I know, I'm sure the "elf" thing comes from anime, because that's how they draw elves in anime - long, sideways-oriented pointy ears.
But yeah, I do consider them to be their own, unique species of beings. We know there were humans wherever Palia is.. whichever star system it might be. So I'm guessing the humans came to Palia long before the Majiri either were, or were just becoming sapient, and whatever research had been done was either lost or has come under the control of The Order.

And yes, absolutely we are in agreeance - it should read "Kenyatta is a Majiri". Then the article will agree with the following word, and we're not shoe-horning every pointed-eared being into an "Elf" label.

I'd really enjoy a deep, deep dive into the lore - more for my own scientific bent, but I do think it is all very interesting to say the least. What do we know, really? There were humans once, long ago. They wiped themselves out (at least that's how it seems), tapping into forces they didn't really understand (Oppenhiemer anyone?), and here we are, on the recovered remains of a world with humans reemerging from The Void.. being reconstructed from genetic samples and brainwave patterned stored in the Embra Biological Backup Database?

I have no idea what this is all about. The only frogs I am aware of, are the trash bin ones. Einar has one, I was given a red one, and... yeah, that's about all there is to be said for it. It doesn't really do anything. It's a box with a lid that makes a noise when you open or close it. I put gems in mine, as I'd run out of surfaces to pile them onto.

During the Winterlights event, there was a frog swimming in that fountain there, where you could buy the leaves and snow and ice and so on. And while I didn't spot it myself, if I'm understanding FROG Enjoyer correctly, there also was one in one of the stores buildings built there.

The things in the fountain - I've seen a Dragon, A Phoenix, a something I'm still not sure what it's suppose to be... they look like toys. They are not. Whoever did the fountain design here actually knows a thing about fountains. Those little floaties keep the fountain edges clean and free of scummy buildup.

Those are "Scum Balls". They do the same thing, just you usually find them in swimming pools or hot tubs, as they're soft and generally removed before use. They work in fountains too, but the more ridgid floaters work better, as fountains tend to get churned a lot more than an unoccupied hot tub.

Is flipping food bugged?
I was making the dumplings and the flip stop circle was at the top of the screen, I got almost exactly at the center of that circle, but it said I failed, luckily I was able to complete the second time...the stop circle was about at the 7 o'clock point that time.

I haven't had a flip fail, but I did find some odd behavior making... I don't remember... something that required 4 flips. IF you do all the Prep first, it will act like it failed. You simply MUST wait a period of time for the Flip to become active. I also just pulled a surprise walk-by pie-ing (popped by a freind's house unannounced and made Apple Pie) and was instantly Stuck-Bugged. Since not my house, not an Editor, couldn't "H" out of it, so had to /unstuck to get back to making pie.

I'm thinking a lot of the problems people keep having with cooking, Flipping in particular is caused by doing all of the prep before doing anything else.

Nope. Even on PC, people tried to use a VPN and it didn't work. And I'm certainly not gonna pay for a VPN just to play Palia. Also @lyric night maybe the bugs are meaningless for you but some can't play anymore because the bugs are making it unplayable. I'm not able to fish anymore because my reticle keeps disappearing at some point. Sure, I can do other things. But that's frustrating since it's supposed to be part of the gameplay.

This, haha. They have stated a few times before that some patches were focused on fixing bugs, yet barely any were done, or more bugs popped up that caused different frustrations.

I'm at least glad to see, that at least the achievement bug has been fixed (from what i've seen/heard, anyways? Unless i'm wrong?). That was in the game for absolute ages. Because that was making the game unplayable for a lot of people.

My question with 'beta/early access' is always: How long do we use that excuse? They could just continue on as-is and never put a 1.0 label on a patch, while feeding us buggy new content that seems to not have been QC'd in-house at all, and releasing more premium cosmetics to continue taking money.

Hi guys. I'm really sad and mad at the same time. This game used to be very friendly and harmonic. But now everyone is disrespectful and does not call out rare things like groves or doesn't wait when you write that you are on the way. For some people it's really hard to get rare crafting items like flow trees because they don't appear that often.. the palium groves are gone too.. farming is not fun anymore... I'm at a point where I'm really considering quitting the game and fyi I play since closed beta.. the community was not toxic back then like it is now.. 😦

The thing about etiquette, is that it's varies by people, and very subjective. You cannot really make a guide about it. Though, I think you could just sum it all up with the Golden Rule - treat others as you would want to be treated by them

Yep, always tap trees at grove before taking other steps. Unless you're first at the scene, in which case check for the rare bug/animal/flower spawn

I've also taken to calling out in Nearby only, particularly for one off flow trees or medium pal. small pal I 100% don't bother with. better to mine it and proc a response asap

People can and will play how they want, and I won't fault them for it.
The only thing that really irks me, though - when a 2 person group clears a grove less than a 1 minute after it spawns by themselves, without calling it out/waiting for others.

I witnessed this once. It was the 10 tree grove near outskirts, and it enraged me.

And I can almost guarantee you that they are jumping to another server as soon a they've cleared it, and asking people on the other server to wait for them to get to that grove before they chop it down.

