Then play the game. Money can be made if you play the game. I've purchased millions of gold in Zeki coins. Not a humble brag, just saying buying coins and getting plushies is doable.
that bcs the game just started, players did cake parties, had everything done in 2 weeks, complained about no content and left
It was going for months. Peoplr quit when everything started getting nerfed
The thing I find weird is, you would think with all the combined dev experience working on other MMO's, any of these devs would know how to make more/better gold sinks.
I'll forever maintain that they just needed to limit cooking to a party so it's not getting split more than 4 ways. Don't need to make things expensive to get rid of the gold that was never meant to be that easy!
It kinda was. They reduced prices on a lot of things. I think it was to appease the switch players that thought things were to expensive.
Fair, I guess rebalancing things to make it more appealing without making it busted for economy would be the way to go. Unsure how to imagine appeasing everyone around gardening though, there's too many different sides to the players that go about it
My guess is that the S6 devs thought cake parties would be a good money-maker for a few coordinated players and probably didn't account for the fact that players would find a way to meta-game it so it would be an easy way to make mass-amounts of gold in a short time.
I would say not worry about the economy. Since there is no player economy. If people enjoy gathering wealth, let them. If others enjoy doing other things. Let them. People that will quit becuase they have nothing to spend on are going to quit if you make it to hard to get wealth with nothing to do with it.
But at least people were being a community while doing it.
What is the real goal? A community driven game of coming together or a wealth check simulator
I think cake parties definitely deserve a place in the game. I don't think it should have been the oppressive money-maker that it was and still is today. There should be options for solo players or players who like small groups too.
ppl that quit bcs of the cake party "nerfs" just overexaggerated imo, cake parties were nerfed by what? 20k gold per hour, still the most gold/hr you can get with literally no effort
that's pretty much what they said, but also that 'oh people like it so much so we don't want to get rid of it'
I agree but you shouldnt nerf one to try to force the other
the nerf hit solo players much harder than partiers 😦
I will say, not everybody viewed the cake parties in the community capacity. A lot of ppl did it for the money. But there were people who did make communities and friends doing it.
I was part of one that was actually very welcoming to me. It genuinely felt really nice, and a lot of times, I just hung out there. i didn't actually participate. But it felt nice being around those people and being part of it.
Also, some people quit bc of the nerfs for solo players, and yeah some did bc of the cake parties being overexaggerated that's true-- but also the way the notes about it was worded. It felt offputting and it was one of the reasons I started to slowly back off at the time.
I've spent too much time thinking about Palia, its economy, and the expertise, or lack of it, from S6. I would assume there are game economy specialists? It just seems to me they fell into some predictable money traps right away - or perhaps knew some were in game and assumed they'll get to fix them "soon"
Also, some people who reached "end-game" content, were also casual players (in the sense of rushing money via cake parties). Not everybody of course, but there were a handful of people who did. It wasn't just bc of the cake parties/gold making thing. And not everybody enjoyed or wanted to decorate their plot. I do agree w/ the fact that was still earlier days though, so it was a bit easier to go through the story and stuff imo.
I have a hard time understanding why people how much money others make in a game where ones wealth does not impact another. Prices in game are not dynamic.
THIS! This pretty much sums up how I feel about Palia's life as a whole. "Hey! We introduced this cool thing! Uh oh! It broke/didn't work as intended/created some unforseen problems. Let us redirect you to a new shiny thing we're going to introduce while we kick this can down the road!"
because they set prices based on how much money they think players make. Like that first maji market - so you just keep widening the gap
Ideally, the goal is a balance of giving players sufficient challenge to keep them engaged and giving them just enough to keep going. A proper economy prevents players from quitting too early bc they can get everything too quickly and prevents players from quitting too early because they can't get anything in enough time.
This keeps more players which then allows more community activities to prosper, and keeps them in long enough for new content to come in and engage them.
Except they massively failed in this
omg that was so brutal. I saw those price and felt big FOMO cuz at the time i was struggling w/ gold making. i felt rushed & stressed LOL, and went into overdrive to figure out how to make gold properly in the solo capacity
Also, it's annoying that I just barely missed the maji market when I started playing and I couldn't get the arch? The coolest piece of furniture in the game and now I have to wait indefinitely for the maji market to come back out again because S6 is struggling to have a reasonable game development roadmap?
Why are we here.. just to suffer 😔
When the game launched it was supposed to be content patches every 2 weeks. Then every month to now a balance patch this month. Curious to see how the layoffs will impact things more
Nah because my old lady still loves thr game and i her so..yeah your right..suffering is the answer
every season, then every year? /j
(Also hope youre doing well, Kate! Pleasure to see you! Always nice chatting with you, i cant remember the last time we did here
)
I see so many people talk about how much potential this game has. This game has been in beta or released for a year depending on S6's mood that day. Potential just isn't going to cut it. This game needs to start seeing results like yesterday.
most games are in beta/early access several years tho
but most games have a consistent way to make money
Who at S6 seriously thought that every player who played their game was going to buy a $10-30 outfit from their store out of good will and to support the devs?
How can you, as a dev, walk into a room full of potential investors and when they ask you how you're going to fund development for the game AND return their dividends go "Our game is a F2P model, but players caaaaaaaan buy cosmetics but you get the entire game for free."
Wizardcrab did
(yeah not his best decision, and monetization for the toolskins and new pets will also be heavy overpriced for sure)
I won't lie, I spent money on outifts too because I wanted to support this dev because I thought they were making an ethical game.
same early on - then after the way people were getting treated I stopped
At this point I only see 2 big appeals for this game. 1.) Its community is one of the most wholesome I've ever seen and they've undoubtedly been the reason this game still exists. 2.) It's a good framework/concept for another game.
I spent money on gliders because the outfits werent my aesthetic and months ago i begged for tool skins and kitchen item skins but with the current layoffs and way things are i am really hesitant to spend. Need to see more real stuff come from s6 before i keep saying yeah but the game could be this or that
I stopped after how some of the posts they made (devlogs/patch note related stuff) were worded. It's why i brought up the cake nerf one, cuz the way that one was worded felt really... offputting for me, unfortunately. 😓
I've been hestitant to log-in let alone give them my money. Why spend hours on this game when it could not exist in 1-2 years? I'd just be better off touching grass lol
Same here. And why pay for skins on tools? These are just textures !!
Why be sold on style in a game that has little to no substance?
why purchase skins in any game, they are just pixels
Ehh every game has a shelf life to a degree. Everything in life is a distraction til you die. I guess im just trying to get the maximum experience i can in the time i can.
That's understandable. I think becoming a parent really put into perspective how valuable our time is and how we should take care of ourselves by using it wisely.
Thats cool that you got to experience that kind of life changing event
Seriously. Were they even thinking during that first Maji Market? No wonder people started organizing cake parties and doing them non-stop. We were all brand new players, cake parties were pretty much the only way anyone could afford to buy more than one or two items from the entire market.
Hello! For some reason when my partner joined in today absolutely all of their graphics settings and keybinds had reset to default. Does anyone know why that would be? Its taking them a while to fix it and they want to know if its going to be an ongoing issue when logging on
Maybe they had a graphics driver update recently that could have changed it?
To be fair I think the same thing happened to me because I noticed my tools were no longer binded to my Fkeys like they used to be. I had to remap them.
It's happened to me a few times over the last year. I just accept it
Ahh okay fair enough. They haven't had a recent update for their graphics driver so it must just be something that happens occasionally.
I havent found a common reason. I can only imagine there must be something on palias end they are doing that might cause the resets. Maybe an inactivity timer on data storage to keep costs down
I sse it different. Why not spend your time doing something fun if even for 2 years. I mean it is free. Will you really lose anything except time? If you had fun then did you even lose that?
I guess it all depends on what you like in a game. I like games with a stable lifespan and don't push FOMO. That way if life gets busy, which it often does, I can take a break for a few months and come back and not feel overwhelmed. I guess you could call me a casual XD
Cake parties started way before maji market. People had too much gold and this was their way of regulating it. Maybe not smart but shrugs. Then they nerfed cakes so it wouldn't happen again.
I'm more upset with DDLV after I paid and now we have to pay over and over? Haven't logged in since.
What's DDLV?
Disney Dreamlight Valley
Oh, my condolences. I heard that game upset a lot of people. Never tried it myself.
Its fine...I still have some plability on it. If I ever go back.
Maybe things going on with games like DDLV and Palia is just a symptom of the video games industry as a whole lately.
At least it has been a good excuse to step back from gaming and focusing on other hobbies 🙂
i was waiting for ddlv to come out since it was supposed to be f2p. then a week before it fully released, they said they changed their minds and now you had to pay. even though a lot of the events the game had to those who had paid were not available to the new players and there was no word if they were going to come back
Maji was a mess all around. I dont think it was specifically aimed at cake party gold but that definitely became a talking point because of the market
I wonder if there are any other games that use Palia's cooking system. I remember how much fun it was to solo cook muujin bahari.
It’s a common cooking system, a lot of other games utilize the same general idea
It reminds me most of cooking mama, lol
Wow you're right that's cool! I had to look that up.
I did too. My first purchase of Palia coins was a large one because of how much I loved the game, not because I liked the cosmetics - still don't like 90% of them
Just thinking out loud. But imagine ~100,000 players each spends $60 on palia coins for cosmetics, which I'd say is a VERY generous number. S6 gets $6,000,000. But then you have to pay devs, suits get their cut, cost of running a server, etc. Is it enough?
I wonder what the operating costs of a game this scale are anyways.
A couple months ago they claimed to have passed 3 million players, so maybe there's loads of people buying paliacoins.
But is that active players? Registered accounts? Because I can tell you many players probably registered on alternate accounts to get those refer-a-friend cosmetics because it was way easier than the refer-a-friend thread in this discord.
I was just about to bring this up lol
I'm skeptical myself but that's what they put out there
I know you're just stating the facts of what they said. But companies fudge numbers to add hype all the time.
I'm just saying that because I came from Runescape, a game that boasts millions of players, but at least 75% of them are bots.
I'm honestly considering this cuz I got no friends who want to play it lmao
That's what I did. I got tired of begging and begging on the refer-a-friend thread and making a new email takes 2 minutes.
Not like S6 cares anyways, registered players look good for their numbers and they can tell their suits "Look at all these new players we're getting!" because they don't know any better.
I just don't like doing that cuz then i feel like I'm a pop-up ad for/at friends ...
it makes me feel weird.
Hime is definitely a registered account which I play a lots
it's what i did, i asked on the refer channel for some of them, but the one that i truly wanted after a week of not getting someone to use the code, i just did it myself
I was starting down that road here, when a former dev was quoted saying 200k players were logging in every day playing for an average 2hrs each. My guess is that statistic game from some internal company memo or PR. What do I know of coure,
It's just feel a little weird if I go this route cuz refer a friend is awkward system and I feel like I did something bad lmao
I find it amusing that people are trying to recruit people to get what is effectively the only non-default, non-paywalled cosmetic set in the game (excluding limited time promotions), when many people arent really interested in trying the game out because there's no earnable cosmetics lol
Nah, refer-a-friend programs are sleazy anyways by design.
If a game is good enough, you shouldn't have to incentivize players to get their friends who wouldn't otherwise be interested in playing to play with you.
Did the dev say 200k players or 200k logins? If I log in 4 times a day does that count as 1 or 4?
So I will just make emails for hime and maybe make an registered alt just to join other's community since hime is in my friend's
They did??
Ok now I'm seeing why you guys bringing that up (accounts but who active) lmao
yup, I found the article and posted here about it the other day during a discussion
Time to search
That was fast lmao
Oh jk no need to search - good ol trusty Dualius

I was genuinely surprised that they even got this game on the Switch because I thought Nintendo had pretty high standards for their games. Not to rag on Palia because it's a great game but it's definitely got some quality issues.
I'm going to be honest, I'm not fan of switch's game looks for palia
It's looks so pixelated and awful
I'm not the one who found the info, it came from a tweet of a former dev who was touting their pride in their involvement and work with Palia but I don't remember who it was. I'm pretty sure it was 200k logins because I was corrected in a comment when I wasn't clear when I used that number and it was read as if I said 200k players. I personally think the 200k number is also somehow pumped up and could include multiple logins by same person
It's hard for me to imagine why they would want this game on switch for any other reason than accessibility for those who have a switch, are interested in Palia, and wouldn't game on PC. I'd imagine those numbers are much higher than those who play on other consoles.
Don't get me wrong, I likes having portable device so I can stay in bed sometimes lmao
I mean, part of the problem of releasing your game on a handheld console is now you have to make sure all future designs for the game can be ported/compatible with handheld.
in the article claiming the 3mil players the S6 rep mentioned the Switch release bringing in a lot of new players. Mo' players, mo' money - or at least that was their hope
It's like every design choice S6 has made from the beginning has put them further and further into a design-space corner. By trying to have all of the things now they have none of the things.
Yeah, wasn't trying to suggest that there aren't people who do that. I don't own a switch, but I bought one for my brother who PC games primarily, and he does exactly what you do with the switch a lot more than he even thought he would.
Aww lol
not to mention your ability to patch things in a timely manner is now limited because you have to allow for time for nintendo (or whoever else) to approve your patches before you can push them live, and on a live service game where everyone is on the same servers you have to make sure everyone is on the same version lol
I think calling it a problem is subjective. Making sure that it's compatible in the future with handheld is just a logical outcome of that consideration. It means more work for devs, at the benefit of being more accessible, which is one thing Palia has tried to tout.
That's the accessibility that I'm talking about. Sounds like we're in agreement.
I mean, is more players more money if they become disinterested in the game before they want to buy Palia Coins?
Maybe they got a few players here and there, but they missed out on so much potential revenue that could be used to keep employees and better the game by adopting this F2P model :\
And the changes made to things like the landscape, grass, rocks, etc in order to make the game more playable on the Switch have made it look so ugly on my PC, almost cheap. I can make better ground textures and landscapes on Sims4 and I'm terrible at doing it
I don't think you're wrong about more players being automatically more money, but more players is undeniably the opportunity for more money.
