yeah it seems like its very community oriented but with a whole lot of limitations. like for instance if you are farming flow with friends and you have the exquisit axe then you cant share the small trees. So why not have an option to craft the fine (or lower level) tool(s) so you can still farm together. one example

the quests are single player, the party system is really buggy and annoying to use, the chat system is buggy and annoying, the only true mmo features i can think of in this game are cooking (which you can do solo with no real effort) and the grove, which would be a nice feature except that it feels out of place in a game that is so heavily solo (which is why it’s becoming more and more frequent that people tend to complain about solo/selfish players cutting them down without following etiquette)

It was implemented as a reward that you have a chance for as you play the game naturally, and they had no expectation or intent for people to grind for it. You could say, it's partly their fault for not understanding their player base WOULD grind for it, but it is correct it is the player's choice.

It's to the point where it's almost useless trying to get a Star Ruby or Star Emerald to complete my collection.
I'm getting more gold and silver, though, which is quite frankly useless to me. Can't even put them on display.

But you can use the silver to make Ore Compass and the gold for Honey Lure. And don't give up, it took me forever to get mine and I just got it 3 hours ago. And I have been farming it since they came out.

I've been playing for exactly 1 month now and am at Mining level 76. Still haven't gotten a quality version of those two gems.
And the Ore Compass is really useless for that, because all nodes have a chance to drop gems. Even the pal nodes are super-stingy, feeling like their gem drop rates are even lower than the others.
Like, I've got 300 pal- right now. I've probably had a few hundred more.
I'm just made at the lowered drop rates, so there's that ^_^;;;;

Just a month? Well, the drop rates for those two starred gems is very low. My mining is at 153. It was 70 when I started farming for the stared gems.

Worse than getting the plushies. I went from 52 to 102 getting all 4.

That is an excellent idea. You should use the Suggestion and send it to them.

For cooking you can get more of an item or better chances for it to be starred. Same for most of the skills. For fishing you can do rares, wider hook, faster speed, etc.

Is this based on something you believe or are inferring? Or is it something you were told? And if that's the case I guess that was ok'ed to share with the server?

I have to say it's hard to believe S6 didn't expect people to grind for them. They aren't exactly noobie gamers or reinventing the wheel with this game and given the thousands of players who immediately went out and engaged in mass sernuk slaughter it was pretty clear mass grinding was going to happen. Any players surprised by this result? It did accomplish something S6 needs - give players a reason to stay in the game and keep playing. Completion needs and/or FOMO are powerful motivators for players. Can't say S6 doesn't know that.

Definitely some players not feeling generous or cooperative around sharing Proudhorn hunts or allowing other slower hunters to get some shots in on sernuks. I'm not excusing any behavior but this shouldn't be a surprise to anyone either. People will people, especially in an online game with other players in the field. Lots of players out there now who like to play by preventing other players from completing or getting a shot in. Hard to believe that wouldn't be an expected result once coveted prizes were put into play.

the proudhorn will respawn 20 in game minutes after it was taken out. it's far quicker to solo and have it respawn than do callouts and waiting, especially when far too many people don't use dispell arrows

the quest text says he wants "sernuk noodle soup" (and, iirc, the book in ashura's room also calls it soup) but when you go to the stove, the recipe is called "sernuk noodle stew". it's mentioned in several places on the wiki that you do need stew for the quest not soup, e.g. https://palia.wiki.gg/wiki/Blue_Ribbon_Blues there isn't actually a recipe called sernuk noodle soup.

Well there are a few ways. You can use the command that mogikarp used in the polya server and that'll summon paliabot And you can go through that way. You can use the official palla website while logged into your account, or You could run around kilima and just continually yell that you need help.

The first two are better though... That one's not really guaranteed to get results

The rarity of the RNG items made me basically disregard me ever getting them. So I didn't grind for plushies and I didn't grind for starstones...especially not after the nerf to the drop rate...and NOW...a Ruby is a required item for a quest...And Devs wonder why people grind for everything and hoard items?!

I find mining boring and only do it to stock up on materials, but now...now I'm stuck trying to mine Palium to find the RAREST Starstone in the entire game. For a Trifecta of quests that I am now stuck unable to complete until RNG graces me with a Ruby (that I can't even request because I've never found one before). Ugh. This system is Deeply Frustrating.

