It's definitely not too bad. I usually play solo, which means i can only get the small ones, or the medium ones with animation cancelling. But before the EU servers launched, i couldn't really do that because of the lag. Now it feels so much better!

Discord has definitely proven to be ineffective in being a platform for feedback. The google form is definitely a better way, but it's not perfect either. Maybe we'll get actual forums some day

Not sure forums would do anything when certain things will always be "my way or the highway" 🦀 They had the issues/feedback section set up like a forum before and that did nothing, I hate discord as a primary tool for devs but how they set it up, I don't think it'd matter all that much

The main issue with the discord forums is the member limit. If a thread goes over 1000 members, noone else can post messages in it. The catch-all thread for issues had to be re-made like 5 times because of it

But whatever tools they want to use for gathering feedback, it wouldn't really change what they do with said feedback. Personally, i feel like i have already said my biggest concerns about the overall state of the game, so i'm just waiting to see if they consider those or not. So i very much feel what a lot of people feel about their responses so far

Oh no I agree with that, discord is horrendous and they never should have set it up that way to begin with but it seems to be a trap for a lot of devs these days. The issue is more shutting it down with nothing but a Google form to replace it

Some of the dev stubbornness is keeping me from loving the game even if things got fixed but ehhhh. Otherwise, I'm still on break until I can have server stability and working collection tracking

Discord is definitely a lot easier to set up than a self-hosted forum. But if you need to do any customization, you'll be limited by what the platform offers. Great for small games and studios, but i feel like we are starting to outgrow it

I'm also taking it chill these days. I'll log in to water my garden, fill up my crafters, maybe run down to the village to talk to the NPCs, and that's about it

Best work around is to pull out the item you want to request from your storage then you'll be able to request that item - this will only last for your current play session then be wiped again the next time you log in

There was an issue with players not being able to connect to the in game chat

The issue was that the in game automod was applied to the server-client connection messages. Some character IDs had number and letter combinations that it didn't like, so it deleted the connection request messages that the client tried to send

I also have those perfectionist tendencies and HATE being mean to NPCs but I have a checklist of things I can pass along of things to complete in each act, so it feels I’ve touched everything and I’ve got 100% even if there are consequences for my actions. Yeah, it's easy to outlevel the main story at this point. Might be worth trying some alt jobs too! but there's--- FFXIV WHY DID YOU JUST BOOT ME OUT WITH AN ERROR-- no real harm in outleveling either if you just wanna stick to one job. My friend has me taking on every job and class bc he’s trying to get me raid ready by next summer 😭 I’m still trying to figure out what feels the best to play tbh I started with arcanist bc magic but then I realized I enjoy being in the middle of battle too much so I’m testing lancer but it doesn’t feel quite right. But it’s still so ridiculously fun I can’t wait to get deeper in the story

hasjkdas if you're raid ready you'll prolly be better than I am LOL. I'd say there's no real need to super level every job up to do raids, the most I'd say is maybe one of each role just so you get familiar with how each role works, so you know how to work with them well on whatever your main is and get a feel for the game as a whole?

(like for example, if you're a tank main, leveling a DPS for a bit will make you realize oh crap I need to make sure I keep the mobs positioned so the melees can hit their positionals)

Lancer/DRG always felt a little clunky to me but apparently that's getting a rework next summer for the next expansion. Maybe try Red Mage when you hit 50 and can thus unlock it? you're not always in the thick of the action but you do have a melee combo, and tbh even as ranged you don't want to be TOO far from combat anyway lest your healer hate you forever LOL

You're fine, you did nothing wrong. However the person who reported you pretty much reported themself if they called you out by name in chat. There is no rule saying you have to wait for anyone for anything, but I've heard from a few people that if someone calls another player out by name in chat that could be considered harassment by player support. Just last night there was a long dialogue in server chat about this issue and a player was warned not to go after another player in chat about waiting/not waiting for a flow tree.

don't feel too rushed, the game is about the journey not the destination, your friend should let you take it at your own time ;; raiding's not going anywhere. besides, there's gonna be job changes in dawntrail anyway (DRG and AST very much so) so having every job memorized rn isn't gonna be 100% applicable. an understanding of each role is enough to start with, don't be too pressured

and yeahhh aside from in some dungeons, wall to wall pulling is the norm which is fine if you're used to the game but if you're still learning the basics is definitely not easy LOL don't feel afraid to ask for them to slow down a bit, most people are understanding towards sprouts

seriously though try not to let that stress get to you! most people are really understanding especially if you're new to the game. we love our sprouts. just try, ask questions if you need to, and be open to advice, and you're gonna be perfectly fine. FFXIV isn't like WoW where the game is about endgame raiding, it's about your journey through the story, so keep that in mind too!

