin where character is since the map searching can be a little awkward (especially on switch)
-an option to remove the map marker guide box just mainly a visual annoyance to me
-a little information menu so it's easier to look up previously caught fish, bugs, and items to figure out where to get them
Just thought these would be some changes that would make the game play a little smoother 🙂

No, you can date all the romantic interests at once and the only thing some might mention is that they noticed you're dating someone else. But you can only wear two pins at once, which also don't do much really and can be interchanged. Also, in order to actually break up, you have to manually go into the relationships menu and click the ⚙️ settings to break up with them!

Pins are just symbols of "officially" dating someone, they're associated with quests to collect the materials you need for each pin, it doesn't matter the order so you do you!

the bug is btw not on the feminine bodytype but on the masculine one (which they will hopefully not fix but instead add to the feminine one as well as a feature, bcs the bug is a major qol thing on the masuline one, hunting felt horrible on the feminine one when I tried it)

• the time to aim and then shoot is the same, but u can launch ur arrow faster on the masculine one for whatever reason, so u can cancel ur shooting (on the femine one u need to draw ur bow completely before u are able to shoot)

As consumers we have no idea what goes on behind closed doors. He may be getting a royalty for all we know. Why wouldn't he want advertisement on what he brought to Palia? Layoffs are a fact of life in any industry. I assume that he received compensation for his work on Palia. There simply may not have been enough work to justify keeping a composer on staff. Layoffs are just a terrible fact of life in the gaming industry. Christmas firings are super common in order to make Q4 profits look way bigger. Whole teams get axed when a project is finished. It’s not an excuse for S6, but anyone who’s been in the industry’s for any length of time has likley been through more then two or three rounds of layoffs.

My partner has had whole projects axed and never got to show her finished work for those projects off which was always the worst feeling. At least the effort that went into making the video got to see the light of day.

What kind of light? For wall lamps, homestead (warm) or industrial (cool), for ceiling sunrise valley (warm), kilima lanterns, and industrial chandeliers (cool), also for spotlights the ravenwood spotlights are great but are purple toned lighting. For table lamps I love capital chic table lamps (small placement zone, great for floor lighting/hidden in flowers/behind things), and homestead lamps (can be color modded!)

I agree. Save your guild coins so you can get the guild items. Later in the game when you need to lower your guild coins they cap at 2000 then you can buy gold, silver and palium bars.

These are the nameplates that we've had so far for reactions on your own home tour plot. Then there's the coffee/tea nameplate that you unlock by visiting other tours on the board. And finally, you can keep touring for tickets (there's 3 accomplishments for tickets, weekly and one total all the way down at the bottom) and buy the nameplates in the store on the tour board for 100 tickets each.

Not everyone has discord or uses it so they may not even know that people usually wait to see if more are coming. Also S6 has said that people can play the game how they want and that includes chopping the flow grove. I know it's not ideal and it's really nice but it's not required. Calling ores out isn't required either. Players just started doing it. Of course all those things are nice to do but not part of the game mechanic.

Waiting until 3AM was something players came up with, then everyone just rolled with it. I’m someone that calls the flow groves out when I find them/if no one else called it. I’ll follow up with “Is anyone else on their way?,” if everyone seems to be there. If no one responds for a while, many people will take that as a “we’re good to chop,” even when that’s before 3. When it’s obvious that no one else is coming, and it’s 01:48 in game, there’s no point waiting until 03:00.

I can’t speak for everyone, but I’m fortunate that I haven’t really stumbled on folks chopping down groves and not calling it. Also, many of us have been playing for so long that we have no need for flow groves, so it could be a lot of newer players doing this. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Like Gabi mentioned, there’s no set way to play the game, and some players genuinely don’t know the “etiquette” that folks have established.

With the update that allowed other players to mine stone, palium, iron, copper, even after you’ve mined it, most people stopped calling out palium ores. I’ll always flare it, but I don’t always call it out because I don’t always feel like talking.

A lot of the time that goes into the game is decorating, by using those sources on decor and keeping them in chest makes it easier to save up some space. I do the same with everything else, keep the ones that i´ll be using, sell the others or make furniture out of it. Like gardening and fishing always gets cooked and sold, cake parties or food parties is a great way to get a very good amount of food and money and also use your stuff to make some more space

Lots of people have this problem especially at the beginning, not knowing what to sell or keep. Once you get the hang of it, it gets more easier to save up some space but I totally get you, we could have more storage so we don´t need to go empty bags every 10min when playing with friends

You can't place your own stuff on a friend's plot either even if you have editor

A reminder, though, anyone with editor permissions CAN chop trees and move items (anything placed down) around on your plot. If you do give someone editor permissions, make sure it’s someone you know and trust.

And as @hexed cloak mentioned, editors can’t place their own items down from their inventory, but if you have a table set down, an editor could move that table around.

Also, if you have many in game friends that frequently come to your plot, you can always lock it down so no one, aside from NPCs, can visit. That way if you’re not feeling social or you want your plot to be a surprise until it’s done, it stops people from coming over.

