My view: it's hard for it to be a cozy community now, when we're worried about the well-being of developers who were unexpectedly laid off (no matter what your layoff package is, being laid off sucks) and the company is not doing a good job communicating to the playerbase any information as to how this will affect the future of the game (because it will affect the future of the game in both scope and timelines).

I mean, from conversations I've had here, it sounds like they do want to be more communicative; I'd argue we've already seen the start of that with a partial roadmap and the more common Dev Updates.

Thing is, our main connection to the dev team is through CMs, of which we currently have... 1. So anything communication-based is likely going to take longer.

The issue is that the roadmap was shared before the layoffs, so we don't know if that roadmap is even accurate anymore.

If i may give a little spot of advice - i'd take everything someone who isn't a mod or shepp says with a grain of salt. People get upset, and then twist the truth at times.
I've seen people claiming being banned for doing nothing wrong, for example, when i've seen them using hatespeech and insults to convey their thoughts.

I am not saying everything's going amazing, but... I don't believe it is as bad as some people say.

It's more likely that they'll be hiring more temp workers and contractors, as those tend to be cheaper in the long run (a lot of contractors don't get company benefits like health insurance, etc depending on the terms of their contracts and hours worked). Sometimes you can get lucky and get very passionate contractors who are re-offered and accept contracts to return, but it varies.

A roadmap is intended to be a much longer term vision of the game, understanding how it goes from where it is now to what it will be in it's final state. And surely 'one two story house, ammo pounce, building random peices, and an extra friendship level' isnt the final vision of the game..? right?

Hey is anyone else having problems with the referral codes not working as intended? I never got my own referral bonus for making an account through someone else and neither did the two people I referred. I also didn't get the referral bonus for referring those people and the "referral codes" don't seem to work either.

Is this a common issue?

I have seen some people over the last couple of weeks having issues with referral rewards. Sometimes they arrive at a delay or require a relog of the game, but if it's been a while it might be worth contacting Palia support so they can look into it.

Yeah, that does seem like it'd be a bit annoying, but anything they're asking you for is probably so they can try to figure out what's happening and correct the error so it doesn't keep happening to people going forward. They rely a lot on people's reports and eye witness accounts of bugs and other problems with the game.

This community's big enough that if you had devs go "hey, ask us anything whenever", they'd be inudated with requests. The CMs in a game community are meant to be a go between for "this is what we can currently share"

I still think the main point of the tree dirt is to make the trees you planted distinct from the pre-existing trees, so I doubt it will ever be removed entirely. Just hope they tweak it a bit

Well people do have epilepsy and have to be careful of flashing lights. It’s usually recommended that they don’t play video games for that reason. Kinda hard for games to monitor flashy stuff when most of us want flashy or shiny or sparkly oh look GLITTER! In all seriousness I do have a cousin with epilepsy. He doesn’t play games.

I think ideally, there would be settings were you could turn it off, but the default is that it should be as flashy as the devs want it to be.

It hasn't. We've been trying to ask and fight for it in this game for a while. Yes, it's been mentioned now they're thinking about it and adding it-- however, there is no real date and it's just "in the horizons". so it makes it difficult for me to "believe it" until "i see it" if that makes sense. Esp since it's been so long for even basic stuff.

and in general it's a struggle since this game has always been advertised as being accessible for everyone. when it's just not currently.

i still need toggle-able actions for some stuff lol. and i would like a way to turn off visual affects, since i get headaches or overstimulated easily. same with adjusting specific audio levels (but i know this part can be a bit more tricky.) idk there's a bit im sitting here hoping for.

I know it's somethign that has been asked since closed beta. they said they were going to add ammo pouches eventually, and they announced that in september and this is where we are now. There is still no ammo pouches lol

Brightness sliders, colourblindness settings, etc should be basic. esp the brightness sliders. they kept adjusting the brightness for us when everybody is different. they should of already had that part in the game.