(nudging this particular point back on topic for the server lol) As one of the people who keeps talking about how we really need to have a sense of 'visual progression' in palia, yeah. You can really see how it makes a big difference in an MMO, not only in how you see yourself grow but how you can see others grow and progress in the game- and that it's NOT impossible for earnable clothes and cash shop clothes to coexist. Which... IMO being stuck in default clothes forever makes Palia feel bad to me. I really, really hope Palia eventually sees sense and at least gives us earnable skill-based outfits, but with things like the builder and herbalist outfits already paywalled I feel like the damage has already been done v.v

It's made even worse by the fact that our color options are so limited. Even with a decent selection of tops and bottoms to choose from, there's only like 3 or 4 combinations of those pieces that actually look good together

Yeah I felt super limited due to the color clashing. There were certain combos I wanted to use but couldn't 'cause they just looked. Bad with each other, color-wise.

if we could choose color 1 and color 2 for clothes the same way we do for hair it'd help a ton. But if they did that then they wouldn't be able to sell 3 different textures of the same outfit in the cash shop as well.

Hey folks. I'm in the stage of the game where I need to decide where my focus is going to be, I guess, for money making/killing time.

I really enjoy fishing/farming/bug hunts - so I figured I would go the berry/apple/potato/tomato route to do seeds/jam and then worm and glow farms for fert/worms for fishing.

I currently have one of each main crafter, four seed makers, two jammers and two each of the worm farms. I feel like I am keeping up with myself everywhere but with pickles/worms -- I have tons of fertilizer, and it sells well, so no complaints there. But I basically use sushi and pickled potatoes for food (I'm at 700-something for focus atm).

I guess my question is for the folks who self-sustain fish, how many worm farms do you typically run and is it worth doing another jammer so that I have three, one for pots, one each for apples/berries?

This may seem like a silly conundrum to some, but I am trying to balance budget/profit and in-game fun (re: activities I enjoy doing) all at the same time. Thanks in advance for any insights. 🙂

You know what? I've followed zero money making methods, my garden has zero special planning, yet I've hit cap many times over. I've purchased all the purchasable things. It's really not hard to make money, do what makes you happy! One day I may fish, the next I may chop trees till my bags are full. It feels less grind to just do whatever I feel in the moment

What i found the easiest for the worm problem is just having as many glow worm farms as you can, and buying mushrooms from Zeki to feed them

If you use the worm for fishing, that's 16g spent per worm. If you have an overflow of them, you can sell the worms + fertilizer for a profit. Not sure from the top of my head how much the profit is per mushroom, but i believe it's pretty decent

Oh, and i just buy regular worms from Zeki, it's cheap enough

This developer update is really really disappointing. It feels really flung together last minute, really lacklustre, and nothing to look forward to. This means that flow groves will not be out until 2024 at the earliest… And also no word on: main quest content being expanded, trading system, expansion of the current skills, new skills, new areas, increased interactivity with friends on plots, climbing, missions with friends, other QoL updates… like WOW… nothing…

Switch is a single unified platform. Exact same hardware, exact same Operate System and drivers. Its a one and done deal. PC development has to account for generations of Graphics Cards, Ram speeds, Motherboard quirks, CPU logic and structure, SSDs vs HDDs, Wins 10 vs 11, drivers, just on and on and on.

And fairly often, those optimizing and porting projects to new platforms (aka consoles) are entirely different teams or even studios

I had this idea about adding specific planters to the game, one that only holds 2x2 crops like berry or pepper plant, another that would only hold an apple tree or any other crop that was a 3x3. Limit the number of them per player of course, but that would allow us to plant veggies in the plots themselves.

Seems a pattern that if a bug isn't 100% effecting everyone then good luck on getting a fix in any reasonable amount of time. Like I get it, but there is no way they're being open and honest about the issue. That's all fancy PR speak for "we don't know what caused it and we have absolutely no idea how to fix it." If they were being real they'd just offer to delete your account so you can recreate it and continue progressing as normal.

Some can complete achievements/get the rewards but not have it show up completed while others get it completed but dont get the rewards or the achievement

I feel for the people who feel like they aren't being heard but it's important to understand that the Dev Blog isn't supposed to be a place for a giant checklist addressing every concern of the entire playerbase. They provide sneak peaks on updates that they feel are in a complete enough state to show off and address some of the more egregious problems that affect big parts of the playerbase. Just because something isn't included in the latest blog doesn't mean it's not still in development or on their radar. Frankly, everything in this last blog was a positive for the game imo.

I mean it's the Minecraft style of dev update. It worked for Minecraft because while the game was barebones back then you could do anything you imagined you could with the blocks provided. With this game it's story based and with nowhere to progress to once you finish available content off all that is left is the house grind. That's why tiny feature teases and small updates don't work for it. They'd be better served just dropping major updates when things are tested and ready. Like every other MMO out there, free to play or not, old or new, etc.

game development is split into teams, there is probably a team that actively works on all of the bugs in the game while separate teams are responsible for developing new features. new features doesnt mean theyre not working on bugs, so no need to worry about that really.

They're giving us little nuggets of info while the game is going through varying degrees of broken this and buggy that. Personally I want more down to earth Dev blogs where they address efforts being taken to improve basic functionality instead of ooo shiny.

As for the beast... there's 1 whole frame where you can see it and then a giant tease it's going to have a mechanic that's going to drive me barmy... i cant really get excited for that.