Give me an alternate method to obtain this please!!! I'll save up Mining tokens to buy a Ruby if it means I can actually feel like I'm making progress on this! I'm ready to just quit. Locking everything behind RNG is a sure-fire way to make me not want to play anymore.

There have been a lot of recent additions to the game that involve RNG that were not here at launch and it makes me sad that it feels like everything is just becoming luck based, rather than a casual life-sim.

How can we feel like we are progressing at anything if the skill levels don't DO anything and everything is just RNG? This is not casual-friendly gameplay.

i feel like "casual friendly gameplay" is a very subjective matter.. it depends on each person on how they play and how they enjoy their time in the game..
I understand your frustration tho, gosh i was quite frustrated as well when I'm trying to get sernuk plushies (that i give up on for now)..
But to be honest, if there's nothing that is RNG based the way it is now, I would probably stop playing sooner after i get all that i want to get more easily.. -- again this is also a subjective things..

and the game is also still beta/early access.. so yeah i guess we can still hope for the best before it finally release fully in 1.0

the ruby thing is worse than you think. It's RNG (the palium node itself is a rare spawn) wrapped around more RNG (rarest drop from said rare node in the game) i'm 10 ore compasses, countless nodes, hundreds of ore and nothing to show for it. Gating not just one but multiple quests behind this much RNG is some gatcha game nonsense.

Eh, IDK, they're needed for Honey Lures IIRC, and they're a pain to forge otherwise... part of why I set up a second smelter is so I wouldn't be kept from making other things when I need to smelt Gold and Silver

Now I'm sitting on so much palium, I don't even know what to do with it all. I really feel like they should change the request system from "items you've already obtained before" to "items your character has learned about" imo
the difference being, items needed for quests, bundles, etc are added to the "items your character has learned about" list even if you haven't obtained them yet, as long as you have the quest or bundle in question

You are correct that it is the player’s choice to “grind” for the plushies. My children introduced this game to me a month ago. From the moment I started playing, I loved the characters, their storylines, the graphics, the two beautiful maps to explore and the temple quests! I am a stay-at-home parent, so this allowed me to play approximately 12-16 hours a day (yes, I was addicted! LOL) that was how much I loved it. I was always excited to see what was around the corner, just like a good book you can’t put down. However, since learning of the plushies, the atmosphere of the game has changed. It is highly competitive. This is no longer a “cozy game,” in my opinion. It has become stressful and no longer fun. In the short time that I have played the game, I have witnessed teamwork from the beginning disappear and it seems like everyone is out for themselves. This disappoints me as I was excited to be apart of this beta program and watch this game grow to become one of the leading games in its genre. This is all just an opinion, but something should be done to start bringing the community back together. These plushies (while very cute) appear to have become a wedge between many players.

The fact that players have felt the need to come up with an entire set of rules/etiquette on how people should be gathering resources isn't cozy, it's a failing of the game's own design and it should be on S6 to address it, rather than the players coming up with rules to police each other with as a 'solution' (which ends up causing friction more often than not)

I made the calculation today. Based on my 220 hrs on Steam since March 25th (Palia on Steam launch) that gives a average of 4.4 hr per day (50 days / 220hrs). So If I use same average from Beta opening on August 3d and 278 days between that date and March 24th, I arrive to 1.223 Hrs... + 220 hrs on Steam = 1.447 hrs. 😮

I only played one game ever (Glitch, a brower-based game) that was genuinely cozy. I've thought a lot since then why it was the way it was and I think it had a lot to do with a fairly small player base and a cascade of different chats (the chat feature spun off to become Slack). Small persistrnt community plus an interface (both UI and PC-only) that supported players getting to actually know each other. Palia by design doesn't have those things, and most games now and in the future won't, or can't (technically)

I'm just going to copypasta a possible solution I mentioned before, at least for groves (individual trees themselves, at least, have gotten significantly more tolerable with the ability to grow your own)
just make groves spawn at 12am, but unable to take damage until 3 am (people would still be able to 'tap' them in that timeframe though)
so everyone can get there, tap all the trees, and then when 3 am arrives, chop away to your hearts' content knowing that everyone else will get loot for the full grove as long as they tapped the trees too
also you can handwave the "cant take damage" thing as a "flow energy is too strong to effectively damage the tree, wait for it to dissipate a bit and then try again" lol