F2P mobile games work because they're not very demanding as far as devs/upkeep/etc and can be run by a small team. MMOs can't be F2P to have access to all meaningful content in the game because they are extremely expensive to upkeep and require constant maintenance and a large team.
F2P was always the company's aim, which was outlined in their business model. Like it or not, but a company's business model drives almost all, if not all, of their development and actions. Palia would be a very different game if they had chosen to adopt another model, and I don't think it's worth speculating what the downstream affects of that flash point woudl lbe.
I can respect them sticking by their business model, but who is that really helping at this point? Game's not getting the money it needs to come out with timely updates, game is full of bugs and their workforce is shrinking by the quarter.
I honestly thinks they should work with bugs fixes
Yes, that's why I added that was their hope. It really feels like S6 coasted into open beta with empty pockets. I remember back in Oct in an update or blog note saying about the need to generate money. Of course all games need $, but it feels like there was extra pressure on them and a reason why they pushed the Switch even though the game didn't seem ready for it
I think they should work on those bug fixes, and to be honest they game would not sell well or be bought at the rate that it's currently being adopted if they forced people to buy a game full of bugs.
I'm not sure if this has been asked but I can't seem to get seeds from my mature trees. I've watered them over 10 times now but it's not producing, any thoughts?
All trees should yield a seed. If you haven't gotten one, keep watering. Might not be every day near the end, but it should.
The problem with fixing bugs is that it makes the game better for players that are already aware of the bugs and playing, but it doesn't introduce new shiny content to attract new players or bring back some players who have left. Bug fixing needs to be done in conjunction with content creation.
Yes, the increasing number of bugs, esp game breaking ones, I believe is a major contributor to players jumping ship
no i would say it's the lack of content primarily
that would be another major contributor. I don't think it's a single reason why people have left
I don't disagree with what you're saying outside you calling it a "problem". I also don't think that S6 isn't doing what you're saying you're doing. They're definitely fixing bugs while they're putting out more content.
It's a combination of many things. Lack of meaningful lategame content, major bugs that have persisted for months, layoffs, lack of F2P alternatives to pets/cosmetics, accessibility for people with disabilities.
S6 just seems to be dealing with several large fires at the same time that were caused by an accumulation of little fires they neglected while they were pursuing other goals like the Switch release, Steam, etc.
So they should fix bugs alongside with new stuffs
I'm not saying S6 shouldn't fix bugs. They just need to fix bugs while also working on new content because that's common sense live-service game design.
Ok
this is exactly the issue imho
they're marketing their monetization exclusively to people who would enjoy cosmetics.... but a cosmetic-enjoyer is not going to enjoy a game where they can't earn any cosmetics. :X
Guild Wars 2 approach to that is the same exact reason I quit. In GW1 virtually all weapon skins could be obtained by doing content and there was even a player market for rare weapon skins. In GW2, there are very few "free" weapon/armor skins and the majority are puchased through the premium currency shop. All of the paid cosmetics also look much better than the earnable ones...
I actually like some of the earnable ones in GW2 tbhtbh :3 (but ofc this is all personal preference!) There's at least seasonal cosmetics in GW2 you can earn and get, for free, too ... unlike Palia
AND you can at least earn the currency f2p (very very slow but still)
Don't know if I agree with what you're saying. I know quite a few people who are fine with games like that or don't care too much one way or another.
Some of the free cosmetics were pretty nice. But there were others like the lava cape I really wanted that took months and months of grinding living world 😦
As somebody who loves expressing myself (decorating and character) ... I genuinely am very saddened that I have no proper way to do that with my actual character unless I spend actual $$. It makes it unfun for me, and makes it feel like there's no real point to progress ... since I can't actually showcase that.
I know there's deocration-type items, but not many ppl are going to see that. It's not something I can showcase on my character-- there's no title, no cosmetic ... etc.
I also just love getting a character, and slowly changing how they are throughout playtime. Sort of like an OC or something.
I dunno, man. 90% of the cosmetics people care about in major MMOs are things that were extremely rare and hard to get in the game and were not tied to purchases. Sure in a game like WoW you'll see shop purchased mounts and such a lot, but its the guy sitting on Invincible who really gets the awe and envy of others on the server.
Yeah! I'm not disagreeing. There's def some hit or misses. Just saying, that at least it's a bit better compared to Palia, is all!
I still love my sword i got on GW2 where i feel like a magical girl
and i giggle at some of the seasonal ones (like heck yeah, a weapon that's a candy cane? makes me giggle)
Don't know if you ever played GW1, but that honestly felt like that golden age of MMO gaming to me. It was so much fun to grind for certain weapon skins.
I think I played when I was a wee lad/lass, but I have barely any recollection of it. I was mainly on WoW, Lineage, Everquest when i was younger LOL
That sounds great honestly. I definitely am not trying to invalidate your experiences or anything. I think you've likely found that a lot of games with specific models that you're talking about don't work well for you. I think it's important to at least understand that those models might work well for others. I'm f2p and don't have a ton of skin in this game, but I'm dating someone who holds many of those values.
lol my comment got auto yeeted because I forgot where I was and used a bad word to describe the state games are sent out in
I played GW1 with some friends. Got it as a gift and got a good two weeks into it riiiiight before they went f2p and brought in ritualist, I think
See, heres the thing, people love showing off their earned cosmetics... but a lot of people will earn the "world's best fisherman" shirt or something, and decide that they need to find some pants and a hat that go well with it. this is the best opportunity for the cash shop to get some purchases, to add some flair to something else you earned.
People should never feel like they HAVE to buy something from the cash shop just to stop looking like a default newbie character. That's how you get people to resent your monetization model.
I'm not going to deny that those people exist, but I'm going to disagree with the 90% figure. I don't think either of us can speak for that many people.
It was a great time! Back then you would easily find guilds with maxed out rosters and players doing all kinds of PvE/PvP. I think the MMO genre just seems to be dying down because it's such a limited player pool and in an oversaturated market and many of the MMO veterans like myself have settled down and started families so we don't have time to play like we used to.
Man, I wished my friends would have stayed. I stopped playing soon after they did, because they didn't want to cope / learn the change in meta because of ritualist
I just want animals companions lmao
I'm not sure I agree, but I think I get the idea. Expression in games where there's a hard line between f2p and paying real money can be hard, but honestly a lot of it comes down to effort and freedom. I would argue that grinding out $ IRL and spending it in a cash shop is "earning" your cosmetics too.
Alright time for lunch 🙂 Be back later. Be kind ❤️
For clarity, it wasn't 90% of the people. It was 90% of the individual items that are actually held up as enviable among the community.
Also, hoping that I'm not ruffling anybody's feathers right now. Definitely not trying to do that, but at least also throwing my thoughts into the ring as well.
You're all good
I can see how I misread that, my bad! Honestly I don't often look at other characters a lot unless they're friends, party members, or people I'm directly working with. I just like being involved and watering my little patch of grass, but can understand that I'm probably in a minority of people who play games like this.
All good. I just like to avoid misunderstandings where I can. Your points aren't invalid in anyway.
I don't really think there's that hard of a line as people tend to think there is. There are definitely ways to do that-- Examples::
-
You can set the skills to have specific milestones. Those milestones could give 1 specific piece for an outfit, that correlates to the skill. Maybe even a milestone that gives a title that you can have above your player's name, too.
-
One or two cosmetics via the events. That way you can showcase the event, get people also excited for said event next time it rolls around.
-
Can also do a battlepass system, where there's a F2P option and a P2P option. But also make this battlepass system stay the entire time, without it just... disappearing and having a time limit. Let people earn the "Credits" for it in-game, doing activities, which they can use to unlock a specific thing on said battlepass. If you know/have played Deceive Inc, they have something similar to what I'm thinking of.
Images for reference to what i mean ^
((Also, for clarity, you're completely fine. Discussions like this, as long as their civil, etc, are really nice and enjoyable to have. Imo anyways!))
I'm sorry, I think I wasn't very clear, I meant a hard line between having a player be f2p and one who is not. I feel like a lot of the time the community will treat you a certain way if you are one or the other. That being said, I think your ideas are good for what you're looking for.
There are some spaces where I get grief from people for being f2p, and some instances where I think f2pers are talked to or treated like second class citizens for not spending money on a game. I can see the logic, but there are many ways you can contribute to a game's success outside of spending money.
Yeah, and that's sort of why we talk about balance here when it comes to f2p and p2p as a whole. Because there really shouldn't be that kind of feeling-- and for Palia, quite frankly, I feel like a lot of times the "Paying players" are a lot more valued... and it kinda hurts & sucks to see.
I can understand it though. The bottom line is that most businesses cannot survive soley on thoughts, prayers, and community. When push comes to shove, money is involved. Devs deserve to be paid.
Or for Palia in particular, bring in a dye shop, tie it to foraging items, and let us increase the color options for the base level cosmetics if nothing else. And give us a chance to find a hat or two in a treasure chest somewhere. Give us at least one free item for every tab of the wardrobe and I'd be a lot happier, honestly.
That being said, no amount of money will absolutely foster goodwill and quality if there is nobody who wants to be a part of it. Especially if the product is hot garbage
Yep! I have ideas/concepts for Dyes and stuff too. I've talked about it quite a bit here, and have also talked about it with Tarina here too!
I would absolutely love a way for dyes to be a thing-- esp craftable. Quest line(s) for Jel and Tish-- the quests even interlocking & joining together, too. Would help expand their story, personalities, and how they interact with one another. And potentially help Jel have more purpose, along with helping his confidence and his own self-worth.
I don't think that's a bad idea, but I think it'll ultimately turn into a thing where people look at those options like they're on eof the default options. I could be wrong about that though. I've never cared a ton about my character's appearance, and I know that some people want to be able to earn options.
Yes! And I don't think anybody is denying that or disagreeing! Which I feel like is where sometimes there's a lot of disconnect when this discussions happen. (Talking in general, not right now)
And why I speak about "Balance" a lot. Because both players is important-- whether they pay or not. F2P players, for a Free Game, is the foundation for the game, ya know? They have value too!
Agreed.
The good news is Palia isn't hot garbage. It's just not anywhere close to what it needs to be in most of the aspects being talked about here, and what it has going for it most, the art, the music, the dialogue, is in large part owed to the people already cut out of the company.
I'm not sure if I'd say it's not anywhere close, but part of billing yourself as an MMO, especially one in beta, is giving itself time to become what it needs to be. I'm guilty of wanting instant gratification a lot, but from how things go in chat sometime, a lot of the community seems a lot less forgiving in that aspect.
whether they pay or not. F2P players, for a Free Game, is the foundation for the game, ya know? They have value too!
F2P players have value, they're basically your biggest ticket to free marketing you can get.
They'll make fanart, they'll stream, they'll tell their friends.... as long as they feel they're treated well, and appreciated.
That one post that was put out after the palcat situation was... incredibly offputting to a LOT of F2P players, because the wording of that post very strongly implied "if you are not giving us money, you are not a supporter of this game".
I don't think they claim to be an MMO anymore. Id have to look up exactly where it was said but I'm pretty sure they've walked back on that.
I can understand why. That kind of strong language is easy to type, but not super mindful or considerate of what it means to support a game.
We saw it as a thank you to the players who wanted to support us even during these times. To us, buying something from our store equals “I truly believe in what you’re doing, enough to send money your way.” This is particularly true since we’re a new independent (also: no-name) studio with our first game that is just one month into Beta. That’s why the Palcats are a bonus on top of what you’ve spent.
Of course, did that come off badly to all of our free-to-play players or those who were still on the fence, or those who were growing concerned with the direction we were going in? Yes, we definitely realize that.
And it kinda ends with that, another apology saying "we don't have plans to add more pets or expand the feature anytime soon."

It was very offputting, and it still makes me feel weird. & It is what i was thinking of in regards to feeling like the F2P have little to no value.
I would agree that they're not a true MMO because how server sharding works. That being said, let me change what I was saying before from MMO to any online game that continuously rolls out new updates. Being a game in beta confers many of the same thoughts too.
It's like ... yeah they "realize that" in a sense, but... they didn't do anything about it. They still didn't. They didn't expand on the "apology" other than going "haha yeah we know but... oh well!" which just rubs me the wrong way haha
I definitely can understand why that might rub someone the wrong way. Out of curiosity, what would you suggest would be an appropriate "apology"?
I'm also a big believer that saying "I'm sorry" or "I apologize for X" is just the communication of a Real Apology™ that is on the way.
I mean, tbh, one way to hopefully help with that, would be adding at least 1 F2P pet option. I know this discussion happens a lot, but it genuinely would of helped smooth things over (not completely, but at least a little.). I mean, the way stuff was worded just... it's super offputting. Esp since it was... well,
It just wasn't expanded upon. It's similar to how they recently apologized for not having "Beta" listed on things (like openly on a store page) ... but never followed up on it.
Apologies don't really mean much when actions/things afterwards aren't taken, if that makes sense.
😅 I also believed, at the time, Palcats were... yes, a thank you, but in the sense of, "you get this for at least a week, maybe 2, earlier than F2P." Which I thought was a nice sentiment.
...I realized I was wrong afterwards haha.
Out of curiosity, do you think the introduction of a F2P pet option would scorn the premium cash shop community? Because I can imagine a lot of impending saltiness, especially if the F2P option was comparably cute/awesome. I don't know if I'm right in that thought.
This will be a hot take but i think the pets should be cash only
If they had a F2P pet, it could just be one. I can't remember who it was, I'll haev to look up to credit them-- But they mentioned having it to where Tau would lead you to a group of Plumehound puppies via a quest. Then you could take one of those home.
That could be the first initial "pet", and then the ones in the shop itself, are more like "skins" for them. Could also have "pet outfits" for them too, depending on how it's made and things similar.
This also means they could expand on the Pet feature(s). They could have it to where every once in a while, they could send some amoutn of items back to your storage. Or maybe help pick things up from hunting, or forageables maybe at times. Pet emotes, pet tricks if ppl really wanted, etc. I mention this, cuz they said they didn't want to paywall any gameplay related features.