I know the achivements one is a doozy, but what about when a player gets the TPOSE bug because their client couldn't load their appearance and if they interact with a wardrobe it resets their whole appearance? that means the server is doing some crazy crap in the back to have a player force an appearance reset when unable to load it, that's even scarier to me

Honestly the problem with how they're handling things, for me...
I would be a lot more forgiving of the countless bugs and the constant "it's beta!" excuses if they weren't pushing the cash shop/premium outfits in every single update.
I would be a lot more forgiving of the cash shop outfits being pushed so hard if the game was actually properly fleshed out and bugs/progress breaking issues were kept to a minimum or at least squashed more quickly.

One thing I'd like to bring up is that the gemstone chart isn't the only thing that segment of the dev update is about. They also stated they would be adding the gemstones to the loot pool in the future as a way to make mining more luctrative. While I appreciate there's setting detail and an added element of world-building, it's a bit dishonest to imply the only thing there was something intangible.

Yes, the concerns about bugs and stability needing to be focused on are still entirely valid. But I find sometimes the criticism here is a bit too exaggerated in order to cast shade on the devs.

games (especially games in development) need to make money. game development is extremely expensive and considering that premium outfits are completely optional i think its silly to criticize it at this point. theyve made it clear that the outfits are their sole source of profit for the game so id just let them have it. making the textures and models for the outfits is much easier than coding so thats why theyre produced so quickly.

We could have had functional f2p pets AND paid skins for those pets. We could have clothing unlocked based on skill level progression, basic f2p clothes for sale, AND paid fancy clothes. This isn't a hard concept. People who aren't going to pay or don't have the means to pay are not going to pay just because no other option exists. They're going to see their real life mirrored in game and realize that the dev defender squad might be right when they say the game "might not be for you" and leave.

Well it takes years of practice but I find the trick is literally to fake it until you make it when trying to alter your personality. You see I wasn't always this understanding, or patient. I had to practice being that way for a long time, but eventually I didn't have to try anymore because I simply was that way. So maybe a year or so of concentrated effort? Starting the implementation of such a mental training routine is the hard part. You have to want to be better.

I totally understand that, I can code a little myself but i wouldnt have the motivation to update if I dont get anything out of it and I stopped playing the game for example.

I personally would let users host some parties/month for free but use a 1$/month monetization model for unlimited hosts. Like 50-100$ a month would keep me motivated to do the updates even if I no longer play the game regularly. Could even be transparent and give more free hosts the more subscriptions/month.

I'm facing significant issues with the servers. Here are the details:

Region Transition:
When transitioning from one area to another, I occasionally encounter a "Connection Not Possible" message. However, a subsequent click on "Play" in the menu usually allows me to access without any hitches.

Collection Delay:
For instance, when I'm hunting and attempting to pick up the loot, I experience delays ranging from 5 to 7 seconds.

Workbenches Interaction:
Adding or removing items from the workbenches also has an associated delay of 5 to 7 seconds. If I close the menu during this delay, I find myself immobilized for approximately 5 seconds.

Planting Process:
When planting seeds, there can be a noticeable delay before the newly planted seeds become visible. After watering the plants, the watering animation continues even after releasing the action button, restricting my movement considerably until the animation finally stops.

Mining:
I see rocks and ores that cannot be mined.

I've been encountering these issues for about a week now.

Previously, I never had any issues with Palia. I'm unsure about the current situation with the servers or where these significant glitches are originating from.

Recently my accomplishments for fishes, bugs and so on got the black out bug. I understand its still in the works for a fix but im curious, since I completed my bugs accomplishment before the black out but it shows as completed, so can I still fish even tho upon logging off and on, are blacked out again? Like do they register in the code that Ive caught a new fish even tho the image icon will be blacked out?
I just want to know if its not a time waste to spend time trying to work on these accomplishments or wait till the fix comes.

I think it does check. I know for the bugs one, gifts from NPCs didnt count like when auni gifts a star jeweled dragonfly or something. we had to catch it ourselves for it to register.
but yea ive been saving a star version off all the fishes ive caught before the bug

u can simply just catch ur missing fish if u know which ones u are missing, the system will register the new ones and save it, tho it will blackout again, but with no progress lost, u should be able to complete achievements no matter what

to be extra safe I would hold onto rare and epic fish tho

This unfortunately won't help, since it checks it if you catch mot If you have it or pick it up. I tried whem I got a bug I haven't caught before from a quest reward. Doesn't register that you have caught it.

it's only the gifted bugs/fish that don't count, for most people if you catch any bugs/fish even with the achievements blacked out it is still counting, i finished my bug and fish collection with the blacked out achievements and it's possible for most still @tribal jacinth

No worry! The game us still actually tracking all progress in the background, it just doesn't show it in the silhouettes. I've finished multiple collections, including catching all the bugs, since this glitch!

I love it! In my excel spreadsheets, I have sortable columns for my furniture a similar way! I categorize them as were they can be placed (floor, wall, ceiling, peaceable on other items) and what their interaction types are (light source, water, cabinet doors that open) etc. I wish that stuff was in the base game.

Some download programs include the install/unpacking time as part of the %, so while it may have the files downloaded, they may still be installing. Or as Kraad said, it could also have just allocated (reserved) that space so its certain it has enough room yo download it all.