Yes. Many times. I've been here since Closed Beta. I've been here where I was also defending this game and also understanding their point of view. Heck, in some instances, I still do-- it's why I have stated that some accessibility features that would be nice, would take time or might not even be added.

But we also still have crticisms. We can have those. We aren't even complaining but are also discussing. People can look and see both sides, but also still feel the way they do, and that's okay.

From my perspective, I do think lighting is a pretty complex feature than what people take it for, depending on the game of course. For example in Palia, there is the outdoor/natural lighting vs. all the different decor pieces, like how now we've just gotten the Spring Fever set and the light strings are different than the chandeliers inside the house. There's also then the question of lighting/color balance with the items and their surroundings. And then there's the whole it goes from feedback -> modelers -> tech/coding people and such (idk how dev process works ). I do also think about how I'd rather have people who have more expertise in accessibility options than the average dev, so I wonder if that's what has been taking up so much time.

Which to clarify it's just an explanation of why I think lighting would take so long, not an excuse though!! I also agree that I wish these kinds of features had more priority and were here sooner

one is the source of the information and the other helps display the information for the room that you are in.

if you turn in-game brightness down to 0 or up to 100, you're either going to lose detail by having too many shadows or by having your midtones and highlights blown out. Either way no amount of adjusting your monitor will fix it.

Get a calibration disc or program that brings up certain images, and follow the directions and adjust your monitor settings for the lighting in your room. I play in a dimly lit room so my TV brightness is turned down to 0. a sunny room could require 80-100.

Then when you open each game you'll just have to adjust brightness or gamma slightly or not at all.

I don't seem to have this problem, never thought the game was really dark. I've got my settings set to very vivid though, so colours are more saturated. Idk if tha makes a difference.

Well, it'd just be easier to start with-- Like, being able to adjust it in-game, verus having to change it each time on your monitor when you're loading up something different. That doesn't happen in this game. 🙂 You can romance whoever you want (ETA, as long as they are romanceable, ofc) and as many people as you want. You can however only have 2 pins active at a time, but you can still do the romance with each person.

It doesn't have any real impact on things, though some comments may be less optimistic than others. Oddly enough, even though none of the characters in game seem to be poly in their own relationships, it seems to be the norm for the people of Kilima, they don't question romancing everyone.

As in, they're not going to break up with you if you romance anyone else.

From my experience, it's just whenever everyone that has said OMW has arrived. Some get chopped at 2am, some at 5am. Most commonly, from ones I've joined in, it's around 3am cause people arrive generally quickly. But there's no specific rule. 3am is absolutely fine. And you're also not doing anything wrong chopping and someone doesn't arrive in time. It's naff to miss out, sure, but it's not a requirement in terms of gameplay. 😄 Having said that, I do prefer to wait for everyone, I've just had groups whereby someone didn't mention they were on the way or maybe arrived later than expected.

Take it with a pinch of salt. There's no rule, there's no 'this is the best time'. Grove can be chopped by two people on their own at 1:01am and most of us would be none the wiser. It's normal to miss resources. You did nothing wrong, and that person is (thankfully) the minority in game from what I find. I've not been to a single grove where people haven't been willing to wait if someone clearly stated they were on the way!

Sometimes when I'm playing, inputs will happen twice in really quick secession. Is this just a problem I'm having, or are others experiencing this too?

A couple examples of what I mean:

• I have a item queued up/highlighted in my inventory. If I left click, it will come out of inventory, and I'll be in placement mode. If I left click again, it will place the item. When the "quick secession" thing happens, I left click once, and the item will come out of my inventory and place without a second left click

Now, I thought that maybe it's a problem with my mouse, but I have the same issue with my keyboard.

• I'm in placement mode. I select G once to pick up and item. The item gets picked up, but so does also the flooring underneath that item.

I don't play other games on my computer. Just Palia, and work, but I haven't yet noticed this when I'm doing work on my computer.