And I think if they kept it that way-- it would definitely help. And it wouldn't make it seem like the ppl who did pay for the current pets, be locked out or like their money was wasted.
Edit:: idea of plumehound puppies i remember was from Froggies, mentioned here: #💬│palia-discussions message ... just want to post for credit of where I saw it
they could have easily released the sandy palcat variant as a free pet with the other skins as a paid cosmetic for the pet
No, because the addition of a F2P pet option benefits paying players too.
If they added a f2p pet option, even a single one, then they could market the paid pets as skins for the f2p pet.
You know what that means? Pets could be given actual features, interactability, functionality, make them feel more like pets instead of just some critter that does nothing but follow you.
And when pets are given cool features like that where they feel more like a companion rather than just a fluffy accessory, people would probably actually be more interested in buying those skins so they could customize their companion.
I can't say for sure, but I think that could be an option or intention. I don't know if this is true, but I've heard that pets were prematurely released in this game in a fit of reflexive panic. That being said, your idea is good if implemented and I think people could go for it.
Sadly, I have my doubts. If that was the plan, that letter after the palcats would have been the perfect time to say that :/
My answer for this is, IF they aren't immediately planning any solution to it...admit it openly. Honesty is respectable and at least we can see where you stand on something. So a good apology might have been simply "We realize this rubbed some people the wrong way and that wasn't our intention. Unfortunately, we gave our word that we would not devalue those gifts and as it stands we do not have any alternative plans immediately on the table to address those concerns, so we cannot definitively answer them. Any solutions we manage to develop will be announced only as soon as they are reliably pursuable by our team."
I haven't played it a lot, but I have friends who roped me into FFXIV when it went partially f2p, and I think they implement something a lot like what you're saying. I've never felt like my access to the game was unreasonable as a f2p and did have all those options.
I think that's reasonable, transparency can be big, and I value it greatly too. I know as a company, transparency can be somewhat of a slippery slope, but in my opinion it's almost always valued positively, and issues can be managed from the company side.
Pets should remain a pay feature, even if they add skills or such to them. Which is think they should. I do also think that their prices and such need a drastic overhaul and that their current pricing is horrid. I do think that f2p players have value but at the end of the day it doesnt pay bills or help devs keep their jobs. Saying that f2p players get more people to play, maybe they do, maybe they dont but thats like an influencer saying i have 100k followers you should give me free meals. It doesnt pay peoples bills.
I want to see people enjoy the game but i also want to see it succeed and it needs profit to do so. That may bother people but its just truth.
I generally agree, but there is value (and maybe the problem is that the value is fuzzy, indirect, and hard to accurately pinpoint) in things like marketing, attention, and exposure. That being said, paying someone in exposure or trying to negotiate free products and services only for exposure is a predatory tactic.
I don't know how to properly respond to that, esp since everyone starts off a F2P player. A lot of people-- not saying all, but there's definitely a good, huge chunk-- won't spend money or put money into a game that they're not enjoying.
There's a balance. nobody is saying they don't deserve money. Nobody is saying they shouldn't have a profit, etc. There are just ways around it, and there's a balance.
I also, quite honestly, don't understand the influencer comparison. especially considering this is a game, for people to enjoy, and not... an influencer.
infuence ppl are rly stinky :/
I think I get the comparison a bit, because I've seen a lot of f2per get compared to influencers in terms of how they "contribute" to a game.
It tends to be a trend, but not all of them are bad. In my opinion it's all the more reason to support the ones you like and respect. There was actually an influencer in genchat last night. I don't think they were too famous, but I thought to look them up and they had a pretty decent sized following.
It was a comparison I used because i read the part of f2p users stream and bring marketing which immediately made me think influencers
Had to re-read the bit, i realize my dyslexia also made me misread some words, so apologies.
But I still don't get the reference. Esp since, a lot of people, dont' really act like that while playing
That might just be a lil lost on me though, so apologies for that. But either way,
Nobody is asking for everything. A lot of times, when these discussions happen, people ask for balance. Because that's the important bit. Both parties are important.
I wish that I got that impression given some of the things that I read. A lot of time the takeaway I get is a lot of whining and whinging, with no real solutions or many times even no real understanding of the subject matter. I would hope that what you're saying is at least what those people are aiming for, and I'm not good at picking up what they're putting down.
And I can understand why people get that impression, but genuinely, a lot of people (again, I know there's some people who think otherwise...) that i end up speaking to here, talk about balance and how that's important. I tend to try to really emphasize it though, since a lot of times it gets misunderstood or something similar, as if we're just begging and whining for more free stuff :\ Which isn't the case...
But a lot of people here are genuinely passionate about the game and do want it to succeed and get better. Even the ones who don't play often or at all anymore for one reason or another.
You're right, and I should be spending providing more time and attention to those posts anyways.
I think that it is fair to say that the average free player might tend to overestimate how much they individually contribute to a game's success. I certainly wouldn't say that they are not valuable at all. Unfortunately, their value is not reflected on a monthly review.
but... suppot iz support...?
y wood some1 be lezz if dey can no pay 4 stuffs.... dat iz kind hurtful 2 me cuz i can no pay 4 stuff at all cuz of my mum...
I'd agree generally with that, but I think their value is reflected on those reviews, it's just hard to pinpoint exactly how much. That being said, it's even harder to pinpoint exactly what that impact is in dollars.
It's there in terms of statistics but the banks tend to only look at dollar figures.
It's similar, in my opinion, to how marketing tends to always overestimate the impact of their campaigns. Sometimes it IS the ads and promos, but other times it really is people's word of mouth, personal testimony, etc.
Absolutely
Agree, and that is the reason why sometimes you end up with some really poor management decisions. I want to state again that I am 100% for sustainable growth and 100% believe that cannot happen without a requisite amount of money, but money isn't everything*, and it's a shame sometimes when banks and businesses can't or won't see that.
Again, I'm all for F2P and think F2P should have fair rewards for their time. I like Tarina's take on it with a balanced approach. Unfortunately it's just the reality of business that making money has to be highly prioritized.
Agreed. A lot of people also aren't very aware of how S6 got the amount of money they're currently burning through. I also can't say this for sure, but I don't think they've ever hit a sustainable month yet, and I think that's OK given what their business model is for now.
A bit of a late response, but: (I type slow lmao)
The short of it is, no one is upset that there's a cash shop.
The upset comes from the fact that the cash shop is the only means of obtaining (non-default) cosmetics for your character, of ANY kind, at all. There's a small handful of exceptions (referral rewards, twitch drops, nintendo switch launch, etc) but none of those are something you actually earn through playing the game.
When people say they want a balance, they're just asking for a few earnable options too. The most popular request for earnable outfits seems to be "just let us earn an outfit for each of our skills".
Now, it is possible to have a balance here.
Just because someone could possibly earn a fisher outfit, or a miner outfit, or a bug catcher outfit, etc does not suddenly devalue the fairy outfit. If someone wants to be a fairy, the cash shop would still be the place to get it.
From what I've seen, most people just want a way to visually show off the work they put into their skills through their character too, not just through a tiny trophy in their house. >>
Having some earnable options would also be really good for player retention. It motivates people to keep playing and grinding in order to earn those outfits... and people who feel invested and motivated are far more likely to be willing to open their wallet than, for example, a cosmetic-motivated player who isn't motivated to play at all due to the lack of cosmetic rewards.
No worries. I think we're on a pretty similar page. There's very little I disagree with what you're stating here, looks great.
I'm glad that all of the coversations I've seen on here are being polite and constructive.
it just tells me even more that players should have a lot more say about what features come into the game.
Is there a better way to get more flow wood? I just saw something on a stream and I think I am going about this all wrong lol.
Flow Groves in Bahari Bay are a great way to get flow wood.
This looked like they were on a community plot or something and it was over 20 FTs.
Completely agree that there needs to be motivation to play and earn rewards and housing trophies are not the answer. I do think you can hit a balance of keeping outfits paid for but tool skins earn able but thats a whole other thing. F2p players values i think are in how the team can turn to the investors and say hey we have x number of players playing x amount of time and those kpi's are very important. The big hurdle i think alot of people can agree on is the current cash shop is predatory and deincentivises spending
As far as I know, groves are still the best way to get flow wood. I haven't played in months though so there might be a better method I don't know of.
Once you finish the earth temple bundle you can start getting flow seeds and grow flowers trees on your plot
WHHHHHHAAAAAATTTTTT! I DID NOT KNOW THAT. When you finish the temple, how do you get them!?
I've seen the plot ft's but I didn't know the new reward does that. That's awesome.
You have to finish the bundle. So finishing each temple activates the bundle in the room with all the palia zodiac type symbols
Jina and hekla hang out there. Anyway each bundle has things you have to contribute to it and once you finish each bundle you get rewards
It activates the Vault tied to that Temple
Each Vault has a few bundles to complete.
Wow, Thank you so much. I will have to take a better look today. I appreciate you and your help.
That would have been a great way to promote communities. I.e. only community members can help chop your flow trees. As it stands now anyone can. Give us reasons NOT to play alone. Also let community members visit other members lot even when offline.
I always thought community competitions would be fun. Community vs. Community bingo for example (Have a big bingo board and players from each community have to gather items to mark off tiles i.e. Ancient fish, 5 Dari cloves, a Proudhorn antler, etc.) Winner could get a ton of good focus food or resources 🙂
I need to find a community first
Same to be honest. All of the communities I was invited to had like 1-3 players and were never active 😄
But I guess there's very little incentive for communities when all of the group activity can just be organized through LFG, of the little group activities we have in the game at the moment 😦
Honestly I'd be interested in joining an in-game community, but I haven't see any activity in-game in regards to them other than me fat-fingering the shortcut and rebinding it after I did that for the hundredth time.
I'm still semi new and learning so I plan to reach out once I am more knowledgeable. I do like watching the streams when people cook together. That seems kinda fun lol.
Personally not a fan of cake parties because they remind me of assembly lines, but cooking together with people for weeklies/on a small scale with friends is great!
I don't know how people have the fortitude to do the 4/6 hour cake parties, even with breaks xD I would go mad.
i feel like cooking parties would be way too much for me, I just offer to help others cook when I have time and I see someone asking
We need a "My Chat is Broken" emote/srsly
the cooking parties lately have had some rancid vibes which hasn’t helped
Where is this cuz I don't know where
i’ve been at multiple lately where people are borderline bullying people for being slow even when they explain they’re on switch or have mobility issues, it’s insane to me how ppl think it’s ok to harass people when it isn’t even their party 😭
Nah that's not ok
yeah, idk what’s gotten into people lately
I’m starting to film and would love to make content on palia soon, but one thing I would love to see implemented is a way to hide the hud, but also hide the screen on the in game camera function, be very cool for not just myself but others to use to get nice cinematic shots :3 just a thought
It ain't lately. There's always some subset of entitled or self-righteous, and they're seldom quiet.
Tell me if you guys like this idea.
If we could have furniture colors that match other styles, I think it would be really cool. So say you like the Ravenwood table, but you want it in the Dragontide style. Or you like Capital Chic furniture, but you want it in Bellflower theme.
I like the color changes we have, but they don't always match and I would love if we could mix and match furniture styles with the same colors.
That would be great because the colors not matching bugs the hell out of ne
Wait is this... Not in the game?
Communities just get matched together on the server and get a chat room currently
Alpha NDA Intensifies
No not really because there’s never anything added and you can’t pvp annoying people 🤷🏻♀️
what does this have to do with pvp-?
I replied to the wrong comment. He asked if I played anymore
ohh xD
I just... I mean... Why though...
agreed, WHY INDEED 🙃
Is there a perticuliar reason why there is no battlepass? im new and love this game and want to support it and buy stuff but the shop/price doesn't feel appealing
Well, there isn't really any battling, for one. The other is that they want as many people as possible to be able to play, hence the lack of cash barrier except for cosmetics.
i see, im surprised with all the amount of content and work for free they are still running the servers
maybe i buy a outfit someday hope this game lasts its the best comfy game ive played so far
tbh would love when they decide to add a battlepass, a few cosmetics, maybe a special toolskin, a few zeki lucky coins
seems like they want to explore more cosmetic options anyways
Yeah and make the battlepass xp something like giving gifts to npc or fulfilling reqeust or other regular stuff, makes it both more rewarding
there's battlepasses in lots of games (especially mobile games) that don't have battling. they just don't call it a "battle"pass.
Palia pass™️ coming soon. Featuring exciting rewards like 20 rocks, 5 flow planks and a recolored pair of glasses.
if it's a pass one could retroactively purchase then that'd be fine; otherwise if it's the "standard" limited time window to purchase and grind then it might sour things with the community further
and yeah they don't really have much in terms of meaningful rewards outside of mats or cosmetics imo
lmao it would probably end up being called a PaliaPass wouldnt it.
paliapass?
you're all going to beetlejuice it
fortnite you will pay for popularizing the battlepass format
Just sell outfits by piece, would easily increase their sales
It was actually DOTA that did it
So I seem to be missing 3 garden plots 🤔 I’ve checked all of my additional plots and my inventory and they are nowhere to be seen
i’d contact support i heard some ppl have been losing stuff
I think regular worms now but I just dump the cakes in the bin, too impatient
I have obtained my first max romance with sweet baby angel Hassian >:3.....now to break it so I can romance Soup King and get his Pic and pin too. ♡ I am loving the storylines for each character aaaa ♡♡♡
Oh but on a different note, does anyone know what types of food items are particularly good at making glow worms? Or is it the same no matter what you add?
what if they raise ppl to lv5 tho
worm/glow sheet
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1cDsOxSJSkODSEimSEZmmos2_5hOGJ1Typ4tXutjBI9I/edit#gid=1206330854
Also thank you! Gonna do a fishing session this weekend >:3
i say this bc if they do and you broke up broke up ..you'll be at lv1
How Many NPCS can you romance? Is there a Limit?
no limit
You can romance them all without breaking up with any if them.