Palia is a great game if you love home decor. If you went into Palia expecting it to be more of an MMO, like it's claimed to be in the past, you wind up feeling.... incredibly disappointed, because, pretty much every earnable reward in the game that isn't furniture, is likely just a stepping stone towards a 'final' reward that is furniture.
As someone who's more into the cosmetic hunting side of things, I went into Palia expecting that many outfits would be paywalled, and I was ready to accept that, but to learn that there's no earnable outfits whatsoever, and there's no plans to add any either, was an incredibly crushing moment for me, in terms of hoping that I might be able to consider Palia 'home' 😔

Easy way to see this perspective is to flip it on its head: Imagine if any and all decor outside of the functional items + the log cabin set were paywalled. Imagine if every single plushie was paywalled. Imagine if your flowers were paywalled. etc etc.
Palia would not be nearly as an enjoyable game to play if the ability to decorate was so limited, now would it? There's only so many combinations and placement options you can come up with for one single furniture set before your house starts looking the same as everyone elses'. But hey, it's totally fine! All that extra decor is purely cosmetic! Right? ....Right?

Yeah it's a bug happening recently after this last update that's affecting many players atm, myself included.
I submitted a ticket to Support about it and they said S6 is aware of it and working on a fix but had no official workaround for it, but I noticed (on PC) if I change servers a few times it will correct itself.

I am still of a mind that we need a swap meet in game that would allow us to trade items that we have received as drops multiple times. I have several of the green cylinders, but none of the plush surnaks, in spite of having harvested enough meat to feed a small nation. I finally decided to make lemonade from the flood of green cylinders and I am lining them up in front of my cottage like sentinels, lol. I'd still really like to have the recipes that I am missing, but I am trying not to get too discouraged over the RNG factor in the game.

farming what exactly? When I first started, I started with potatoes/seeds and would sell the starred in bulk but I didn’t know if they were the most profitable or if something else was.

I know people have probably said this already but I wanted to say that its very frustrating hunting the magic muujin even in large groups no one can catch them I don’t understand why the developers even bothered to patch the known Magic Muujin hunting areas where there are cliffs that strategy was the best thing now i only been playing for a few months and I didn’t get to hunt them because of the glitch that happened before the updates now i believe i will never get a chance to get the trophy from them I’ve waisted so much time and material trying my hardest to catch one i really believe they should make it a bit easier to hunt them also i should note that i play on the switch

Hunting on Switch is slightly bugged in general, at least for me. Try to get normal muujin to run into a flow tree, though, it should turn them into magic ones.
Other than that, I agree that Sernuks are the only realistically huntable magical creatures (and the only realistically huntable non-level 1-creatures in general in my opinion).

Due to my apple trees not giving me any apples for 15 cycles (after the first harvets), I started to wonder if the adjacent crop that had weeds in them was preventing them from growing. So I removed the weeds, after it cycled at 6AM and went to buy something from Zeki's Store. I came back at 830AM and my apple trees were filled with weeds, though it hadn't cycled any. So are there more than 9 weeds on my garden but only 9 are visual or is gardening bugged again and forget about the perfect plot build for not having to water or weed and still get your bonuses?

And I already asked in the Gardening channel. Asking here because there is a larger audience and it is most likely a bug and I wanted to see if anyone else had an issue.

Most likely not since usernames are unique and if players changed them too often, it would increase the pool of unusable name. Plus being stuck with your current name makes players more accountable for their actions.

You could always just restart the game with a different email account. Especially if you are new and haven't done much yet.

Its rng on top of rng. Palium imo was better when it was in its own spots. The constant nerfs and added grind made me quit the game before. I was really enjoying being back into it but this just seems like another grind wall. The ore compasses help a little but mostly pick up the large iron so hardly do anything really. Getting rare bugs/plants/fish at least has a actual process other then hope for rng on rng like some korean mmo.

I know it's far from a perfect solution but if you get a good server where people wait it should be possible for you to find the location before it gets chopped without chat help.
There's only a set number of places it can be and you can normally narrow it down further based on the sound effect of when it spawns. It's always at midnight ingame.

For romance, you need level 3 or 4 of the friendship, and they count as a normal daily gift so if you gave one this day, try again the next day.