Listen That star duskwing is one of the only star bugs I'm missing and... I've still never seen one. I managed to get lucky finding a normal one but like.. them things be exclusive. I've used a good few honey lures for it too. But nope. Doesn't want to show itself.

But all the flowers i'm growing are going to be for a 'park' type plot I've started working on. Going to be all outdoorsy. Prob only going to put a harvest home on it's own on the plot as a sort of 'gift shop'.

This one one of my fave rooms in the house and the purple is just SO obnixous in it. And it isn't supposed to be there. It's supposed to be the emberborn wall there. But the game seems to have an issue with walls joining hallways. It also happens in another room of the house too, but the wallpapers match better in there so I don't worry about fixing it every time like this one.

I mean the tree isn't exactly great either, but that'll fix itself lool. It matches the colour scheme at least.

Hmmm, hunting horns for the proudhorn sernuk. A ton of slowdown arrows for the elder sernuks, and if you’re fast then switch to fine arrows after the slowdown hits. And if you’re hunting regular sernuks with a friend, get some makeshift arrows so you both can get a hit and loot without it disappearing immediately!

How do I get the recipe for Petit Five? I have done all the guest that lead up to me getting the real recipes to make, I have made two but I can’t seem to make Petit Five no matter what I do. Am I missing something?

Has anyone thought of, or discussed the logistics of doing a Flow Tree chopping party on their plot with random people?

I think the best way would be to do it on an empty plot, but I'd like to be able to invite a lot of people, and that seems to be the most challenging part.

For example, if you have 10 people all ready to chop, and they don't go slow, then 4 people all hitting it at once will kill the tree before the other 6 people hit it.

Do you just go with that risk, or do you limit the group to 4 people?

just get every person to tag every flow tree and different intervals, preferably at differet start points, and then meet at the front of plot when finished, then when everyone has tagged, go chop them all

I suppose that's a good idea. If there are a ton of trees, and staggered starting places, it's unlikely that 4 people would hit the same tree all at once.

You have everyone just tap the trees once and have them wait for the FT to regenerate its’ health so it doesn’t get chopped down. Once everyone has tapped, then you all chop.

i normally go to the grove, call it out on chat (if not done so already) and fire a flare, often give the nearest FT point. then 1 hit on all the tree's, wait 5 mins, "whose not here yet?" on chat, note the "omw"'s and keep the assembled group waiting until all who put in chat have arrived, then "all here now then?" again wait for everyone, then "kk, all rdy?" wait 30secs then if no further chat messages then "ok lets chop" and chop. i dislike the chop at 3am rule as its boring waiting for it but if EVERYONE did it then i wouldnt turn up until that time if it wasnt going to be chopped early., its like herding cats sometimes and i luckily only had one grove where 2 people chopped it all down without waiting despite numerous messages saying stop...

I tend to do the 3am rule unless it's the northern flooded fortress spawn (which is the one that's 2 trees and a baby). For that one I just call it out and wait for all the omws and say we're chopping bc it's not worth waiting 7 minutes for 10 wood at max

Ty. Just had a super frustrating experience where I called and flared grove at thorny and asked folks to wait until 3 to chop unless someone was otw. At 2 someone suggested 230 chop and I reiterated that I’d prefer to wait until 3 to give ppl time to arrive. 240ish someone is still on their way so I asked people to wait for everyone to arrive but at 3 on the dot a whole group of ppl chopped and the person who was otw missed out. It would have taken maybe 30 seconds irl to just wait and include this last person. But the worst part is, people in chat ganged up on me for asking ppl to wait. Said it’s disrespectful of their time to make everyone wait for one person 😅 and literally nobody stuck up for me. It was wild and made me seriously contemplate taking a long break from palia.

I mean, there's always things to do while you wait for 3am. You can chop other trees, run away a little further and mine. Just have to return at 3 to get your drops.

There's plenty of other things to do than the grove. If i don't have time to wait, I don't go there. I just do something else in the limited time.
If i know i have to leave shortly after grove spawn, i just... don't go. It's that simple.