Yep, you can get all their pins, too. You can only have one pin equipped at a time tho, it seems. I'm curious why there are two pin slots available tho. I've only got one pin so far so I haven't be able to really mess with it.
Oh, that must have been an update? All the info I had read on it said you could only equip one at a time
It's been two since at least open beta
Weird, I was looking this info up only 2 weeks ago and all I could find said one
Looking for some people to complete some quests with !~ Let me know @ me here
Do you have a source? I'd love to see where someone said that
Not trying to be mean, just awkward with words
yes, it would be good to know where you read it. if it was on the wiki or something it needs to be corrected
Yes, at least since open beta it's been two pins, but a quick search in the wiki.gg I found this: "in Palia it’s common and accepted to have multiple love interests or lovers. Though keep in mind: you can only wear one pin at a time! –Almanac of Palia". I've seen info in the wiki be wrong before and has usually been something in game before beta that was changed, but the wiki never updated.
Pretty sure it's 2 pins
it is two, currently. the almanac does say one like the wiki quotes though, so it probably changed sometime before open beta (which started in August, so quite a while ago)
2 pins dw ^^
Wiki does need to update tho
not sure why you're telling me not to worry, I already know how many it is lol I was confirming for you that you're correct. and pointing out why people were still talking about it
I'm going to be upset if I can't have poly relationship with npcs lmaooo /hj
iznt it buld in game 2 be poly?
Yes ^^
Does anyone feels like the sky is quite dark at night today in Bahari?
Wouldn’t it be cool if you could sell the fish, bugs, foraging to the corresponding villager and get medals for them. If you put them in the box it’s gold or at any of the register?
I made a feedback note to open a fish market at Einar's spot. So we could sell him our catches.
ooh, I love that idea!!
You can already sell him your fish though.
It would be cool to get the medallions though instead of just the gold.
that’d be cool , im also thinking if they wanted to do like reputation with “factions” if we’re to be going out in the open world and meeting different areas, why not something similar to a guild person at a hall who will take “donations” and it’s x amount of certain things? and you’re reputation with the city or what ever increases and you can get access to items from a guild representative
That sounds so dope. Or following on your donations thing maybe something like that and if you donate all certain fish in 1 human world day you get x amount of medallions.
Oh yeah.
I'm now having yellow cylinders show up and a ton of glitches and a dead zone that I can't cross and if I do I fall thru the ground!🤣🤪
Sorry for the odd question, but: What skin color do you have selected? I love it!
does anyone know what the setting is that blurs the background of npcs when talking to them?
i’m not online right now, but if u DM me i can send when i’m online again! im in bed because i have work in a couple of hours
I will, thank you! ✨
not sure if this is the right spot to ask, but if i hit the flower limit on plot A, can i still place flowers on plot B?
Is there a possibility for the premium market to increase or decrease in price? I'm afraid if I don't buy the clothes now and it increase the price 🥲
increase won't happen(they are already overpriced lmao) but they started to do sales recently on the older pieces
thanks!!!
I had the same glitch where I kept falling through the ground one time it was driving me nuts!
I had a border line so I knew where not to go!🤣
the plots untill after 48 hours naturally, if a crop is on them they will stay there until harvested. if you are tilling, planting, and then harvesting the crop before that time and you have to re-till, you might want to send in a bug report.
so, when you till the soil, it starts a timer. after 48 hours, the soil tilled soil is supposed to revert back to being untilled. if a crop is on the soil when that timer is up, the soil will revert when the crop is harvested
yeah, if you are tilling after every harvest, send in a bug report to let the dev's know

Sorry I got here too late
Hey, just caught what got Automodded. It was the word "account" but contained a bad word due to a typo. 😄
Bad luck. 😛
awesome, ty!
omg! is anyone else as excited as i am about this (what seems to be) a new pet in the update trailer?! i caaannnot wait 🥹
Yesss
me either!
If only we could just turn walls off.
Would be better than a courtyard
Hopefully they have a bit more functionality. My palcat just exists doing nothing LOL
that would be so cool!!! even if they just exist like the palcats, i’m excited 😂
I'd even just appreciate idle animations tbh
Tis a Flutterfox!
(Hoping the Summer colored one or Autumn looks similar to the Kitsuu... Probably not... But a smol fox boyo can dream... XD)
Leafy, Spring. Summer, Autumn, and Winter...
(Wonder how many coins I'm going to have to buy to get them! XD)
the video they posted on their socials has a preview of 3 of them, you might like the last one, not quite kitsuu colored though
the one on the left is the same as the one in the first scene
Ish perfect~
(Yooooooo! I love that hood! Wonder if it comes in that creamy white and gold palette like that one poofy pants monk outfit)
Just found out today, that the golden axe skin actually appears in ||Subira's|| inn room~
(Although the look VERY feminine... I like the design of that white hooded outfit
)
(Wonder how it'll look on a Male player...
)
Sooo not imagining that. Why equals female always showing skin?
Oh no not me imagining Jel designing it and pondering the same
Tish: "Why is there a sketch of my brother wearing a revealing mage outfi-"
Jel: "GIMME THAT"
(You got: Jel's "personal" research! Don't question it...)
"Personal research" being a sketchbook full of illustrations of Reth which become more unhinged and spicy near the end of the book
Mind out of the gutter 😉
No.
True!

anybody else seeing this in bahari? been seeing this for days and when I open the maps there's nothing
Must be a bug, with these numbers it´s on another map altogether. Have you started the Temple of the Gales quest by any chance?
ROFL
Might be to do with a temple
nope, this is all my ongoing quests rn
What is your opinion with coming nerf on iron and palium ? Sell bars now ?
Or wait gold cap is higher ?
Hey guys sorry I interrupt! I is there a way to upper the quality on the switch (lite) ? I can’t see most of the world details and flowers are rarely showing up. It kinda look all flat and boring while my mom pc has an amazing environment
I honestly keep all bars for crafting
Can you display a starred heat root or does it just sell higher ?
you can't display any starred forageables, it can be used in cooking to increase chances of a star dish, or can be sold
ha ok yes makes sense ty
if u want to sell stuff for the money I would wait until we know about the changes, so the usual 30min-1 h patchnotes before the patch, quickly log in and sell the stuff u want to sell
Oooh, displaying veggies sounds like nice clutter for the kitchen.
Thank you for the info!✨️
i think you misread my message
you cannot display them
i wish we could though, love me some clutter
we got one good looking masculine outfit last patch, now we will get feminine ones for the next 8 Patches again
Same!🥲
I know you sent this like an hour ago, but as far as I know, you can't increase the quality. But, you can also always ask in #💻│tech-help and/or even #🎲│console-zone to see if they might have an idea if there is or not.
slowly losing my mind trying to catch a void ray... reminds me why i stopped playing 🥲
I got a void ray easily, my whale was the unicorn fish 😭
How am I just now realizing that you can search through your inventory in build mode on your plot?! This is going to make life so much easier 😂
@regal aurora just a fyi I'm curious to hear your point of view more
just because we view things differently doesn't change it's valid sorry for genchat it's.. Yeah... I think it's important either way
Thank you, where would you like to discuss this? Most of the time i seem to be in the wrong chat 😥
It only seems to be possible to search things there which can be placed outside. Maybe there are other criteria but thats what i think it is.
There is no wrong chat but here we can go big
Plus alot of people here are super nice and respectful even when it gets heated
But I understand your views about nothing for thr older players. And I agree to a certain extent. Most can knock out the update in a few hours and waiting another month for something to do.
But I come from it's beta it's broken mess it might die before release camp. They use the community to source alot of testing and since most don't even bother to leave feedback it creates a major cross in opinions, aka gold making. Right now you find yourself just afking on the plot factor in the caps and limitations you kinda find yourself with nothing to do. Which ultimately sucks.
The whole redoing from scratch can be annoying while this isn't something that personally bothers me I can still understand why it eats away at people. The game may be an mmo but I hoesntly have minimal gameplay reasons to interact with others. But they could be working on both group and solo content for players since if you look into the mmo market alot of bigger titles are trying to find a balance for both types of players
I agree 100%
But I also only play palia for a couple hours a day either due to work or just playing another game, like for me palia is a laid back mess around for abit then go ham in another game with friends and I hope palia keeps thst thought in mind when making new content. I hate missing out on things and dropped alot of mmos due to the constant pressure of being a cookie cutter and having to do things at xyz time otherwise ahaha you are outta luck! You missed out good luck next week
Btw im not a Beta player i started late December and have 1100 ingame hours
The game is still in beta so yes you are a beta player
Tester is tester
Just because we put in hours of playtime into palia didn't mean we not beta player anymore. If the game still says beta, then we're still beta players
I don't recall when I downloaded Palia through Epic. But I currently have almost 200 hours through Steam. I play for hours per day. Mostly just running around and hunting or mining. It is easy for me to focus on when I'm in a lot of pain
Since its a beta I expect alot of rebalance and changes from anything big to anything small like the text and interactions I've had with the npcs I expect to change at release along with the quest progression. Even a whole rework of skills and items related to them. That's when the whole "won't be reset at launch" rubs me the wrong way. I'd like to have the option to reset without having to make an entire new account and unlink everything especially when they run limited events. Gimme a reset to 0 but keep limited time events stuff atleast so when released it's like ahaha I played in the darker times
My point is more on their businessmodel i think.
Whats their goal?
I have been playing Runescape for 19 years for example, so im more then familiar with all the struggles games go through.
I feel S6 is on the wrong path for making this a succesful game and thats what im worried about
Depends on who is still investing, since they have pull over s6 into making bad choices.
The game might still say it's in beta, but I choose to treat it like a full release specifically because they went out of their way to avoid labeling the game as beta on switch, neglected to add the early access label or even the word beta anywhere on the steam page, etc....
When you considerthat, "it's beta!" feels more like a phrase to shield the game from criticism, not because they actually want to market the game as a beta :/
Was it a different company before S6?
100% valid. I'm still salty over the steam thing since I'm pretty sure even if you mess up ticking the early access button on steam you still HAVE TO mention on the page it's early access :/
Investors are not part of s6 but since they provide money to help make palia they kinda, unfortunately, have some say in things
Im still wondering how they got Nintendo to go along with this game
Same... Like I thought nintendo were alot more harsh in getting certain games approved to the market :/
But I'm not super familiar with the legal side of switch tos
Yes exactly and this whole bug infested (sorry) beta game isnt the best advertisement for Nintendo
iirc i read somewhere that “multiplayer” and stuff along the “family” side were popular for nintendo so they must have really pushed it to get palia on switch
Ew nintendo I use to admire your ethics
“family mmo? sounds neat “ approves
but idk anything i’m just spitballing from what i remembers from years ago
#diskette what are the points you disagreed with me earlier? Cause reading what youre saying here sounds all very legit to me
I saw a theory on a reddit post some time back, that, if true, would explain a LOT
granted, this is entirely speculation and we have no way of knowing for sure, but the theory basically went like this:
an investor with ties to nintendo might have offered to help fund the game, as long as they got a promise from S6 that it would release on switch by X date. Then the date draws near, the game is launched in PC as open beta, but... they didnt promise that investor a beta. They promised that investor a full release. And so all the beta labeling gets scrubbed in all the places that mattered: store pages, the front page of palia's website, etc etc.
Interesting...

It was more how it was presented in gen chat, like it's a beta so things are gonna change to and the whole older players bring new players in. I think regardless of changes made to balancing I personally don't talk to anyone about palia from my other gaming circles as I don't think a high end raider who min maxes everything is into something like palia. And I think the lack of long term current content is fine since I don't have to play palia. I don't have to log in for ages and I'm not super missing out on anything. I miss a daily in another game and I'm outta luck I'm held back on chances of progressing the game and get left behind
Like I enjoy palia for what it is, but I also like playing other games with friends
And yes yes I fell for the steam lies, so I honestly spend more time testing things then playing. All morning I've spent my time restarting to test something someone ran into to try recreate it before submitting to s6 since soft locking is fun jkjk
But my view isn't gonna align with everyone's and that's fine I enjoy hearing others perspectives I don't expect to change theirs only learn
I had the most game-breaking bug in the week of closed beta, but in a way it was kind of hilarious (it was fixed by the time open beta arrived thankfully lmao)
TLDR: my character was cursed with the voice of death.
If I whispered someone, they'd crash. If I sent them a friend invite, they'd crash. If I spoke in server chat, everyone in the server would crash.
I could basically crash anyone and everyone I wanted to at will LOL
Rn my favourite is crashing if you move while trying to place a bug lure....
And that goes if I'm doing it or anyone else is doing it so I had to boot up all the pcs and switches to see what, who, why, when's and detail the life outta it
Ok, i get your point!
For me Palia is more then just a game on the side. I really really see the potential of this game and i love playing it. Im not multigaming so Palia is basically the only game i play now.
I have been playing Beta games before with one just shutting down due to "server problems" after 3 years and never coming back online after that.
I dont want this happening here so im trying to share my concerns about people leaving because they are bored to death and the necessity to give people more longtime content.
Ok idk what bothered auto mod there @wide hound what did I do?! Werkwerk
Yeah, if Palia became another job style game with tons of log in reward requirements and progression so grindy you can't really miss a day...I'd probably just stop playing.
Even for cozy games that stuff just kills it.
I literally just stopped playing Sky Children of Light this year because of how intensive the grind and fomo is when it's not THAT scummy of a game, they just expect you to log in every day for 2 hours or fall behind and it HAS to be EVERY day because you can't do more than 2 hours of grind per day...which is just not how regular people's lives work.
That sounds awfull
I'm gonna tldr myself: if they add even simple weekly group/solo instances reusing the already placed temples have it be random puzzles and maybe mobs for the pew pew types. Easy content to do at least once a week with friends
Yeah, so I quit. I literally was getting anxiety from a cozy game where the point of the game is to collect light to quell the darkness and make friends.