Truthfully, I don’t have that issue, so the few times someone has come over unannounced, I truly don’t care. The few times where I’ve been hyper focused on decorating, I’ve locked my plot so I wouldn’t get interrupted by chance.

Ah, gotcha. I did this concept with the Capital Chic wall cabinet and the bookcase with the semi circle opening.

Homestead furniture isn’t really my style, and the dyes don’t look right with my Moonstruck, Ravenwood, Investigator decor.

If it was a much darker brown or the same “black” as Ravenwood, I’d enjoy it.

Here's the merge I was thinking of- the issue now will likely be that you will need to remove the books and the shelves and start with the dresser then merge the shelf in (I actually don't merge or glitch so this was from quite a while back- the mechanics might be different but that's what this person mentioned was a pain with this merge specifically)

All plants give different buffs to their neighbours and if you plant them in a clever way you can get a nice layout.
I personally use a 100% water retain and 100% weed prevention so I only have to harvest, plant and water once.

Hey, hopefully this is the best place to put this - I was just wondering, is there anyway to "restart" essentially? I get overwhelmed when I come back to a game after a while all the updates have changed a moderate amount of things, so I like to just restart or make a new character but with Palia I've also put money into the game and don't want to lose my cosmetics or have gotten twitch drops/event rewards so I don't want to create a whole new account or anything - just wipe my progress. The updates haven't changed a lot of things, mostly just added things. I think it's ok to just continue your current character, read your quests and rekindle with the NPC's. And rediscover the world and all the new things thay were added.

I'm really hoping that the acquisition will help noticeably with updates after a certain point. Ideally, it would mean S6 is getting more hands on deck soon, which they desperately need. Idk how it works. Maybe S6 has to hire through daybreak now? Or maybe daybreak would shift some of its employees over to palia?

I think decorating is only artificially popular because it's the most fleshed out system.

I even have complaints about that... not enough set diversity (meaning there should be more items in a set). Not enough clutter. Coloring options too limited.

I agree. I mean, I love decorating, but I wouldn't spend so much time on it if there was more to do outside of crafting furniture and gathering resources...to craft furniture

Oh I do agree with this too. The color options are so limited. Like. I don't use any of the other color options cause I kinda feel like most of them are ugly? Or just. Not my style.

It would be nice if we could change the colour scheme of one funiture set to match another. Like I could have the dragontide chaise in capital chic colours.

A museum would be cool, artifact digging as a skill or something with small chances to get them doing other things

I also think it would be really nice to toggle on the lights as an overall option? Because when cooking or decorating, the ceilings are usually so low that I'm constantly turning off/on lights accidentally and it drives me crazy

We need actual complex skills with tons of stuff to do. Imagine if there were multiple cooking activities? Also when is drink making becoming a thing?

The story really lends itself to archeology being a real skill we should/could have in the game! Jina, for one. But a lot of what we do IS find artifacts so it would be cool if there was a bit more to it mechanically.
And BIG BIG agree that I want soooooo many more cozy skills. Making outfits, maybe? Like some more basic-ish things (something more complex than the default clothes, but not quite as detailed as the premium stuff) but we can gather cloth and maybe plants for dyes.
I am also still a BIG supporter of having skill/guild-centric outfits to be unlocked after certain levels or achievements

Oooooo THIS would be really really cool. Like you get to a certain level of cooking or gardening and you get to do some sort of specialty like Gormet Baker or Wine...maybe "Juice" idk lol.

I really like the idea of being able to make some more clothes in game. Obvi nothing premium is available to make in game and vice/versa, but it would be nice to have fashion be more accessible to players who can't afford the extremely extra premium fits. Just. Something in-between the basics and the premium would be really cool

I think the elderwoods would open new quests, but I really don't like how I have to wait forever for the Temple of the Night Sky quest to resolve
(And the "wait for the story to continue" quest will somehow pin itself AFTER I unpin it)

It’s been 5-6 months of that quest just sitting in limbo. Yet, we’ve gotten so much Premium Store updates and added furniture behind RNG. 😒

I know the devs are actively working on raising decor limits, but until they do that, they need to stop adding so much new decor, especially when the price of purchasing new plots is expensive.

This is my main concern with "flower and building block limit increases", without plot limit increases in and of itself isn't that kind of redundant and again, not super great for later game players at limit anyway (especially due to trees)

YES! “Here’s your 1k flowers, but it’s still part of the 3k limit.” Long time players that enjoy decorating are at a standstill. Since there’s nothing else to do in game, we’re left to decorating, but can’t even do that fully because of limits.

Yeah I think they'd be better off fixing other parts of the game and adding more gameplay and waiting to update plot/housing stuff until they can do something really significant

As-is it just feels like they're scrambling to bring more plushies and premium items rather than backing up and seeing what needs to be done for the big picture

SAME! I enjoy it, too, and pretty much any roaming around I do for resources is for furniture making. I’ll catch fish here and there to sell, and keep the epic/legendary ones.