I'm not against the idea of a cosmetics cash shop at all but I find it really difficult to support a game that makes, basically, ALL of their cosmetics paywalled, outside of the most basic looking defaults.
There are, effectively, zero earnable cosmetics. Of any variety. The only thing you can actually earn that you can show off to others is furniture, and.... other people can't see furniture unless you go out of your way to friend them just so they can visit your plot.
The point I'm getting at is, it's okay to make a cash shop and offer some extra fancy cosmetics, but there IS a point when a cash shop's existence can begin stifling the actual game's ability to grow, and I feel that effectively locking out entire item categories from being earnable rewards is that point when it's gone too far

I know my opinion is probably in the minority though. But I really feel like palia needs to figure out how to add a wider variety of earnable item categories to the game, instead of everything boiling down to "home decor" or "materials for home decor" >>

this is what I see most often when people cut groves without calling it out, usually 2 people who then jump to another server. They tend to hang in the Outskirts before midnight and when I see 2 players run together towards a grove more times than not I find them chopping right away

However, I can say for certain that companies love money. I'm certain that S6 put in a lot of time, effort, and research into their business model and came to the conclusion that what they've implemented is the most effective method based on that analysis. I'm sure they've looked at all of these other games brought up as examples here as well.

You know what else companies love? Player retention. People aren't paying if they aren't playing, after all.
They want you to stick around and pay for cosmetics, but as it stands.... what is there to do at 'endgame' that isn't just.... amassing furniture/materials for furniture? There's achievements, but what rewards do achievements offer other than, well, what I just mentioned?
Increasing variety of rewards means a wider variety of people will now be sticking around and playing for those rewards.

Many of us have suggested other things that can be monetized (like skins for your tools for example) in hopes of encouraging additional free stuff, but S6 are under no obligation to make those decisions

While I have personally invested in cosmetics myself, it was more for the purpose of supporting the game rather than the specific outfits.

I'm going to regret this but here's my 2 cents anyway. I played Palia for almost a month. I liked it enough that I would consider a cheap subscription model to keep playing for a while. So, I added that up and paid them in advance for 4 months of playing. As long as they don't abandon it before the middle of summer, I won't regret spending that money.

basically, what I'm getting at is, I don't think it's intended to be a pump and dump scheme, but they're basically burning through all their "player count boosting" opportunities at a breakneck pace, at a time when the game is/was in a state that can leave newer players with a sour first impression (achievement bug that only just got fixed, after being an issue for a full 5 months, gale bug that prevented progression, etc etc)
Will they manage to pay the investors back? Probably. But the game will likely never thrive as much as it could have, had they handled it better from the start, is what I'm getting at

link your twitch to palia, then open a palia stream with rewards activated (they'll say so if their stream has rewards on) and leave on background for 3 hours

Twitch notifs will tell you when you've earned your things, click on that > redeem all the rewards > log onto palia and grab it

I had to make my own macro/keybind for my own mouse, outside of the game, to make it easier for me. When I personally think it should of just been something already in the game itself.

Decent color sliders are tough to implement, even in UE. As for lighting... UE has a great lighting system, but it really takes a deep understanding of the lighting systems, and a LOT of fine tuning and customizing to get it "just right", and "just right" for one person may be completely wrong for someone else... it's a [something]-contest in a wind storm.

if it's going to be on steam, it needs to have controller support. maybe an in game keyboard isn't feasible for chat by the time of release, but the rest of the controls ought to be there, and displayed to the user as appropriate, instead of making players use a steam controller mapping.

they certainly must not require a keyboard for the switch, after all.

if you come from other farming sims where you can co-op, I know some OG ones you can't dw, and you see multiple players on a plot, I at least, expected it to be full co-op possible, but everything is limited to your character. Which means you can't really complete quests together or give each other furniture etc, a lot of people I know wanted full co-op on one plot to play with family members (full access to all the machines and full privileges)

I have a ps5 controller (because I have a ps5) and for the pc however I have an xbox controller because some games do not support the ps5 one. now the unfortunate thing is they both have an X button... in different places. and there are games that will tell you 'X' for interaction (which that should always be the left button in the four button layout, but for one game it is NOT, they want the bottom button)... so long story short I mash the wrong button about 30% of the time in that game 😄

yeah most games on PC use the XBOX controller mapping scheme, because that's the main one used for PC games (XBOX is owned by microsoft, and most PCs are microsoft windows)

if you have to choose, go with the XBOX controller because most games are made to work with those first and would have the XBOX map

It's a take on the Hellmo / Elmo Rise meme, but it really does depend on context. One of the meanings I understand is as Kali said. Or sometimes it's "this is hell" or rising from the flames.

because of folks not having nitro the meaning of a lot of emotes get stretched (like using it as "this is fine" instead of elmo rise), which unfortunately makes the context really important for figuring out the intention at any given time

there is going to be an update on the 27th to fix bugs, at least that is what i've been seeing. The npcs are able to send gifts that are star quality as many quest lines reward star bugs and food for completion. Chayne was able to send a letter with the wish ribbons in them with the past update. They could make it so that Zeki, in the new update, sends letters to the player character stating that he had extra taiyaki left over from the luna new year and thought that we would like them instead of throwing them out.

Anyone know if that island out far in Bahari bay is reachable? I see that the wall that separates north and south sort of goes out into the water and looks like any other “obstacle” where you glide from one area to another to get somewhere cool. Is this a thing or does it just look like it?