Because of the fomo being in every second of the game. Season? Fomo. Battlepass for the season? Fomo. Cosmetics? Fomo boutique style with cosmetics only coming back in the store IF YOU ARE LUCKY...once per year maybe even once every 2 - 4 years.
for sure and it’s ok to share the concerns
i’m worries about players leaving due to how buggy it is (i see few ppl that do in the discord, can’t imagine those not) or over how it’s not really mmo in the sense a lot of those kind of players imagine,
yea i play a gatcha game on phone (ok really 2) and if i miss loggin in a miss chance at gems etc and idk when they do events ahead of time unless it’s like a days notice, i burnt myself out playing them every day last year so i officially clocked out on that type of stuff, i still got the games but now it’s whenever i rmember to open them
I need a mod to free my comment
little spicy is all
I wanna know what I did to bother auto mod
might be a word or emoji
Im not talking about logging rewards etc. Im talking about giving us something fun to do. Imo they keep us busy with restricted storage, you have to spent forever to jungle everything around deciding what to keep, what to sell, what to store in your machines.
They keep us busy with waiting 1 rl hour or day to be able to talk to npc for the friendship/romance quest.
They keep us busy with caps to work around. Item caps, storage caps, room caps, flower caps
I understand we need caps but i would like some fun things along with that.
Storage limits and caps etc are there with a hidden reason... If they raise it there's a chance at the time it'll break some code
Code breaks game breaks that's why in some games later life they expand on the original caps
I'm still ticked off that switch's art looks so bad tbh
No mods no rules... There are finished models for silver and gold chests so clearly they are or were planning on a bigger storage for example (it's on the art station 3d modellers so no shady works here)
Like i said i understand the limits but that doesnt mean its has to be al, there is to do when online. Give us something fun to keep us busy
That's why I'd hoesntly like to watch longer between patches IF they make it worth it. Give actual interaction with a group temple maybe you can rotate the puzzles and such around weekly and sure it isn't a great idea long term but it's a start and they can reuse the current work
If you check the paliapedia unobtainable tab you can see everything they already coded in game. For now browsing through there is the only incentive for me to still play this game
I’m seeing this late but wow this is funny but insane. You had everyone in the palm of your hands
I mean, time locks are fine imo...it's a story game if you can just blast through it as if their lives were passing by in seconds it would lose a lot of the drive of the gameplay.
For me personally, spreading out the story keeps the gameplay fresh because I still get little story infusions to break up gameplay even still now when I started playing at launch of beta.
I do agree, the game needs to focus on gameplay...if that's what you mean by "fun"
I really wish they'd give us a "Stardew Cave" type cave diving situation with rare resources becoming more common the further down you go. Would also like to see temples get a door in them that leads into a dungeon type puzzle/combat environment we can do every once in awhile.
Especially since we know they plan to add some kind of combat system.
Yeah but it's a no no topic for me to bring datamined up around here so I covered myself xD since sometimes people think OH BUT when it could of been something in testing internally and might not make it to the game anytime soon or at all
Alot if games have hidden items that never made available to players and they just sit in the code forever unused
Yes thats exactly what i mean by fun 👍
Yeah, I agree. Like closest we get to anything actiony with a group is hunting and well...you don't really need a group except for the magic mujinn but we have like zero reason to hunt them
But it doesn't even need to be actiony, imo, we just need systems that are a bit more deep and less cursory.
Like I have my most fun in this game decorating because it allows my brain to turn on.
Fishing never really gets hard consistently enough for me to feel it's "fun" as much as just going through the motions. Mining, foraging, etc...just turn my brain off and listen to a podcast or something lol.
Hopefully Elderwoods gives us some kind of more focused "end-game" "hard" or "fun" stuff as its core input.
I'm highly solo play since I'm on at silly hours, but I'd love to see actual group content and it doesn't have to be based around the skills
True, but still cause of that site i knew about the sernuk plushies weeks before the release an that made me wanna stay.
Its not that because its on their i think im 100% entitled to it. I know its a gamble if it actually makes the game
I think Cake parties is solid group content as a base...and frankly it's about as intensive as a Raid in WoW LOL because WoW Raids you just memorize the pattern, turn your brain off going through the motions, and then chat.
Yes, i feel exactly the same
I let my brain rot dying wow raids I just knew my own job and ignored everything else
if others didn't know what to do not my problem :v
However they could certainly build on that foundation to make more intensive group content for cooking. Such as tasks that may need a specific pattern or two people in one mini-game and so on.
Yeah there's a few things I've seen there that's got me hyped af but I also know sometimes... Sometimes they won't make it into live or even beta
Also I wouldn't say it's everything, but it is certainly things that are obtainable that can be logged by that system.
I also feel sorry that the temples are only used for the quests. Would be fun to forage or fish rare items there
My biggest qualm is they made probably the prettiest and most interesting areas in the game...and we go there once...maybe twice for a follow up quest.
(Although water temple needs a redux the others are like LEAGUES better)
I wish they'd reuse all those assets or rooms for repeatable content.
Like maybe we can collect chests in there once a week with some loot and a chance at a rare item.
Like I redid a WoW dungeon with my brain turned off solo to try to get Ravenlord mount...like....400+ days in a row till I got it...and it's at least something
Then they added a flyable version and I straight up just quit the game
Yeah the fact temples are a 5 min in and out thing are very dissapointing :/
Gales only takes so long since its a buggy nightmare
Like would love one of those side doors to lead to some puzzles that switch out every week or into a dungeon with some combat when they add that.
Like maybe there are shadows in the temple we need to clear, and we do some platforming while clearing away the enemies and then at the end you get a chest loot box that renews once a week....throw in a big shadow boss...poof done. Especially if they can add like a variant set theme'd to each element
I have been going back to the Temple of roots a couple of times because i couldnt believe there wasnt something else hidden there. So beautifully made and so empty....
Even the platforming arcade machine realm thing just needed a reward for completion each week
Å good middle ground would be just reuse some of the puzzles from the temples but you can bring friends so example.. I might be good at sliding puzzles but terrible at jump puzzles. So I can bring someone good at that and together we can progress together and get something even as simple as rare resources
Yeah the fire temple and temple of roots are so cool, feels like a total waste of assets that we don't get to go back regularly
Especially when there are so many doors that could go to more locations.
Im just hoping they go back to it when we get combat, I assume with Elderwoods or when that staff thing we technically compeleted but didn't get with the bundles is granted to us formally
Maybe the next update or two, I'm assuming they want to target summer for a big update like Elderwoods, but only really depends when they have it done
You have great ideas!
Im just opting for the Elderwoods to explore and Bahari city!
I want Bahari City, but maybe later. I'd rather get like Harvest Meadows or Umbra mountains before we go to Bahari only because Kilima still needs to be built and adding Bahari would be a lot of work that could be used on Kilima to get it wrapped.
Unless they hit a "bandwidth" cap on Kilima and can't add much more to it or Switch will melt. Then yeah, I'd hope they add Bahari city so we have a different population center with characters. If Kilima can still be added to a lot? I'd rather see it get built out as much as possible: Docks are dead, bridges are broken, lots of places for houses that are just empty and no villagers, Subira is still hanging out in a room.
Bahari City would be cool, I'd love a little townhouse to decorate the inside and outside on a cozy little side alley. I love city environments and some kind of like snaking cobble street old city would be so adorable
Did you see the Temple area behind the bookcases in the ancient library? If you try hard you can get over the pile of rubble and into the area behind. Its a huge Temple with lots of big doors
Huh, I have not. Do you know of any media that has someone going back there?
No, i figured it out myself....
Ah, well maybe I'll get bored and try.
I wouldn't take too much stock in stuff like that it could just be a nice backdrop and nothing else.
I also think they are just "slotting in potential paths" IF they can get back to a place and expand on it.
Although they didn't do that with the wind temple which is strange but they can just give us a warp to a new sky temple
It has an area where you fall through the floor and you can see the whole lay-out in the sky while falling
Huh, nice. Yeah, I'd love for all the ruins to just be temples in the vein of a dungeon. On top of getting a cave for spelunking/mining
The Bahari cave...um...leaves something to be desired.
It's cute, but it's like 1 big room.
Maybe the whole "shadows in the cave" thing may end up being combat if we go deeper.
I wonder how much of the game they are holding back because they need combat to be finish and combat is a lot of work if it's action combat. I don't expect it to be that robust given it's a cozy game....but given how we move around I'm hoping it's more akin to Breath of the Wild flippy swordplay/arrows, aerial slowmo, etc.
sry my mind went to Plato and the Allegory of the Cave
Ohhh i want my lynel bow then 🤩
lol, poor Hodari has not yet seen the truth of the world
Im just hoping it isn't too rigid. The game seems to be going for that "free movement" thing with the climbing and gliding...hoping combat feeds into that. Also double jump PLEASE lol
Something i really miss is being able to shoot our bow when flying
Yeah, an aerial bow shot would be great. Having to wait to get to the ground, roll, THEN shoot is a bit dull
Not to mention youre scaring the critters lol
Im just curious what that staff is supposed to be, Im assuming combat will be more related to melee because of all the Sifuu references to swords and such.
Is that staff going to be for combat? It could just be a key item tho. Like you just wave it near objects to activate them or if you are holding it you can double jump or something.
Doesnt necessarily need to be a magic staff that shoots projectiles of gives you magic powers....as coool as that would be
I just wanna be a druid with some nature powers, let me grow flowers behind me as I walk like Okami haha
Also I wish more games used the Okami model for Cozy games. Just having areas getting taken over by darkness that you return to normal is a simple but fulfilling loop.
I just think the things they think to keep us busy with are not very creative. Keeping someone busy getting a proudhorn plush just by making it a 0,00000001 chance to drop isnt my kind of fun
I still have yet to get elder plush lmao
I mean, tbf it's the only reason I hunt at all so it's doing something. Prior to that plushie I just didn't even shoot an arrow unless I had to
we will probably find out what the staff is for in the next story update which I personally expect to be the june patch
could imagine that it will be ours to keep and that a tutorial trial opens in the night sky temple for it, they changed the door symbol with the patch that added the 4th temple
Yes but after 300 horns and 1000s of arrows are you having fun?
Yeah, Im thinking June-August we see some substantial pushes towards a launch product. Although if they are shooting for a PS5 launch (which I hope so because it's a console that would actually keep the visual quality of the game) they may stretch it out
I mean, I think shooting arrows is more fun than not shooting arrows while running around. But I don't really "grind it" as much as just shoot deer along my path towards my actual goal, I wouldn't think if it was fun if my only task for hours was culling deer. LOL
I mixed it up by bug catching and mining in between of hunting plushies
Im wishing for a new Switch release, not sure how long they can keep this 2017 tech around
Yeah, same, I also don't really farm (I'm a beta launch player so my inventory is stacked, I don't need money and I have way too much stuff) so I only leave my plot if I need something for decor/building or the weeklies for guild currency...so when Im going for the grove to get the magic tree weekly done I will shoot every deer along the path.....or mining, etc.
As long as we're taking breaks and mixing it up, I still find that fun imo for me
I mean, it's still a skill shot mechanic that can be satisfying when you hit those long lobs
I finally got the proudhorn plush last week. I have been hunting Non stop since their release.
I was startung to think the proudhorn was Non existent tbh
Sniping the last shot on an Elder over a hill is satsifying lol
I got the Order from gambling and still have yet to get anything but the base Proudhorn plushie, no disco deer or elder
I'm still proud of myself the more I practice shooting arrows at them to the point, where I managed to do the longer shot if they far away from me lmao
tbh I'm not seeing a 1.0 launch anytime soon, maybe the want to with a new zone but doubt that the game will be in a state that would justify a 1.0 version
but yeah patch schedule should be
june or july: story
the other one filler with housing stuff(maybe they will also finally manage to add the community stuff they announced way back in august)
august: event for summer
september/october: new zone
I have 7 normal, 2 elder, 2 order and 1 proudhorn now... And im already thinking what if they release a muujin plush 😳
also not me being totally biased for a september patch new zone launch bcs the patch will very likely happen on my birthday

Yes, thats very satisfying!
Either way, combat actually really isn't the solution for me personally, like I played hundreds of hours of stardew and combat was basically a tedious grind in that game where you spam one button.
I think they need to focus more on plot management and cooperation, specifically a community/group plot that requires much larger inputs
As well as deeper professions like maybe T2 set of gardening is herbs and alchemy is added and the herbs are actually way more reactive and not just "water these till grown"...and may need more thought put into them. Such as some can't be near others, you water every other day or they wilt and delay harvest, etc. Little things where my brain actually has to think about a task.
And then obviously....farming as a profession with animal husbandry and the ability to ferment things like soy sauce, make butter, cheese making and all the rest of that.
If they add enough tasks I REALLY hope eventually we can specialize and focus down a specific type of thing and trade for the others with our community or something. Everything should be doable but if you want to do one task well I wish they'd give us ways to really incentivize picking a profession over asking us to do everything every day all the time....like maybe you can only get 1 weekly for 1 profession (not skill, profession) at a time that you pick by talking to the profession villager and it's just like a quest from them each week that's just a resource sink.
Because the skills are neat but outside of making the mini-game harder there ain't much more to do there. Like with fishing make the fish harder in Elderwoods but like, what else can they do? Add a fishing version of honey lure? Bait bucket? You'd need like a whole boat and deep sea fishing and diving with swimming to even suggest some kind of complexity for fishing
Spoiler the ormuu and chicken (picqu or something) and their pens are in the code already
Yeah, Im aware, but who knows how long that will be. Also chicken coop is the lowest effort. I'm hoping we get barn + ormuu as well. Breeding and selling cattle, milking, dairy processing are a lot more intensive. Not much you can do with chicken coop other than "feed them some veggie regularly to get eggs to come out"
Yeah, Im really hoping when we get launch they add a more interesting home plot because this plot AINT it.
It's a hole in the ground. It definitely reads "starter plot" which is fine, but I hope we get more options soon. I really don't like the home plot look, just me in a hole surrounded by cliffs.
