Hello.
I was wondering if there was some plan on the Palia road map to make it so you could give people plushies.
I've been playing with my girlfriend, trying to get those Sernuk plushies.
We've been hunting those Elder Sernuk together. I got three of them while hunting with her, and she got none.
She's also hunted them on her own at least 5x longer than our time together hunting.
Her hunting level is at 40 (started this when it was 15), and mine is 21.
She must have killed over a thousand of them by now, but nothing. She got the other two plushies, but this one eludes her.
It's really frustrating, especially when I have three of them and I can't give them to her - hence my question.

Been thinking…. I am maxed out on renown. Before you ask, yes, I am maxed out and brought everything that you can with renown. Playing since Beta doors open. There should be another shop in the game that only accept renown or give you a price in coins but also it equivalent in renown. It can be a shop that sells nick nack items like books, curtains, towels and washcloths for bathrooms, kitchen towels, coffee table type of items. Basically items to decorate your home that you cannot get/make anywhere else. Could even add doors for individual rooms inside the house.. just a thought…

I stopped caring about renown a long time ago if they will add something to spend it on, 1000 will probably be enough to get the majority of it, the rest can be obtained from new quests/achievements that will be added

Well, I really hope they do something.
I understand the probability of getting that drop is 0.1%, which means that on average it takes 1,000 attempts.
On average. It can easily be more. If my math is right, there's about a 14% chance you won't get it on your first 2,000 attempts.
Given the effort it takes to hunt one Elder Sernuk, that's pretty steep.

the plushies are also not something u are supposed to grind for, well u can but thats ur choice, they are designed to be something u will eventually get by playing the game at ~6900 the chance to get one by then would be 95% but yeah a pity system for something like that was also requested by a few, same for the item trading, but they very likely have other priorities, like a new map etc.

maybe increasing the odds for elder sernuks could help in the meantime, instead of 0.1 maybe 0.5% but weelll

tbh the biggest problem with Palia's RNG is that it's pity-less RNG
you can kill 1,000 sernuks, get nothing, and still be no closer to actually obtaining one than when you started, because the chance is still 1 in 1000. There's no sense of progress and you feel like your time was completely wasted if you didnt get lucky, because it was wasted.
implementing a pity mechanic, such as "rates increase by X% after every 500 kills(resets on plushie drop)" or "one guaranteed plushie drop at 2000 kills" allows for a sense of progress, which mitigates the sense of wasted time, for example:
"well, I killed 1000 sernuks and didnt get a plushie, but now I'm halfway to 2000 where I know I'll earn one, so I'll keep going"
or "well, I killed 1000 sernuks and didnt get a plushie, but now my rates are double what they were when I started so if I keep up I know those boosts will get one to drop eventually"

instead of how it is now: "I killed 1000 sernuks and didn't get a plushie, I feel like my time was completely wasted, can I just get one please I'm tired of grinding with no end in sight, no light at the end of the tunnel to keep me going"

it's 1:1000 per loot drop. it doesn't matter how many sernuks you take down. you basically role a dice when you go to pick up the loot drop, at that moment you roll to see what you get. it's why some people can go out and get one sernuk and then get a plush, turn around and after five more deer get another plush.

the plushies weren't made to be a grind fest, they were made to be a special surprise when you go hunting. the only one that i've actually grinded for was the order plush since i knew that it was going to be fixed at the next patch. but the others are now just if i happen to get it, it was my time to get it

the raito is correct. it's not the number of deer. it's the loot bag. you are rolling a d1000 every time you pick up the bag. if you land on a 1 you get the plush. if you don't you don't. the next loot bag you go to get, you roll another d1000 and again you have to hit the 1 to get the plush

without pity systems in place, there is a small, but possible chance that someone will never get a plushie no matter how many sernuks they kill
they could roll that 1000 sided dice 10,000 times, or more, and still not roll the 'winning' number.
If Palia had a market system, someone could use, for example, the gold they earned from selling all the random furs and horns and whatnot from all their sernuk kills, and buy the plush from someone who was lucky enough to get multiple.
Palia does NOT have trading, however, and that means that the game needs to consider that in regards to drop rates- that's why a pity system is absolutely necessary in a game like this imo

When I look at classical probability, in charts like that, the precise math of a drop used, I really want to know the real world chance people experience. Chance can be used to describe the reality of the results that we experience from the events of probability. Empirical probability.