I decided to try out Palia not even a week ago, already collected most of the things that I wanted to have, a pinecone or a fish here and there missing, and when I was checking off things that remain to be collected, I came to a realization that a gazebo is not worth my time, nor is any of the items that can be bought for points, 1000 or 1500 for an aquarium, terrarium and all those endgame things is just too much, as is 225k that I'm supposed to grind out for a gazebo. Basically I came to a conclusion that it's better to not play at all than to grind out these last few things in a month and then feel empty inside with nothing left to do. This is a longevity and playability problem that I didn't encounter this early in other similar games, like My Time In Portia for example, and since I know devs care about the game and are actively trying to improve, I felt obligated to share this with you, because I'd like to come back to a game that can be enjoyed for more than a week, but for now I think I'm gonna put my axe and my pick back in the shed and move to something else. The community is very friendly and that made the playthrough a wholesome experience, made some friends, cooked together, but I'm not having fun grinding cake parties, it's brutal. I have ideas on how to fix these problems, but I'll just keep those opinions to myself, because whenever I recommended something to other developers, they either ignored it, banned me or cashed in on my suggestions without me seing a single euro from it, so yeah, I'm not going through that again. I'd just like to congratulate the team for making the game happen, as far as I'm concerned it's a success, but the longevity issue remains, playing HAS to be worth it

The forageables and palium nodes now behave the same. If someone picks or hits it, it goes on a 3 minute despawn timer from that moment. If a foragable or node is flashing, it means that it's about to disappear. The faster the flash, the faster it's about to vanish, so if something is flashing and you can see so from where you are, it's good to make the informed decision if it's worth it to chase it if it's about to disappear! Sweet leaf is super prevalent in Bahari, you'll find more before ya know it!

With so many new players coming in through Steam, mining palium has become a big issue. Sometimes you can't find any even with an ore compass. S6 needs to either bring back the static nodes (in addition to leaving it spawning in iron nodes) or increase the number of nodes. I prefer static because at least you can camp a place where you know it will show up and since we share ore now, everyone gets what they want.

i kinda agree like if you compare it with mounts in wow too, what got me was there was the mounts from the card game, exclusives and got taken out of game from getting, and then they brought one back as twitch drops iirc, but then you’d get mounts for mythic raiders who finish the raid or cash store only mounts, their available for you whenever but have to meet a “requirement to get”

i think if they did a brand new exclusive plush kinda would be cool but not really fair if you think of the whole player base, those that aren’t in the discord, that wouldn’t have gotten a chance to a new plushie, so maybe early access or zeki plush would be awsome instead

My idea has always been rolling those forward with a token shop. So if you complete the current HC raid you get the achievement + mount (achi is still limited because it makes sense) and then each subsequent completion of the same or higher difficulty will give you a token that you can buy past mounts with

I'm sure something similar can be done with the gladiator stuff as well, the currencies are just a bit too different to apply the exact same logic

aside from saying so in chat, not really. but not everyone has the chat enabled - and there's also currently a common bug that stops people from seeing messages in chat even when it's enabled. the grove etiquette is widely known here and in other palia communities, but not everyone engages with those communities.

you just have to kinda accept that some people don't know about the etiquette and some people do know but don't care.

tbh it's not the end of the world considering flow trees can also spawn at other times and places. if you need flow wood badly you can just start chopping regular trees and they may grow back as flow trees.

I wish there wasn't a limit on how many flowers you can plant/place on your lots. I want one of my plots to be a house in a meadow filled with wildflowers all over and i can only get about half way with the flowers looking very patchy because i have to space them to make it look like there's more flowers than there are.

I was just wondering that. Recently finished buying all the upgrades from both shrines and the wallpaper and roofs from City Hall (purchased all the writs long ago). Now I've maxed out at 1000 and it's just going to waste. Hopefully they'll have some kind of compensation if they release a lot of new stuff that takes Renown (or just not have more than 1000 Renown worth of new stuff).

If you're on PC have you tried the instructions in this post? Opening settings once you've logged in can undo the fix, so make sure everything is the way you like it first, then log out and do the thing. You should notice the difference right away if it works. The last update made my game very choppy, and this sorted it instantly.

okay the entire emberborn set being classified as common furniture seems a little silly to me lol. i just realized this after checking my achievements and working through crafting the pieces. i still have a couple recipes to unlock but so far the only thing i see that isn't common is the large gate and it's just an uncommon tier