I've seen evidence of a community plot system but who knows how that will work or if it will really be feasible solo.
yeah but again, just mean WHEN is the opportune issue. Could give us chickens and then half a year later we maybe get Ormuu. vs it all dropping at once.
I would love a community plot. Decorating together and everything
Yeah, don't have to be on it's just accessible as long as a community member is online.
Although curious how intensive the grind will be because I would like to just start a community with friends but none play regularly so it'd be me mostly going at the community grind solo. If it's balanced to 25 people grinding no way I'd get anywhere lol. Would be cool if it just increases the grind per community member at like intervals of 5 so small communities aren't punished
Yea, thats the problem. When?? Will we still be here or are we bored to death or so stressed out cause of storage problems we just quit and never come back
I mean, it's no fomo so quiting and never coming back isn't somehting Im really tabling. I table it for FOMO games because of not only the stress FOMO induces and its negative impacts on my life, but also the fact why would I go back to a game that Im now eternally behind on?
Like once you quit WoW getting back into WoW is a pain in the butt, your guild is dead, you've got nobody at endgame, etc.
This game? Just log in, do the new stuff. Easy...maybe grind a bit of gold to pay for it if it requires that....but if you logged off because you had nothing else to do you probably have plenty of gold and things to liquidate.
Like while I still haven't finished SOME tasks, like getting all starred bugs, my main task is actually just filling up my inventory with the most expensive things possible and trying not to hit gold cap along the way so I can have as much liquidity for when they DO drop a gold intensive grind to get ahead of that.
Like if they add farming and a barn costs 200k gold. Boom done. Or that new 2 story house.
Also decorating, decorating is probably the most time intensive thing in the game. The grind to make everything + building, etc.
If there wasn't a flower cap I'd still be decorating, and if they remove it I have a lot of work to do. Otherwise I just decorate when I get a rare object or they drop new stuff
So I'll probably make a plot or replace a plot building with the new 2 story building which will give me at least likely 20 hours of content/goals
I guess it also depends on your personality. I dont have much FOMO. Im more the person who logs in everyday to do the community chores to help others, big responsibility issue
Oh same, if this game had community quests I'd be focusing those down
But I guess for WoW because of how long I played the community I had moved on and eventually so did I.
For games like Valheim Im the "organizer, farmer, architect" type who just sits at home preparing it for when they get back from going out on the adventure lol. Designing and filling up a chest full of supplies is my fav lol
I made my own community on palia after the 2 i was in had nobody left online but me.
You sound like a very valuable teammate!
The whole flowers messed up my whole game. My game on switch got so laggy it was unplayable. So i removed lots of stuff from my plot to get rid of the lag.
Resulting in 1 demolished plot and one plot with no decor only buildings.
Yeah I'm shocked switch can run plots my main plots are packed with stuff no clue how a switch runs it when my switch ran hot and lagged looking at my Animal Crossing island and that was fixed camera.
Probably... XD
Does anyone know the drop chances of all the normal gemsstones compaired to the star versions by chance?
Never seen this plushie before it's called Me N' My Honeybunch.
I got 2 early on and have seen at least one in less than 5 homes.
Starstones:

This are a little off in the rarity department, but as for how many rocks or such until you get a star version? That's all up to chance at this point... XD
there... jasper? I never gotten that ;o
so im missing ruby and jasper then (and emerald)
Any purpose for the starstones?
What to do with them?
Star quality ones are for decoration, the other ones you can sell but I'd keep the rarer ones. One or two you need for quests etc... Also, most villagers like to get their starstone as gift.
Thx, how to use for decoration?
You can place the ones in star quality (you'll see a little star on their icon) like any other placeable item.
It looks like the stones in the image here.
Did anyone else here love the wind temple?
a lot of people hated it actually 😬 because too confusing/too much difficult platforming/too buggy (thankfully the bugs seem to be almost all fixed now). i thought it was fine personally but i had to use a guide to find all the evidence, treasures and eggs, and i don't think following a guide is much fun
Oh I just had the map thing show me the areas because I didn't realize I needed all that for the quests lol. But I'm used to platforming like that because of zelda tears of the kingdom
i loved it despite the flaws, though yea i like to not use a guide and gales had me looking (didn’t help we didn’t have a map so is why i resulted to one)
i hope with time as they adjust temple(s) as needed it’d be fun :)
it does seem like they moved in the right direction with the temple of roots. at least
haven't really seen any complaints about that one, nor many people coming in here asking for help because it's too confusing or buggy like they still do with the temple of gales
i haven't actually done the temple of roots yet. will finally do it after tuesday's update raises the renown cap
looking forward to it!
In my opinion, roots was a serious improvement compared to gales. There was one frankly frustrating part, but even that seemed to get easier as I kept failing (and dropped me at the right spot at the end)... Plus, I managed to walk past a bunch of annoying jumps, the path was hidden but not impossible to find.
What crafter would you guys say makes the most passive gold? I’ve heard preserve jars and worm farms are the best in high multiples. But I just wanted to see what everyone was using to make that bank. Especially mid game where I believe I kind of am after 6 days.
If you have Rubies... I'd appreciate getting them~ XD
i have about a billion ancient chest in which i cant sell but they take up so much space, as well as the wallpapers from NPCs early game that you cant sell either. any advice on what to do with them?
Throw them in storage; furniture (like the chests), wallpaper, and flooring don't take up any actual space
oh really? ive been putting them in regular chest
They are considered as furniture which is unlimited in game
I do love that all of our chest are linked together and already come with a menu to sort the items. I hate trying to sort out chest and needing to run to a specific spot to get my stuff, so I just put chest all over my housing plot lol
It only becomes a problem when you have a lot of stuff in storage, especially furniture
You wanted to say "shut down" but typo made it into "poop down".
Thank you naz for letting me know
You can also always delete them!
I would love some help with this! Did you ever make a guide for this?
Oh?! I didn’t know you could. Ive never seen how
Question- when does the temple of roots tree start giving drops to have flow trees on your plot?? It's been a handful of days at this point since I've gotten it and having it on my plot but nothing's happened/I haven't gotten anything from it
OMMMMMG nevermind lmao did more wiki digging
Why is Tish's shop so dark?
You need to move them into your actual inventory, then open inventory via menu and you will have an option to delete items from there.
I have a few saved in my storage and any more I get recently, I instantly delete lol. I need that space for more mats or I wouldn't be out here in Bahari anyway.
I did!
Liked all of them but that was the best one (also fire)
Has anyone else noticed a weird growling/roaring sound that can sometimes be heard in the distance? I’ve heard it in both Kilima and Bahari Bay so I don’t think it’s one of the animals. Any theories or what is it?
Maybe the Elderwood Beast? Haven't heard anything myself but it would make sense for that kind of sound
Just had my Shepp ceremony with Jina! The cutscene was great, and the "Welcome Home!" at the end made me grin.
I thought this was kind of a muujin in the distance sound. It started (again) when the muujin were back after an update. I noticed in kilima you hear this when you’re near-ish the bahari entrance.
i've heard it - figured it was just another glitch
Can you not display your star quality horns??
i have like 6 preserve jars going and YEAH they give me a lot of gold (and save so much time i'd otherwise spend cooking 👍)
i also exclusively make star quality preserves which makes them sell for even more. a full stack of star quality apple jam goes for like $4k
literallyy- so many buildings are SO dark inside. i was so grateful for the brightness adjustment feature 😭 her shop, pavel mines, and my own house are the worst imo
I've found the last thing needed for the bundles, and I'm coming to the realization that there's... really nothing left for me to do. I don't care for decorating and that's like 90% of the endgame content so... I guess I wait now.
It may be a good time to seek out a new hobby 🙂
I tend to hear it around midnight in game, I always thought it was the flow trees getting flowy
Might go back to playing Splatoon, and just check in to do the new friendship stuff.
Good luck and have a great time!
1 day until update
I can't wait for Minecra- I mean Palia building blocks!
Who says it wouldn't be like Fortnixx a particular shooter builder game
I'm wondering if/how the building blocks will factor into the plot limits.
Pretty sure they'll count as furniture, so unlimited.
I could see some maniac filling their entire plot with building blocks now up to the max vertical height and it's something I'd love to see.
Unlimited how? Furniture is 3000 max
i feel like they will go into the plot limit tho, so you’d have to think what you’d want
What am I thinking is unlimited on plots then?
like to your building stuff first then everything thing else
Furniture is unlimited in storage, 3000 when placed
OHH!!
It has been way too long since I've played.
Then it's time to come back to the game
We need moar people
I like the community but I've been having a hard time finding motivation to game in general. Just too busy spending time with my daughter or with other hobbies.
At some point they adjusted max vertical height back up to 40+ from the 15 they had us capped at
god moring every1!
In what timezone will the 0.180 patch maintenance be done?
it say in da announment. itz put in what timezone ur in but i think it in utc?
Time shown in #📢│palia-news is local to you
Better clear some inventory
You'll probably need that stone for the 2 story harvest house
Oh I have so much more stone
I'm a resource hoarder...but also my furniture making is lvl 175 ...bring on the update!
Thanks!!
Ah yeah I was near the Bahari entrance when I heard it. Makes sense!
I honestly hope they change it, because I miss the music and ambiance of Bahari. Now all I hear is howling and moaning the entire time, and it kind of ruins the vibe for me
Yeah I heard it around midnight at Hodari's place, too
(...
)
It took me way too long to get what you meant
Hahahhahhahaaa
Ho...Hodari? Is that you?
I agree. I don’t like it either.
are paths coming out tomorrow?
thought i ask, the gf has been playing palia forawhile now with no guild/family recently she's interested in joining one, are there any active guidls recruiting not sure if this is the right room to ask?
You should check the #1135682474324807681
@daring gyro Yeah I believe it was either Glow Worm Farms or Preserve Jars thata give the most gold, but I don't have enough of 1 crop to allow for 7+ jars haha, I'd have to just plant 1-2 specific crops, which I guess isn't terrible lol
Do we have any idea on how much the Grand Harvest House is going to cost us tomorrow?
I'm at 18.5k...
Think that's enough?
should be :D hopefully lol..
I'd assume 150k because the Harvest house is 60k
Which would be two harvest houses and change because it's a bit wider
Even thought that isn't how housing cost actually works
So maybe 100-120k
But given it's kind of a premium flex to have it they may be ok with it being more of a grind...especially since they are buffing income for a lot of activities
And I can make 150k in a few days right now so like....not much of a grind
Either way, I'd target at least double the Harvest house cost
Does anyone know what timezone the downtime is in?
I'm assuming utc
I just hope they fix the 'Housing Plot is Full" bug from having too many trees on other plots
First time that i saw this. I'm Brazilian and i don't get it this hate.
No way it's going to be THAT MUCH right off the bat...
Can you share how you make this much per in a few days?
the base one first harvest house costs 10k so probably 20k, around the same price as the courtyard
just realized that the chat is in Portuguese, but explaining what happened: a girl joined the server, shared the location of the Grove, and said she would cut it at 1am. She didn't wait for anyone else and went to another server to do the same.
Does this happen often? Do you have these types of problems over there too?
How are you only at 18k? After you get farming, making gold is super easy. Heck you can chop trees and mine ore and make twice that in a day.
I'm capped right now and I have 1 mil in apple seeds in storage.
How long have you been playing?
I think about 7-8 months
Probably less since I keep leaving for weeks at a time. Mostly i just log in for my farm and log out.
I've been playing less than 2 months and have only just started to accumulate a little wealth. I went on a work trip and now that I'm back, I don't feel like playing it as much as I was before.
I lasted as long because I redid my main plot so many times, but now that is finished. I literally have nothing left to do.
It's a beautiful game, but it's really not that fun if you are always playing alone. At least, that is how I feel about it.
All my friends stopped playing. I log in once in a while when new stuff comes out. But now that I can't decorate any because of the tree in every plot bug, I am pretty much done until it is fixed.
yeah that can happens on some servers.
That stinks. I hope they fix it.
Growing apples and hunting deer
Seeds or jam or both?
Row corn, row apples, row watering plants, row apples, row corn. Then jam and then worms
If Im actively playing (like 4 hours) I just hunt and come back to the plot to auto-water and then go back out
The 6 apple trees produce about as much as 9 because of the corn
Just leave the corn and other crops up until trees are done watering then harvest the whole lot at once, rinse repeat.
Sell fertilizer from jams and try to use golden worms for fishing and sell those.
Even on a slow day that's like 30k an irl day
If that's the case, then only a few G left to go! 🔥
🔥 (I hope...)
I forget my housing prices are adjusted up because I buy them
Whenever I hit the cap, I would buy more and more rooms. Nothing much else to buy other than stuff from the Underground.
same, Yeah not sure what a normal harvest house costs anymore
Bought at least 4
I was surprised to see them cap at 9, considering I had 10 plots and more than one harvest house per. Not sure if the new one is an addition, like the bay windows, or a new type of independent harvest house.
tbh i think it just depends what ppl wanna do, for me gold isn’t a big issue, i don’t play a lot and only have the 3 plots you get so i usually have 10k on me at least, i also buy a zeki coin every other day when i can
Total number of Zeki coins I have purchased since I started playing, 5, all were seeds, arrows or other useless items. Now I settle for the daily one that cost me 20G. If you stopped buying Zeki coins, you would haver a full farm and making enough money to buy more coins each day. There are farming setup where you only need to log on and log off. I only harvest my apples and that isnt every often.
mhm i get the 10k one and the daily one too, i wait til i get about 40 or when there’s a big content update and then spend it
oh for sure, i just don’t do farming/ cooking a lot in the game so it’s whenever, again gold isn’t my end goal so i just do whatever lol
It's all about having fun. Do what makes you happy.
Is there a way to get behind the wall to the circulair fishing area?
there’s been ppl able to get up top, some posted pics in here i think or you can look at youtube
What do you mean on top?
Where in the HELL did all these DAMN BRIAR DAISYS go! I keep seeing them in little batches of ONE! 🔥
🔥
I pick them all but one just to annoy you mwuhahaha. Lol
You little sneak thief... How dare! 🔥
🔥
(I need literally ONE MORE for a Tish quest...)