But things like luck and risk are also involved in taking a chance with classical probability. I am likely to not grind for the thing in demand. However, if I get it, I will be pleasantly surprised .

Go to leaf hopper, check around their family home, through the ormuu pin, around auni's tree house, then the path from there to the quick travel sign
then in some form, server jump and do it again
in my experience it's really common for their to at least be 1 spawn hanging around

it's even better to use a buzzy jar while in leafhopper then server hop until buzzy jar picks something up within the area
I usually get 3 regular raspberry beetles every jump, just eventually it has to be starred
it's all about re rolling the die 🎲 as fast as possible

Like we get 9 plots that each have 9 slots but you can do a 1x9 plot or a 4x2+1 with a slot missing at the end for slotting into differing configs, etc.

I did some science and Math Yesterday.... 4:15hrs and 34 Proudhorns hunted before a plushie dropped, 14hrs and 641 Elder hunted before a plushie dropped, after 3601 arrows total .... next up is to finish and see how many more to get a sernuk plush to drop... I know the drops are random for everyone but I was just curious and decided to do this fun little experiment

Yes, either a magic creature or a epic bug spawns with the grove. Both can spawn outside of its normal spawning area so I've found the azure chapaa in many northern Bahari groves, though now thinking of it, I don't think I've ever seen a Proudhorn in a southern, below the wall, grove

the odds work like: ||each seed is a percent chance to get a flow seed (IDK the percent but I think I read 25% at one point?), and you get it once per day the same way the bird from the second temple is. so everyone should get flow seeds eventually, I've just been extremely unlucky||

also when people chop early, or just don't wait at all for anyone, I just think that there will be another grove in an hour anyway.

a lot of people aren't aware of the secret etiquette rules because no one's explained it to them yet
for example, I've seen a lot of people think that trees stick around for 3 minutes like ore deposits do then get bullied for chopping flow trees so they never learned otherwise

It's been on my mind for awhile now, that one of the earlier sort of "promises" from Palia was a strong statement against wanting players to feel FOMO - i.e. missing out on decor.

I do try to believe that one day some of the more "exclusive" decor we have now will be cycled in the future and there will be a balance at getting new stuff while making sure new players can still get the older stuff, but I wonder how that'll work. For example, we now know that Maji Markets will be reoccurring, but I don't blame people for feeling like they're missing out when those markets are like every few IRL months it seems

I'm an optimistic person so I'd like to think we could see Giga Frogbert again, but yeah. Much thinks.

sorry, the first part of the message was for ellenodale, they had said a bit earlier that they couldn't find the flow trees on their plot and was worried someone cut them down. but there is a glitch where the trees can bleed to other plots, and after looking they were able to find them. the second part was just saying exactly which grove you were talking about

game isn't even in full release and many of us are hitting our item limit on our home/favorite lots. To me, this is a problem. I'm guessing S6 thinks allowing us mulitple lots is the solution to this, but I don't think it is. I am not a big builder or decorator, but I like to have all my doodads and trophies on display in one place to enjoy in the place I am the most - my home/main lot with my garden and crafting machines. In their system it is just when the ticket is closed out.
Sometimes all they can do is acknowledge the report and send it to dev to fix it.
It's not practical to leave cases open indefinitely.

So let me talk about a point of mine I make every time this topic comes up.
I love collecting cosmetics. That's my thing, I love expressing myself through character customization. Housing decor? Not so much.
What does that mean for me in Palia? It means, there is nothing for me to work towards in the game that I actually consider worth my time.
Therefore, I don't really play. And if I'm not playing, I'm certainly not paying.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels that way. Giving people like me earnable cosmetics would provide a reason to log on and play.

Yeah, I don't think there is any games on Switch that just let you buy things direct.
That could be just because everyone is doing it because it's been proven to be a more effective way to part people of their money, or it could be imposed upon by Nintendo.
I don't know. I only point it out as a possible reason for why they do it this way.
But who's to say that S6 wouldn't still just do the coin thing even if there wasn't a requirement from Nintendo 🤷‍♂️
The only games I've ever played that has let me buy things directly for money were Blizzard games, and they have their own store and it's PC only so they can do whatever they want.

I think, for what I understood, you need less point to get to level 4. For exemple, if initially you needed a 100 points, it's now 60. so you'll have 40 points extra that will go in the, now level 5. But maybe Im wrong.

A capelet is just meant to cover your shoulders. A full cape can cover shoulders and arms. A cloak covers your whole top torso, your butt, and often has a hood.