Probably should watch your language
Request it?
I found one! REJOICE! 🔥
🔥
Hooray
Sweet relief...
Now to go sell all these shiny gems and put my star Aquamarine and Citrine on display~
Heck yeah! Now at 36.5k gold!
the last time people taking the groves like this was commented on I got attacked by 4-5 ppl for saying something about them being toxic for doing this. not many people seem to care about this bad behavior, be careful.
No one is going to stop a stranger on the internet from bad behavior. It's best just to ignore it and move on otherwise it will just stress you out and drive you crazy. People can be very mean but that usually stops when they don't get a reaction.
i have a non starred ruby drop and i can’t stand to sell it. :((
Bit 4k gold for tomorrow though...
Save it for a Tish quest
Which Tish Quest? Lv. 4 Relationship?
The newest friendship quest. Will have Level 5 once completed
Need a Ruby for the potion
I’d only found 1 myself and it was starred. Really didn’t want to use it for the quest. I finally requested one out of desperation but honestly didn’t figure it’d be filled. I was lucky. Some angelic soul delivered.
do we know if there will be a reward/prize for playing hotpot in the black market?
Unlikely
why u says that as if u know that?
I hope there will be reward / prizes for playing hotspot lol
bcs its just very unlikely, the most I personally expect is maybe an achievement for playing 10times that grants 5 zeki coins
If they HAVE to keep to the current functionality with a score and reward system - maybe they will replace Maji market coupons with zeki coins or a new intermediate currency for an alternative route to buy zeki coins in the underground.
Whatever they choose to do we will find out when the patch hits
so is there a reason that the chapaatail, tiger lily, and anemone flowers act like solid objects that cant be walked through?
That happened after the last update but the team is aware of it. Hopefully corrected tomorrow
ah okay i just finished getting all the flowers i wanted so i was very confused
ive made 150 palium bars can i get blessed with a ruby now please
i feel that pain - i'm a few hundred palium bars in over the last few weeks and while I've gotten 3 or 4 rubies in that time, I'm still waiting on a starred ruby to have found all the mining things
Your party posts can go in here
#1143270926394335282
yup - not posted multiple times in every channel regardless of relevance
also are they ever going to fix the invisible glider issue
I'm also still waiting on the starred ruby but ironically, also jasper. I found less jaspers in my life than rubies lol
the dog was flying there was nothing lol
btw thats an old SS I kept it its been 3 weeks I just saw it in my pc thought I'd give a share ^^
Got my first starred ruby at lvl 99 mining without using focus. Felt like Non existent that ruby
Yeah, I can relate
Congrats. I just found mine yesterday 🙂
I hope the chat bug gets fixed in the mainte
if anyone needs a regular ruby for that quest i probably have an extra
so what’s the word on the street about today’s patch?
It's coming soon. ~3hrs
While full details will come during the 3hr downtime, you can read/watch about nearly all the new things and the broad strokes of the economy changes via #📢│palia-news
Don’t they usually release patch notes at the beginning of maintenance? I don’t ever remember waiting until the end of it for the patch notes…
i hope they fix the 5 tree quests 😄
It's that timeeeee. #PatchBingo
Usually 30 minutes before patch/maintanence, so you can rush to sell all the stuff whose prices are being slashed. I hope they fix the all trees on all plots count or i can't decorate anywhere.
I’m an idiot and forgot to bring my switch with me to work so womp womppppp I’m stuck with whatever happens
Top of my list is for my chat to work when I log on
would love to have bigger chests ...i have to much things XD , maybe the option to sell your selfmade furniture would be nice to get money
I second that!
IM SO HYPE FOR THE NEW UPDATE !!!
i was just about to write the same thing, IM SO EXCITEEED!!
i haven’t been playing for the past 2 weeks because i haven’t really had alot to do in-game othet than decoration/bulding but with the new stuff i’m so ready to play
holy-
Muujin and Insect plushies! What?! The grind will be real
But.. Bluebristle

oh my god
And this
the new pets kinda gives Leafeon vibes, but even Leafeon are much cuter than them ngl 😄
green one is teh cutest, i expected a brown one :c
Yeah I like the green one best too.
I'm only sad that they are behind a paywall, otherwise I would have gotten them but nah..
uh he sit on glider
And books! Books are coming!
i wish they put the prices of starstones
OK I will admit the price of the pet and tool skins seem reasonable
New fencing!
Lots of we are aware and few we fixed. Still no word on the house plot is full bug from having every tree on every plot counted.
Oh this is great!
Muujin will now carry over their health even after escaping.
Previously, their health would be reset to full.
SO many new features that they didn’t mention in the dev note- like muujin plushies and insect plushies!!! i am personally obsessed with the ladybug one and will be needing at least 5 in my posession
I wish some head accessories could be worn with ingame hairstyles and not just set hairstyles for teh outfit... I'd love some butterflies on long untied hair
Also this:
Party members will now share loot for most gathering activities.
Players who are near their party members will now receive loot for actions their party members did - so if your friend can one-shot a Sernuk, you’ll share in on the loot. In addition, the loot dropped will be the same across each player. Yes, that includes Plushies! Skills this change applies to:
Woodcutting
Mining
Insect Catching
Hunting
finally
I just wish it included fishing as well tbh.
ALSO BOOKS WALKWAYS AND BUILDING BLOCKS my decorating dreams come true
and the shared party loot is huge and has been asked for for ages
i don't see that working
Wondering why not fishing if bug catching is allowed
because fishing works differently
I know it doesn't have a "bag" like other things, etc, but they probably could of implemented one. I'm just saying I wish it included fishing as well, since it would definitely help with accessibility-related accommodations.
And this!
We’ve removed more common drops such as Stone and Sapwood from Rummage Piles.
This and the renown increase are actually the highlights for me
no more single stone!
AND PLUSHIE RATES FROM ZEKI IS INCREASED!
Yeah I'm not sure?
Idk how to explain it. Fishing is RNG and it's your own thing, while bug catching is something that you do together like gathering, you see the bug but maybe you dont have the chance o hit it cuase it's a one hit or you didnt aim well. It's just different...
Ooh!
As part of our Economy Update, trees will now have a rare chance to drop amber to help incentivize this Skill as a means to earn some gold.
The following items are now available:
Oak Amber
Birch Amber
Juniper Amber
Pine Amber
Hmm so amber differs depending on tee
that's cool, i thought it was gonna be just Amber
but how would that work? I wanna know how you'd see that working. Like, your friend catches a fish and you automatically get it too? or....
Not sure why it has to be different, cause they all have the same sell price, unless it has a purpose. It won’t stack well in the inventory
oh the price doesnt vary?
They’re all 350 gold according to the notes
How the new skins will look on all tools
Wonder why the green is cheaper than the rest.
no glow/animation
Ah yeah
Sorry, I'm also sitting here thinking on it at the same time-- to have it more thorough w/ my thought process. Still a lil groggy & going over the notes a few times to properly process.
Even if you didn't get the same fish, since I can also understand it's both parties doing it at the asme time, different catch rates-- I can also see it to where it could help increase the other party members chance to catch the same fish?? (if it's a higher rarity/spawn % ... like if they got an ||ancient fish||, higher chance for you too?) But I can see that being flawed as well currently.
Or if only 1 person was fishing, could have it drop next to you as a "loot bag", similar to how hunting is, etcetc.
All-in-All, I just at least hope this means they're looking more on the accessibility side of things, and find a way to help those who need it for Fishing
I don't think it'd work 😦 fishing is way more individual than other skills but maybe a buff similar to the one we already have for fishing ner people could work
All of these outfits are great! I'll have a hard time choosing
I mean that buff already exists right now lol
omg there's so many good changes in these patch notes!!!
i said something here but forgot to quote u @fiery perch
sorry, i meant something similar to the one we have xD
Man normally like go with pink, but the gold tools are pretty nice
Flower collision will be fixed for those who were asking about that with this update.
They already have the buff to bite quicker, but that isn't really enough to help accommodate those who need it. But a lot of this also depends on how they have it programmed, etc. Esp since Fishing is one of those that a lot of people can't do.
Again, I understand why it's not there, and I can get why it's "different" in a lot of ways. Just wishing there was a bit more to help accommodate is all!
I'm just glad in general that the other stuff is there to help those who need it, though! And to have more of a "reason/purpose" to play with one another! Like heck yeah, lets help get bugs or hunting stuff
Yeah i meant something similar :c
oh nooooo gotta change my gardening layout now
Doesn't look like this one will be though for those players.
We’re aware that some players are experiencing issues completing the “Prove Your Devotion” quest requirement to “Plant five wild trees on your plot”.
The picket fence is a nice little extra
omg finally you can see which pebbles you've given einar
Maybe one that makes reeling easier, that "tames" the fish or something, for those who find fishing difficult.... Otherwise i don't see how that would work with a skill based on rng :c Just making it phisically easier
Chat should be fixed with this update 🤞
Fixed some instances in which players were unable to send chat messages and/or see new ones being sent.
However, we are aware there are some overlapping bugs and this issue may still persist for some players.
Like, the thing about fishing (in almost every game) is that it takes time and patience and it can be super relaxing for many people. The problem comes when it's too hard/fast or the mechanic doesn't adapt to some people. That could be helped
Okay so with the new amber coming from trees and Muujin Plushies coming as well, there will be lot's more flow spawning
I finished it and had to put in several tickets to get my item and renown but it still shows up as undone.
HUH
i'm talking about the patch notes. the patch hasn't happened yet but they also say the achievement should unlock more reliably now
thats why you use the items the game gives you to help with that
i also haven't got that achievement yet despite giving him all 10 pebbles, so fingers crossed i'll log in and get it!
BOOOOKKKKSSSSSSSSS
i was just trying to understand and find a way they could include fishing in that list but as i said i don't think it'd work xD
also muujin's HP doesn't reset anymore when they go into trees 😭
that will be great

Like, you see the bug, you gonna catch and throw the ball or you try shooting muujin but you dont get to hit, but they give you the loot for trying, awesome! Fair! But giving you loot for somethig someone else fished wouldn't work :((( Even if you're in the same party
So they're not fixing the prove your devotion quest? RIP new players.
I'm just going to agree to disagree.
Yeah I saw the post about the plush drops and was like what?! Then I read that, so that will be so much better!
Idk what else to say, i'm sorry 😦
I'm also glad that the Chat Bubbles are going to have a toggleable option to turn on/off, and have settings to change font size, etc. That's nice! I'm hoping this also means it'll work for the chat box too, or that it'll end up being worked towards that
thats sad, i cant complete these quests , and i did everything i read about wath i can do ,.......
I told everyone I know was stuck that it might be fixed with this patch. Oof.
Me too, I’m not a big fan of it in the first place so I’m glad it’s toggleable
Im glad s6 listens and doesn't force the bubbles on us all
Maybe they couldn't nail down the issue in time. ||or they laid of the person who could.||
I'm glad the bugs that drop the plushies won't be hard to find
Garden Ladybug Plush
Lunar Fairy Moth Plush
Proudhorned Beetle Plush
Lantern Bug Plush
Yep! It's something that I'd like sometimes, but other times would find it too overstimulating/distracting! So it's suuuper nice.
I think the bubbles will be great in parties. I'll probably keep them off though. There's enough visual clutter on Switch.
I really want a mantis plush though, any kind! I need a stick bug plushified in my house asap
Im terrified of the plushie bug hunters since no word on that crash fix, but if anyone sees this do not move when placing lures it crashes people around you we just wanna run away
I will enjoy the chat bubbles, I was used to those from other games I play.
"[PC] Additional graphics settings have been added."
I'm also quite curious as to what these settings are. I kinda wish it was included in the patch notes.
So no fix for the Prove your devotion quest...nice
Its probably a harder fix like the dirt piles on one type of tree
And glad to at least see the jump between the previous cap to the new cap, is quite large for Renown! I mean, gold cap too, but specifically the renown
Yeah. Now I can sell my pickles and jams in peace (for now).
Since they changed tree growth which started all the problems, it could be left over code clashing with, future content involveing the items or mechanics....alot of things
It’s disappointing that the growing trees bug hasn’t been fixed, but it is a hard one. I wish they’d offer some workarounds like letting players pass that quest for now since it is gating a lot of them from continuing in the story
Its a beta just add a tree to talk to to trigger it or something with some funny line to it
To be fair, even the gardener's quest was busted for some people and that was added with the change.
I find it odd they can't just over ride it like you make a ticket support sees it and then poof bypassed for now
I mean I'm not a programmer or anything but
If tree = grown and quest != completed then tree count +=1
Or something seems simple enough
yes , it mean for now i cant progress in the story , thats not okay , a lot of players have this issue , we need a solution
IDK what to think about the changes to Worm Farms and Fertilizers.
Getting SpeedyGro from my glow worm farms was a big part of my gardening strategy.
QualityUp is pretty much useless for gardening at later levels.
But I guess we'll need to wait to see what the pricing & output changes are.
Even a skilled programmer can make mistakes .. tons of times I mistakenly use = instead of == and wonder why it errors out or does something unexpected .. and hours of scouring the code and I miss it and have to ask my brother to see if he can see something I missed
The problem is, before the tree change, you'd just plant trees and they be fully grown. The concept of actually growing trees wasn't added until the temple of roots update. I guess they didn't think of how the new tree mechanic would affect that quest and here we are.
Yeah, curious to see optimal Garden/jar/worm farm money set ups. Been lazy mushroom feeding for months. (waiting for renown cap increase)
I vaguely recall reading somewhere that a fix (IIRC, I could be remembering completely wrong) was to make sure that you have 5 trees reach maturity at the same time and to make sure that you're on your plot at the time they mature... or something
I saw that on reddit. You have to stand on your plot with the trees growing for x in-game days until the trees are grown. Sounds annoying tbh.
Support doesn’t have that kind of power, only@gifting you items through mail which sucks
Hopefully that will be fixed today
I hate to break it to you....
@remote latch @rare pine
Fair points. But also if the problem is caused by a specific new mechanic then reviewing it to say
When tree = grown check the quest status and increment accordingly.
Again I know i'm over simplifying it's just a very annoying bug...
Hadn't gotten to the very last item in the patch notes yet
I'm sure they will get it fixed as soon as they can 🙂
Oh I feel you. A lot of us know a thing or two about being stuck on one quest because of a bug. cough Gales Temple cough.
I don't know whatever you are talking about
How about this: Fishing minigame. Something like Mario Party. When two or three players fish together, they drop a net instead of using their rod. The controls are right and left, and one person pulls. That way both get the same fish when looting, and it'd be easier wince the fishing area is bigger than using the rod. It could be a random event or players could decide if they do that or fish individually
I don't know what this original convo was about but a fishing minigame sounds fun LOL
That would be amazingg
Valk was wondering why they didnt do changes in fishing, like they did for hunting and bug catching (getting loot even if you dont get a hit), and i said fishing works differently and by rng and you couldn't just also get loot for soemthing your friend fished, and thinking of ways that's something that could actually work to make party fishing more immersive i think
I mean, for some people that would work. Just not for everyone. I can't properly comment on this right now, like more in-depth, since my thoughts are still muddled/groggy.
But if you want to continue this convo later, I'm more than happy/content to!
Oh, I didn't know you get loot if you don't hit. I still don't, at least. My partner and I party up often and we still have to land a hit to get loot.
I have nithing much to add tbh D: that's the best i could come up with, talking to a friend that's working in the videogame world
They'll change that today 😄
OH -bonk- Okay, that makes sense
Sad that the seed rewards for leveling up aren't retroactive 😔
I think for me, just having it help to be more accomodating for players who need it (whether that's accessibility wise, like... I can't really do fishing myself due to my disabilities), or those who just don't 100% like the skill, would be more beneficial. (Example: have it a bit more "automated"/"Afk". Where youre still spending the time for the fishing, including being in the area/at the fishing pole, or even a bit longer, but not having to hold or press the buttons for it.)
But, I do like the idea/concept of your group activity! Just giving a reason why it just wouldn't work for everyone. I just think that's really cute and definitely would help with the "Co-Op" feelings/vibe!
I just always look for more accessibility-related things for stuff, and accomodations, is all! & hopefully my tone comes across right throughout our whole convo, btw! Thank you in general for discussing this with me and even coming up with a really cute and lovely concept/idea too! Sounds like fun
!!
Okay they’re down now
22 fishes before i got ONE golden salmon… im screaming
I'm sorry to hear that 😦 Maybe they could come up with a way, or even making it more animal crossing-like, where you just press it and it reels automatically, but even like that, in an mmo... I don't see it happening. If it was a single player, for sure! But MMOs are complex when it comes to making everyone happy... Or maybe an accessibility option in the menu that you can check and makes the marker attach to the fish, in a way... I'm not sure how they could implement that in the game while keeping it balanced for everyone, but we'll see with time...
The minigame would be awesome yeah, super immmersive por parties 🥲
I'm glad to see all the quality of life chages that are coming to Palia.
That said, I hope it doesn't get so easy and streamlined that people lose interest in the game because they achieved everything so quickly;;;
That's where TERA Online really saw its downfall. They created too many shortcuts to make the game easier, and it got to the point where no one really spent time enjoying the game or working toward a goal (because it came so easy.)
FWIW I'm not the player who prefers a challenge for no reason, I'm all about chill, easy level, cozy gaming. And. I just want this game to thrive.
TERA reference 👀 wasn't expecting that today
I like the new party system. It'll definitely make hunting easier. My community was splitting hunting parties up into basically just 2 ppl, bc having 4 often meant scrambling to be sure everyone got a shot
the party changes are so damn good
Yeah, me too :c It's a chill game and there's no rush to get stuff, i feel like these changes are great but i've been having a bad thought after the layoff, and that's "what if they're doing this so people get things quicker so, if the game dies, the players don't feel like they've left things undone"? Does that make any sense? 😦
for real, shared loot? now i can help my sis hunt more
I'm not really sure why they upped Renown to 9,999. I mean you can get everything now for the max renown. Unless they are planning on adding things for renown that takes an enormous amount of renown it seems a bit silly to have raised it that high.
Hey
Does anyone in here have a line to question as to how we obtain the new "Structural Decor"? Asking for a lot of tiny friends ❤️
Because someone people are capped at 1k with the rest going to waste
I can definitely see where you're coming from. I really enjoy this game and I feel the pacing is actually really good right now. So I hope it doesn't get so easy that I run through each patch in a day.
As someone who has played MMOs for over a decade (no, I am not calling Palia an MMO) ... I find it VERY refreshing that I do not need to stress about grinding.
I quite literally can log in to enjoy whatever activity I feel like doing, instead of thinking about all the.. "unfinished" things.. because it didn't take me days or weeks to complete like.. basic things.
Yes, I get that but there is nothing to spend it on.. lol
Agreed
I can definitely agree with this! I for one don't care for an exhausting grind, especially when the payout is so little.
I just feel that Palia is already so well-paced. I only started playing when it launched for Switch and I'm swimming in renown and money that I don't know what to do with;;
well, they will probably add more items in the future, so it's a measure that won't be disadvantageous to those capped.
I don't have enough money...
yeah but there a ppl that don't play bcs they don't want to lose renown bcs there will be more for renown in the future
This
the building blocks? it doesn’t say so i’m gonna assume city hall? ashura likes building stuff so maybe him? we will have to see
For those who are sitting at cap, and don't want to see the renown, theyre getting now, just poof into the void. it's not a great feeling. This ofc doesn't apply to everyone, since some people don't mind, but there is a good chunk who didn't like seeing it happen.
Just bc there's nothing to spend it on now, doesn't mean there might not be in the future. It also feels like time is being "wasted", and (general we) like seeing progression. Seeing it rise up to the cap, at least helps that feeling & visual.
Very disappointed that hardly any of these "upgrades" apply to players whom have been playing awhile. They are more focused on rewarding new players only.
For me, it's all in the crops. I only plant high quality seeds and don't hold more than 30 units per crop. I sell the rest.
I have been playing since July and closed beta. I am capped at everything, with pretty much only missing 2 Makeshift items for 100% achievements.
I do not feel like I have nothing to do. So much to do.. and be chill while doing it
Maybe tish's shop. They might be craftable?
oh maybe
ashura has a nonfunctional register atm so maybe it'll be him. we'll see though
I thought so too and I find it upsetting.
Exactly, and u can always go but 70 harvest houses
My frustrations with this patch are 1) no increase in storage, but HERE'S MORE STUFF and 2) No increase for decor limits but HERE'S MORE SPECIAL STUFF FOR YOU DECOR PPL
plot twist reciepes are in bahari/kilima pile
I always thought that register was for the tavern and the rooms in it
god no
isn't that only for chests and storage price adjustment? or is there something else?
True, but counterpoint to 2):
I am not yet capped at my plot, but its already too laggy to load 🙄
We need more new players though and most of these rewards are so minimal that even if they gave it to older players they don't amount to much at our level. I like they are gearing it toward new players so maybe they will stay longer.
Yh, and what's with that book next to it with the names?
true, that could be it
They have the full list of patch notes on website. Looks amazing
Probably people that stayed in the rooms
Random names or real ppl?
i thought the book was a list of people who joined the game recently and i was waiting for mine to show up
I think it's that things are faster to craft, easier to make, cheaper to get, money drops in higher quantities, and more loot.
These are all things that would take you longer to amass in the current iteration of the game. I see this as a simplified verion of "get new players to end-game as fast as possible" which is a double-edged sword for the longevity of the game.
That would have been a cool quest. To have to go talk to Ashura and sign the guest book.
something to do with devs i think that worked on game? sometimes games leave easter eggs like that
grrr yeah >.< I was hoping there was a Modcat lurking who could poke the devs & find out for us
Oh ok ty
so was i
tbh I just want that grand harvest house porch on my regular harvest house.
If I remember correctly (don't quote me on this)
||I think it's the founding members of the project||
that’d be cool
ohh i see! It is true that it doesn't work that well for people that already have everything 😦 but it's unavoidable and it will be beneficial for us whenever we get more content!! (i hope LOL)
Increased gold in chests for them, Decrease in materials needed for building things (things current players have already built), Increase in gold reward for quests (I am one of many that has completed all quests), Free rooms, porches etc when reaching certain level furniture making skill (2-8 only), etc...there are so many geared for new players and nothing really for established players.
I want a counter when I hit H on my plot that shows me how close to the decor limit I am. And all other limits.
yas plss
i thought they were gonna give us the rooms and seeds too.... (the players that are already high level) as a compensation 😦
YES

I would have hoped to at least get something cool. Like
"We see you've capped at everyhting. Thank you for your contributions to Kilima. Here's a unique (deco/plushie/smth)."
I will scream if they give me gabbage again
I haven't read that anywhere. Did you?
That's the big hope here! I hope these changes also play into future content so it doesn't feel like just creating a slip-n-slide to finishing the game.
I really enjoy Palia and I'm eager for new content!
they do give the rooms, but not the seeds
I REALLY want to have pet Plumehounds!!!
The rooms ARE retroactive by patch notes.
if they add them it’s good bye money
the buildings are retroactive
I didn't see that. I will go back and look. Thank you!
Yep, I will pull out my wallet so fast
It was easy to miss
I have already warned my hubby that some serious money is getting dropped today. LOL! (He laughed and said "Oh. no!")
Also ZOMG - these came out of no where - like I don't even know what they are going to look like
The seeds they give out are not starred seeds so it won't really benefit older players. I always just sell my non starred seeds.
Can't wait to crank some 90s
I hope there are color options for the building blocks. I was really disapointed you couldn't color the conch shell.
fortnite i think they have a video with some? #📢│palia-news message
oh wait those are stones we only seen wood, oohh
if you plant normal seeds with a high enough gardening level - even without quality boost fertilizer - your crops will be star
So I do the opposite ❤️
Oh, I didn't see the stone mentions ... really makes me feel like that you won't be able to put wallpaper/flooring on them though. :[ and that's gonna be a huge miss imo if that's the case.
I hope you can and it's just not shown or mentioned in the notes.
Ah, 🙂 that makes sense. I'm going to try it
I wonder if those stone and wood crates act like storage where we can store our wood and rocks, thus giving us a little bit of additional storage?
Sadly I 100% agree with you there
But we won't know till we test❣️
Doubt that.
i don’t think so :/ looks purely decor
Darn.
Honestly would also love to see if you could get "labels" to put on some of the crates-- like to make a pretend farmer's market. It'd be so cute, too! The possibilities for them and deco ideas could be a lot.
But yes, won't know til people test! I just will admire the things other people will make with them.
Muujin and certain Insects will now drop plushies at a low chance.
The following items can be obtained from hunting their respective Muujin:
Muujin Plush
Banded Muujin Plush
Bluebristle Muujin Plush
180 MuujinPlushies R
The following items can be obtained from catching their respective Insect:
Garden Ladybug Plush
Lunar Fairy Moth Plush
Proudhorned Beetle Plush
Lantern Bug Plush
Has it been posted anywhere the drop rates on the plushies for the muujin and the bugs?
UGH, I'm not going to activily try for these. If I get them I do but otherwise that just feels like an extra grind.
Oh...my obsessiveness for the plushies will make me grind for them. LOL. Only after I build my new two story house.
i wish gift was an options... my mum will no let me haz stuff in palia 😿
Random question, I used my renown wherever I could and I don't have any more places to use it. does anyone know if there's anything planned? because they increased the max amount to gain but nothing said on where to spend it
I wish so too. Especially adding the plushies as a donation item. I have so many of the regular and proudhorn plushies, I would love to pass some on to others that haven't received one yet.
wow, I've haven't gotten ONE
I am in the same boat. I have bought everything I could with my renown and still maxed out with nothing to spend them on.
ya. i hop new plushies are no 2 hard 2 get
What's the point then lol
Naw - S6 (for whatever reason keeps their drop rates for some things pretty close to the chest)
seeing that I still haven't got sernek plushies I'm not holding my breath these ones will be any easier
See the drop rates on the sernuks are too high. I think they should be lowered significantly to encourage players to hunt more.
Though let me check my notes
I would love to share some of my plushies with you all. They need to add this as an option. There are people with MULTIPLE Cyls too that I am sure they would be happy to donate to those that haven't received one. The game is about working together and sharing. This should fall under that, in my opinion.
muujin plushie droprate will probably be the same as sernuks, bluebristle at 1/100 and the others 1/1000.
bugs, i'm not sure but i hope it'll be quite high. people don't usually go out of their way to catch a specific bug like ladybugs or lunar fairy moths
if i had to guess, maybe 1/100 for bugs
i have two plushies and cant seem to get.more no mstter what
I really really want the ability to share a plot with someone
Purpose of the rare drop plushies is to get players to grind to increase play time. Doubt they will let us just give them to other players - at least at this point in game developement. After lots of players went full time hunting sernuk plushies is was pretty clear S6 was going to capitalize on our plushie craze.
Lmao. Not me with zero of them
I feel like we'll be getting so much flow wood with people chopping trees to hunt mujin
Getting the plushies is definately a grind. It is a skill you have to focus solely on for a day or two and then you should start seeing them. I ran around with a hunting team and that is when I started to see them.
I've read the .180 update hotpot is back!! Yay.
I guess that's the way it should be. If we got everytihng in a few weeks we wouldn't play. This way when you get it then it will be seen as an accomplishment.
noting to spend on it atm afaik
I'm counting on the new party mode. Because seriously everybody else always got a plush or two during a hunt except me.
What characters do you guys think we will get in the future? I hope to go to the city
I wasn't here for hotpot, but I have been watching YouTube videos on it and I am looking forward to playing it.
i have bad social.skills and no friends really and bc i am a newbie i feel like ppl dont want to hunt with me
I need others peoples luck to also get one
